  1. A bit underwhelming, maybe this?

    Flowerfern

can be used as a nest and grows a flower that give +5 material and +3 food when destroyed

can be placed on a creature's back to add extra camo and take an extra hit, regardless of damage, after which it will be destroyed (gives +2 camo in any terrain except water and subtracts -1 from all movement stats)

grows on trees, the ground, stumps or rocks in jungles, Savannahs and rarely, grassland often guarded by dodomingoes

    Gingkonifer

found in jungle biomes and mountain biomes

a large tree with perchable branches that occasionally drop stinky cones

these nuts give 4 food when eaten, requiring cracking and gathering to eat and attract meat-eating animals like bearyena

  2. I love AC and this post, I also made an idea that would go well with your clever jaw, it is called ant gaster, in females it gives the following

    Ant gaster(tail in females)

    +4 fertility

-2 in all movement based stats

    +1 defense

    + venomous(because of stingers)

+ double birth(gives birth twice with one successful mating session)

    In males it gives:

    Ant gaster(tail in males)

    +2 fertility

    +2 defense

+distressful scent(when a predator is nearby, it goes off and gives a notification; a <insert predator name> is nearby!)

unlock conditions: breed 150 times and unlock Clever jaw

    and also legs to boot

Chitinous hind legs(like a crab or ant maybe, hind legs)

    +1 defense

    +1 speed

    +1 swimming

    -1 cold resistance

unlock conditions: Walk around 50 times with clever jaw

    and also pincer paws

    Pincer paw

    +1 attack

    +1 defense(per pair)

    +1 cracking

+1 knockback per pair(knocks opponent backwards that number of tiles opposite where the creature is)

unlock conditions: walk 50 times on a beach with chitinous hind legs and eat 5 coconuts

The OP talked about the beak gene also having a level of insect collecting in the last paragraph.

ok also maybe platypus beak(ducks and platypi eat insect larva or aquatic insects), big nose(foxes, dogs and even coyotes eat some insects and arachnids)

footage of a fennec fox(imagine this is as a big eared nicheling) eating a scorpion

and a red fox eating a grub

  4. here

    Nichus errant faunus (Deer-like Creatures)

    - try translating errant faunus and you'll laugh/not like it

    May have the following genes:

Chewing Jaw: 1 cracking, 2 herbivore(getting food from grass, seaweed and leaves), 2 gathering

Hooved paw: 3 speed, 1 attack

Hooved Hind legs: 3 speed, 1 attack

Dappled Pattern: +2 Camoflouge under trees and in grass

    Antlers

    Ram Horns

    Medium Ears

    Big Ears

    Medium Tail

  5. pretty much, also some skinks live in aboned trapdoor spider burrows and don't have to worry about the smoke or heat when a fire passes and termite mounds efficient ventilation and material make them literally fireproof

I am not sure how well burrows would work against fire considering the smoke could still get in and or the heat would still be an issue as well, you'd be somewhat cooked alife if the burrow wasn't deep and or had air venting... at least that's how imagine it

also I read many scientific books on plants and apparently the heat dissipates a few CENTIMETERS underground, so burrows will be a better defense than fleeing and most animals with decent burrow structure don't flee from the burrow when a bush fire passes

I honestly thought of something else that could go with this: Termite mounds. Especially in savannah as a food source! And maybe an ant-eater head to work like nimble fingers on bushes. Like I said the ideas for this are everywhere! And it would give a reason to eat insects in the game, which is one source of food not covered. I love the idea for beetles btw! Like dung beetles! And I love the idea of snakes as well, maybe they could be cobras, and maybe it could give access to a hood gene of some kind to scare away predators! Could be like meerkats too and dig for millipedes. And what would be really rare is an oasis island!

Also, apologies I had not realized someone else had the same idea points for reptile add-ons, but it does add the point that this is a possibility and it would be pretty cool!

millipedes and beetles, sound cruchy also snakes and I also have a concept for the hood gene:

Hood(like a cobra, with no fangs though)

    + distasteful appearance

+ hypnosis(hypnotizes prey to come closer, parasites stay away and makes predators do 2 less damage in a 3 tile radius)

    +3 smelling

    +1 heat resistance(maybe)

    + disables ear genes

unlock conditions: spend time in Savannah(25 days)

ps I made an insectivore trait with beaks and stuff

Burrows could be cool, since real life animals actually make them, but I disagree that walls and huts etc. should be added.

yup, because the nichelings have literal mole claws, and it would give you a way to avoid the FIRE besides running also maybe dams or lodges woud be possible with swimming tail, giving non aquatic creatures another way to cross water
