‘’But- that doesn’t matter! Who cares if it’s not your destiny! You’re here aren’t you..? I don’t want to leave you Snowdove.. I can’t handle losing another friend, my girlfriend on top of that.’’ She said, her eyes brimming with fear and grief. ‘’look, darling! We can figure out a solution!’’ She said, her expression turning slightly manic.
"Yeah...yeah, you're right..." Snowdove turned to face her, resting her chin on top of Lanasi's head for a brief moment.
"But that doesn't mean I'll listen."
She whipped around, immediately springing upwards and clawing her way up to the creature's face, slashing at it's eyes. Frantic screams broke out as the tribe tried to pry her off, though it was mostly useless considering how high up she was.
She jumped back down, evading the tribe members as they furiously lunged at her. "Come get me you wastes of air!" She hissed, running into the jungle as a crowd bolted after her.
Only the creature-swiping blood from it's eyes and half blinded-and Lanasi and Juniper were left. Juniper was shaking like a petrified rabbil at this point, and without thinking, ran the opposite way of Snowdove and into the jungle.

Jest stared at what was swinging. This place is mighty peaceful, isn't it? He decided to call out for someone since he was on a stump anyways.
The bird chirped and ruffled it's feathers, enjoying the pets.
Everest sprung up and patted Thettlethorn on the back to try and help him get to breathing.
Jerry stared in shock, not knowing what to do.
The call rang out pretty loudly in the silence, but it seemed nobody was there.
Or maybe there was. Something stared from behind a clump of dead bushes.
Jubileze pet the bird a few more times, then put her paw back down and sighed. "I have to go back, Forest... Im sorry. I just don't trust that tribe. I'm...worried about my group, I guess."
Thettlethorn eventually stopped coughing, only wheezing a few times and laying sprawled out like a dead rat.
"I'm dying, aren't I?..."
-
Just now, Flower said:
‘’THINK ABOUT YOURSELF FOR ONCE! And think about me Snowdove! This can’t be what you want and it’s not what I want either!’’ She growled, trying to get Juniper to stand by herself.
"DON'T YOU GET IT?!" She whipped around, finally facing Lanasi. "I WAS NEVER MEANT FOR THIS!" The tribe members were chanting something, but she hardly noticed.
"That call that Pathfol-Quosine sent out when we all first met? I didn't even hear it! I was hunting with someone and he heard it! He was freaked out! The only reason I'm even here us because I was curious and stupid!"
She violently shook her head, like she had been holding this in for a while.
"THIS WAS NEVER MY DESTINY! SOMEHOW I SCREWED UP SO BAD THAT I DENIED DESTINY ITSELF! I WAS NEVER IMPORTANT! I'M JUST A PAIN! YOU AND FLASH AND VISSEN, YOU WERE ALL MEANT FOR SOMETHING! BUT ME?!" Her voice cracked at the end, and tears started welling in her eyes.
"PLEASE JUST-JUST LET ME BE USEFUL! LET ME FIX THE MISTAKES I MADE! MAYBE I WAS ONLY EVER MEANT FOR THIS-A SACRIFICE!"

Jest hopped up onto one of the stumps, flicking his tail and finishing the bite he had taken from the corpse before.
"They respond well to praise, though nichelings never really praise them for eating their cubs." She reached up and carefully ran her paw along the bird's feathers.
"Yes, but we're mostly just tagalongs. They don't pay much attention to us! Secondary characters, if you will."
Jerry smiled and looked up at Everest.
"Not hard when you can't voice your opinions, huh?"
Everest simply nodded and looked away.
Nothing seemed super odd. Except for the creaking of the trees, that is. Something swung limply in the darkness.
"Yeah, I get that part. Then again, not much else to eat in the mountains, I suppose." She started petting the bird too. Pat pat.
Thettlethorn looked to Everest, tilting his head. "Can you no-" He was cut off my a sudden coughing fit, collapsing to the ground completely and almost sounding like he eas choking.
4 minutes ago, Flower said:Hmm I mean I have nothing better to do so like- now? But also I’m a coward and I don’t want her to die- but like it would also be kinda op if I prevented her from dying so like 👉👈👀 now?
Good because there's like literally no other good time to say it-
Just have Lanasi try to stop her, i guess? Things are about to get BAD-

I am very conflicted on what to do. Kat what do you think should happen-
Well i mean, depends-
would you like the plot twist now or later?

