Being able to construct a loop is really important in automation.

I'm aware that it's possible to use switches to implement - (see the following link)

    https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2068273406

but it gets a bit tricky if one isn't used to programming, or if one wants to use arbitrary numbers!

    this exists as

    impulse giver

use with   and gate    if you don't want it to keep going forever

you could also make a counter to keep track of the outputs

Unless I am missing something, it seems impossible to cross the logic separator - which is great, but for instance if I want a subsystem to respond to a request, there is no way to do it without exposing the entire subsystem.

A simple interface (eg 'show value') would solve that.  In fact, it could be added into the logic separator (pass key xx over as yy)

you can use a distance sensor to output    the input of something behind the logic separator

It would be nice if the editor would highlight or some how tell you which part is being over loaded so It would be easier to find it and fix the situation on complicated builds when you didn't see it right away.

you can safely ignore every single warning you see

attach every part that is in range of the core          to the core

they won't break because the core is the strongest connection part

everything else you should be attached to parts that are a higher or equal mass to it

don't attach more than 3 things like boosters to 1 part equal to its mass [there are a few exceptions]

try making the parts support each other with 'weaving'

A docking component would be awesome. It would need to be available as a sensed object (and whether or not it is currently docked).

For instance, It would really help for resource mining, especially if we also could manage resource/power/fuel transfer..

That way, the drone core can sit above the container, and then mining subs can go do the mining, and dock to the core, which would then drop resource into the container.

    already possible

you can build your own docking port with magnets and sensors

drop a tracking part in the resource bin

auto resource delivery is also possible

With unconnected objects (especially factory-produced mini-drones) it would be good to be able to use the same key set for each group, without having to re-assign keys to all the components. Currently the drives work fine - they are isolated - but the prox. sensor, and distance sensor trigger keys that effect every drone across the planet.  Is that by design?

I get that there's a problem also with the camera sensor - maybe it would be a good idea to use the tab key to switch between cameras on the same key?

    Loving the game....

that's possible already with the current logic parts

    check the and-gate

use shift, ctrl, alt, etc for modifiers + the key you want => parts you want to activate

you should try tags if you havent already -- they work the same way as key bindings just with words  --  you can have 2 inputs and 2 outputs per part with tags on

if you want same keyset for multiple drones use an     and gate

    for example

    switch  ----   input KEY [1]   ----> output TAG [ship1]

and gate ---- input KEY [w] + input TAG [ship1] ----> output TAG [forwardship1]           ----- put this tag on the forward boosters on ship 1

    do this for all steering

you can make it so that if you have one ship activated the rest of the ships won't go on even if you press 2, 3, 4 for their switches  |  with additional logic parts

if you have sensors on different minidrones scattered on a planet and they are activating the same thing

then all the outputs are the same

if you are factory mass-producing them

you can't make the output be different for each drone
[you might be able to but that would require a lot of parts, sensors, logic counter, etc]

    Ideally, having the ability to

    (1) set a throttle value

    (2) an activator to increase throttle

    (3) an activator to decrease throttle

    already have that

    check the green booster

That's the thing, though.  Edge riders need low part counts, rammers need high part counts.  (Barring things like swarms, of course.)  Forcing size classes prevents them from meeting as much.

rammers can beat edge riders too, there is no one defined circle for everything, only a broad and vague outline

there are so many variations that it's impossible to narrow it down like that

if people dont want to make 100 part drones then they shouldnt have to just to stand a chance or have fun

just because some edge riders are low part count, it doesn't mean that rammers will be obsolete, if anything it will inspire people to make new versions of things, and different types of drones that we dont usually have around

Yes, it does -- but not always the way you mean.

