A Poisonous Privilege (216-221 days in)

From perspectives of Onion and Parrot.

20210410211932_1.thumb.jpg.a265e01fcc5be82db1214646f1e703f4.jpg

Onion had always been pressured to live up to his mother's legacy.

Moose never really wanted him, even though he pretended he did. But Moose did keep the powerful nicheling around, since he was Quartz's only living child. Opal at least made it clear she didn't want him.

But for now, the nichelings of the Burning Empire were preparing for battle against a balance bear. Or at least, getting away from it.

20210410212051_1.thumb.jpg.61264e91c74898c60c83e0bec6ffd1f9.jpg

Parrot did, in fact, see them. So even if they escaped the balance bear, the Frozen Empire would be on their trail.

Parrot himself didn't feel particularly murderous or genocidal. Actually, he was quite the opposite. So even when Forest had told him, that he was the child of Pine, a nicheling from the Burning Empire, he felt like denying it.

But deep down, he knew it was true. Luckily, nobody else needed to know his lineage...

Except for the Burning Empire. And if he got on their bad side.. they could ruin him.

20210410212142_1.thumb.jpg.1b3e9f94724bc9b40b546af7815a59dd.jpg

Onion, Opal and Moose were all preparing for Opal's child. Tomorrow, she could give birth, and expand the Empire.

Onion thought that they were still to close to the balance bear, but of course, didn't mention it. Quartz hadn't particularly been a loving and caring parent. If he proved he could finish what she started, then maybe..

maybe she would finally send a sign that someone, dead or alive, loved him.

20210410212210_1.thumb.jpg.74f4fb60e81d1dab407b4711eeb26ec1.jpg

The next day, Opal made her nest. Onion brought his head out of the clouds; for now, he needed to help his father and stepmother.

20210410212427_1.thumb.jpg.b868ee4e5c6aa995643faca138928ec1.jpg

Opal gave birth to Lichen, a broad-jawed male who could crack bones as easily as cracking nuts.

The love they gave to the child was indescribably infuriating to Onion, but he curled his claws in and bit his tongue. Soon.

20210410212622_1.thumb.jpg.1a64f3c0033819ba592ece186a7d2815.jpg

Meanwhile, old Thornbush was taking the lead of the Frozen Empire nichelings. But she needed to stop.

Not only because of her age.. because she wouldn't last another day.

20210410212823_1.thumb.jpg.ffdf766d6b9ef61ea905a798b908ed06.jpg

Thornbush was at her end. Sakura, her old friend, sat beside her, as well as Almond and Mud, and as close as she could to Forest and Salvador.

It was time..

but then.

20210410212737_1.thumb.jpg.fdad85feac24a65213f6437d2df91109.jpg

A: "Mother. Before you're gone.. I need to know something."

T: "Yes, my daughter?"

A: blurting "Listen.. you've always obsessed over Forest, my entire life. I need to know.. did you ever love me?"

Forest stared at Almond in disbelief, and pity. And.. envy?

Thornbush stared between her two daughters for a long moment.

But it was already too late.

20210410212848_1.thumb.jpg.5d6bde696768e0a4773ee90cefde6990.jpg

She fell into a pile of bones, joining her beloved mate in the afterlife.

Almond stared down at her mother's remains for a long moment.

20210410212941_1.thumb.jpg.99f1f129371ce7eaee61acab01a8581d.jpg

And without a word, she curled into a nest beside her mother's corpse. Salvador was going to bury them, when-

20210410213044_1.thumb.jpg.4c8f28657a6e3f5c617f43b1d33fefab.jpg

Parrot had seen nothing like the small child before.

Its fangs were too small to be that of saber fangs.

Its eyes weren't big enough to be that of a twisted-snout.

It was something never before seen on the mountain of the Empires.

It was the most powerful creature to ever walk the tundras.

Collision Course (222-229 days in)

From perspectives of Onion and Parrot.