‘’Why would I leave you?!’’ She said, hurt evident in her tone. ‘’Juniper, please you need to breathe’’ she said, starting to panic. I just need to think.. I have to be resourceful.. She thought frantically, her gaze darting around.
Juniper didn't seem to hear her, pressing closer and burying her face in Lanasi's shoulder like a scared child.
"Because-because Vissen and Flash, they died for this! They died so we could live and we could stop that horrible monster! I'm just one nicheling, it won't matter if I die! I'll die a hundred times over before I let their sacrifices be in vain!" Snowdove growled, keeping Lanasi and Juniper behind her and locking gazes with the creature.

He stopped and stared down at the body. He sniffed at it, then casually took a small bite and continued walking.
The bird started to chirp along to the song.
Forest smiled and closed her eyes, listening to the tune.
Everest waved his paw before sitting. Jerry tumbled off of his back and got up. They shook some dirt off before sitting next to Everest and smiling at the child.
"Hi! I'm Jerry. And that's Everest."
The path seemed to get even darker, and eventually a clearing came into view, almost more unsettling than the path. A large tree stump surrounded by smaller ones sat in the center.
Jubileze finished, and smiled at the bird. "I never thought I would like one of these things. I guess I didn't think to try and communicate with them before."
The child blinked at Jerry, then weakly waved back. "I'm Thettlethorn. Are you guys from the group that mom brought here?"

‘’Uh the hell not!’’ Lanasi growled, her tail fluffing up in anger. You know, Lanasi tried to be peaceful, being a somewhat of a pacifist at heart, but when someone threatens her girlfriend and her friends? Violence seemed like a good option.
"Where's Jest and Jubileze? They're two of the strongest we have! Where did they go?!" Juniper whispered, crouching down next to Lanasi and starting to hyperventilate.
Try as she did to look intimidating, Snowdove was scared out of her mind of this thing. "Lanasi." She said, keeping her gaze on the creature. "If I somehow manage to make an opening, get everyone and run. Find Jest, Everest, Jubileze and everyone else and go." She dug her claws into the ground.
"And don't wait for me."
6 minutes ago, Foxy Kaza said:Jest glanced at the crowd, then ran towards the path. Time to go on some unknown adventure!
It seemed fairly normal at first, but slowly the path became more and more dark. Dead trees lined the sides, and bones started to litter the path.
Before long, what looked like an entire body lay on the path, a bluebird picking at it's remains.
8 minutes ago, Foxy Kaza said:The bluebird atop Forest's antler looked down at her, ruffling its feathers and making a small chirping noise back.
Jubileze smiled, and started whistling at it, replicating a song from her tribe.
9 minutes ago, Foxy Kaza said:Everest walked up to the child, stopping behind them and brushing a paw against their shoulder.
The child jolted, whipping his head around to stare at Everest. He was abnormally thin, seeming to barely be able to even keep his head raised.
"H...hello? I don't think I've seen you before..."
-
7 minutes ago, Foxy Kaza said:
Jest turned, then decided to look around. Anything else of interest?
Aside from the gathering crowd, there was something to be seen.
A path lead into the woods, covered by darkness and unknown as to where it leads.
8 minutes ago, Foxy Kaza said:The rabbil perked its ears up happily. Forest then picked up a stagmole, letting it crawl up her arm and up to her head.
Jubileze-being a bird thing herself-made a small chirping noise, hoping to gain the attention of one of the birds.
9 minutes ago, Foxy Kaza said:(Kat please?)
Oops sorry-
52 minutes ago, Foxy Kaza said:Everest walked inside, since there was no immediate response. If he gets in trouble then oh well!
There was only a single nicheling, seemingly a child, curled up in the corner facing away from Everest.

Just now, Flower said:
‘’S-Snowdove?!’’ She asked her voice pitching in panic. Because she was already quite jumpy before this her paws weren’t rooted to the ground in fear. ‘’Snow, run!’’
Snowdove whipped her head around, trying to find an opening, but they were surrounded on all sides. "Dammit!" She hissed, leaping in front of Lanasi to face the creature.
"W-what?" Juniper, who had been sitting close by, backed away from everyone, pressing close to Snowdove and Lanasi with her quills spiked up in terror.
The...thing stepped forward, until it was towering directly over Snowdove, massive and imposing.
"These outsiders have committed a disgusting crime, and so have offered themselves up to a higher purpose."
The creature spoke, voice changing pitch every letter.
It raised it's head high.
"May the time goddess gaze upon this offering and erase the atrocities that have plagued us, as we bring her beings unfit to live."

