I would, but I'm not sure if they're even available in Finnish... I need to find out. I hear they're written by one of the Erins.

In my opinion Wings of Fire isn't that good but you know that's just me.

So you don't read books in english Lilytuft? :)

I think the good thing about pregnancy is that the player can decide the amount of a time a creature will be pregnant by not putting her on a nest, so if someone feels like pregnancy should last longer with longer lifespans, all they have to do is avoid placing the mother on a nest.

@ArtisticToad Currently, there is no option for pregnancy duration. But I agree that we have to consider it.

I agree in general. A pregnancy slider to set the days before anything happens when you place the mother on the nest still might not be the worst idea. It would be great for challenges and you couldn't cheat.

If we only had no slider or slider I'd just leave it as it currently is. Though having a Nicheling that lives for 300 days or so and remembering every time when you want to put her on a nest might become cumbersome so some indication (or slider) could be useful. Really depends on how complicated it would be to implement as I feel this is not a hard need for the sandbox options.

Really? To be honest I kinda got bored reading Moth Wing’s Flight. Somehow I still finished it, though! And, on the subject of sad books, I don’t really have a specific book I thought was sad, but for some reason Hollyleaf’s death kinda tugged at my heart.

Yeah, when a certain somebody died (I don't want to say the name because of spoilers) I just cried. Warriors has the tendency to make me cry ^^

For me, one of the saddest books is Bluestar's Prophecy. But other than that, it's mainly just certain character deaths.

For me the saddest book by far is Hawkwing's Journey. My heart aches just thinking about it.

I have four clans, Hollyclan, Hawkclan, Slateclan, and Willowclan. There is another clan that has been lost, Ashclan. They are named a little bit weirdly since they were named after the founding cats. I have five main ocs, Brokenflame, Shadowscar, Stormwhisker, Bluebreeze, and Berrymist. I'm currently working on a story, but It's going to be more like a couple Super Additions put together.

My clans are named after the surroundings they are in DeepClan lives in the lowest part of the forest with a huge cliff face separating them from most of the forest. MeadowClan lives in a light forest which is flooded regularly and GrasslandClan is much like WindClan living in the moorland hunting bunnies :D At the point I named the clans I didn't have their backstory so I didn't name them after any founders

Currently reading Night Whispers at the moment, but I’m fully aware of what has happened in most books. I’ve also read Moth Wing’s Flight, touched Crookedstar’s Promise but never really picked it up, and read The Rise Of Scourge.

Aw man Mothwing's Flight made me cry like a baby.

I agree on the front of if, for roleplay purposes, the rogue male did nothing wrong and lived a happy life so therefore he is not looked down upon, but just in general rogue males are, in their simplest form, nicheling rapists, and people saying they do not deserve to be seen as bad makes me really annoyed.

the thing with you forcing nichelings to mate is an interesting argument, though. my say is that most people roleplay their nichelings growing to love eachother, but if a match is forced for the purposes of survival, im ok with that because its not plainly "a nicheling just raped one of your nichelings" and it is a clickable option you trigger, so technically it isn't one nicheling deciding to rape the other.

that isn't even my point, I dont even mind rogue males existing, I just dont like the way some people treat them nicely. if a specific rogue male never breeds with your nichelings and lives a happy life, maybe even having a female breed with it if they become close, im ok with that because that specific rogue male is not a rapist in your tribe and did not rape anyone; what I dislike is rogue males in general being seen as fine, because that is saying rapists are ok, which they are not. not in any way, shape or form is rape ok.

now some people may say, for example, a rogue male isn't raping your females and just seducing them and then mating with them, but that makes no sense. your female can be attacking the rogue male, but still, he makes her pregnant. it is 100% rape, to clear that up.

what I think might be happening is that it is not actually stated "rouge males= rapists" anywhere, and children are not aware of what rape actually is, and that is what rogue males do, or maybe children have never learnt about rape at all, so they think this is ok and say they are fine. there are, to me, two solutions:

-remove rogue males. it would remove a large challenge of the game, and balancing may need to be done, but removing them entirely would be a quick fix. however, people would still remember them, so the problem hasn't been completely solved.

-add a notification when the game starts. something along the lines of "note: animals will appear in this game called rogue males, and they are nicheling rapists with bad genes, made to further challenge the player. if you are unaware of what rape is, ask your parents now, and they can tell you or disable them in the settings menu." and add a way to disable them. I think this is the best way to handle rouge males.

