  1. She was about to speak but something caught her eye. She looked over at Carrion, her eyes wide. She saw blood dripping down her fur, and her eyes opening and closing, though it kept flickering. For a brief moment, a skull appeared over her head. "Do you...do you see that...?"
  2. He kept staring, Snowdove would've thought he was dead is wasn't still breathing. "I think he's ok?" She noticed that most nichelings were outside now, which probably meantthe fire was completely gone now, though it was still raining.
  3. She helped hold him down, making sure he couldn't twist his head around to bite at them. He was small, so it wasn't to hard. He eventually calmed down a bit, stopped screaming and stared blankly at the rock walls.
  4. He thrashed even more, starting to bite and claw at her paws. The other nichelings were starting to stare now. Snowdove carefully got up, walking over. "Need some help?"
  5. He opened his eyes, looking panicked. "Fire...burns...help...burns...help...help, help, HELP, HELP! HELP! HELP!" He started screaming bloody murder, thrashing around wildly in the nest. All the noise woke up Snowdove, blinking the sleep from her eyes. "What the...?"
  6. Suddenly, Flash stirred, groaning. "Burns..." Vissen lifted her head, her eyes wide. "Flash?"
  7. She let out a breath, shaking, and looked at Flash again. "Alright. Thank you, Issi."
  8. She took a deep breath. "I live a jungle called Rain Venom. When I was younger it was me, my mom, my twin sister and my older brother. We had the rest our tribe, but we were really close. It's hard to see the rivers in jungles, because of all the plants, and one day me and my sister were out playing. Our brother climbed up a tree to get some fruit, and...and my sister, just, fell in. No warning. We were still children, so she couldn't swim. When she screamed for help, my brother came down from the tree. He jumped in to get her, and...they both drowned..." She ducked her head, looking like she was trying to hold in tears.
  9. "I was keeping an eye on Flash." She glanced over at him. "I'm really worried. I...I don't think I can lose someone else..." She whispered the last part.
  10. She smiled a bit, but her eyes were empty. She curled up completely, seeming to fall asleep. "How's everything over here?" Vissen walked over. "I heard growling."
  11. She sniffled, trying to wipe her tears. "I don't know...I want mom and dad, but they hate me..." She whispered, curling into herself. She looked up at Issi. "Can I stay with you?"
  12. "I don't know..." She said, still crying. "Why do they keep calling me Carrion? I'm Akriah…"
  13. She snorted. "Us? Oh please. This thing is to disgraceful to even be associated with my bloodline." She turned and snarled at Akriah. "I wish you burned you nuisance. Goodbye, Carrion." She then turned and left, leaving Akriah with tears in her eyes, shaking.
  14. Ria uttered a low growl, digging her claws into the ground. "Try me, tiny. I wouldn't mind ripping your stupid horns off." She spat.
  15. The female nodded, giving a brief glare to Akriah. The male just kept looking at his tribe, eventually walking over to one and sitting down next to her.
  16. Her breathing quickened. "Where-" Just then they came back through the hole, two other nichelings following them. The only female walked up to Akriah. "Mom!" "Hello, Carrion." She said coldly, a blank look on her face. Her father was looking around the shelter, seemingly more concerned with his tribe than his daughter.
  17. She stared for a moment, then looked around, panicked. "Where's mom?" She cried, she was covered in burns, and one covered over half her face.
  18. Akriah stirred a bit, and opened her eyes. "Mom?..."
  19. awww)
  20. She sighed, smiling, and fell asleep with her.
  21. They left without saying thanks, slipping out of the shelter.
  22. There was a pained look on her face, and she rested her head on Rabbitspring's shoulder. "Where the north wind meets the sea There's a river full of memory Sleep, my darling, safe and sound For in this river all is found In her waters, deep and true Lie the answers and a path for you Dive down deep into her sound But not too far, or you'll be drowned Yes, she will sing to those who hear And in her song all magic flows But can you brave what you most fear Can you face what the river knows Where the north wind meets the sea There's a mother full of memory Come, my darling, homeward bound When all is lost, then all is found..."
  23. One turned around, a bit startled. "Her mother and father." The other one spoke up. "Hey, whatever your name is, we have to go get them. Would you mind watching Carrion for a minute?" He said, gesturing to Akriah.
  24. She smiled sadly, before carefully stepping into the nest next to her. "It'll be okay." She whispered, curling her tail around her.
  25. Flash was still asleep, breathing softly. Akriah was shaking, barely awake. Two nichelings talked in hushed whispers. "She probably wont live, she's so young. The one on her face almost melted her eye..." "Well, we should probably tell Ria and Jenka."