3 minutes ago, Foxy Kaza said:
Jest stared up at the eyes, giving a small smile. "Hello there. Not the first time I've stumbled upon darkness."
Whatever that thing was, it didn't say anything, jumping over Jest and landing on the ground, which almost seemed to shake as it landed. It was in the light, but it was gone before he could have gotten a look.
5 minutes ago, Foxy Kaza said:"They're magnificent creatures, you just need to find one willingful enough to overcome their fear of us." She put her paw back on the ground and the rabbil curled around it.
Jubileze hesitantly reached out a paw, resting it on the rabbil's back and giving it a pet.
5 minutes ago, Flower said:She tilted her head in confusion. ‘’Pardon?’’
(Sorry I was making myself dinner)"Mother won't show mercy." Kalile said simply, seeming borderline unbothered by everything.
Pawsteps came forward, and the tribe scrambled out of the way and bowed their heads as some creature most would only see in their nightmares came forward to stand in front of Lanasi and Snowdove.
It looked like a nicheling...vaguely. It had what seemed like four pairs of glowing eyes, all different colors. Six different types of paws came from it's sides, including what seemed to be a giant pair of crabbit claws. It had feathers, though no wings, just feathers scattered in random places. It had three tails, and overall looked like every animal existance was grotesquely melted together.
Kalile dipped her head. "Mother has come to us."
-
4 minutes ago, Foxy Kaza said:
Jest narrowed his eyes and started climbing up the tree, determined to figure out what was going on.
In the hole, a massive, looming figure shrouded in darkness stared down at Jest. All that was really visible were bright orange eyes.
5 minutes ago, Foxy Kaza said:"They're the family I never had... They comforted me through bad times. I don't eat them unless they're already dead." She lifted a paw and gently stroked a bunnil's head, letting the bunnil slip under her paw again to repeat a process.
Jubileze watched, almost fascinated. "Everything back at my home wanted to kill us. I've only seen rabbils a few times, actually."
-
Just now, Flower said:
‘’Um.. what happens when you touch the animals?’’ She asked, looking at Kalile with distrust.
She seemed a lot more serious than before, narrowing her eyes and standing up straight. "Mother comes out to see them."
-
4 minutes ago, Foxy Kaza said:
Jest walked up to the huge tree in the center of the tribe. Time to see what's going on behind this strange place.
A nicheling was climbing down from the tree, briefly looking back up before walking off, giving Jest a strange look.
6 minutes ago, Foxy Kaza said:"Well I usually stay on the outskirts of populated areas, and as you can probably see, I'm an animal nicheling, so if you ever need me just follow the bunnils." Forest gave a smile, trying to keep it so the untouched side of her face was showing, so that Jubileze wouldn't be offset by the torn side.
"Gotcha." She smiled-though it was small-and watched a few of the animals. "I take it you don't eat them?"
7 minutes ago, Flower said:‘’Maybe it’s because we look different? Or because everyone knows each other probably.. I’d imagine you don’t get to many strangers around here.’’ She mused to herself. ‘’What do we even do now?’’
"Maybe..." She didn't sound too sure, fur bristling up as she gazed at all the staring nichelings.
