  1. OK, let me explain. First of all, SimEarth wasn't like SimLife was, or is. SimLife was more of a game, whereas SimEarth was actually a simulation - set the initial conditions, and see what happens. Yes, there were ways to interfere with the way things were going, but that wasn't the main point of it, as in the case of a game. That's why even the creators described it as a computer "toy" rather than a "video game". But yes, I guess what I would be asking for, similar to those wanting a more "sandboxy" sandbox mode, is maybe a simulator mode. As for the guy who says body parts are all that matters, well, that shows utter ignorance of modern studies of wildlife, both urban and in the wild. Intelligence is being selected for HARD in the modern world, especially amongst those critters most in contact with humans, or affected by human activity. I saw someone ask for a city biome, and that's exactly where intelligence comes in. Now imagine an urban wildlife simulator with an intelligence mechanic ... It would be a nice additional feature, I think. As long as you're not an unwitting devotee of the philosophy of Descartes and think your fellow creatures are nothing but automatons. Hhis math was good, but his philosophy was bloody horrible.)
  2. I think trying to impose multiplayer on games not intended to have it is a mental illness.
  3. Any way to make intelligence stats a thing? Granted, it's up to us to do most of the evading and problem solving, and most people can't see what good it'd do for something without Nimble Fingers (because of the conceit that the only reason to have intelligence is for it to lead to the technological path of survival .. but all specialists wonder why everyone just doesn't go their way), but it's the one thing seriously lacking in animal breeding/handling games; for some reason, I hear even JP:Evolution lacks it, where it should really be a thing. But I see Nichlings with Nimble Fingers walking around on two legs all the time, but they never think of picking up a stick or a rock when a pack of Bearyenas show up, no matter how bad they infest the island. And yes, chimps do it; monkeys are known to throw crap in captivity only because the researchers and zookeepers tend not to give them anything more effective to throw; and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to one day hear a Torontonian claiming to have been stabbed in the foot or shin by an irritated raccoon with something sharp s/he found. (Check this out: https://g.redditmedia.com/aPFdEHXSrBjBCUbP7dfiadtGhFcqg9TSvzLtJCl1Y58.gif?fm=mp4&mp4-fragmented=false&s=27d251bff45e73e5aec29b11496eb202) I guess in a way, I kind of miss the idea of a computer "toy" as opposed to a computer "game". SimEarth was more of a toy than a game, but still terribly engaging, and it's still one of my favourite "games" (toys) of all time, as well as a pretty good simulator for the time (and for running on a 286).
