Speedyscout
So I did this before but got bored. Well, now I've started over, yaay. Let's go. So, here are my founding 4. All of them where totally custom-created by me. Part One: The Whale Island They started out alone on Whale Island, and immediately began exploring and gathering food. It was soon wound that Tapir was the fastest, as the overtook the others easily. Suddenly, there were attacked by a Bearyena. They defeated it and collected the meat (well, Shark, Stag, and Viper defeated it; Tapir was fast, but could deal absolutely no damage to anything), but not before it dealt a nasty hit to Stag. After this unfortunate incident, they moved on. They were by now adults; Viper and Stag and Shark and Tapir became mates, and the females became pregnant with the first babies of the second generation. Soon, Tapir gave birth to a playful, happy little female called Dolphin. And shortly after that, Viper gave birth to a boy named Hawk, who was quite reckless and excitable. Dolphin and Hawk immediately took a liking to eachother and seemed to balance eachother out well. They continued moving. Soon they found a nut tree with two permanent nests beneath it. Two new babies were born - Snapper, a fierce male, to Tapir, and Okapi, a gentle female, to Viper. They got along well, Snapper actually calming down in Okapi's presence, and spent a lot of time together. I didn't get baby photos of them, but you can see them in the image below, at the center. One day they were exploring when a Bearyena ambushed them. They ran, escaping with no injuries, and the adults soon defeated it. A while later, more babies were born. Walrus was a lonesome and irritable brown male, who didn't get along well with the others. (He was also a mistake, I accidentally bred Tapir and Stag instead of Tapir and Shark... OOPS. But it turned out okay.) Below is him taking his first steps. Then, another male, Adder, was born to Viper and Stag. He's also below, in the nest with Viper. Soon after, another male was born to Tapir, named Crab. He was quite eccentric, and much faster then the others, so he frequently enjoyed waiting for someone to get far ahead of him and then overtaking. Here's Crab: Then, a bearyena attacked. Hawk ran to help Shark and Viper with fighting it, and to defend Dolphin, who had been nearby. They defeated it, but Hawk got wounded in the fight. Dolphin fussed over him and they soon decided to be mates; this excited their parents, who were pleased that the third generation would soon come. Two more children were born: Falcon, a playful male, to Tapir, and Squirrel, a mischievous female. Everyone was relieved another female had finally been born, and the two quickly took a liking to one another. The next day, and to everyone's excitement, Okapi gave birth to the first member of the third generation - an amazingly colored male named Bullfrog, whose father was Snapper. A short while after, Dolphin also gave birth to her and Hawk's first child, Stonefish, who also had unique coloring. Everyone was a little worried about them both being males, however. Around this time, the tribe began moving further up the whale. They had decided it was time to head for the ports and leave the whale island. They moved slowly, however, due to the many young ones that were in the tribe. A few days after Stonefish's birth, they were at the whale's head. They found a permanent nest there, where many females had their children. Tapir gave birth to Angler - the last child she and Shark would ever have. Then, Viper gave birth to her and Stag's last child, Jay - who was finally a female! Next, Dolphin ALSO gave birth - to little Tiger, an amazingly colored, fierce little male. At some point Okapi also gave birth to her and Snapper's next child, a male named Whale. I don't have his photo, but you can see him just to Angler's left in the first photo. (Jay doesn't have a baby photo, but you can see her peering out from behind Dolphin in Tiger's photo.) Very sadly, it was the Founders' time to pass away. The four old friends gathered a little way from the rest of the tribe, while all the others mourned. They knew they would never see their parents (in most cases, or grandparents in a few) again. But they couldn't mourn for long. They had more imminent problems, like a shortage of food - proving it was all the more important to get to the next island as soon as they could. First, though, Squirrel gave birth to the first child of her and Falcon - another little girl, thankfully, whose name was Wren. And now, at last, and after 43 days on the whale island - it was time to leave. Those who had been chosen gathered on the ports, sadly leaving behind those who were not to come. The ones left behind were Crab (sadly, he was one of my favorites, but getting a bit old), Snapper, Dolphin, Gull (yeah, he existed! I forgot to mention him, I think), Okapi, Walrus, Adder, and Hawk. The ones who were chosen to come were, left-right: (back row) Whale, Angler, Jackal (he existed, think I forgot to mention), Bullfrog (middle row) Falcon, Squirrel, Stonefish (and front row) Jay, Tiger, and Wren. And so they left the whale island that every nicheling there had lived on for their entire lives. And arrived at their new home...The Burning Savannah.