Kalile seemed to pop out if nowhere, emerging from the crowd and looking at the rabbil. She made some sort of humming noise and turned to Lanasi.
"I told you not to touch the animals."
-
1 minute ago, Flower said:
Kat Katumai!! Greetings sister
’’uh.. do they think we’re gonna poison them or something..?’’ She whispered timidly. Lanasi, despite being an extrovert, felt very overwhelmed by the intimidating crowd at camp.
Snowdove shrugged. "This place is weird." She looked to her left, watching as one of the nichelings climbed the giant tree and into the hole in the trunk. Mostly everyone around them seemed to be staring now.
-
23 hours ago, Foxy Kaza said:
"Interesting." He flicked an ear and turned to continue walking.
Forest ruffled her wing a bit, and the bluebird flew up and perched on one of her antlers. Forest then draped her wing over Jubileze's back in an attempt to help her calm down.
"If it helps.. I could try to stay around with you. So you're not so alone, y'know?"
Juniper didn't try to follow him this time, sitting in the same spot and watching him leave.
Jubileze looked up, frantically trying to wipe away a few tears. "Thanks...I would like that.
23 hours ago, Flower said:“yeah.” she said, managing to keep her voice from wavering. “let’s just get inside.” she walks past Snowdove to the entrance.
Snowdove followed, dropping the rabbil to sit down for a minute. A few of the tribe members seemed to grow anxious when they saw the prey.
-
"Don't come any closer!" She hissed, backing away until she felt her back hit a tree.
"You're insane!"
"Look who's talking." !#$@/*_; Scoffed, narrowing his eyes as he came closer.
"What happened to you?"
--------------------
"It's purple-green, perhaps?"
"Yeah. With a bit of pink."
"What do you think it is?" Tether sniffed the air, coughing a bit at the horribly unpleasant scent.
"Huh, I didn't know there were any orange plants around here."
"There aren't, what do you mean?" He turned his head, squinting to make out a flash of bright orange just a few trees away.
"Hm…"
"Maybe we should go?"
"It's alright. Im comfortable here."
-----
"BATISI!"
Capst called out, searching for her son through the smoke. She heard a small cough and paused, sighing in relief as she found him curled up next to a bush.
"Come on honey, we have to go!"
She picked him up and rested him on her back, dashing away to try and find the rest of her tribe.
----------
"Wildfire?!"
Zaptide pushed through the smoke, narrowly avoiding a few flames that nearly caught him.
He got lost from everyone. He didn't know where his siblings or Chunei or Rogiek were-
"Zaptide?!"
His head whipped around frantically, searching for his sister. He spotted the top of her horns and ran over, seeing that she was trapped between the fire and a tree, which she couldn't climb due to her crippled paw.
"Help me you stupid lump of fur!"
That alone almost made him leave her to die.
Before he could bite back with anything, something ran by, and in moments Wildfire was tumbling to the ground next to his paws, untouched by the embers.
He looked forward, watching as something-someone-appeared from the smoke.
"Are you alright?"
All he could make out her antlers and a sticky tongue, the rest of the female obscured by the smoke.
She didn't wait for Wildfire to answer though.
"Come, I can get you out."

