Missing 1.1.4, just me?
Spacestar TheThundersuncat replied to sol.roseya478's topic in Discussion & Feedback
It's not a beta, but the normal version. You get that by opting out of all betas. The newest requires the password NicheTesterBranch. More info on each sub-update can be found in the announcements tab https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/forum/6-announcements/ Most bugs have been sorted out, but the new defender bears might attack without being provoked. The cheat explore all fields also now removes grass permanently, forever. Aside from that, many issues with the console and other entities have been solved, so there's not much to fear.... Except losing old savegames. Back them up if they're from before whale island, or start over to be sure.- 1 reply

Not killed, but badly wounded, unless you count test runs and AHVHC. An elder died and some pregnant nicheling by accident, as I forgot to move her Still, they sometimes got pretty close to the nursery Was repelled by children and that ine pawed derpsnout. Much like his equally derpy and one pawed mom, he attracted an inordinate amount of wanderers and calmed any vengeful bear.

Mother-daughter clones. Jay and Shrewspirit (awful random names). Really pretty, though. Sunstar and Little Fox Their great-grandchildren

What's your opnion on defender bears
Spacestar TheThundersuncat replied to Lilytuft's topic in Discussion & Feedback
Impossible to tell, either way. What has me worried is that philo hasn't been able to reproduce the bugs. However, they do not perform in an uniform way at times, even with the same tribe. How do you fix that? That bear will be a nuisance for a long time... -
Defender Bear random attacks
Spacestar TheThundersuncat replied to PhysKat's post in Bugs version 1.1.7 (Tester branch)
I'm not sure why, but in my tests, when a target has had a child and stays in the nest, the defender will spare her. After that, instead of giving two nichelings one swipe each for their crimes, a single target will receive two. Other people had their babies killed. Some breeding/children mechanic is definitely suspect, but what exactly goes wrong is hard to tell. I've had different defenders displaying different behaviours, which does not help, but showcases some underlying issues. -
Who also had decent camouflage in one case and stealth in the other. Still, if they were isolated, that was some good luck, poor senses and all.

What's your opnion on defender bears
Spacestar TheThundersuncat replied to Lilytuft's topic in Discussion & Feedback
I don't have the bug which has them attack children, but when they hit someone, team 0-1 strenght is usually a target. I hate that they attack other nichelings instead of the aggressor. However, they do make the game considerably harder. You won't be on top of food chain for a bit longer with them around. With all bugs fixed and a better targetting mechanic, they'd propably even be okay. -

It's likely, though, that the defender observed him hunting. Their range is 5 tiles, while his is only 3. -
Should I be concerned?

Also had that after deaging an adult to childhood. The update brought about three new bugs -
No. I'm not sending one of the few nichelings I care about to the hunger games. Please remove her
-
Yes, because one is chance based, while the other is a scenario where food slaves will be killed first, then some period until the slowest of the strong nichelings die. The winner is set up from the start. Either way, I'm not sending poor little Fox. Someone can fill the space
-
How's that fair? The venomous ones here will be stuck collecting food for the strong nichelings who are bad at it, while receiving no benefit themselves. I'm not sending Little Fox to be a food slave and then be mauled, likely after being rogued.

Hate to say it, but your best shot is whale island or first snow. Not sure what the island with blocking vines is called, but my escape was usually that, getting to sleepy reeds, finding whale island again and going straight for Crossing. The easier snow islands didn't have northern ports, either, only the jungle and Summer Mountains (hard).

Jojo's Niche Hunger Games Extra Round is here!!!
Spacestar TheThundersuncat replied to Jojo's topic in Discussion & Feedback
Ah. I accidently trained our two toms to play 'blanket-monster'. One hides beneath the blanket and shoots out, while the other tries to take swipes. I guess it made sense for them as one was much larger and stronger than the other. Can't trust a cat within a blanket, now, though, unless you're up to play. -
Not my nichelings!

For what it's worth, Fortnite isn't that bad. Sure, some elements are unappealing, but in comparison to similar games, it seems decent. Haven't played it, though, not a fan on shooters or multiplayer.
