What toys growing up captured your fascinations and entranced you?
German toys, high quality rubber/ plastic things and that is only half of my collection * puffs chest proudly* (still collecting though the newer toys suck in looks and quality).
3 hours ago, Markus said:Have you participated in Sport or Music competitions before? Do you like it, do you do it regularly?
I played football (the european one where you play with your FOOT) for some time but didn't like it very much (I am not much of a team player) and then I did a horse riding competition thingy once and I hated it. I love riding to death but I hate competitions of any form. It is bad for people and for horses.
My Question:
What is your dream? Can be anything

My faws are Wasptail, Marshbrach, Ratstar and Shiningtooth. Marshbrach had a really interesting personality!
Ratstar is one of my favs as well. Marshbranch was cool (hence why she became deputy) and I loved Shiningtooth mostly for his looks (I was so sad when his only child rolled a sickness death). Wasptail was cool as well

From what I've learned as a rat owner, it's not the animal's lifespan that matters. I'll be really happy if I can have a tribe like Ossen's, but with longer lifespans. (Also if we can customize our starters, I'll literally clone Ossen XD)
That doesn't make the farewell any easier though (I love rats, had some a while back, will have some in the future

You know what occured to me the other day?
When our Nichelings will live loner we will be able to get even more attached to the little critter. How heartbreaking will it be when they finally pass away?! *sniffs a little*
And yes I know we could make them immortal with the console but that isn't really the point ^^

i don't know about anyone else but i for one support this because usually, you just need an emergency turn altho i also think that this should be a gene and not a base feature
Benifits: gives an emergency escape on last gem only
Debufs: if last gem is used, necheling would get sleapy aka leaving him with only 3/2 gems againI think I made a suggestion about that once with adrenaline points activating when your Nicheling is next to a predator and runs out of turns or is hunting and runs out of turns, these situations would then activate one more turn/ point for the nicheling (namely adrenaline) and you could flee or do whatever

Well I thin this wouldn't work the way it was implemented back in the day but with longer lifespans coming having four action points all the time would be more useful, but I don't think it is needed for shorter lifespans. That said I think as an option for sandbox it would play along nicely
And I have played the older version when it came out and let me tell you 4 points are nice but 2 are way to slow, three was actually a really good middle

Maybe when the fur gets messy a younger Nicheling can lick it to make it tidy again? Because in my mind my tribe members would make sure that the fur of their elders was well kept (shouldn't be to hard to implement either because licking is already a part of the game).
I would really like to see the fur around the snout turning white or grey like it does with dogs sometimes

No worries, I'm not offended in the slightest. I totally agree with you about the pricing of Wacom products!
It really is dependent of your budget: If a Xp-pen 22E is about $600 (if I understand that right from your comment), then maybe a iPad Pro 12.9 1st generation is also a viable option. The pen experience there is very very good in my opinion. Of course, you buy into the Apple ecosystem and their pricing model is the same as Wacom ^^'.
I have someone in the office who bought a tablet display from Aliexpress for a very good price. I'll ask him when I see him and forward his opinion.
I already have an apple phone (though not bought my family usually gets them with our phone contracts) so buying into the apple thing wouldn't be that big an issue, but I agree their pricing is the same as wacom. So yeah not so sure about the Ipad, might be useful but I kinda want shortcut keys for drawing and got super annoyed with the touch on my old tablet. But I'll consider it (might be usefull for the e-book reading as well that I am planning *starts thinking*), I heard that the apple pencil is pretty good for drawing but you have to buy it extra, same for the keyboard sheath (don't even know if every tablet can use this but would love it). Also Ipad won't have desktop apps.
Oh yeah I'd be super interested in the opinion of your co-worker
Also glad you weren't offended I guessed you wouldn't be but you can't be careful these days on the internet ^^