6 minutes ago, Foxy Kaza said:
"It's not your job to apologize." He stopped as well, letting out a sigh.
"Why would you guys be stuck? Is there someone keeping you all from leaving?" Forest tilted her head, turning her head to look down at Jubileze.
Juniper hesitantly walked up to him and sat down. "My sister is dead too..." She whispered, almost inaudible.
"Me, no. But the others..." Jubileze sighed. "I can't go back home. My tribemates hate me, and my brother is gone now and I-I have nobody left, he's gone and I have nobody left-" She started rambling, not even stopping to breathe.
"He was horrible, so horrible, but he was all I had and I miss him and I-" She finally cut herself off, digging her claws into the ground.
5 minutes ago, Flower said:she didn’t argue, trying to walk quickly and push away the alarm sound ringing in her brain telling her to slow down. she’s been told stories of the jungle from her parents who used to sell things near the edge of it, bad stories to say the least of horrific events. she nearly slipped on a patch of wet leaves and almost threw up afterwards, feeling sick with fear.
"You okay?" Snowdove looked back, glancing for a moment at the camp just a few paces away.

Jest looked over at her, keeping pace with his walking. "My sister died at the bottom of a cliff, and he decided he needed to remind me." He was more than annoyed. He was pissed.
"Don't worry, I've tamed balance bears before. A bird is no challenge." Forest moved her wing out of the way a bit so that the bluebird wouldn't be as close to Jubileze. "What's been happening since our last encounter?"
"Oh I..." Juniper stopped for a moment, looking down at her paws. "I'm sorry..."
Jubileze glanced away for a moment, instead staring at a rabbil.
"We got taken to some tribe that lives here, we might be stuck here forever..." She trailed off, stiffening up and glaring at her paws.
3 minutes ago, Flower said:Lanasi looked at paws, unable to fill the silence accept for a small “me neither..”
"Come on. Let's go." Snowdove sped up, pushing forward towards the camp.
-
10 minutes ago, Foxy Kaza said:
Jest was walking towards the large tree, seeming annoyed and mumbling to himself. "He knows not to bring up that stuff.. Why the heck would he do it now?"
Forest opened her eye and looked over at her without moving her head.
"Did you not think I smelled your presence?"
The bluebird on her nose ruffled its feathers before moving over to her now extended wing.
"They won't hurt you, they're tame."
"What's wrong?" Juniper caught up to him, giving him a worried look.
Jubileze froze, nervously stepping out and sitting next to Forest. She stared nervously at the bird.
7 minutes ago, Flower said:“yeah..” she paused. “you doing ok Snow? you seem off.”
"I'm fine. Just..." She sighed. "I miss them, I guess...they were gone so fast, it's barely been two weeks since Flash died, I-" She paused. "Weren't they supposed to fulfill a destiny? Be super important? I don't get it..." Her voice cracked a bit at the end, like her composure was breaking.
-
9 minutes ago, Flower said:
stop making others sad Lanasi.. she hurried along, her brain screaming to slow down and make sure ever step was perfect and safe but if she slowed down it would be a burden to the taller nicheling. ‘’Where are we going again?” She asked, her voice coming out small and fearful despite her best effort to sound confident. Her stressing and internal dialogue had caused her to forget what their objective was.
"Back the tribe, I guess? I hope we'll be done here soon, we helped Mistletoe..." She hopped over a log, still not looking at Lanasi.
6 minutes ago, Foxy Kaza said:Everest had been writing in the dirt, and Jest watched in confusion.
All that was written was 'Cliff'.
Jest stared at Everest for a moment before narrowing his eyes and turning to walk the other direction.
Lifted her nose for a bird to land on, letting out small whistles to communicate with the bird. For some reason, the birds weren't targeting the bunnils that had been right next to them, and the stagmoles weren't hiding away in their burrows.
"Wh-Jest?" Juniper watched him leave, staring at the words written in the dirt before running after Jest.
Jubileze stared in awe, finally recognizing Forest. She held her breath, slowly backing away to leave in case she wasn't welcome.
Did she follow us?
-
5 minutes ago, Foxy Kaza said:
Jest kept digging until Everest walked up and shoved him with one paw. Jest looked up at him, startled at first, then surprised. "Oh! I thought we lost you.."
Everest nodded, then looked around. He scratched at his injured eye a bit before beginning to draw in the dirt.
Juniper watched Everest, glancing at Jest a few times out if worry.
8 minutes ago, Foxy Kaza said:Forest made her way to a small clearing, sitting down and looking up at the jungle leaves. She let the animals in the area surround her, such as bunnils, stagmoles, and bluebirds. She closed her eyes and perked up her ears, listening for any nearby nichelings. She knew a guard would ruin her peace soon, though she can't let them take away her peace altogether.
Jubileze flicked her ear, hearing faint noise and watching as animals seemed to wander to the same place. She hesitantly stood up, ducking down behind some plants and trying to make out the blur of bright color.
5 minutes ago, Flower said:Well at least it isn’t snow.. Lanasi kept reassuring herself. She repeated like a mantra in her head each time her paw shot down a couple inches in a particularly deep pile of leaves. She was zoning out, looking at the leaves littering the floor until Snowdove’s voice jolted her out of her stupor. ‘’Well.. it’s unknown right? Neither of us have the knowledge of what surviving here entails. Vissen did.. I knew I should have asked her more questions..’’ She said worriedly. (Idk what they were talking abt so I’m assuming it’s the jungle?)
"Yeah, I guess..." She seemed to deflate a bit at the mention of Vissen, looking away and walking a bit faster.

She still looked really nervous. ‘‘Just be careful, okay darling?’’ She said, quickening her pace so that she was walking next to Snowdove
"Why? Is it dangerous?" She looked out into the jungle, narrowing her eyes as if looking for something.
-
1 minute ago, Foxy Kaza said:
Everest stared blankly at her before motioning towards his burnt neck. He then stared at Jest, watching as he frantically dug through the dirt and tuned everything out.
He really has devolved.
"Oh right, sorry..." Juniper coughed awkwardly, turning back to Jest. "What are you doing?"
