Eplfaylun shoos away Midorifunu's father. She is her precious daughter and hers alone. Currently there are only 3 young females in the tribe, and 2 older ones. This means any daughters very important to the future of the tribe. Ukte passes away from old age, and his partner Eplfaylun becomes the oldest member of the tribe. Hence, she is the leader until her death. Ukyeduhsk and Faynni are the proud parents of a pink baby girl, Kyeni. Her name is a combination of the 2nd syllable from her dad's name and the last 2 letters of her mom's name. She has her father's pitch black eyes. Juujk, now age 39, had a mid-life crisis and has gone out into the bush to rediscover himself. And the meaning of life. If he ever finds it. A bulky rogue male struts around the tribe's territory. The main issue with him is that no one is strong enough to fend him off. He eventually wanders off into the tall grass, having had no success with finding a female in the tribe. The duck-bill brothers are told by the rest of the tribe that their father went to buy milk. They don't question this and grow up to be productive teenagers. Yepujku (14 days old) helps collect berries while Unskphud (8), the younger and paler one, patrols the area. Their mom, Fayaeplslu (47) makes sure that they're looked after, and their older half-brother, Uckwyu (22), makes sure they are well-behaved. Sluqesh (10) is just off to the sides, picking berries on occasion, when she's not playing with the rabbils. Epifaylun encounters a bearyena and her cub. She fights valently but is no match for the bearyena at her old age. Fayaeplslu takes the reigns of the tribe now. Her first order of business is to flee from the bearyena that took down Epifaylun. (n.b.: We've passed 100 days!) Meanwhile, the snoozebugs get Faynni Ukte and Sluqesh. Faynni is just a bit sleepy, but Sluqesh takes a nap in the mud. Get your snout out of the mud, Sluqesh. The bearyena closes in on Kyeni. Fayaeplslu rushes in to help, but is taken down by the bearyena. Kyeni is in danger. Faynni manages to pull through her fatigue and gives the bearyena a good smack. She falls and Kyeni is safe. (*insert Faynni hugging Kyeni*) Midorifunu, unaware of what had transpired, tamed the baby bearyena, much to the others dismay. She, however, flaunted the rules and did as she pleased. The baby was now in her control. The duck-bill brothers find their father by accident. Awkwardly acknowledging his presence, but not knowing what to do with him. He didn't seem to have picked up any milk either. But with Fayaeplslu gone, Juujk is the natural heir to the leader role in the tribe. He, of course, declines this, saying that Ukyeduhsk Guuck should be the leader. Everyone in the tribe agrees with this. Oquligi Ukte finds Asiri, an interesting wanderer. He promptly invites her into the tribe. Not a moment after joining the tribe, she quickly pounces on a rabbil and eats it. Seems she is quite the wild child. Faynni Ukte is past due on her pregnancy and tries to find a nest to give birth in. Uckwyu Oquche and Sluqesh Hiway decide that they want to start a family together.

