didn't someone already make something like this?, with a crark jaw or something

BirdsAreCool, they won't want to breed with you without HI immunity

good point, and having to turn around and prick a rabbil for example(which the spiky body can be used for now) would be, impractical, yes it would kill it, though it would probably run away in that time

one thing though Birds are cool, the porcupine can back up into predators to prick them, basically making that offense, though I agree the spiky body is a bit nonsensical because you don't get your damage reduced by presumable hard quills, but by only with thick hide(big body), bony dermal armor(armored body) or even big arms(mammut foot)

Merry Christmas everybody!
The Reaper bird, or the Herok(Green heron + Marabou stork/the closest thing to a quetz we have today) is a large bird(a little larger than an ape, and taller than a big bodied nicheling) with the gigantic size of the giant marabou stork with the luring and fishing abilites of a green heron, it often lurks atop trees, stumps and rocks in the Swamp, jungle and Savannah biomes, preferring to stay on hard islands due to those biomes being larger on those islands
Appearance:
it has black wing feathers, green breast feathers, dark and scaly legs, lined with sharp, yellow claws, reddish-brown(think fire ants) eyes and a thick head mottled with black and green, ending in a huge, straight bill, made to crush or pluck its meal
Diet:
this horrifying bird feasts on a diet of various small animals(including babies)🐍🦀🐀🐇 and fish🐟(up to nicheling size), carrion, including bones🍖 and will kill sick and dying animals to eat them
Habitat:
these birds live in the Savannah, jungle and swamp biomes, often resting atop large rocks, stumps and trees, really only leaving when there is food to eat, they can also wade through rivers and shallow sea and fly through the sky
Predators:
Though being a huge and extremely powerful bird, Bearyenas, Gorobats and apes can occasionally take one down, but often don't bother as it will most likely take off and peck them, and it can also brawl with the gorobat, being a fierce adversary to it, both being gigantic aerial hunters that take down terrestrial prey, and compete for the same turf, often however these fights are bluffs, with one of them fleeing after hits are exchanged, but they may end in death, they deal 2 extra damage to apes and other large predators, due to their act of attack the eyes, ears and snout of large animals
Hunting:
These birds hunt small game by finding suitable bait, like a piece of meat, algae, or a fruit/nut, then they position themselves next to a body of water, or on a tree, stump or rock, away from the prying eyes of smaller prey, the bait will determine where they will try to lure in a catch and where they stay while waiting
fruit/nut - on a tree, rock or stump nearby, occasionally into the sea to lure crabbits
algae - wading in a body of water
meat - anywhere
once a prey takes the bait, the stork flies into the sky, lands next to its prey, and before it can fight back or run, grabs it and kills it instantly(unless it has poison or defense) or it simply seizes it if close enough
They hunt slightly larger prey by waiting in a tree or in water, then fly at them, then begin their assault, the birds cannot move and attack against large animals on the same turn, so this is the preys chance to flee
They can also use the elements to help them, for instance, during a wildfire, they often march or soar(which makes them visible like a bluebird) in front of it, picking off fleeing prey
To kill one is difficult, as they have monstrously high stats and are best left avoided at all costs, hiding in burrows will work, as well as sheltering in deep water or on nests will work nicely, poison will also deter them, but spikyness won't as their scaly legs and huge beaks allow them to still attack while being unphased by the spines, also mimicry of poisonous animals works(warning colors)
However you can kill one with powerful defensive creatures, usually armored bodied ones with enough attack to break its 1 defense, but it will fly away rather well, unless you can chase it down with sufficient speed, flight or swimming, it also not immune to poison, making that an effective strategy to take it down
stats:
lifespan: 100 days
3 attack
1 defense
6 flight
2 speed
3 fishing
bluebird esque sight, but cannot see creatures in nests, trees or deep water
1 smelling
3 hearing
0 stealth
0 odor disguise

hey I tried playing at night via console command glitching, it is op af, and kinda messes up the game, so no, it would require A LOT of work

-
also wished you can console command warning colors onto a nicheling(doesn't work)
-
welcome to the forums, thank you for posting this, most of us only alluded to it
-
maybe we can give a pattern that hides nichelings especially well when young, but doesn't work as well when they age, maybe +4 camo for juvies and babies, and +2 for adults

Armored body already makes ya immune to spikes, maybe this can also lets you pick from cacti and attack creatures with spikiness without getting hurt
-
maybe we can have a sleepy root or mushrooms(already suggested) that can randomly remove 1 energy from you?

I believe this was already made by someone

Call climbers paw Dextrous paw and give +1 collecting too, and tufted ears may give +1 cold resistance

With subspecies you mean something like the pygmy nichelings?
yeah pretty much or a variation of the nicheling species, because there is a population of a species of mainly insectivorous lizards, that once moved to a small island, became primarily herbivorous, hmmm, small ISLAND

I'm pretty sure that would lover their fishing ability, because fish wouldn't be so attracted to this fluff
with flowing hair everywhere, the tail tuft would look like nymph fishing lure, which does attract fish

@Lilytuft hmm.. maybe if there was a gene for tail tuft colors, if it was a specific color fish would see it as food, because when fur is wet it's of course not going to be so fluffy anymore
or well, tail tuft maybe isn't always on fishing tail and there's a gene for no tail tuft or some tail fluff
if the person playing is going more for looks, they can breed the tail tuft in, but if they're not and is just going for fishing they can breed it out
usually when i get fishing tail im not actually trying to get it, i mostly try to breed it out actually. and maybe the tail tuft on the fishing tail makes the fishing tail give only +1 fishing, and +1 attractiveness?with flowing hair everywhere, the tail tuft would look like nymph fishing lure, which does attract fish