I have some experience with all kind of different tablets and display tablets. Some thoughts:
- Wacom has the best experience from all of them, period. I'm talking about stand-alone display tablets only here (not counting Apple iPad). With experience I mean pen-handling and first and foremost Drivers.
- Wacom are the most expensive of them all, but a second-hand one is way cheaper and might still get a better experience than other brands.
- There are display tablets which use Wacom technology (like the dell canvas or Samsung Android tablets) but they use a very old system and are not equal to the newer Wacom products. If you have the money to spare and can choose between a new (or old) Wacom device and a other-brand device which uses wacom technology, choose the Wacom one (mostly because of drivers)
- I don't have experience with many other pen-types but I used AES technology pens before (those which need batteries). This technology is e.g. used in the Microsoft Surface Tablets and the Lenovo Pen-enables notebooks. They are okay to use and I know people who use them heavily and are happy with them. But compared to the Wacom products, they are inferior in pen handling and again, drivers. (imo)
- I really rave about Wacom here, but this is because I really really dislike hardware and software which does not work as intended and doesn't give me a seamless experience. The main reason why I like them is because they have years of experience making drivers which work seamless with the operating system and you are free to set them up the way you want. This is something which from my experience is the biggest problem I have with the other brands. Even Microsoft, which has their Surface Tablets and Pens and can control the whole pipeline from hardware to software does not get it right. You have to setup several settings before you are able to use the pen properly for painting. As an another anecdote: A lot of people complain about Wacom and drivers not working, especially about 1 year ago in conjunction with Adobe Photoshop. The problem there was, that Windows itself changed a setting behind the scenes with an update and did not inform Wacom about it. So for a few days people went crazy that their product stopped working and had to find solutions for it. Wacom fixed it with a simple toggle in their driver, where you can turn on/off the freehand/windowsInk option (which broke everything), but nowadays when you search, you probably still find all these driver issues first before getting the right answer
- On the other hand. After using display tablets for a while and normal tablets for much longer, I have to say that I'm not so sure that I prefer the display tablets to work on. I have a 27inch Dell Canvas at home (similar to Wacom Cintiq 27QHD) to work with, but for the time being I prefer a simple Intuos to work with. Especially for painting I prefer the tablets instead of the displays, because the hand is in the way.
- So my advice is: What do you want to use the new device for and what to you already own? Do you want to focus on drawing instead of painting, then a display tablet might be a cool thing. Do you paint more than drawing, maybe a display tablet is not the best thing. Do you want to do it for fun and yourself or for work? If you want to draw a lot just for fun with a bit of coloring, maybe a iPad with Apple Pencil & Procreate is the best thing you can get currently (quality+convenience/price). If you want to work professionally, meaning, a lot of editing with different tools, file sharing with others, etc. then a desktop system might be more useful. If you want to get a display tablet, maybe wait and save a bit to get a second-hand or newer and smaller cintiq and use a intuos for the time being. If you get another brand display tablet, try to find someone/somewhere where you try it first. Or you buy a very very cheap one and then it won't hurt as much if it does not work the way you intended. So go for the cheapest and smallest one might be my guess in this case.
This is only my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt.
Sorry for the long rant
Thanks for the detailed answer. I am currently (well currently might be a bit stretched as I haven't used it in a few months) using the small intuos draw. I would like to use my new tablet for painting and drawing. The thing is I really don't like how my art turns out with a graphic tablet. Everything is always somewhat crooked because my hand eye coordination doesn't get along with drawing on the tablet and seeing it on screen and it is really frustrating for me to practice when I hate how it feels and usually don't like the outcome. So I don't think buying a bigger Intuos would fix my problem.
I'll be honest here I am not a fan of wacom, yes they are the best but they are absolute assholes on the way they price their products just because the are the brand leader (I mean (and you shall here me rant now^^) the newest cintiqe has a touch option for 500dollars more which doesn't work right, it doesn't have hotkeys (if I remember correctly you have to buy the remote extra), oh and you have to buy the ergo stand thingy (again 500 more) and still costs almost as much as small used up car, oh but yes the drivers work nice and the pen is good. Geez I rather take my car (or a horse for that matter) thanks) (not attacking you just my opinion on wacom)). So I really don't want to buy a cintiq, not even a "cheap" one because the old cintiqes have worse tech sometimes than the newer tablets from other brands (and I mean the old cintique 13 HD is still 800-900 dollar for that I can get the Xp-pen 22E pro and still save about 200 dollar). Still I totally get why people would rather go for a wacom (you know what you get and their tablets usually last a long time, no parallax and pen tilt (no idea what that does ^^), though I had some issues with the drivers myself so I really can't give them points for that XD ... guess I have to apologize for my rant now
I just want to use the new tablet for myself, I really don't think for my hobby that a Cintique is worth it. Choosing the cheapest in case it doesn't work isn't a bad idea
I'll see if I can find a place which sells some other display tablets.
Again Thanks for your detailed answer

I don't personally have any display tablet wisdom, however I don't suggest getting a Huion. Different animators have complained about different problems such as the charging/connection cable dying, software incompatibility ect ect.
Yeah, that's what I heard too but whenever I hear something bad there is a bunch of people saying something good, but I'll keep that in mind

So with christmas approaching I am looking into upgrading from my graphic tablet to a display tablet for drawing (so that I can draw on the screen) and I wanted to ask if you guys have any experience with display tablets. I have already watched a lot of reviews and even before that I knew that a cintique is not an option because I still need all of my organs.
So I have been mainly looking at Xp-pen and Huion. Originally I thought Huion but for their new tablets the line quality is kinda bad (also read some bad reviews). Also I really, really like the new pen of the Xp-pen 12 (and it is super affordable) but I kinda want to go for something bigger. Maybe the xp-pen artist 22E pro? So yeah...
Do you guys have a display tablet (preferably that is not from Wacom) and some input?