20210415153557_1.thumb.jpg.81a8aab9f965c14a1aae7b69168883c5.jpg

Forest: "What the heck-"

Almond: "What kind of fangs are those?!"

Sakura: "I'm certainly never seen them.."

Almond: "A blessing from Thornbush!"

Blood Sky squirmed awkwardly.

Blood Sky: "Well, what do we name it?"

Emu: "Killer? World Ender?"

Hurricane: "Absolutely not."

Forest: "Maybe a name like Mother's. Thorn?"

Almond: "Too basic."

Blood Sky: "Tiger's Eye."

A brief silence.

Almond: "Perfect."

20210415153640_1.thumb.jpg.1a933e3969760c192d015807ec7f0425.jpg

Forest and Parrot went off to go hunt, but they saw something over the ridge.

Parrot felt a surge of both terror and pride. Would he have to fight these nichelings? A child, expecting mother, and someone who saved him from the mountain's wrath. He wanted to repay a non-existent debt to them.. but how?

20210415153755_1.thumb.jpg.c6a89fb07c6fc73a223da1e4f7441b4d.jpg

Onion was surprised to see the saber-fanged nicheling. He had been told they existed, but never really believed that.

Of course, that was until today.

20210415153843_1.thumb.jpg.1bb3aaf82f85ba4ecf2a31a8a9ecf423.jpg

Iris: "After them!"

Parrot heard the rest of the Empire race forwards past him and Forest. All were vicious and prepared for battle.

Forest: "Some nichelings go back to Almond and Tiger's Eye!"

Nobody listened. The anger in their head drowned everything Forest said out.

20210415153921_1.thumb.jpg.5ba31915c8ed260bb9f5da16c82333a8.jpg

Sakura and Onion faced off angrily. The claws of burning fires against the fur of frozen mountains; but fire always beats snow.

20210415154036_1.thumb.jpg.3bd5ce59d8e57857af72bfc0a0c0006c.jpg

Forest pulled Sakura back.

Forest: "Calm down! He can get through your fur, so back up."

Sakura: growling "Fine.."

Forest shot Moose an unreadable look.

20210415154134_1.thumb.jpg.3a8a6c423ddc94e601ca323589e503a3.jpg

The snows finally began to melt, after years of white. Parrot was surprised to see the blue-gray of the mountain; he thought the snow was always here, and there was no such thing as spring. There is no more Spring.. left by the seas to freeze.

Blood Sky: "There's a balance bear attacking Almond and Tiger's Eye!"

Forest: "Told you all! Come on!"

Iris: "But we can defeat Moose!"

Forest: "We need to help Almond first, we know where they are."

Iris growled, but didn't hesitate in going to help Almond.

Moose shot Forest a thankful glance, before running off.

20210415154706_1.thumb.jpg.6a2c5d131b57f4a28d8e05c1910f4caf.jpg

The Frozen Empire seemed to have all the cracks in the ice solidify for one moment. All the terrors of the mountain fell like snows and they united against the mutual threat for one day.

No matter how many traitors, wars, and enemies we face, we will always be the Frozen Empire.

20210415154546_1.thumb.jpg.587ccae74d72b25dfe79c962e426b49e.jpg

As Fire Opal created her nest and Lichen grew up, Onion prepared to go fight the Frozen Empire. He needed to finish what his Mother started; to burn out all the snows and melt the ice, he would have to be fierce as fire.

No matter what happens tomorrow, I will always be the Burning Empire, stronger than the burning of betrayal.

20210415154847_1.thumb.jpg.cff5a9c81ba3618a0c4724a3e7ba2686.jpg

As Fire Opal and Moose's next child was born, Onion went off to find and kill the Frozen Empire.

"Wait!"

20210415154929_1.thumb.jpg.dcbcc7ed6b98b2128670d929a4048f33.jpg

Fire Opal and Moose went after Onion.

Moose: "Lichen, stay with your brother."

Onion: "What are you guys doing-"

Fire Opal: "We have.. unfinished business as well."

Moose: "We're coming with you."

Onion: "Thanks.."

