  1. So, returned to Niche after a long time of having not played it. Decided to pick up an old story mode I had done, and the background was all black and white. What does this indicate, I don't remember any such thing.
  2. Yeah, I was definately not thinking about having this be a required thing.
  3. It would be great if we could set multiple as well, or just set specific ones not to breed.
  4. AI needs to be optional (because sometimes, like if you have that situation where you have a female with the perfect genes to be bred with every male, you really don't want her to do much but sit there and maybe if a male doesn't have enough energy she can use hers but other than that not much to do but sit in the nest). But if you could turn on AI that would make managing a lot of nichelings less of a chore, and it would also be a prerequisite for my own suggestion to work about Spore style AI.
  5. So, similar but not the same as another idea, what about a system where after a certain number of days, a tribe will be saved. On another game, after the same number of days, your old pack will migrate to your current island as a rival pack. Members of this other pack will not join yours. Idk about aggressiveness, maybe make that an option when they are saved the first time. Ideally, it would be nice if pack saves could be attached, here on the forums for challenges and stuff. But if not no biggy.
  6. While it is cool that there is a challenges option on the forum, I think it would be really cool if a server stored player-made challenges in sandbox that you could sign up for. It would also be cool if it could show the number of players that have attempted a given challenge, the number that have succeeded, and the number that have abandoned the challenge (or failed if it has limited attempts). What I imagine is that the host sets all the settings, and when you click on the challenge it lets you know what the settings are, then when you confirm it, it will create a game with all the correct settings.
  7. It would be nice if you could set island difficulty as one of your victory settings. Right now I use 20 members, 500 days, or both (not simultaneous) for victory, but this is much, much easier to achieve on an easy island than a challenging one.
  8. I really like this idea!
  9. If combined with the suggestion about having options to adjust sandbox mode and how it is played, sure. Personally, however, I would turn it off. Afaik, no so thing exists irl, and skewed male/female ratios are a real problem in some cases, at least for humans. Sometimes when you flip a coin 8 times, you get 6 heads just because chance is weird that way. I like it that way, and it doesn't hurt gameplay at all from my perspective, but I can see why it would bother others.
  10. A similar idea was mentioned in another thread, but that was with immunities giving bonuses. I like this idea better.
  11. I like this idea, and for a specific addition as mentioned elsewhere I like the idea of being able to adjust the total number of immunities to be playable with more genetic options or fewer.
  12. I like the suggestion with this condition. Right now immunities are well balanced in terms of not having too many or too few (though having more or fewer immunity types to choose from might be an interesting option for difficulty adjustment, I might have to make that an official suggestion). This threatens to mess with a lot of that, but personally playing sandbox I don't feel that being a little too hot or too cold is too much of an issue right now, especially for a big pack where you can compensate by just having more members performing actions. A risk of illness would make it pretty scary.
  13. There is the potential for this to be exploited, but I am not against it. Personally what I would do is actively try to get my females to mate with any that showed evidence of being an "aggressive male," and any offspring that didn't turn out well I just leave to them. I would focus only on protecting my own. For more something more common and more threatening perhaps, I suggest an elaboration that the aggressive male only attacks those that are not his own, or lack a certain genetic similarity. While this is ideal gameplay-wise, however, I suspect programming for something like that would be a bear. So either you have something exploitable, or you have something that might be more work than it is worth programming-wise, I don't know anything about programming so that is just a personal suspicion.
  14. Yeah, it would be a nice feature to toggle. It actually changed the way I played when I realized they just ran away, because at first I didn't really bother to defend my females against them since I figured that I had more to lose by having my strong ones get in a fight then have a few extra offspring that consume some extra resources and can't contribute much, especially when I am well stocked on food and old age is more the threat than lack of food. Though similar to what Jojo said, it should be based on whether the rogue can take you or not. Though personally I would add that in addition to what genes are present, total strength count should be considered as well. Even without any special genes, a rogue with 1 strength probably wouldn't want to mess with a 7 strength, that would be suicide. Better to try and sneak in when your members that can actually fight are out of energy.
  15. I always thought it would be cool to have an archive for your favorite creatures that you have bred or, if combined with the creative mode suggestion, made. If combined with the suggestion to have a creative mode where you can just choose genes to put something together, it would be cool to have two separate archives, one for those you bred in the context of a game, and another for creatures that you built in creative mode if combined with that suggestion. Ideally, you would be able to get a 3D view like in older games like Super Mario Smash Brothers Melee for the trophies. Even better would be animations, but just the archive itself is the core of the suggestion. Steam screenshots are nice, but it would be cool to be able to do more with the really cool ones you end up with. Furthermore, an extension of this suggestion which isn't at all a core part of the suggestion, would be the ability to export your file for 3D printing. To be clear, the core of the suggestion is just that you can save some that you really like to be viewed later. All the rest is just my rambling about the cool things that might be doable with it later. Saving a picture isn't quite the same as saving the 3D asset.