Hierarchy:
Leader: Frogstar- brown she-cat; mentor of Hollypaw
Deputy: Frostshadow- golden and red spotted tom
Healers:
Crouchfawn- orange and cream masked tom
Ebonywing- dark red striped tom
Warriors:
Willowmouse- orange and grey masked tom
Oddstrike- blind, orange and grey spotted tom
Skystep- pink striped she-cat
Furledpetal- yellow tom
Curlwhisper- beautiful, cream she-cat
Lightningtooth- black she-cat
Shybee- brown striped tom
Whisperinghorse- brown tom
Queens: -
Apprentices:
Hollypaw- black tom with a beak for a snout
Elders:
Dawnblaze- orange she-cat
Icescar- dark red she-cat
Finskip- golden striped she-cat
Whisperinghorse gets his warrior name.
Willowmouse and Lightningtooth start a family. They have Snookkit and Twigkit.
Snookkit wants to be brave, wouldn't be a good warrior and loves the leader.
Twigkit is happy, wants other cats to be happy and isn't ambitious.
Ebonywing invites the sick Koko into the tribe on her last day so that she may die in peace.
A young beaked she-cat appears right next to Hollypaw, of course he has to invite her in. She is like him, when no one else is! Her name is Sootburrow and she wants to be a great warrior despite her crippled paws.
Hollypaw gets his warrior name Hollyfall.
Skystep decided to have a whirlwind romance with a rogue male because she doesn't feel like there are fitting partners for her. She gives birth to Otterkit.
Otterkit is charming, peaceful and a bad fighter.
Frogstar starts a family with Ebonywing and Frostshadow is courting Curlwhisper.
Frogstar and Ebonywing have Turtlekit and Meltingkit.
Turtlekit is hostile, intimidating, but somehow still popular.
Meltingkit is bad with kits, strange and hard working.
Curlwhisper and Frostshadow have Brightkit and Creekkit.
Brightkit is intimidating, an explorer and has a high sense of morals.
Creekkit wants to be a good fighter, is shy and is positive.
Snookpaw becomes a healer apprentice not only because he is bad at being a warrior but also because he is very peaceful.
Crouchfawn asks Skystep to have a child with him before he passes, as her rogue male friend has left her and she feels sad she agrees. She gives birth to Shiningkit.
Shiningkit wans to be a good fighter, is intimidating and wants other to be happy.
Shybee mentors Twigpaw. Whisperinghorse mentors Otterpaw and Furledpetal mentors Turtlepaw. Lightningtooth becomes mentor of Brightpaw.
Frostshadow passes away, Frogstar has a hard time accepting it. No other warrior would be a good successor. Whisperinghorse would lead the clan into too much battle, Furledpetal doesn't care enough about morals and Shybee doesn't care enough about the warrior code. In the end she has to choose somebody though. Lightningtooth comes to mind, she is younger and less experienced but she is popular with the clan and very skilfull but due to her being intimidating she is used to getting her will. Frogstar chooses Lightningtooth as her deputy.
Hollyfall mentors Meltingpaw.
A bearyena attacks Snookpaw while he is out gathering herbs, thankfully he can run away fast enough and Lightningtooth jumps in to help. They lure the bearyena out into the open and Lightningtooth and Whisperinghorse defeat it.
Frogstar has passed away and despite her short time as deputy Lightningtooth becomes leader.
Snookpaw gets his healer name Snookmist. Ebonywing himself is on his last day and he hopes that JuniperClan will manage with a new leader and a new medicine cat.
Lightningstar names Otterpaw, Twigpaw and Turtlepaw warriors: Otterbark, Twigstone and Turtlepatch. (Funnily enough I accidentally named Twigstone Twigbranch at first (everybody who has read the new season of warriors knows why lol)).
Skystep becomes mentor of Creekpaw and Curlwhisper mentor of Shiningpaw.
Lightningstar names Whipseringhorse her deputy.
Lightningstar tells the clan to prepare to move on. She hopes the whale will listen to their wishes.
Brightpaw gets her warrior name Brightpeak.
Skystep who is already old decides to stay on the whale.
Left to right: Sootburrow, Curlwhisper, Brightpeak, Meltingpaw, Turtlepatch, Hollyfall, Shiningpaw, Snookmist, Lightningstar, Shybee, Twigstone, Furledpetal, Whisperinghorse, Creekpaw and Otterbark.
Random generator decides: overgrown jungle