20210415154951_1.thumb.jpg.44b82f8a879f44afc3eb3ae638e09f8e.jpg

After a long battle, the Frozen Empire defeated the balance bear.

The snows descended on the mountain.

A shriek of terror from Salvador was heard, and the Frozen Empire turned to see what was happening.

20210415155046_1.thumb.jpg.f273de9cedddfaf30da605627d3552a2.jpg

Parrot saw Moose, Fire Opal and Onion on the horizon. The bones are that of a rogue that bred with Hurricane dw

The Empires were on a collision course, and one was going to rise.. and one would fall.

(And here I was thinking there could be two separate empires for long. Three nichelings can never defeat 10, the Burning Empire is walking straight to their deaths. Valiant, (even though they're the bad guys), but stupid. Maybe their goal is to kill Blood and retreat though, in which case they may have a better shot)

Currently, on the fence on how the plot will play out from here, but here's my main reasons for having the Burnings attack now;

Sakura has like 2 days left on her lifespan

Parrot and Forest, two very strong nichelings, owe them

Almond and Blood Sky will likely be protecting Tiger's Eye (who also has lean body, so she can't really move freely across the mountain and no defense)

They all have 4 strength and battle training, whereas the Frozens have minimal battle training and most have 2 strength. Because of defense, they'll do 1 damage to the Burnings, if not 0.

Hurricane and Almond are expecting children, so they'll be relatively unable to fight

The Frozens outnumber them, but the Burnings definitely outfight them. So we'll see how this goes.

A Venomous Sacrifice

From perspective of Parrot

20210417203947_1.thumb.jpg.b3c7c04fb77d78b77023c57289f71ed3.jpg

Once most of the Frozens saw the approaching Burnings over the ridge, they sprung into action and raced over. Tiger's Eye was extremely vulnerable, having no natural body armor. She would need to stay beside others or stay in a hotspring if she wanted to survive.

20210417204108_1.thumb.jpg.9136783117491b252f6bfba306ceec2e.jpg

Forest: "Tiger, go back to your Mother. And be careful!"

Tiger's Eye nodded and leaped past Parrot without hesitation.

20210417204312_1.thumb.jpg.6e4ae54b48d80732a2a6bb00d53c5517.jpg

The Burnings approached Almond, Blood Sky, their newest child, and Tiger's Eye. Almond was mourning Sakura, whereas Blood Sky watched Fire Opal with terrified eyes. She looked.. smug? Excited? Definitely angry.

20210417204529_1.thumb.jpg.47aa8c998ba27e815b73de083bae1ddd.jpg

The trio got surrounded, but Fire Opal had a plan. Onion himself didn't, but he still acted as if he did.

20210417204831_1.thumb.jpg.2ac7a440e4d0494733713df9313e495e.jpg

She approached Blood Sky, who lowered his head to hold his horns towards her, slightly rearing. Fire Opal countered his stance by fully rearing.

Suddenly, the two collided. Blood Sky charged her hind leg and attempted to lift her over his head. She clawed down and tore into his shoulder, flipping herself down and pinning his head under her hind leg, holding his horn in her claws.

"You should've stayed in your place, traitor."

With a clean snap, Blood Sky fell to the ground, dead. I underestimated the enemy damage booster.. whoops

20210417205246_1.thumb.jpg.bfd8600d2fc731a375f3b1c07017d399.jpg

Salvador was doing everything he could to hold back Almond for her child's sake. Fire Opal flexed her claw with a sly grin.

"stayed in your place traitor".. what does it mean? Thought Parrot.

20210417205321_1.thumb.jpg.7b309be133d0cf9ab15cffeb1db9f2cd.jpg

"Hold on." Forest interjected suddenly. "Don't hurt Almond."

"And how will you stop us?" Moose growled.

"What do you even want?"

Fire Opal paused and then said, "If you give us those ones."

She pointed her claw towards Tiger's Eye and Horizon (savanna horn child).

