    What will the next update bring for Niche?

    Personally, I would really like new animals to fill the gaps in the ecosystems like large herbivores, feline carnivores, more water dwellers and some smaller creatures that can change the layout of the island a bit. But what I would like the most, as sort of a FINAL BIG update, would be a huge island that would take a very long time to explore. It would have every different biome, with savannah, grassland and jungle on the lowlands, and snow on the peaks. Then, a decent amount of ocean tiles. Maybe, every few days, a small whale, like a tiny whale island, could come and stay for a few days in the ocean, allowing you to get on its back for extra resources. Every single creature could spawn on this island, and there could be a few new ones in a new volcano or cave biome at the center of the island. Finally, there could be a true challenge mode implemented. It would not change the game a lot, but it would alter the behavior and abilities of all creatures, and make the game more of a challenge. There have been many cool ideas for a hard mode, like falling islands, invasive species that would try to take over the island, or making it so other animals can change their abilities over time and adapt to your nichelings. An update like this would be great for old players who need something to really freshen the game

    Inari was born into a tribe living on the Archipelago, where great injustice was happening. The cracker jaws were considered lesser, doomed to spend their entire lives slaving under trees. The venom fanged creatures were powerful and dangerous, they were blessed with the ability to eat from the poisonous berry bushes.

    The queen of the venom fangs gave birth to a beautiful baby, an image of what was perfect to the tribe. She was adorned with the dangerous fangs, a crown of antlers upon her head. Her coat was as black as night and her eyes were a bright blue. She had beautiful silver stripes, overall proving herself as the next queen. But the mother queen had no time to be overjoyed, she had to return to her mate, leaving Inari with a cracker jaw. This would prove to be her biggest mistake.

    Perhaps the lowly creature moved away to crack an acorn that was just out of reach, or he wanted to see the venom dynasty crumble... Either way, a bluebird swooped down and plucked the innocent Inari out of the nest before she could even open her eyes. This sparked a great outrage, and the cracker jaw was banished, he would be executed if he was ever to return. Inari was the first Taken.

    She became queen of the In-Between, which is like my Niche version of purgatory. The inhabitants of the In-Between are mostly Taken, but they can also be the children of mothers who died while pregnant. Other inhabitants of the In-between include Defender Bears and wandering Nichelings. 

    When a baby is taken from the nest, my creatures try not to dispair too much. They are under the watchful eye of Queen Inari. She doesn't reincarnate, instead it is said that her spirit lingers in protective mothers or caregivers.

    So... Whats next for this wonderful community? Is this update the final one? Or is there more coming? I heard about more insects being added in the future, But i'm not sure if it was true. And then there are the new sandbox options. Will they be expanded to other creatures? (Will fast balance bears be posible)

    Now that I think about it, rogue males are going to function differently. When a Nicheling/OH meets a rogue male, they will be tormented by memories of the human world, and then when they wake up they will find a baby Nicheling next to them. Rogue males are kind of going to be like evil spirits, but many believe them to be the Nicheling form of whatever brought them here. Maybe they are.

    WHY DOES EVERYONE THINK ROGUES ARE EVIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLL?!?!?

    Watching some of the posts like "share your favorite nichelings!" and things like that gave me an idea. Here, you can share the genetic codes of your nichelings, but only the genes, not the nicheling itself. Then, we would have to guess that nicheling's appearance based on the genes we can see. After the nicheling's appeaeance is guessed correctly, you can share a picture of it.

    Ew. That hellish grin, those piercing eyes and glaring mask. Downright demonic. Whoever said the devil wouldn't find you first?

    We have our first contestant! He certainly has a good costume. But he needs a name. I'll call him Mr cuddles for now.

    Yeah, toxic body can be the key to victory! However, there are certain other body-pattern combinations that can absolutely outclass toxic body in this challenge. However toxic body is much easier to get.

    Well, the other day Aetherskye gave me a really cool idea. Basically, in this challenge you have to make a nicheling that resembles the Diablo Cojuelo from the dominican carnival as much as possible. You could also try to make one that looks like The carnival's lechón. Also, because valentine's day is close too, you will earn extra points if you make a lechón /diablo cojuelo, that also embodies the spirit of valentine's day! The winner will be personally congratulated by the great dodomingo himself! To participate in this contest/challenge, post a pictures of your contestant here before February 10th. The winner will be chosen in a poll afterwards!