Hieshslyo had a dream. She had a beautiful cream-coloured baby girl with horns, but she suddenly disappeared. In another dream, he had a blind baby. This filled her with a lot of unease for her first baby. Everything must be perfect. They have their first child, a beautiful baby girl with grey ram horns and brown dots. Her name is Aeslaplnni, and her nickname is “Hope”. Now Aeplnie had strange dreams. He dreamed she had another orange baby girl. In a few other dreams it was a derp-snouted baby boy with a no paw. In another, the baby disappeared. This had never happened to her with her other daughters. Was this a sign? The days passed. Aeplnie had her first son. A boy named Lidhe. Perhaps her worries were unfounded after all. A bearyena came from the east. Luckily, Aepline, Feynni, and Dhephud were equipped for the task of bringing him down, and they collected the spoils from their fallen foe. Another rainy day, another baby. Dhephud’s first son’s name is Wyuyed, and he looks a lot like Lidhe, who is technically his half-uncle, except he has strong brown ram horns. The next morning, Rain feels very tired and sluggish. Did she eat too much the previous night? Or perhaps it was from spending the night in the swampy area, where all the Snoozeflies swarmed. Either way, she would not be able to do very much today. Besides Rain, as well as Wyuyed and Lidhe, who are still just babies, everyone else was able to pick up some berries for the next day. The subsequent day, Hieshyslyo and Dhephud had their second son, Unskuesh. He had cream fur like the rest of his family, but had his mother's snout. They wanted their second son to have a different name than the rest of the tribe. They used the names of wanderers who had joined the tribe, Unskuhskli and Eshyow, and combined them into a name to honour their legacy. Lidhe and his mother Aeplnie stumble across a beautiful wanderer named Eileithyia! They quickly ask her to join their tribe and she agrees. Naturally, Lidhe takes a fancy to Eileithyia. Perhaps they would be a good couple? A bearyena sneaks up and ambushes Hieshslyo. She calls out for help, and her mate, Dhephud, as well as Feynni and Aeplnie come to her rescue. Wyuyed and Unskuesh move back to safety, only separated from the bearyena by the adults. Hieshslyo and Dhephud are both killed by the bearyena, leaving poor Unskuesh by his lonesome. His sister, Hope, rushes to his side while Aeplnie and Feynni fight off the bearyena. Meanwhile, a rogue male inches himself towards Beryl. Her brother swats him away as a sign that he should leave immediately. Aeplnie and Feynni, having just lost the leader of the tribe, Dhephud, were now in charge of the tribe. As mothers themselves, they felt pity for the baby bearyena that was left behind. They were also not lacking in food, so they invited the baby to stay with them. Perhaps he will be an assist to them in the future, or maybe their downfall? The rogue male approaches Beryl again. He's very persistent, but Lidhe take another swat at him, and the rogue bolts. This island is absolutely crawling with bearyenas. This time, it targeted the youngest! Unfortunately for her, she chose the centre of the tribe, so the adults quickly defeated her. Unskuesh grows up, and Feynni and Aeplnie, who are now co-leaders of the tribe, can be seen pampering their new "pet". However this peace was not to last... To be continued.

Maybe it's due to lower fertility in your tribe? (In comparison, rogue males have maximum fertility and due to the higher chance of mating success, was able to mate with your Grace before Lunch Time.)

Feynni catches a rabbit, and they all feast on berry and meat. In this seemingly safe new home. A rogue male decides to pester them a bit. Somehow, Aeplnie gives birth to a beautiful big-nosed baby girl, Eplaeslepl. It is raining this day, so her nickname will be “Rain”. Feynni finds a permanent nest and more berries. So does Rain. Dhephud shoos away a rogue male from his sister. Just a normal day in hell. Another rainy day, another beautiful orange baby girl with big nose. This one has nimble paw and no paw, so her nickname will be Beryl. Her full name is Fayfeyapl. Rain almost gets taken by a bird of prey. Close call. Dhephud leaves his sister to babysit his new half-sisters. Dhephud finds a wandering female, Hieshslyo, who was tempted by the smell of berries in their territory. This beauty is now his partner. Aeplnie has her third daughter with Ukkuipo, who looks exactly like her older sister. Her nickname is “Gemini”. Feynni attacks her rogue male suitor, and the family seems to be doing well, for now. The dreaded day arrived. Ukkuipo has died from old age. But Aeplnie is pregnant with yet another child, and Hieshslyo is pregnant with her first. Will post their children in the next post! Will the Maple family survive on this surprisingly treacherous Grass Mingle island? Stay tuned…

