Fangs watched the two enthusiastic nichelings with an invicible smile and turned back to face the spiky spirit. "So... do you remember anything?" he asked while trying to make himself seem as non-threatening as a shadow with glowy eyes could be ( @Chiyanna) -

"The closest source I know of is at the swamp, but there is a small stream over that way" he pointed his tail at an undefined direction somewhere on his left. "And don't worry about the name thing. We'll fix you up with a nickname soon enough!" -

"What gave it away? Was it the fangs?" -

(I've personally imagined that some form of collision exists, but that does sound cool. Maybe the lost are sort of ghostly as well? So yep, the paw can go through for the sake of the rule of cool) -

Guiding awoke to the same dark landscape she'd known for eternity. Sleep was little more than a way to pass time here, with dreams usually being absent, save from the times following a memory flash, and she hadn't had one since Fangs returned. That was a long time ago. But she still slept to distract herself from her reality. She slowly got up, stretched, yawned and looked around. She was forgetting something, a feeling not uncommon here. What could it be? Was there a trail she was supposed to patrol for newcomers (not that there usually were any)? Had someone gone missing and needed to be looked for? Then it hit her. Fangs was supposed to be sleeping next to her. -

As he was trying to make sense of the strange nicheling in front of him he heard pawsteps in the dry grass behind him. He turned around to greet the new arrival while making sure to keep one ear directed to the spirit who he'd followed here -

His instincts told him to move away, but knowing there was no way to really hurt someone here, he forced himself to stay put. Some spirits preferred non-verbal communication, perhaps this was a form of it? -
Yep, Magic hasn't been here for a while

Fangs noticed he'd got the spirit's attention. Determined, he kept going. As the silhouette bacame clearer, something about the shape felt familiar. Had they met before? Or was this a new spirit who just looked like someone he'd known. It was hard to tell in this place. He reached the top of the hill, stopping a comfortable lenght away, not wanting to scare the other spirit away. -

(Don't worry about the drawing, just text is fine or you can request someone in the fanart section like Chiyanna did) -

Fangs took off running, occasionally turning his head to make sure the swamp was still there. As he got closer to the figure he could make out spikes and a long snout. He turned to look back again and slowed down to a walking speed. The thick mist had covered his view of home. If he turned back now, he'd still know where to go. But he was too close to this new spirit to give up now. He kept approaching the unfamiliar nicheling, trying not to think of what Guiding would say when he returned. If he found the way back. "Hello?" -

He thought about going back. Guiding would kill him if she found out he'd ventured that far off all by himself. He turned around to look at the swamp. Surely he'd know the way back. Spirits used to come this far all the time. He looked back at the hill. The eyes were still there. "Hello?" he tried calling out, but realised he was too far away. A cloud of mist floated past, covering the nicheling momentarily. Fangs made his decision. Guiding would kill him if he ventured off alone. But if he went now, he wouldn't be alone. -

Fangs awoke from his foggy, dreamless slumber. He wondered for a moment, trying to find a reason for this. The swamp was dark as usual, with a thick mist hanging in the air being the only notable weather condition. It was quiet aside from the sound of the swarming bugs. Still, in a way he couldn't explain, there was a shift in the air. Something was different. He got up, careful not to wake up Guiding. She'd just worry about him getting lost like she always did when he went out by himself. Her worry was pointless. He wouldn't wander off. Not again. Not after he'd already lost himself once. Besides, he didn't have a reason to go anywhere. Everything beyond the hills was just the same dull landscape over and over again. Even if he were to run into someone, they'd be a lost cause and he'd be lost himself before ever having the chance to lead them back home. Guiding's company was all he needed. He only hoped she'd feel he was enough as well. As he got up the hill the reason for the change of athmosphere became apparent. Off in the distance stood a shadowy figure with a glowing pair of eyes. (wow my rp skills have really rusted since the last thread lol) -
