Iris turned bright red. “Oh really?”

Iris looked up. “So you’re not mad at me? Jeez, my thoughts were eating me alive because I thought you were mad.”

“Sorry.” Iris Said quickly, not looking up.

“That is not cute.” Iris looked into Lockwood’s eyes. “Screw it.” Iris muttered under his breath. He leaned over and gave Lockwood a little kiss on the cheek. “Ok maybe some of the stuff you do is cute.” Iris buried his head in his knees.

“Like we talk about deep stuff. Stuff that makes me remember that other human beings have just as complicated lives as I do.” Iris looked at Lockwood.

Iris sighed. “You know it’s really hard to be mad at you and interrogate you when you’re like this. I try to make myself mad at you and tell myself to stop liking you, but then stuff like this happens and I can’t.”

(Mhm totally angry.)

Iris’s face turned bright red. “I MEAN, I AM SO VERY ANGRY AT YOU LOCKWOOD AND DO NOT FIND YOU ATTRACTIVE IN ANY WAY.”

“So I’m competing with a lion to try and win your heart?”

Iris smirked and chuckled. “Now thats reaaaal mature Lockwood. Now tell me, am I step up from these lions?”

“Go on. I’m not going to kill you for telling the truth for once.”

Iris looked at the bracelet, and then back at Lockwood. “And how exactly is that embarrassing? I thank you for not sending your lions after me when I, well, someone possessing me, tried to kill you.”

Iris didn’t break the eye contact. “Define ‘pets’.”

“Just tell me the significance of the dang bracelet please.” Iris asked. He sat down next to Lockwood but didn’t take the restraints off.

“I just got half possessed by something that tried to torch the guy I half like. Twice. Try me.”

“Don’t lie. You know I can always burn you right?” Iris added. “You forget who holds the power in this situation. I’m the one that has you tied up.”

Iris walked over and rolled up Lockwood’s sleeve to reveal a bracelet. “You’ve been staring at your sleeve because the piece of jewelry under it was fascinating? Was this a gift from Kamado?” Iris asked.

“Hellooooooo? Lockwood?” Iris snapped his fingers in front of Lockwood’s face. “When did your sweatshirt sleeve become so interesting?”

“But I’m still mad at you. How do I know you’re not lying?”

"Ok that's fair. I am very scary." Iris joked.

"Um, no. You still have some explaining to do. Just saying "I like you still" doesn't clear up my main question. Why did you go running back to Kamado?"

"I don't know! The sun's out, maybe you're sunburned or something! You're just trying to play with my emotions again."

"Enlighten me. How am I an idiot now."

"But you were lying about everything else, so why should I believe you? How am I supposed to believe you?"
