  1. God the way i write sounds like some stupid cliche novel im so sorry-
  2. "Yeah...yeah, you're right..." Snowdove turned to face her, resting her chin on top of Lanasi's head for a brief moment. "But that doesn't mean I'll listen." She whipped around, immediately springing upwards and clawing her way up to the creature's face, slashing at it's eyes. Frantic screams broke out as the tribe tried to pry her off, though it was mostly useless considering how high up she was. She jumped back down, evading the tribe members as they furiously lunged at her. "Come get me you wastes of air!" She hissed, running into the jungle as a crowd bolted after her. Only the creature-swiping blood from it's eyes and half blinded-and Lanasi and Juniper were left. Juniper was shaking like a petrified rabbil at this point, and without thinking, ran the opposite way of Snowdove and into the jungle.
  3. The call rang out pretty loudly in the silence, but it seemed nobody was there. Or maybe there was. Something stared from behind a clump of dead bushes. Jubileze pet the bird a few more times, then put her paw back down and sighed. "I have to go back, Forest... Im sorry. I just don't trust that tribe. I'm...worried about my group, I guess." Thettlethorn eventually stopped coughing, only wheezing a few times and laying sprawled out like a dead rat. "I'm dying, aren't I?..."
  4. "DON'T YOU GET IT?!" She whipped around, finally facing Lanasi. "I WAS NEVER MEANT FOR THIS!" The tribe members were chanting something, but she hardly noticed. "That call that Pathfol-Quosine sent out when we all first met? I didn't even hear it! I was hunting with someone and he heard it! He was freaked out! The only reason I'm even here us because I was curious and stupid!" She violently shook her head, like she had been holding this in for a while. "THIS WAS NEVER MY DESTINY! SOMEHOW I SCREWED UP SO BAD THAT I DENIED DESTINY ITSELF! I WAS NEVER IMPORTANT! I'M JUST A PAIN! YOU AND FLASH AND VISSEN, YOU WERE ALL MEANT FOR SOMETHING! BUT ME?!" Her voice cracked at the end, and tears started welling in her eyes. "PLEASE JUST-JUST LET ME BE USEFUL! LET ME FIX THE MISTAKES I MADE! MAYBE I WAS ONLY EVER MEANT FOR THIS-A SACRIFICE!"
  5. Nothing seemed super odd. Except for the creaking of the trees, that is. Something swung limply in the darkness. "Yeah, I get that part. Then again, not much else to eat in the mountains, I suppose." She started petting the bird too. Pat pat. Thettlethorn looked to Everest, tilting his head. "Can you no-" He was cut off my a sudden coughing fit, collapsing to the ground completely and almost sounding like he eas choking. Good because there's like literally no other good time to say it- Just have Lanasi try to stop her, i guess? Things are about to get BAD-
  6. Well i mean, depends- would you like the plot twist now or later?
  7. Juniper didn't seem to hear her, pressing closer and burying her face in Lanasi's shoulder like a scared child. "Because-because Vissen and Flash, they died for this! They died so we could live and we could stop that horrible monster! I'm just one nicheling, it won't matter if I die! I'll die a hundred times over before I let their sacrifices be in vain!" Snowdove growled, keeping Lanasi and Juniper behind her and locking gazes with the creature.
  8. The path seemed to get even darker, and eventually a clearing came into view, almost more unsettling than the path. A large tree stump surrounded by smaller ones sat in the center. Jubileze finished, and smiled at the bird. "I never thought I would like one of these things. I guess I didn't think to try and communicate with them before." The child blinked at Jerry, then weakly waved back. "I'm Thettlethorn. Are you guys from the group that mom brought here?"
