  1. You will want to be careful with allowing file separator characters in file names. I just tried exporting the drone "Hunter /and\ Gatherer" and it failed silently. No error messages, just failed to create the file. That's on Linux. Not sure what would happen on Windows.
  2. That means that a file/folder browser (like Caja) can be done with just a visual front-end, rather than any actual back-end storage changes. Question: How does that work when using the drone name for a file name on a UNIX system? Do you allow the backslash as a character on Windows?
  3. Is the forward slash an allowed character in drone names?
  4. Big GPL advocate here. And I think I agree with letting people keep their racers secret for the most part specifically to avoid the script-kiddie approach where possible. The only exception would be if we had an infrequent, relatively high-profile tournament, where you enter your drone openly. But it has your name on it, so people who copy it are obviously copying it. This is different to people sharing their campaign drone designs, which is a completely co-operative environment.
  5. I frequently find myself using a few designs over and over again. I doubt I'm alone in this. I've worked round this by having a "design toolbox" drone that I start projects from, but it would be so much nicer to have a dedicated library. The picture I've attached has 6 different modules in it. If you note, most of them are set to just detach, so I can actually test and debug new bits.
  6. You're certainly not alone in wanting this sort of thing. I tried building sub-drones that would orbit the main one, and the size they have to be to make that work gets silly!
  7. Honestly, I think just an output from shields similar to fuel tanks (full charge, no charge) would probably do an awful lot.
  8. Normal/default version. No antivirus causing trouble at my end. Yes, Niche_Data was there and had stuff in it. Would a file listing of it help? --- After playing for a bit via WINE, I'm going to go for a refund. It's not the install issue (seriously, I run Gentoo, I'm used to having to jump through hoops to get games to run), it's that I found the core gameplay more stressful than fun.
  9. I just tried the "use proton" option, and that didn't work either. Then I tried running it directly through WINE from the command line, and that worked perfectly except it was on the wrong monitor and I couldn't get it full screen on the correct one.. No clue what's up with it. Is the data folder identical for both releases?
  10. New user here, on Linux/Steam. Tried to play after downloading, and game refused to start. No log file created. Ran manually from the terminal and got the error "There is no data folder". Some googling shows that this means that there's a file missing from the install. Lots of unity3d posts. Deleted Niche_Data folder and verified Steam files to redownload. Error remains.