Faynni, now an adult, is starting a family with the handsome Ukyeduhsk, who became an adult a bit before she did. As 1st cousins only through their mother’s side, they likely have fewer common immunity genes than their other cousins. Ukyeduhsk swats away the several rogue males roaming around. To differentiate between members in this tribe, they will use last names based on their lineage. Hopefully that'll make them easier to tell apart. It seems Epifaylun is also pregnant! Hopefully she and Ukte will have their third child. Ukte encounters a bearyena while searching for food. Oops. But it doesn't attack him! He grabs some food and "runs" for it. (Despite his webbed feet.) Epifaylun had an adorable baby daughter named Midorifunu Rogue! Midorifunu's biological father. When did that happen? 😂 Well at least this adds some genetic diversity to our tribe. Just have to breed out that no paw. Instead of the last name Rogue, maybe I should make a new family name! Any suggestions? I'm thinking Ramm or Rustyhorne. Next post, we'll finally see the first member of the next generation. The great grandchildren, the fourth generation of family living on this island, may make or break this tribe. Hopefully they keep surviving!

An update to Sky's AHVHC! It's AHVHC 2.0! 🤩 Sky even included the sandbox settings in her comment on this thread.

Would be interesting to see what would happen if you did this but for two Nichelings with the complete opposite genes. For example, the male has hemophilia but the female has no hemophilia; one has albinism (2 copies of albinism gene) and the other has no albinism at all; etc. And then do it AGAIN (see if they are different between different runs).

Oh no, your Nicheling is just getting ready for hibernation. You don't need to collect any food during this time. Just keep playing as usual! 🙃 What is that very large bearyena?

Part 5. The bearyena retreats! They also discover a new friend, a male named Rkyedheju (the pale yellow one on the right). But they’re low on food. They’ll certainly die at this rate if they don’t do something. They find a new berry bush, and keep watch as a baby bearyena patrols the southern area. Ukkuipo and Eshyow have a second child, a son named Dhephud. He has a derp snout and a funny little peacock tail! Now that Eshyow has only a few days left in her, she kills the closest bearyena she sees with her 2 sharp claws, making him neatly fall into a pile of meat. (Oops, not strictly conforming to the AHVHC rules, again.) But we need this food! Yet another bearyena appears. They really can’t seem to catch a break. They decide to flee south, despite yet another bearyena there. Eshyow hits him twice, but he doesn’t fall. They wait until the next day. Eshyow dies from old age, and Rkeyheju is targeted and killed afterwards. (We survived thanks his sacrifice!) Now it’s just Ukkuipo and his two children. They must escape safely. For some reason, the bearyena goes right past the three of them, they run to the west immediately as to not be detected. There, they meet Ukkuipo’s second partner, Aeplnie, a lovely red derp snout with one no paw (just like his mother). [Close up of Ukkuipo (1st and only surviving child of Maple), Aeplnie (2nd wife of Ukkuipo), Feynni (oldest daughter), and Dhephud (youngest son). Note that they all have black eyes, except for Aeplnie.] The bearyena is in hot pursuit and they must find a new source of food. They settle for the night in a jungle-like area, nervously waiting for the next day... To be continued.

Ukkuipo is now an adult. As the head of the family, Maple tells him to take his sister and go north. Surely they can live better if they run away from the bearyenas in the south. Maple smells another familiar scent. It’s a wandering female named Eshyow, who has melanism and a derp snout. She invites her in as a partner for her son, helping the three of them get away from the bearyenas and putting herself in harm’s way. Sadly, Maple was killed by the bearyena. The tribe of three head north. Fortunately, Ukkuipo finds a nest with a dodomingo in it. Now if only it would just leave the nest! The daughter (one wing) was brutally killed by a bearyena during their escape to the north. Ukkuipo and Eshyow try to have their first child while being pursued by the bearyenas. A rogue male enters their territory and harasses them. It rains, and they rejoice because their food had been running low! Eshyow shoos the rogue male with her sharp claws, and Ukkuipo gathers as much food as he can carry. They have a daughter named Feynni, a yellow derp-snouted child with one claw and one runner’s paw. They suspect they may have to run again because of the faint scent of bearyena fur. A crabbit mockingly occupies her nest. The bearyena has caught up. Is this a new one, or the same one? Either way, they must flee immediately and leave behind their new home. Eshyow gives the bearyena a good slap and runs away. Will our small tribe survive?