  9. "Where's Jest and Jubileze? They're two of the strongest we have! Where did they go?!" Juniper whispered, crouching down next to Lanasi and starting to hyperventilate. Try as she did to look intimidating, Snowdove was scared out of her mind of this thing. "Lanasi." She said, keeping her gaze on the creature. "If I somehow manage to make an opening, get everyone and run. Find Jest, Everest, Jubileze and everyone else and go." She dug her claws into the ground. "And don't wait for me." It seemed fairly normal at first, but slowly the path became more and more dark. Dead trees lined the sides, and bones started to litter the path. Before long, what looked like an entire body lay on the path, a bluebird picking at it's remains. Jubileze smiled, and started whistling at it, replicating a song from her tribe. The child jolted, whipping his head around to stare at Everest. He was abnormally thin, seeming to barely be able to even keep his head raised. "H...hello? I don't think I've seen you before..."
  10. Aside from the gathering crowd, there was something to be seen. A path lead into the woods, covered by darkness and unknown as to where it leads. Jubileze-being a bird thing herself-made a small chirping noise, hoping to gain the attention of one of the birds. Oops sorry- There was only a single nicheling, seemingly a child, curled up in the corner facing away from Everest.
  11. Snowdove whipped her head around, trying to find an opening, but they were surrounded on all sides. "Dammit!" She hissed, leaping in front of Lanasi to face the creature. "W-what?" Juniper, who had been sitting close by, backed away from everyone, pressing close to Snowdove and Lanasi with her quills spiked up in terror. The...thing stepped forward, until it was towering directly over Snowdove, massive and imposing. "These outsiders have committed a disgusting crime, and so have offered themselves up to a higher purpose." The creature spoke, voice changing pitch every letter. It raised it's head high. "May the time goddess gaze upon this offering and erase the atrocities that have plagued us, as we bring her beings unfit to live."
  12. Whatever that thing was, it didn't say anything, jumping over Jest and landing on the ground, which almost seemed to shake as it landed. It was in the light, but it was gone before he could have gotten a look. Jubileze hesitantly reached out a paw, resting it on the rabbil's back and giving it a pet. "Mother won't show mercy." Kalile said simply, seeming borderline unbothered by everything. Pawsteps came forward, and the tribe scrambled out of the way and bowed their heads as some creature most would only see in their nightmares came forward to stand in front of Lanasi and Snowdove. It looked like a nicheling...vaguely. It had what seemed like four pairs of glowing eyes, all different colors. Six different types of paws came from it's sides, including what seemed to be a giant pair of crabbit claws. It had feathers, though no wings, just feathers scattered in random places. It had three tails, and overall looked like every animal existance was grotesquely melted together. Kalile dipped her head. "Mother has come to us."
  13. In the hole, a massive, looming figure shrouded in darkness stared down at Jest. All that was really visible were bright orange eyes. Jubileze watched, almost fascinated. "Everything back at my home wanted to kill us. I've only seen rabbils a few times, actually."
  14. She seemed a lot more serious than before, narrowing her eyes and standing up straight. "Mother comes out to see them."
  15. A nicheling was climbing down from the tree, briefly looking back up before walking off, giving Jest a strange look. "Gotcha." She smiled-though it was small-and watched a few of the animals. "I take it you don't eat them?" "Maybe..." She didn't sound too sure, fur bristling up as she gazed at all the staring nichelings. Kalile seemed to pop out if nowhere, emerging from the crowd and looking at the rabbil. She made some sort of humming noise and turned to Lanasi. "I told you not to touch the animals."
  16. Snowdove shrugged. "This place is weird." She looked to her left, watching as one of the nichelings climbed the giant tree and into the hole in the trunk. Mostly everyone around them seemed to be staring now.
  17. Juniper didn't try to follow him this time, sitting in the same spot and watching him leave. Jubileze looked up, frantically trying to wipe away a few tears. "Thanks...I would like that. Snowdove followed, dropping the rabbil to sit down for a minute. A few of the tribe members seemed to grow anxious when they saw the prey.