They reach the new island, it is unlike anything JuniperClan has ever seen. A strip of swamp seems familiar and Snookmist gets a message from StarClan that the swamp will lead them but they need to find the roots to unblock the travelling ports.
Lightningstar starts a family with Furledpetal. They have Jaggedkit and Lappingkit.
Jaggedkit is a bad fighter, would be a bad med-cat but he is a good hunter.
Lappingkit is brave, loves his clan and wants to move territories.
Sootburrow starts a family with Hollyfall. They have Heronkit and Shadekit.
Heronkit is happy, not ambitious but wants to be intimidating.
Shadekit is good with kits, isn't brave and wouldn't be a good leader.
Meltingpaw gets her warrior name Meltingear. Creekpaw gets his warrior name Creekspeckle. Shiningpaw is named Shiningtooth.
Otterbark becomes Jaggedpaw’s mentor.
Otterbark starts a family with Whisperinghorse, but she only gives birth once Jaggedpaw is a warrior. They have Fawnkit and Thornkit.
Fawnkit wants to be brave, wants a connection to StarClan and is ambitious.
Thornkit is a skilled hunter, wants others to be happy and is moody.
Heronpaw becomes Snookmist’s apprentice.
Jaggedpaw gets his warrior name Jaggedpoppy
Shybee and Turtlepatch find the last root to clear the way, it is Shybee's last day as well. Turtlepatch will honour his memory when he comes back to the clan.
A wanderer appears, he looks very froglike, his name is Brambleleg. He is very friendly and wants his clanmates to like him.
Lappingpaw becomes Creekspeckle's apprentice.
Whisperinghorse retires and Lightningtooth has the choice between Creekspeckle and Otterbark. She chooses Creekspeckle, he might be a little shy but he is a good fighter and friendly.
Shiningthooth becomes mentor of Fawnpaw. Brightpeak becomes mentor of Shadepaw.
Twigstone and Jaggedpoppy start a family. They have Gorsekit.
Gorsekit would be a great leader, is not ambitious and is bad with kits.
At this point the clan has followed the swamp patch and reached the travelling ports.
Heronpaw gets his healer name Heronskip.
Lappingpaw gets his warrior name Lappingdapple.
Turtlepatch becomes mentor of Thornpaw.
Now everything goes pretty quickly, Turtlepatch tells Thornpaw everything about Shybee and she goes to the new island together with Creekstar, Brightpeak, Meltingear, Heronskip, Lappingdapple and Gorsepaw.
Creekstar names Brightpeak his deputy and makes Lappingdapple mentor of Gorsepaw. The young warrior usually wouldn’t have gotten an apprentice so soon but with 7 clan members warriors have to grow up faster.
Brightpeak gives birth to a sick child from Shiningtooth and it dies at birth. The she-cat is devastated but she knows that she still has duties to fulfil and as she is already in love with Creekstar she starts a family with him. They have Midgekit and Tanglekit.
Midgekit loves the leader, wants many kits and is not brave.
Tanglekit would be a great leader, she wants to be popular and she is bad with kits.
Meltingear, on the same day, gives birth to the first purr snout baby. It is from Turtlepatch and Thornpaw insist that the little she-cat is named Shykit especially because she even looks like Shybee. Meltingear never met Shybee but she knew he was an important warrior and so she agrees.
Shykit is a skilled hunter, wants others to be happy and is not to happy with the leader.
Thornpaw gets her warrior name Thornlight.
Heronskip and Meltingear start a family to provide the clan with more warriors. They have Sorrelkit and Sheepkit.
Sorrelkit is intimidating, aggressive and doesn't care about the warrior code.
Sheeppatch is not brave, shy and loves the leader.
Shypaw is named Heronskip's apprentice which she is none too happy about, just because she has purr snout. She doesn't like Creekstar that much.
Gorsepaw gets her warrior name Gorsebreeze. Brightpeak retires and Lappingdapple becomes deputy.
Midgepaw becomes Thornlight's apprentice. Gorsebreeze heads out into the swamp to explore. Gorsebreeze finds a wandering she-cat named Raggedice who just wants to be accepted into the clan.
Sorrelpaw becomes Lappingdapple's apprentice and Tanglepaw becomes Creekstar's apprentice.
Sheeppaw becomes Gorsebreeze's apprentice.