"But-"

"It's fine." Tiger's Eye calmly passed by Almond and stepped to the front of the crowd. "I'll be fine, if it's for peace."

"I'm coming with you too." Salvador added. "To.. keep them safe."

"Fair enough." Moose growled.

20210417210315_1.thumb.jpg.624a6d77fb0ea144540e4c774e13fbaf.jpg

Moose and Fire Opal bred again as the rest of the tribe backed up.

What would happen next, with the Frozens at their weakest?

More sneak peaks wahahaha

Two new arrivals in the Empires of Fire and Ice might jeopardize the safety of the entire mountain. After all, what secrets lie at Blood Sky's Roots? Who can discover them now?

..And which ones will be brought to the grave?

A Stray Fire

Perspectives of Tiger's Eye and Parrot

20210421141311_1.thumb.jpg.599f19e96a98b0c929b59493185ade32.jpg

Onion went over to a female in the snows. She had a strange squished snout and a feathery tail.

Onion: "Who are you?"

?: "Fi- Ruby."

Onion raised an eyebrow. Ruby didn't comment and went over to Fire Opal.

20210421141850_1.thumb.jpg.38f98d5ddb60eafb9fb19a38b104503c.jpg

Fire Opal looked at Ruby smugly and triumphantly. Ruby looked proud.

Ruby: "We'll speak later."

20210421142350_1.thumb.jpg.37a5739ba071f5071969c71cea4d4aa4.jpg

Almond watched the Burnings leave, and once out of view, she squealed in excitement. Why?

20210421142708_1.jpg

She stepped away from a small figure in the snows.

A hauntingly cold looking child was there.

Almond: "Why do we need Tiger's poison when we can use this one's?"

Iris: "True. What's her name?"

Almond grinned as widely as the child, who already emitted power and ambition from where she sat.

Almond: "Evergreen."

20210421142456_1.thumb.jpg.9cd3f733e352638864678dc44b62f8df.jpg

The group reached Lichen and Dodo. By now, Tiger's Eye was now an adult and Horizon was a teen. Salvador looked spooked, but said nothing.

Tiger's Eye saw Fire Opal and Ruby slipping away. She courageously sat down and pretended to sleep.

20210421142835_1.thumb.jpg.7a98860d4fd05328617ff016b04f1056.jpg

Ruby: "Is the deed done?"

Fire Opal nodded: "Yes. He's dead. How were things back home?"

Ruby growled to herself: "Getting worse. Several casualties. The Bloods are getting stronger."

Fire Opal snorted: "Once you show Moose your abilities, he'll let you have everything."

Ruby: "Good. Since Blood Sky is gone, we can do as we please."

Her smirk was the most terrifying thing Tiger's Eye had ever seen.

Ruby: "After all, an immortal ruler wouldn't be so bad."

The Melting Screens

From perspectives of Parrot and Tiger's Eye

20210423150726_1.thumb.jpg.c288e7310b026bb4dc76f20ac6ea5b84.jpg

A rogue immediately bred with Iris. at this point I the spirits of the mountain were sick of rogues, so it just died.

20210423150738_1.thumb.jpg.1a531ebac4c2cfacbdbf8ee663a5f2a4.jpg

The tribe was concerned, but gave the rogue no further thought. Other than searing anger from Iris.

20210423151436_1.thumb.jpg.7a4d2fbe17bd2164912867c265269b4e.jpg

The tribe split a little, with Hurricane staying by Evergreen and Laika, and with everyone else scouting ahead. The snows melting made everything much easier.

20210423150954_1.thumb.jpg.0c786f2ae521951148e5460eafca0410.jpg

Meanwhile, the Burnings were migrating to new lands to grow their forces. Tiger's Eye considered running, but she would freeze wherever she went. And plus, she didn't want to leave Horizon in the grasp of the Burnings. Salvador could run away with ease, like her.

But she knew for a fact the Burnings wanted her unique poison for battles. And, to Tiger's Eye, battle was unnecessary. Who would want to kill others? Even in a life-or-death situation, intimidation would be more effective, and also have less consequence.

