  1. no, but it wouldn't necessarily have to be restricted only to horn or antler types based on animals that actually shed irl. a deer could, theoretically, evolve to have antlers reminiscent of a goat's that would shed, so it's not like it would be unrealistic
  2. it's on the front page right above this suggestion, but here you go
  3. I don't see why it wouldn't make sense for ram horns but would make sense for the other horn types such as the savannah horns
  4. perhaps instead of being a togglable feature that only works for certain horn and antler types, it could be a new gene slot? there could be one allele for no shedding cycle, and one allele for a shedding cycle that would be applicable to all antler and horn types (other than perhaps the antennae)
  5. aaaah no I meant the second thing about spiders and snakes being cute lmao I have also never eaten snails and I don't think I'd ever want to
  6. may I add snails to the list
  7. @The guiding spiritidk if you've seen this before, it was on the front page recently, but it might be kind of relevant? if not then you should make a suggestion for that
  8. got our daily update from Boris a bit under two hours ago, we're now only allowed to leave the house to buy basic necessities (food and the like), get medical assistance and to go to work if we can't work from home. it's no longer advice, it's now being enforced by the police. cases have also gone up to 6,650 and deaths to 335.
  9. both poisons and venoms are toxic substances (toxins) so the venom delivered by the spines would technically be toxic, although idk if you could describe the spines themself as toxic so I guess venomous would work better from a biological pov also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure all toxins reach our bloodstream regardless of if they're poisons or venoms. a better way of comparing the two would be to compare how they enter our bodies. poisons are injested into the body, either through consumption, inhalation or absorption through the skin, whereas venoms are injected, either through a bite or a sting this is what I had in mind, I maybe didn't make that clear. the idea was that if a nicheling with this gene was attacked by say, a bearyena, the bearyena would end up getting scratched by the spines and the toxins would enter the body that way
  10. I believe that any nicheling with the poisonous trait automatically is poison-resistant because as you said, it would be quite silly for an animal to not be immune to its own toxins. also, I was kind of going for a 10-20 of each, eg. 10 spiky body and 10 poisonous body. just 5 toxic bodies seems a little bit low to me
  11. for anyone interested, here is the skeleton of a jerboa (not sure which species) to show you just how ridiculously long these little guys' legs are
  12. a new hindleg gene which would give nichelings the jumping ability. jumping would work somewhat like flying, allowing nichelings to go over things like rocks and bushes, only they wouldn't be able to fly up to the top of trees. the overall stats would be +4 jumping and +1 swimming. like both wings, they would be unlocked by inviting a nicheling with the gene into your tribe some irl examples: a kangaroo, a quokka, a couple of mountain hares, a jackrabbit, a kangaroo rat, a jerboa and a springhare
  13. a mashup of the toxic body and spiky body inspired by the lionfish it would be a body gene and would have a big row of spines along the back as well as another row on each of the nicheling's sides. like the toxic body, it would disable fur colour and would give the nicheling the same neon colours, but with a white striped pattern on top. it would also disable tails like the spiky body the stats would be +1 spikyness, +2 poisonous and +1 distasteful appearance because it has benefits of both the toxic body and spiky body, it would have to be harder to unlock. it could possibly be unlocked by having a certain number of toxic-bodied nichelings and a certain number of spiky-bodied nichelings in your tribe, something like 10 to 20 might be reasonable?
  14. as of yesterday there were 5,683 cases and 281 deaths in the UK, including an 18 year old who I believe is the youngest person to die from covid-19 so far. I think we're headed for a complete lockdown within the next few days.
  15. pardon me, are you Aaron Birb, sir?
