  1. (If you have questions about the lore/worldbuilding, ask them now because I might not be very active for the next few days since I'll be going to see my grandparents. I'll also be making a guide post so things don't get too wacky but it'd be nice to get an idea of what should be included in it so if anything's on your mind, ask ahead)
  2. "Yes, hopefully. They're things that happened to you long ago in a very different place." A light caught his eye and he noticed another figure nearby. This time he was fairly certain that it was someone he knew and waved them over. (@CATFISHPARTY's character is also here by the way)
  3. (You can make multiple characters as long as it's an amount you can manage)
  4. (Yeah, that might be a good idea)
  5. She was surprised to see the newcomer taking initiative. Many of the forgotten she'd known had been helpless, with no question as to why they'd ended up here. But this nicheling was different, unafraid of walking his own path. That was dangerous here. It had been the brave, the independent and the desperate who'd been foolish enough to stray beyond the familiar area. And then the rest had gone looking for them. She'd have to keep this one out of trouble. On that thought she picked up her pace and trotted after him.
  6. (Wow getting some sleep really too a toll on my writing abilities lol)
  7. -Yes, I think you're right... she said before getting lost in thought. Where did those two come from? Why didn't he tell me he was going out? -Fangs! she called out, well aware of the fact that the others were too far to hear her.
  8. - He's gone this way. I'm not sure how long he's been out. He might still be close by. They reached the edge of the swamp and she looked around, spotting not only Fangs, but two others as well.
  9. (I'm gonna go to bed but you two can start up a conversation or something if you want)
  10. (A bit outdated since they made it down the hill already but I still want to post this)
  11. "I've heard others describing something similar. And memory flashes do happen from time to time, at least for you newer ones." Again, despite it having been almost obvious from the beginning, he found himself jealous of this spirit's recovery speed. He'd hoped for someone who could share his experiences. He knew this was wrong to wish for and that he should be happy for the them. He'd be a terrible person for hoping that someone had had to go through the same things he did. He shouldn't wish his fate on anyone. And besides, plenty of spirits had gone through what he did. It was just that none of them had made it back. There were others that had it worse and he should do try his best to prevent more suffering. His thoughts were interrupted when he noticed another figure out the corner of his eye. One of the newcomers he'd met earlier?
  12. "They're the only plants I know aside from grass. There's reeds and even a couple of trees! You don't run into those a lot around here," he said, trying not to sound offended and hiding his jealousy of the fact that this lost spirit had a better grasp of plants than he did.
  13. "Almost. See those tall plants over there?"
  14. As Fangs waited for them to finish, he looked around. The swamp was a lot closer now, he could see the outlines of the few old trees through the mist, which was sort of beginning to clear. There was no sign of the two newly arrived spirits from earlier and he hoped they were together.
  15. (Works just fine! Welcome to the boring nightmare )
  16. "They're small nichelings that grow into big ones over time. Weird, I know. Some others claim that even we were babies at some point! I find that a bit hard to believe"
  17. (Yep!) (The image part isn't really a requirement anymore as long as you provide a good description)
  18. "I have no idea what they look like either. I think it's come up in a conversation before and someone mentioned the were blue. Unfortunately I don't have much of a grasp on what that's like, either. They must be quite big to be able to carry a baby. What would they even do with one anyways? Teach it to fly?"
  19. He noticed them looking around. They're curious about their surroundings. Good. Then a less pleasant alternative came to his mind: Or are they about to wander off? It didn't seem likely, but just in case it was true, he tried to strike up a conversation again. "So... What did you two talk about back there?"
  20. (Maybe worms have their own realm of the forgotten? XD)
  21. Soon they were close enough to see the swamp in the distance even trough the fog. He picked up his pace and started trotting down the hill, but then realised he should probably wait for his companion and slowed down. Fangs had so many questions. He wanted to ask what it was like and how much their experiences differed. Did they remember anything from before? What daylight or bright colors looked like? The smell of fresh air? Birdsong? The sensation of being alive, actually taking in air to breathe and feel it flow through your body, rather than just for the sake of communicating? Those were all things that - at least according to what others had told him - new arrivals missed. But his past life was gone. This eternal twilight, the dark sky and the endless dead landscape were all he'd ever known. Even most of the things from before he got lost that had still taken place in this realm he knew only from Guiding having told him. Of course familiar descriptions and situations being brought up over and over again had awaked something, but it wasn't the clear picture it had once been. Perhaps that was why he didn't feel the same urgency to remember his life others did? He didn't know what he was missing out on, and was content with the way things were now. Did this spirit feel the same way, or was it different for them? How strong a part did time play in what could or could not be recovered? They were clearly recovering faster than he had, which made sense considering they had clearly been here for less time, but did that also affect how much could be recovered? But his questions had to wait. The spiky spirit was clearly in no condition to answer and even if they were, Fangs wasn't sure they'd be willing to talk about it. He himself had never even told Guiding the full truth of his experience. Right now he had to get this disoriented nicheling safely to an area where there was less of a chance of wandering off. And it wasn't as if being all the way out here made him exactly comfortable either. The idea of slipping back into that void terrified him even more than the thought of Guiding yelling at him. (Sorry for wall of text, I just really like introspection ^^')
  22. (Yeah, all the bugs here are sort of... ambience? Wether they're real/"alive" or not is up to debate. Some nichelings choose to think they're real just to feel less lonely, but there's no real ecosystem in this absurdly obscure spirit realm)
  23. (Because they're dead and this place is like a very boring nightmare)
  24. (There might be something that smells like it around. Ghost sensations are also not uncommon here)
  25. (Unfortunately food, like a lot of nice things, doesn't exist here. This can be a very though thing for some spirits to deal with and Guiding recalls some of her lost friends chewing on grass or trying to catch bugs to mimic the sensation of eating)