I do love this game, but the rogue males are one of the few things I dislike about this game. you can tell the devs (who I absolutely love and have made my favourite game of all time) have implemented rogue males not considering their demographic, and avoided explicitly using the word "rape" to avoid complications, leading to a community with some people who think creatures, that are rapists, are ok. in my eyes that is kind of immature and I hope it is fixed.

I think you are putting way to many human emotions into this. Animals don't rape. They just want to pass on their genetic heritage. They run on instinct. They don't have morals or consent. They aren't good or evil. They just want to survive and pass on their genes. That is what they do. Males and females.

When the notification about a rogue male breading with a female in game shows up it says 'a female bread with a rogue male' so technically the rogue males do nothing.

"But my female attacked the rogue and he still did it" she wanted to test his strength. He proved that he was strong enough/ persistent enough and therefore qualified to pass on his genes. (Cats do that from time to time. In many species the males have to prove themselves)

Yes rape is bad but there is no rape in Niche. Yes the descision is forced on the player but just we force everything on the Nichelings. Also the player isn't the Nichelings. Humans don't understand the bare need for genetic survival. Nichelings are animals. They just want to pass on their genes and when there isn't a good made chosen for them they choose themselves.

No one goes and looks at cats mating and says "wow that she-cat was totally raped and is now traumatized for the rest of their life". Because she isn't. Animals aren't traumatized by this. They don't judge. They don't hold grudges. They move on always trying to do the best with what they've got.

So I highly disagree with you saying that rogue males symbol rape. They symbol a part of nature, they symbol something we can't control, we can't control nature and imposing our human standards on it will do nothing but harm. Uncontrolled mating is a part of nature, rape isn't.

  8. I have a three full blown OC clans: MeadowClan, DeepClan and GrasslandClan (the translations are not the best in german it's: AuenClan, TiefenClan und WiesenClan). My main OC lives in MeadowClan, her name is Bloodstar and she is the leader. My sister and I did the three clans and roleplayed with them every time we went up to the forest to walk the dog. One day I decided I have put so much work into them I want to make them a book and I am currently working on that (planning it to be a trilogy) :)

I have read almost all Warriors Books so far apart from a few novellas that are only available as e-books (I don't like e-books but I am planning on getting them eventually) I am really dreading the new season coming up in april because of the ominous title 'The broken code'

  9. I hate it. You only get the pretty starters when you don't plan on a serious playthrough but when you want some great starters you literally have to restart 3000 times (if you don't want to use the console).

Also this is great. You should probably do some testing of the drowning issue. Sometimes Nicheling with the same body type and same age take different amounts of drowning damage on the archipelago. I always guessed that is a bug but maybe you can find out something more :D

  10. The console will lead to those bugs but if you exit the game completly after using the console they will not jump to other safe files. They can even help with the console safe file. Usually I recommend after heavy use of the console before skipping the day to exit the game completly and reenter. That fixes a lot of issues :)

Thank you both! Sounds like story is the main thing (they did not make it clear that I needed home island immunity at the end, so that's a little frustrating--I'll have to start over after 150 days).

When I played sandbox, it did not randomly do the islands. I finished the island I started on (I randomly chose whale island) and then it asked me which island I wanted to go to next, which clued me into it not being the base game.

Apparently the goal is kind of unclear, so I might give that as feedback.

You can still play your safe file normally even after 'finishing' the story mode. So it is a rather soft goal.

Also something you should be aware of in story mode whale island will only show you islands of the difficulty you already have unlocked. If you find it in story mode without having been to hard or killer islands you will no be able to access them until you have reached them manually through travelling. While travelling the following rule goes: Left port (left from the port you landed on) easier island, right island of same difficulty and up/ norht harder island if there is no north port always go right :)

  12. Story mode is sort of the main game play and currently you can't turn the tutorial off (I wish we could) but you can suggest it in feature requests. The aim of Story Mode is to get to home island with the home island immunity (passed down from Adam) in Story Mode as said above you have to unlock the higher difficulty islands but the islands themselves are still random (inside the difficutly you are still on). Also you can only unlock all genes in story mode as there is a certain gene you only get when you have home island immunity and reach the home island.

Sandbox mode let's you choose which island you want to start on but you can't have home island immunity and 'finish' the story mode line. Otherwhise sandbox is pretty much the same just that the appearance of the islands is a lot less linear. (Also there is a big sandbox update planned so keep your eyes out for that)

    Hope that helps :)
