  1. I was thinking that on islands like the burning savanna there could be snakes that hide in the undergrowth and attack your creatures, and possibly poison them. The snakes could live in holes such as stagmole holes, and might attack the stagmoles to get in, and leave about 2 food on the hole. Killing them could give 2 food, but maybe you should need resistance to poison to eat it. It should be pretty easy to kill, but rather hard to find, and you should be pretty close to it to actually sense or attack it. They should also attack other creatures, not just nichelings, so they might attack rabbits or something.
  2. Maybe you could add a new gene where you can have egg laying creatures that have to guard their eggs from ground creatures but they would hatch as an adolescent and you wouldn't have to worry about the bird for them? Rogue males could also try to steal your eggs to have a child of their own. I was also thinking of how there could be some reptilian tails or bodies, which would add some protection and lots of heat resistance, but no cold resistance whatsoever.
  3. I was thinking that you could maybe add tides so that creatures that can't breathe underwater can still explore some of those areas? Then maybe fish and other underwater creatures could get trapped above water and you could eat them. Also, in the archipelago islands there could be a sand bridge or something that gets uncovered when the tide is especially low, and your creatures could move across it to get to another island in the archipelago.
