Sydney woke up to the sound of her alarm clock going off “errrrr.” She groaned as she tried to ignore it, but just then Annie, her little sister, came running into the room. “WAKE UP” her sister yelled. “whyyy” she said, hoping as her sister explained she could get back to sleep. “BECAUSE IT'S SEVEN THIRTY.’’
Annie threw a stuffed animal at her under the canopy over her bed. “but school starts at nine,” she said. “I don't care,” Annie replied. “fine” sydney said then she got up and walked down the hallway that leads to the first floor. When they got to the first floor they went to the bathroom. “You're brushing your teeth first,'' said annie. “I went first last time” said Sydney, but just then their mom walked in. “how about you have breakfast first then we'll talk about this later” she said. “ok,” they said almost in unison. “Can I go to Bobby's after school?” asked Sydney, thinking of how last time they hanged out they ended up doing sword fights with plastic baseball bats. “Yes” said their mom breaking off her train of thought “thanks” she said as she shoved her math book into her bag “don't forget your lunch” said annie as she ran to the door and let their orange cat named orange into the house “i won't” she replied and then she zipped her backpack and then walked across the room and put her socks on “have a good school day” their mom said as they walked down the driveway “hey annie who are you going to sit with?” she asked “gracie” she replied “i'm sitting with abby “ sydney said “you always sit with her” annie replied “i know. ``She said to Annie, she thought, why does Annie care if she sits with Abby? “are you jealous of me being with Abby?” she said in a mocking tone. Just then the bus came
“Good morning” Sydney said to the driver as they got on the bus “hi abby” Sydney said as she sat on the inside of the seat “hi” said Abby . As she sat down she thought of a way they could get together out of school “Abby, do you have any ideas for a club?” she asked “why?” Abby replied “because we barely ever see eachother out of school” “how about this is a real club not just the two of us” said Abby “ya how about we invite people today” sydney said “sure” abby replied “can i tell bobby” asked sydney “sure” abby replied and she turned to the seat next to her “hey bobby wanna create a club with us” she said loudly “why are you making a club” said the girl next to him in a mocking tone “you really dont talk to your diaries anymore haha” said the girl again “ashley don't you have a diary that you kiss goodnight” said bobby in an even better tone “why don't you go hug it i think it's sad” he snapped at her and the other boy in his seat laughed and ashley turned around to face the window.
“So bobby do you want to create a club “ she asked “how about we call it a tribe it sounds cooler” suggested bobby “ we need a tribe name” said abby “how about the raccoon tribe?” said Sydney “ how about we have more than one tribe?” asked bobby “sure” they all agreed “what are the tribe names?” asked bobby “how about they are named after animals” abby advised “sure then one tribe can be called the raccoon tribe” said sydney and just then the bus skidded to a stop and then everyone got up, in the bus line she got knocked into another seat and had to get back up and then she was at the back of the line and after she stepped out the bus doors shut and it drove away then she ran to abby who was talking to another 6th grader and she had a spurt of jealousy since she was in fourth grade “hey abby who are you going to invite to the tribe?” she asked and looked at the flower bushes that lined the front of the gigantic school “i'm going to invite some girls from my class that i'm friends with, who are you inviting?”she answered “some friends in my class also” she said then they walked inside and Abby walked to her classroom which is in the other hall and walked into her classroom and disappeared from sight. “hey Sydney come walk to class with us” said her friend Annalisa startling her, she walked over and they started talking “want to join our tribe” she asked while staring at the doorways to check if they were her classroom “sure why did you even ask you knew i’d say yes” she said with a laugh “i wanted to make sure” she replied matching the laughing tone “what is the tribe name” she asked “the raccoon tribe” she responded instantly knowing she would ask “ how many people have you invited yet” she asked “just two but i will invite more” she said still looking through classroom windows “i have to go to class see you at recess” said Annalisa then she walked into a classroom on the other side of the hall “byeee” she said then walked to her classroom across the hall.