Of course, she could never tell anyone here. They would simply leave her to freeze! And she needed to be alive to be help to Horizon and Salvador! And plus, what would killing a few nichelings do to anyone? She tried to justify murder, but she couldn't figure out anything good about it.

She also thought about Blood Sky. What did Fire Opal and Ruby mean about 'the Bloods are getting stronger'? and what did 'you should've stayed in your place' mean? Most importantly, immortal rulers? That was a recipe for disaster. What was Ruby's 'ability?'

Perhaps Ruby's ability was immortality. That would be disastrous! The Frozens would be destroyed!

Hopefully not immortality. That would be terrible. It can't be anyways! Who would figure out the ability to live forever?

But, deep down, she knew what it really meant.

The Burnings are planning to destroy the Frozens. She thought. And they'll use me and Ruby to do so.

20210423151247_1.thumb.jpg.c0ecdf41b2480ebfbce5c5bb796dd370.jpg

Fire Opal and Moose then had something of big surprise; a gray little child that pulsed with power, named Arctic.

She then went and spoke to Ruby and Moose;

Fire Opal: "Moose. We have something to show you."

Moose raised an eyebrow; "What?"

Ruby looked across the Burnings with a chilling expression: "Privately."

Meanwhile, Parrot went back to check on Laika and Evergreen.

Evergreen stared at the bones with a.. satisfied? Empowered? Maniacal? Expression. Parrot turned away in fear and shock. What was Evergreen thinking? And more importantly, why?

20210423151535_1.thumb.jpg.aca4aa913ea2eebecf561391cb4fade2.jpg

There was something wrong about Evergreen. Parrot didn't think the little child was particularly a monster; well, if she bit Laika right now, that would do permanent damage.

Parrot realized with a terrified guilt that.. Evergreen knew how valuable she was. Almond, of whom was now getting more insane morally, would do anything to keep the little snake-fanged child. And Evergreen knew.

No matter what she does, she'll always be Almond's little champion. Almond doesn't even think of Tiger's Eye anymore.. she's given up on her. Almond and Evergreen might be powerful.. but neither could ever replace Tiger's kindness and caring.

Forest also found a loner to join them; a nicheling that looked like Snowchaser with more murderous intentions. He identified himself as Slasher with immense pride and a strangely dark expression. Something about him was fear, and something about him was death.

But one thing was clear; Ruby, Evergreen and Slasher were all going to change the history of the mountain forever.

The Melting Screens

From perspectives of Parrot and Tiger's Eye

A rogue immediately bred with Iris. at this point I the spirits of the mountain were sick of rogues, so it just died.

20210423150738_1.thumb.jpg.1a531ebac4c2cfacbdbf8ee663a5f2a4.jpg

The tribe was concerned, but gave the rogue no further thought. Other than searing anger from Iris.

The tribe split a little, with Hurricane staying by Evergreen and Laika, and with everyone else scouting ahead. The snows melting made everything much easier.

Fire Opal and Moose then had something of big surprise; a gray little child that pulsed with power, named Arctic.

Smoking Secrets

From perspectives of Parrot and Tiger's Eye

Also note for future reference; Emu's character arc is what I originally wanted for Forest, but then Pine and Parrot happened. So prepare.

20210430092753_1.thumb.jpg.88773492b78c329d4055b5f6c000b5e2.jpg

Evergreen grew into a teen. Now, she was actually quite dangerous.

20210430092834_1.thumb.jpg.f1b8d168c1a35dfdbaf1891f953de245.jpg

Upon calling, Emu summoned a pure-black (melanistic?) female with a strange thorn-like pattern on her fur. HECK YEA HEAT BODY LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOO

20210430092920_1.thumb.jpg.335282875a5f3202a28cbc3c4762e1c4.jpg

Emu: "Hello there, what's your name?"

?: "Firecracker. Nice to meet you."

Emu: "Would you like to join our Empire? I don't think anyone could survive without others.."