    • Rammers:  Huge, ultrafast brute force drones.  They try and catch you before you can move.  Defeat them with:
      • Rammers - an even bigger rammer.
      • Edge Followers - or anything else that moves fast and laterally.  Rammers are good at starting, but not so much at STOPPING.
    • Fidget Spinners.  You can defeat them with:
      • Fidget Spinners - an even bigger fidget spinner.
      • Flux Pushers - spinning is no defense against magnets.
      • Rammers - the bigger the better.
    • Edge Followers.  They stay by the edge to trick your drone into leaving the ring.  Defeat them with:
      • Fidget Spinners - can't be led out of the ring if you ignore your opponent entirely!
      • Toads - lie low and wait for them to come to you, then pounce.
      • Harassment Swarms - Edge followers tend to be lightweights, a good swarm will mess them up.
    • Harassment Swarms.  They launch semi-smart debris to clog you up.  Fight them with:
      • Harassment Swarms - A luck-based mission is still 50/50!
      • Rammers - Three little magnet sats of twenty tons each?  That's cute.  Taste wall.
      • Keep Away - keep dodging debris until you get a good chance.
      • Edge Followers - lead the swarm on a wild goose chase until it does something stupid.
      • Flux Pushers - the swarm can still push, but can't tangle.
    • Keep Away - dodges everything, moves constantly, shoves you when it gets a lucky chance.  Fight with:
      • Fidget Spinners - especially a really big one.
      • Edge Followers - Provoke it into leaving the ring.

Bigger is definitely not always better, and I know of no single drone of any size which can defeat all others.

yeah but im talking about lower part cap not edge rider vs rammer

Human sumo wrestling is mostly a contest of who's heavier -- which is why they got fat.  Nimbatus sumo has enough strategy that the tiers don't really apply.  I've beat 90-part behemoths with a button, engine, and fuel tank.

Fidget spinners aren't invulnerable, either.  They're actually quite weak, because 3/4 of their engines are pointing the wrong way to shove you at any moment.  Once you've got enough magnets to keep them away, they can be pushed around by a relatively smaller opponent.

Just because you can beat one 90 part drone with a small drone doesnt mean you can do the same for all other 90 part drones

    part count will always matter

  10. You will be able to choose a tournament to enter based on

    Tiers:  Based on part count

    Divisions:  Based on individual wins

    Normal:  Versus all uploaded drones

Tiers:  (You will only face other drones in your tier)

    1-25.........Featherweight

    26-50.......Lightweight

    51-75.......Middleweight

    76-90.......Cruiserweight

    91-100.....Heavyweight

Divisions:  (from highest to lowest) (You will only face other drones in your division)  * means number can be adjusted based on amount of drones uploaded, how many wins drones have or could have, etc

Makuuchi.......Top division..........500-∞* wins   Fixed to 42* drones, the bottom ranked drone will be demoted if surpassed

Jūryō..............Second division....400-* wins (40 tournament wins)   Drones bumped down from the top division will place here even if above 500 wins   No drone limit

Makushita......Third division........300-399* wins (30 tournament wins)  No drone limit

Sandanme......Forth division.......200-299* wins (20 tournament wins)  No drone limit

Jonidan..........Fifth division.........100-199* wins (10 tournament wins)  No drone limit

    Jonokuchi......Sixth division........1-99* wins

Wins will count from tournaments you enter or wins you gain from other players facing your drone

Division&wins and tier&part count will be displayed when in a match across all tournament modes

A leaderboard can be viewed where players can select a division from a drop down menu and see other drones+built by ___ along with their part count, a small image of the drone can be shown to the left of the name that can be enlarged by hovering over it for 1s

Players can also use a search bar to find a specific drone or a separate tab that shows all of their drones and stats (search bar can also search by selecting one or more attributes such as [part count highest/lowest], [wins highest/lowest], [win ratio highest/lowest] so that players can use the combination they want)

When you reach a new division there can be a congratulations screen   ex. Congratulations, your drone _____ has been placed into Jonidan, the Fifth Division!

Some rewards can go along with this, such as resources, additional parts for campaign mode, a special skin that you can use, etc

I believe sumo is one of the best things about this game, and can be made much more fun than it already is 🙂

  11. On the top left where it has the tag button etc there can be a free place mode option, where you don't have to connect blocks to other blocks in order to place them

If you have this mode it enables you to freely move around sections if you are rearranging or building different versions of the same section

You will not be able to enter a planet or test flight, sumo, race with the the free place mode on and things not attached, but you will be able to save your file
