  1. This. Even if you are not playing with a Programmer captain (but for a Programmer playthrough it is much more actual of course). Every action in the Survival punishes a player with the Threat and you cannot do anything about it, like fight the attackers or reduce the Threat somehow. It is like the game is punishing the player for playing it. The Survival is nearly unplayable because of this, and totally not enjoyable. The game's missions require you to try, fail and repeat until you get it right, and this aspect is amplified by the limited number of parts (especially at the start, before you would be able to properly upgrade the ship) that makes you unable to create a universal monster that could do anything. Every mission requires you to construct a specialist drone honed specifically for this single procedurally generated mission, and this is fun by itself and is a good game mechanic, but how could anyone even do this without scouting for mission's challenges and failing several times first?! Punishing the player for just trying different things in a game of this type creates only sheer frustration.