“good morning class” her teacher said as she walked into the room “GOOD MORNING” the whole class said in unison “I am mrs. Carmeno and i will be teaching you math and science” she was looking around the room at the other students and filing their features into her memory “hi Avangeline” she said quietly to the student next to her who she was in class with last year “hi Sydney” she said in a whispering voice “how did we manage to sit right next to each other” she said jokingly “i don't know” said Avangeline “hey Avangeline would you like to join our tribe, the raccoon tribe?” she asked bluntly “sure” she replied as she watched the teacher cautiously “ok class turn to page 83 in your science book” said mrs carmeno, they both turned to page 83 “we will be doing 1 through 21 on fractions” she said, “Ashlynn what is the answer to question 1?” asked mrs carmeno “i think it is five tenths” she responded almost instantly “yes” she said in a pleased tone “that is correct, students write that in your math books” she said “mrs Carmeno?” said a boy in the other row of desks “yes Thomas” she asked “why is number five multiplication?” He asked “it is to see where you are on multiplication” she answered “ok” he said then started drawing on his page which to his advantage mrs. carmeno didn't notice. As she started to doodle on her paper the girl next to her raised her hand “mrs. Carmeno sydney is drawing on her paper” she blurted “thank you molly, sydney your getting half of recess taken away” she said, she wrote on her paper, you'll regret this, to molly and then she jabbed sydney with her pencil in the leg and she grabbed mollys chair and shoved it backwards, molly fell onto the ground and yelled at her “YOU JERK MRS CARMENO SYDNEY SHOVED ME OUT OF MY SEAT” she yelled “YOU STABBED ME WITH A PENCIL” she yelled as she shot molly a glare filled with daggers, “GIRLS IS THIS ANY WAY TO ACT YOU ARE FOURTH GRADERS” she said in a strict tone “sorry mrs carmeno they both said glaring at each other “she started it” said molly in a smug tone “YA BECAUSE YOU WERE BEING A GOODY TWO SHOES!” she yelled in exasperation “YOUR THE ONE THAT BREAKS THE RULES!” Molly yelled as a comeback “GIRLS” she yelled “BOTH OF YOU SEE ME AT RECESS!” Then they were silent and worked coldly, as they worked they sneaked glares at each other then the bell rang for recess “everyone get in line.” she said then they left her and Molly in the room.
“Girls why were you fighting” asked their teacher when she got back “ Sydney was being mean” Molly said “NO I WASN'T” she said, annoyed “can we both have separate conversations with you?” molly suggested “sure sydney go into the hallway and molly i am going to ask you what you think sydney did.” said mrs carmeno then she walked out the door muttering, as she walked out and sat with her back against the cold locker she started studying the walls and counting the pencils drawn on the wallpaper and as time went by silently counting mrs carmeno came out and sent molly to recess “sydney come in and talk with me” she said and grabbed her hand, she smelled like hand sanitizer and she walked like she had a place to be (which she did sort of ) and as she walked in mrs carmeno shut the door and then they started talking “what happened” asked mrs. Carmeno and as her voice cracked sydney explained “Molly told me so I wrote something on my paper then she stabbed me in the leg with a pencil so I threw her out of her chair!” she said all in one breath “ok what did you write on the piece of paper” she asked “i forget” she said completely aware of what she wrote “ok well molly gave me the paper and it says you'll regret this, are you completely aware that it is not okay to threaten other students? She asked “yes but she was the one who STABBED ME!” she pulled up her pants to the red spot where she was poked “ok you can go to the nurse then go to recess” said mrs Carmeno then she opened the door and she sped to the nurses office not wanting to skip a single second of recess, as she got in the door she passed the slip of paper to the nurse and she had stuff rubbed on the mark to clean it then she ran to the recess doors and ran out.
“HEY ANNALEISE” she yelled scanning the crowds, she walked around until she spotted her in the group behind the spider web next to the spinny thingy “hey annalisa” she said and tapped her on the shoulder “hey where were you?” she asked as she shove a boy in the nose “THAT'S WHAT YOU GET THOMAS” she yelled then turned back to sydney “anyway where were you?” she said calmly “molly and i fought” she then showed the red mark “ok what do you want to do?” she asked “want to go around looking for people to join the tribe?” she asked but then their friend elliot came over “hey can i be in the tribe?” he asked then he spotted bobby “hey bobby come over here” he said then bobby walked over “is this about the tribes?” Bobby asked “you know about that bobby?” said Elliot in a surprised tone ’’Yeah,’’ said Bobby ‘’I learned on the bus.’’ Bobby said “I just learned now.” said Elliot “hey guys want to walk around and ask people to join?” asked annalisa “sure!” exclaimed Sydney and then they started walking and talking “ who should we invite?” asked Elliot “how about some of our friends that we see.” annalisa said “yeah we shall do that” she said then they walked down the side of the fence in between the swings and the fence, as they walked they saw a group of kids and went up to them “hi sydney'' said a girl in the group named Avangeline “hi Avangeline!” Sydney said excitedly “want to join a tribe?” asked Elliot quickly “um, sure can i join you?” Avangeline asked “yeah we just asked you to join?” said Bobby awkwardly “no i mean if you are going to walk around can i walk with you.” she responded slowly. “Oh, sure!” they all agreed then continued walking.
As they walked they invited more people wich made their group bigger so then they went back to the spider web “ok now let's tell each other our names incase anyone doesn't know anyone.” said Annalisa in a “i mean business” voice then they started saying names “i am Annalisa.” she said then looked at Elliot "i'm Elliot"