Midgepaw gets his warrior name Midgeshell. Tanglepaw and Sorrelpaw get their warrior names Tanglepatch and Sorrelstone. Sheeppaw gets his warrior name Sheeppatch.
Shypaw gets her healer name Shyapple.
Lappingdapple and Shyapple start their family. They have Mossykit, Aspenkit, Vixenkit and Buzzardkit (and apparently they used a cloning machine).
Mossykit is not good at keeping peace, not popular but a good warrior.
Aspenkit has many skills, she is not intimidating and isn't to happy with the leader.
Vixenkit wants to move, is a skilled hunter and wants a connection to StarClan.
Buzzardkit is a bad hunter, wants to uphold the warrior code and wants to move.
Creekstar passes away and Lappingstar takes his place naming Thornlight his deputy.
Thornlight and Midgeshell start a family. They have twins Rookkit and Firekit and the last kit is Briarkit.
Rookkit is happy, a bad hunter and not happy with the leader.
Firekit is not ambitious, wants to be brave and is hard working.
Briarkit would be a great leader, is a great fighter and wants a connection to StarClan.
Sheeppatch who set out to cut down the normal berry bush in the old camp, hears a bearyena growl and hurries back after quickly cutting down the bush.
The bearyena reaches the new territory of JuniperClan and is quickly taken down by Sheeppatch and Sorrelstone.
Red is the old territory and blue the new.
Tanglepatch becomes mentor of Mossypaw.
Gorsebreeze and Sheeppatch start a family. They have Dawnkit followed by twins Lightkit and Squirrelkit.
Dawnkit is attractive, an explorer and a hunter.
Lightkit wants to have many kits, wants to move and has many skills.
Squirrelkit is popular, is intimidating and wants many kits.
Midgeshell becomes mentor of Aspenpaw. Sorrelstone becomes mentor of Rookpaw and Sheeppatch becomes mentor of Firepaw.
Mossypaw gets his warrior name Mossyice.
Thornlight retires and Tanglepatch takes her place, she also becomes mentor of Briarpaw.
Vixenpaw becomes Shyapple's apprentice. Dawnpaw becomes Sorrelstone's second apprentice.
Aspenpaw, Rookpaw and Firepaw get their warrior names Aspenmask, Rookleaves and Firetoe.
Sheeppatch becomes mentor of Buzzardpaw, Midgeshell becomes mentor of Lightpaw and Mossyice becomes mentor of Squirrelpaw.
Dawnpaw and Briarpaw get their warrior names Briarsky and Dawnleaves.
Lappingstar passes away, Tanglestar takes his place and names Sorrelstone her deputy.
Sheeppatch and his apprentice Buzzardpaw find a she-cat eating from a lonely normal berry bush. Her name is Heavyminnow and she is very strange. Sheeppatch is unsure about what to do with her but she isn’t very strong so she can’t do much harm when he invites her in. He is also very peaceful and wouldn’t want to attack a cat that isn’t attacking him.
Lightpaw, Buzzardpaw and Squirrelpaw get their warrior names Lightmask, Buzzardbrook and Squirreltail.
Vixenpaw gets her healer name Vixenmist.

My ideal collectors for sleepy reeds or whatever the hard swamp island is called were:
Toxic body, bearyena hind legs, horns, stinky tail, sabre fangs, mega horns, double runners leg and big ears. That way you can collect the toxic berries, kill bearyenas and run decently fast.
On Long winter I'd recommend sabre fangs, mega horns, heat body and hammer tail, I haven't deciced on the other genes yet though. Strength and speed are both very important on the snow islands to catch bunnies and a little bit of poison is always good for the walrus deer and balance bears so the ocassional Nicheling with poison fangs is a big help.
Deadly Hills is one of my personal favourites the only thing you really need are poison fangs (can be exchanged for toxic body or scorpion tail) and enough strength to take down the killer bearyena's otherwhise you have a really wide variety of genes you can use
(I settled on poison fangs, bearyena claw on at least one paw, hammer tail, mega horns, normal hind legs.)
Oasis is also lovely: double claw, tail fin, water body, cracker jaw (optional, I never find enough shells to actually need the cracker jaw), webbed hind legs, big ears,
Jungle: Armored or lean body, black fur, spots or stripes, big ears, big nose, stinky tail, mega horns, a little bit of strength and collecting so either bearyena hind legs or bearyena claw and nimble fingers
Home island you just need something to crack nuts with