Firecracker: "I could. But I'll join anyways. Bunnies aren't very talkative, are they?"

Emu raised an eyebrow, but didn't comment on her claims: "Welcome."

20210430093036_1.thumb.jpg.9897d12c671e0bd55c9ad08f380c11ef.jpg

Meanwhile, Moose, Fire Opal and Ruby walked off to discuss something. But Tiger's Eye couldn't let anyone keep any secrets!

Grabbing Horizon and Salvador, she dragged them behind a rock.

20210430093153_1.thumb.jpg.44d2acc8ee3f27494e4d0cfa61d90d2b.jpg

Ruby: "We have something to show you."

Moose tapped his claw: "What is it?"

Ruby and Fire Opal exchanged a smug glance.

Ruby: "I could grant you the powers to live forever."

Moose: "Nononono. That's impossible. Nobody can live forever. If Quartz couldn't, nobody could."

Fire Opal: "But we can now. Ruby, show him."

Ruby looked between the pair: "I'll do this; if I make you immortal, you give me your undying loyalty and endless protection."

Moose, in a rather skeptical and amused tone: "Okay, do it."

Ruby then purred. A new youth and strength rippled between the three. Moose was shocked, Fire Opal was grinning.

Moose, after a shocked silence: "What have you done?"

Ruby smiled: "Every time I purr, you age back 20 days. So will I, so you need to protect me if I become a child again."

Moose: "Of- of course! Anything for this.. power."

Tiger's heart seemed to stop beating for a long minute. With this power, the Frozens will be doomed..

Unless they've doomed themselves.

20210430093552_1.thumb.jpg.5bc6973128778f9c366b851b39a847d8.jpg

The Frozens, meanwhile, were travelling down the mountain. Emu and Firecracker had become mates from what Parrot had heard, as he had been getting the younger nichelings to catch up with the older ones.

But a cold look of ambition was seeping through Emu's calm and collected exterior.

20210430093926_1.thumb.jpg.375cf61ef733cad1f4c3cf5ad59bc4f6.jpg

Emu: "Sisters. Me and Firecracker have a request."

Almond, with a surprisingly cold and jealous tone: "What? Do you want me to clear the snow for you because you can't?"

Forest stamped on Almond's tail, who screeched: "shut."

She then turned to Emu with a kinder gaze: "What do you need?"

Emu raised his chin: "I would like to become the next leader of the tribe, me and Firecracker."

Almond tensed: "Why? I'm the current leader as the main family."

Emu looked at her: "Exactly why. Blood Sky.. he's gone now." Emu couldn't hide the grief in his eyes, but he quickly quelled it.

Almond flexed her claw. It was unlike her to be this aggressive.. maybe she was changing for the worse: "No! I am the rightful leader of this tribe, neither of you fang-faced entitled worms!"

The tribe silenced. We're breaking from the inside.. Almond has failed us.

She's led by her envy to one-up and prove herself worthy of her Mother's love.. Which has ruined her from the beginning.

Almond isn't a good leader, not because she doesn't have Blood Sky.. but because she doesn't have any compassion. And that's rooted deeper in her than her hatred for her siblings.

She's our leader. We see her as good.. but maybe we're looking through rose-tinted glasses at those we trust the most.

20210430094052_1.thumb.jpg.de8ffccff59820b9de0a50508afc2784.jpg

Emu growled after a while: "Fine. Looks like we should let the tribe decide instead." He looked at his fellow tribemates.

Almond glared: "They'll obviously pick me, but fine. Any other challengers can step up and we can vote from there."

Evergreen, understandably, stepped up. Almond muttered something under her breath about her disloyal champion, but nothing else.

"I'd like to challenge for leadership."

The tribe turned. A challenger who wasn't expected to step up? But the shock on Parrot's face quickly turned to fear.

20210430094106_1.thumb.jpg.577667cad88842382a18d076df0bdc73.jpg

Slasher's claws flexed.

"Who do I need to crush to become leader?"