  18. "Don't come any closer!" She hissed, backing away until she felt her back hit a tree. "You're insane!" "Look who's talking." !#$@/*_; Scoffed, narrowing his eyes as he came closer. "What happened to you?" -------------------- "It's purple-green, perhaps?" "Yeah. With a bit of pink." "What do you think it is?" Tether sniffed the air, coughing a bit at the horribly unpleasant scent. "Huh, I didn't know there were any orange plants around here." "There aren't, what do you mean?" He turned his head, squinting to make out a flash of bright orange just a few trees away. "Hm…" "Maybe we should go?" "It's alright. Im comfortable here." ----- "BATISI!" Capst called out, searching for her son through the smoke. She heard a small cough and paused, sighing in relief as she found him curled up next to a bush. "Come on honey, we have to go!" She picked him up and rested him on her back, dashing away to try and find the rest of her tribe. ---------- "Wildfire?!" Zaptide pushed through the smoke, narrowly avoiding a few flames that nearly caught him. He got lost from everyone. He didn't know where his siblings or Chunei or Rogiek were- "Zaptide?!" His head whipped around frantically, searching for his sister. He spotted the top of her horns and ran over, seeing that she was trapped between the fire and a tree, which she couldn't climb due to her crippled paw. "Help me you stupid lump of fur!" That alone almost made him leave her to die. Before he could bite back with anything, something ran by, and in moments Wildfire was tumbling to the ground next to his paws, untouched by the embers. He looked forward, watching as something-someone-appeared from the smoke. "Are you alright?" All he could make out her antlers and a sticky tongue, the rest of the female obscured by the smoke. She didn't wait for Wildfire to answer though. "Come, I can get you out."
  19. Juniper hesitantly walked up to him and sat down. "My sister is dead too..." She whispered, almost inaudible. "Me, no. But the others..." Jubileze sighed. "I can't go back home. My tribemates hate me, and my brother is gone now and I-I have nobody left, he's gone and I have nobody left-" She started rambling, not even stopping to breathe. "He was horrible, so horrible, but he was all I had and I miss him and I-" She finally cut herself off, digging her claws into the ground. "You okay?" Snowdove looked back, glancing for a moment at the camp just a few paces away.
  20. "Oh I..." Juniper stopped for a moment, looking down at her paws. "I'm sorry..." Jubileze glanced away for a moment, instead staring at a rabbil. "We got taken to some tribe that lives here, we might be stuck here forever..." She trailed off, stiffening up and glaring at her paws. "Come on. Let's go." Snowdove sped up, pushing forward towards the camp.
  21. "What's wrong?" Juniper caught up to him, giving him a worried look. Jubileze froze, nervously stepping out and sitting next to Forest. She stared nervously at the bird. "I'm fine. Just..." She sighed. "I miss them, I guess...they were gone so fast, it's barely been two weeks since Flash died, I-" She paused. "Weren't they supposed to fulfill a destiny? Be super important? I don't get it..." Her voice cracked a bit at the end, like her composure was breaking.
  22. "Back the tribe, I guess? I hope we'll be done here soon, we helped Mistletoe..." She hopped over a log, still not looking at Lanasi. "Wh-Jest?" Juniper watched him leave, staring at the words written in the dirt before running after Jest. Jubileze stared in awe, finally recognizing Forest. She held her breath, slowly backing away to leave in case she wasn't welcome. Did she follow us?
  23. Juniper watched Everest, glancing at Jest a few times out if worry. Jubileze flicked her ear, hearing faint noise and watching as animals seemed to wander to the same place. She hesitantly stood up, ducking down behind some plants and trying to make out the blur of bright color. "Yeah, I guess..." She seemed to deflate a bit at the mention of Vissen, looking away and walking a bit faster.
  24. "Why? Is it dangerous?" She looked out into the jungle, narrowing her eyes as if looking for something.
  25. "Oh right, sorry..." Juniper coughed awkwardly, turning back to Jest. "What are you doing?"
