  1. That would be cool! I want to know how many days until I unlock the next achievement
  2. Hm, that's a tough one. Considering the last two posts, I think it's tough to say the degree of their intelligence and sapience. If they truly tamed a bearyena, then that would be a strong indicator. If it was merely a symbiotic relationship, then that doesn't necessarily prove much. However, since the game uses the term "tame", my assumption would be that the niche critters are capable of taming. Another thing that suggests a higher level of thinking is their adaptability. While many species are adaptable do different environments, nichelings can adapt their behaviors as well. For example, they will stay close together in the cold, team up to hunt prey, stay away from each other if sick, and behave differently to younger and older bearyenas. These are all things that an individual species may do, but like betwixted said the more of these traits you put together, the more likely that the species is displaying some level of higher thinking. Adapting behavior rather than physically is a huge part, from my observations, is what makes an intelligent species "smart". Most of my examples I have listed could also be attributed to instinct, but I do think they support my case nonetheless. To conclude, I think that there really isn't enough information to make a strong decision either way. Which begs the question, if these creatures existed in real life, what experiments would we do to determine their intelligence?
  3. SOLVED: Okay, so there are apparently more than five of these roots available, you just need five to open the northern port. They can be hidden in tall grass, and can be sniffed out so something like narrow eyes and a big nose would be useful if you can't find any. However, like 5 minutes after I made this thread I found a handful so you just have to walk around a bit. Watch out for apes, though!
  4. Seconding this, although there isn't much more that hotkeys can be used for. I know tab is used to switch between active nichelings already. But besides that, space bar for next day, and u for screenshot mode, there isn't much that I've observed for hotkeys. Maybe A S D for vision, sniffing, and hearing? And maybe tab to switch between nichelings in that traits and genetics screen thing would be cool too. Not really a key but it would be cool if you could use the scroll on the mouse to shift between nichelings, including inactive ones?
  5. I'm typing this up quickly before I go to bed, but I was wondering if you have patched the leeches chilling out on land? Last I heard, it was a bug you were unable to reproduce. If you want, I could give you my save file. If you want the save file, how would you like me to upload it? Do you prefer like dropbox or google docs or something else?
  6. Made it to the jungle where the north is blocked by vines. 3 roots were visible throughout the island in areas where there was no tall grass. I cannot find the other two. Should they visible, or will grass cover them up? Should I breed for high scent to sniff them out? I'd hate to have to comb through the entire island in order to go north...
  7. **SPOILERS** - - - - I realized after my tribe had reached the home island, that I needed home immunity to get round ears, the only gene I haven't unlocked yet. I had lost home immunity over the generations, so I drowned my nichelings (rip) to restart from the same bloodline. However, not only do my nichelings not have home immunity upon restarting, but there is no genetic variation. I spent probably +/-200 days with the exact same genes (aside from immunity) out of probably less than 400 days, so I thought that maybe the genes you start off with were chosen based on how many of your nichelings had them. However, after restarting 10 times I found that there was absolutely no genetic variation among my nichelings, aside from random immunities (none of the home island, unfortunately). All nichelings generated during the "restart from same bloodline" option have the exact same genome, aside from being male and female, and immunity genes. I did have every gene unlocked aside from rounded ears, so perhaps it is just using the most popular genes I used except for immunity, and then randomizing immunity. I have had every immunity, A-K show up during these resets except home island. Before these resets, I had nichelings with every immunity so the variation isn't that surprising. Rather, the lack of home island immunity is what is frustrating. I have played this save for probably 40 hours while trying to unlock every gene, and it would be a shame if I had to make a completely new save because my home island carriers died out. Is there a reason that home island immunity is not showing up? Am I really unlucky? Are my nichelings stuck somehow with the same genes?
  8. shoot I meant to put this in the polling board. Guess I need to pay better attention to tabs rip
  9. This isn't a huge suggestion, but this was the only board I could find for this input. Even within a tribe of 10 animals, I find that many have the same or almost same name. This makes it difficult when finding a specific animal. There are two solutions to this, and I think both should be used. 1.) When choosing a name for a baby, do not select names of any living animals, unless no other names are available. Additionally, try to avoid names that are similar, like Reis and Rais. 2.) Add more names to the name pool. I have a few suggestions below, but I think it would be cool to hear everyone else's name ideas as well. Name Ideas: Male Female Either Kane, Cane Kana, Cana, Khana Nell Bruto Mila Shozi, Shosi Reddo Redda Redd Luko, Luco Luka, Luca Luce Ualo Uala Uake Tono Tona Toneh