Maybe the Frozens aren't doomed because of Ruby.. maybe they're doomed because of themselves.

Shifting Powers

Hurricane development! Mud and Iris development! Horizon development! Fire Opal and Ruby lore? Everyone gets something today!

From Parrot and Tiger's Eye perspectives.

20210505212935_1.thumb.jpg.26e43867a97ea4f3a4bfe5eecde417fb.jpg

Fire Opal: "Horizon! Come here!"

At first, Tiger's Eye thought Fire Opal saw them watching, and was absolutely mortified. But then, she could see no anger was in Fire Opal's eyes-

20210505212852_1.thumb.jpg.6e4626345d16ea5aa61bfc171b3e20d3.jpg

-Until Fire Opal grabbed Horizon by the horn. Tiger's Eye remembered what happened to Blood Sky, and she forced her paws to lie flat and bit her tongue. Fire Opal forcefully held Horizon's head up, almost as if she was inspecting her. Ruby as well. Their expressions flickered from smugness to pride to warmth. What are they doing?

And then, Fire Opal said something that make Tiger's Eye fear fade into pure confusion.

20210505212958_1.thumb.jpg.d775133c99f439ff5614a937ea15369e.jpg

"This child is absolutely sacred.. she was destined to become a leader the second she was born."

20210505213047_1.thumb.jpg.182673a89daa1364fbdf82dbbe58df55.jpg

Meanwhile, Parrot and the Frozens were preparing to pick their next leader. Parrot also noticed how Iris looked absolutely irritated.

Parrot: "Iris.. is anything wrong?"

Iris: "It's time to have my child.. but I don't think it's safe enough to."

Mud looked at Iris sadly. Iris? Of all creatures? Scared?

Parrot already had a bad idea on how the election would go, but Iris, one of the most fearless nichelings of the mountain, being scared about what's to come? This was really off to a bad start.

It also made Parrot think about Hurricane. She had her child, Laika, as soon as possible, in the midst of the threat of the Burnings, and never bothered to think twice about Laika. Strange one.

20210505213153_1.thumb.jpg.d12cbe43c48a6fefb484a68f89826cd0.jpg

Forest: "Alright. These are the possible nichelings we can pick to become our next leader. Stand by the leader you think will be best."

20210505213545_1.thumb.jpg.9b930df88cf14463a39fc76b246d7512.jpg

The groups separated. It was time to pick.

20210505213608_1.thumb.jpg.616ca7cc9e03d1dc33fb3f1a5a20e397.jpg

Iris was first. She stood by Slasher.

Iris: "I think new bloods in the tribe will be better. If we don't stay open to outsiders, we could miss out on several.. cultures."

She touched her belly at this. She'll teach her child to never act like a rogue and to never respect rogues.

20210505213651_1.thumb.jpg.a46bf005d429fa06642e491c619e1a6a.jpg

Laika stood by Evergreen. Evergreen gave Laika a thankful grin.

20210505213714_1.thumb.jpg.a88f42758fefeb0d2a12dfb3183e7892.jpg

Mud went to Firecracker and Emu.

Mud: "A pair of leaders will stop a single nicheling from having full control of the tribe. If someone had full control, it would be unhealthy."

20210505213731_1.thumb.jpg.057fcc735de90815663d4a1d1b79c0ad.jpg

Forest went to Slasher.

Forest: "I agree with Iris. We need to see how outsiders are to get unique nichelings."

She said this with a glance at Parrot, who swelled with pride.

Parrot noticed nobody had voted for Almond, which was fair enough. Hurricane was staring at Parrot expectantly, but also somewhat hauntingly. Maybe she wants to be the last vote.

Parrot was absolutely torn. All contestants were pretty suspicious and bad.

Parrot then realized a terrible thought; if Emu and Firecracker lost, they can leave the tribe and survive, plus make a third Empire. Evergreen and Slasher couldn't do that if they lost.

