'I guess none of us remember much of anything.' He paused walking for a second. 'You need a name, or something like that. I can't just keep calling you big guy.' the spirit grinned. 'What do you want to be called, for now at least?'

The spirit waited for a reply, and started thinking of a name for himself. Words he remembered from the time he was alive were scarce, and he barely understood some of them. Think! What did nichelings always say when they saw you?!

A lot of words floated through his head. Some of them he pushed away without a second thought. Liar. Coward. These words echoed in someone else's voice, something he couldn't quite place. He didn't understand what these words meant but wanted to stop thinking about them as soon as they entered his head. The voice unsettled him. Then another word floated through his mind.Thief. He didn't know what this meant either, but it had a ring to it. Maybe he could get the others to call him that? After all 'guiding' wasn't exactly a proper name either.

'You can call me Thief, for now! I'm sure my real name sounds much better though, I'll find it soon!' he said happily. What would the others think of his nickname? Thief thought it was pretty clever, and it showed he remembered something. That he had a chance at remembering his name. If everyone else believed it, maybe he'd finally start believing it himself when he says he'll remember who he once was.

"I don't know." He said. He tried to think of something. Then the word Sharp popped into his mind. An image flashed in his head. A group of nichelings approaching him. One of them said something about him (the spirit) relating to sharp. Sharp. He liked that word, but he didn't know why.

"You can call me Sharp for now." He said.

'Well, if she left you behind I don't know how valid that advice is.' the spirit said carefully. 'Can you remember what your siblings were like? Did you care about them?' he asked, in an effort to help the big nicheling remember something happier than his mother abandoning him. Don't trust anyone. How strange. Surely you must trust someone.

'Here, let's head back while you talk.' He decided. He had enough of this weird, boring forest.

"I don't remember much about them" He said. Why would our mother tell us to not trust anyone? Did something happen to her that made her that way? I need to know....

    * you remember seeing something in your dreams while sleeping… you tried to put all the pieces of it’s broken face together… you decided to draw it on a small piece of paper nearby *

(sorry for the smol jumpscare!! It was also the thingy Rio glitched into as well as the thing in your dream. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do with it)

She looked at her drawing awkwardly before putting it on her nightstand and trying to go back to sleep. I'll just deal with it tomorrow.

  4. One day, Honeydew returned to the tribe pregnant.

    "Who's the father?" Damian asked.

"A rogue." Honeydew confessed. "I know my time's running out, and soon I'm going to have the same fate as Amanda, so I decided to make sure to pass on my genes." (the father is actually a bearyena haha)

Marilyn sat on the stump, watching over her successful tribe. Suddenly, a yellow nicheling with pale patterns ran out of the grasses, panting heavily. "Could I join this tribe? Please?" He pleaded.

"And why should I trust you?" Marilyn hissed, hackles raised.

"An ape attacked my former tribe, and they told me to run, and so I did. Please, I promise I'll be helpful." He begged.

Marilyn sighed. "Fine. But if I see you doing anything even slightly suspicious, you're off on your own." She said. "What's your name?"

    "Mango."

  5. "Abyss, I'm getting old. I don't have much time left." Amanda confessed. Abyss was shattered. Not only was he losing his mate, but little Mocha would lose her mother.

Sure enough, Amanda's prediction came true, and she died peacefully in her sleep.

"Daddy? What happened to Mommy? Why won't she wake up?" Mocha asked.

"She-She's up in the skies now." Abyss said as he tried to hold back tears.

  6. Soon enough, Amanda gave birth to her and Abyss's child.

"Why does it look like a bearyena?" She asked.

"I have bearyena blood in me. I come from an island that's infested with bearyenas, and so the tribe would often take in baby bearyenas after their mothers were killed. Nichelings would often breed with these friendly bearyenas in hopes for strong children, and it worked."

Amanda smiled. "Well, bearyena-snouted or not, I still love her. How about I call her...Mocha." She curled around her kit.

She abruptly awoke in the middle of the night. The eye necklace was right next to her, even though she put it in another room last night. Huh, that's weird.

He pulled himself out of the water. The large nichelings eyes had flashed to blue for a second, but his own eyes were a faint yellow when he looked at his reflection in the stream. He remembered the other nichelings smile, the bright sun, the shimmer of the water... He shook himself off and turned to look at the nicheling with him. For some reason he didn't want to say anything about his memory. Not yet.

'Yeah, it was nothing. I thought I saw another forgotten nicheling like us, but I was wrong. This place almost makes you see things, eh?' he lied. The lie came easily, and it filled him with another worry: had he been a liar when he was alive? He was always so convinced he had been a good nicheling, forgotten by accident. What if he was forgotten because nobody cared about him? Or worse, hated him? He shoved the thoughts away for a moment. I was a good nicheling. I did good things.

'You alright?' he asked softly. The big nichelings eyes were white again, but still had a faint blue tinge to them.

"I-I had a flashback. There was...white stuff everywhere. I had 4 siblings near me. We were very small. Our mother was near us. She said that if she kept us, the tribe would exile her. She told us one last thing: Don't trust anyone."

Don't trust anyone. Don't trust anyone. The words repeated in his head over and over.

'Great!' the spirit chirped, and started walking into the swamp. In there, there were at least some landmarks, but out in the fog there was nothing. He shuddered to think what might happen if he got lost. He walked past a lot of boring things, and encountered no one. A couple of bugs flew by, but everytime he tried to swat them, his paw passed through them as if they were made of air. He finally reached a stream. The water was dark, and very cold, he shuddered as he put his paw in. Suddenly his mind seemed somewhere else.

There was someone in front of him. Why were they so fuzzy? Why couldn't he remember? The nicheling laughed. Everything felt so bright. The stream was a bright blue now.

'Well come on then, stupid!' the nicheling teased. They started running off down the stream.

'Coming!' another nicheling said. It sounded exactly like him. Was it him?

'W-wait! Come back!' he called, his voice pleading. He tried to run after this strange memory, down the stream, but it got further and further away. The laughing started to fade, the brightness leaving.

'Please!' despair started to creep into his voice. He tripped and fell, and landed in the muddy part of the stream. The memory faded. He cursed loudly getting up and glaring at his paw. Stupid. The anger filled him. Why couldn't he catch up? He was left with more questions than he started with.

He made his way towards the nicheling. "Where were you going?" He asked. "Did you see something?" Suddenly, he stumbled and his paw fell into the water. It felt...cold. He shuddered.

A flash of memory appeared. His eyes flashed blue.

White stuff....all around him. It was really cold. He was very small. Other small nichelings next to him, with huge fangs just like him. Siblings?

A large nicheling was near them. She had huge fangs too. She looked upset. "I'm sorry my little ones, but I have to leave you here. If I were to keep you, the tribe would exile me." Tears started welling up in her eyes. "I love you so much. Just remember one important thing: Don't trust anyone." The nicheling swiftly left.

"Mommy?" He called out. But she was gone.

The memory faded. His eyes flashed back to white. Don't trust anyone....

The spirit glanced back at the others. The nervous one was being comforted by guiding, while Venom snout guy was off by himself. The larger one was still beside him, looking at the ground. So is this everyone? Or are there more people who have forgotten?

Though he hated to say it, no one here was exactly useful in making him remember. Maybe if he ventured further into the swamp,he would find something. But not by himself, obviously.

'Hey, big guy, you wanna go and explore the swamp with me?' the larger nicheling seemed kind of gruff, but the spirit didn't mind him. He was alright company once you got used to him.

    (sorry i was asleep)

He paused. "...Ok." He was still wary of this nicheling, but at least he could fight them off if they did betray him. And plus, he might discover more about himself.