To protect the tribe, Parrot realized he had to pick the most murderous option. Messed up thought process.. ah well

20210505214002_1.thumb.jpg.7f86aca4912ba8040cdc23142a59fca1.jpg

He went over to Emu and Firecracker. Hurricane immediately followed him. Hurricane sus

Emu and Firecracker had won the election.. but what if this victory led to the loss of the tribe?

20210505213438_1.thumb.jpg.42ea98028c6259b383f2716ccef0983c.jpg

Meanwhile, the Burnings were also having their own powers shift. (Some screenshots were taken post-snow falling)

Moose: "How is she sacred?"

Ruby pointed to her horns: "She has the mark of a Blood family leader. Something Blood Sky never deserved."

What is she talking about?

Moose: "Alright, unrelated, but why do you guys hate Blood Sky for his horns?"

Fire Opal and Ruby exchanged a glance.

Fire Opal: "Alright fine. Let me explain;

"On our old island, there was a war between two families, the Bloods and the Roots. We were on the side of the Bloods; same family, the Fires. (Ruby: My actual name is Fire Ruby.) Blood Sky was named Blood Ruby, thanks to his rank. But the twisted savanna horns meant he was a possible heir.

He was going to rule over the Bloods, until he was sent into his first battle. In the midst of the fight, he deserted and left his home. He jumped into the seas with a handful of underwater breathing fruits to heal with during the battle, and swam into new lands.

He was renamed into Blood Sky for a banished nicheling and hunted down by me; if he ever had children with his twisted horns, they could come back and become a possible leader. But since Horizon could never be directed back to the old island, Blood Sky being dead, she can't challenge the current leaders for leadership. And since we've stopped her from learning Blood Sky's evil ways, she could easily be a brilliant leader."

Tiger's perception of the murderous females was shattering before her eyes. Blood Sky could've been a king over a region of, presumably, hundreds of nichelings, but he chose to leave for a new life instead?

Opal and Ruby were doing their job.. but was it really worth all that trouble for a presumed threat?

In a way, she had to respect how far the two went to catch Blood Sky. But they certainly didn't need to do all this.

20210505213500_1.thumb.jpg.d0e90e4d781e95c88fd06ced6e012815.jpg

Ruby: "And, that is why, Horizon should become our next leader."

Moose awkwardly remarked: "Hopefully none of Blood Sky's brains carried on into her."

Tiger's Eye was still trying to wrap her head around the whole situation.

A single nicheling left that giant battle, so they had to hunt him down for at least 60 days? That's.. extreme.

But Tiger's Eye also knew that if Horizon really did become the Queen of the Burnings, she will never learn of her true past. She would become a new nicheling. It would go to her head. After all, power changes nichelings.. and if power falls into the hands of the wrong ones.. the thin sheet of ice stopping the mountain from caving in will break once more.

Plot twists go brr

Iris was first. She stood by Slasher.

Iris: "I think new bloods in the tribe will be better. If we don't stay open to outsiders, we could miss out on several.. cultures."

She touched her belly at this. She'll teach her child to never act like a rogue and to never respect rogues.

Laika stood by Evergreen. Evergreen gave Laika a thankful grin.

Mud went to Firecracker and Emu.

Mud: "A pair of leaders will stop a single nicheling from having full control of the tribe. If someone had full control, it would be unhealthy."

Messed up thought process.. ah well

He went over to Emu and Firecracker. Hurricane immediately followed him. Hurricane sus

Emu and Firecracker had won the election.. but what if this victory led to the loss of the tribe?

Meanwhile, the Burnings were also having their own powers shift. (Some screenshots were taken post-snow falling)

Moose: "How is she sacred?"

Ruby pointed to her horns: "She has the mark of a Blood family leader. Something Blood Sky never deserved."

What is she talking about?

Moose: "Alright, unrelated, but why do you guys hate Blood Sky for his horns?"

Fire Opal and Ruby exchanged a glance.

Fire Opal: "Alright fine. Let me explain;

(Man, are they telling the truth? Who's the real threat? The lines are being blurred)