Speedyscout
Part Two: The Burning Savannah The Nichelings set out to explore their new home. Some of them get overly hot from the sun and have less energy, so they find shade under the few trees scattered through the landscape. Suddenly they are threatened by a Bearyena. However, it is soon defeated. Then Squirrel gives birth to Mouse - the first Nicheling to be born on this hostile new island. Tiger seems to take a liking to her. And then... An ominous crackling in the dry grasses... A fire has started nearby. The Nichelings panic, and begin moving quickly away from it. But soon they are blessed by rain - replenishing their food, and extinguishing the blaze. Soon, Ibis and Elk are born - both girls. (The curse of all boys seems to have been reversed.) Elk, named after the founder Stag, is a very special little nicheling - the first Nicheling of the fourth generation, daughter of Wren and Bullfrog. Ibis was born to Jay and Angler. A new child is born - a pretty girl by the name of Mongoose, whose parents are Falcon and Squirrel. No baby pictures, but she's the small gray-and-tan one with big ears next to the nest in the photo below. There are problems. The tribe is short on food. Desperate, Jackal gathers berries from the cacti, even though the others try to stop him. They have lost the insect-eating abilities that Tapir had, and have no spiny body to safely gather from the cacti - so the stunted berry bushes, roots, or deliberately harming themselves to get cacti-berries are the only options. It's like this for several days, and many of the older Nichelings finally resort to the desperate measure of the cacti, along with starving. The tribe is struggling. And then - to make matters worse - a flame. And no rain is in sight. The tribe has to make a terrible decision... to leave the older nichelings behind. Jackal is already going to die from his insistence of picking the berries. Stonefish and Bullfrog are both quite old, so they are chosen. And to everyone's utter sadness, Squirrel and Falcon are also chosen to stay behind. They have been parents to many nichelings, and were some of the oldest members of the tribe. Poor little Mongoose will never even really get to know them. Those who stay behind gather food from the cacti - a last sacrifice for the rest of the tribe. The rest of the tribe must continue on, doing the best they can to continue surviving in the harsh lands of the Burning Savannah. And behind them the flames continue to spread.
Speedyscout
Part 2B: Those Left Behind A new birth, even as those they had left behind passed. His name was Flamingo - a funny little Nicheling, but nice enough. And the next day. Rain. The nichelings felt nothing but shame, guilt. If they hadn't been so afraid of the fire... If they hadn't fled and chosen to leave the others behind - the older nichelings might still be here. Two new births, though, distracted them. Mouse gave birth to Salamander - a smug, sarcastic female. Wren gave birth to Frog, a quirky female... The child of Bullfrog, who was now gone. Food was still a big concern. A few days later, Whale, one of the oldest nichelings, resorted to harvesting from a cactus, like Jackal had done. It gave them enough food to barely last a single day. Jay, who was also old by now, did the same the next day, though she didn't like it. Ibis gave birth to Echidna, an odd and erratic girl. Her father was Mole. (Did I mention him?? I can't remember.) Twins were born - quite possibly the first ever seen by the tribe - to Mouse. Both were male, and they were named Lynx (left) and Leopard (right). You can see them in the top of the below picture. And on the very same day, a fire started, right at the edge of camp. This was the tipping point for a lot of the Nichelings. They wanted to get off this horrible island and now was the time to do so. All of the tribe fled to the nearest port - inviting, green flowers and grasses, like nothing they'd ever seen before. The fire grew, raging in the grasses, as the tribe members leading found themselves overlooking the port. It was also time for Jay and Angler to pass. Like many of the old nichelings on this island had been forced to do by lack of food, they gathered from the cacti before their passed. They reached the port. Tiger passed away from old age. It was decided who would continue and who wouldn't. The ones left behind would be Ibis, Mole, Mouse, Salamander (she was young, and I liked her, but they had to leave at least 5 behind sadly), and Elk. And those who continued, from left-right and top-bottom: Frog, Echidna, Lynx, Flamingo, Leopard, and Mongoose. Despite the hardships, the fire, the lack of food - none of them had ever known anything other than the Burning Savannah. There was a moment of doubt... And then Mongoose leapt onto the first stone. The others followed. To their new home, whatever kind of island it may be.

Speedyscout
Part 3: Green Paradise Upon arriving on their new, small island, the Nichelings immediately began gathering food, not wanting another disaster like the Burning Savannah had been. Mongoose and Flamingo, the two eldest and being unrelated, decided to breed. Lynx, Leopard, and Echidna soon grew into adults; Echidna enjoyed gathering nuts from under a nearby nut tree, while the other two spent a lot of time digging for food, and Flamingo and Frog spent most of their time gathering berries. Soon the others formed pairs and mated as well - Leopard with Echidna, Lynx with Frog. Mongoose's child, the first on the new island, was born - a playful female called Dhole. (Link to wikipedia article about dholes, if you didn't know what they are.) Shortly after this, Echidna and Frog also gave birth to their children. Frog gave birth to Wilddog, a rational and friendly male, and Echidna to Chipmunk, an excitable and mischievous female. The two immediately took interest in each other and played together. Life continued on the little island. Food was plentiful, and the creatures rejoiced. Some of them even tried catching rabbils, and both Dhole and Chipmunk took an interest in the fish, though neither had any luck with catching them. Soon, more children were born. Mongoose gave birth to Numbat, a skittish large-eared female, and Frog to Wolf, a sulky and fierce female. Wolf was a loner, and a bit of an outcast, but Numbat was quite friendly. A Peaceful Bear also pitched up around this time, and got in the way of everyone. (Those guys are creepy.) Two days later, it was Echidna's turn to give birth. She had Bat, an interestingly-colored, somewhat eccentric little female named Bat. Concerned that there were very few males being born, Mongoose and Frog bred again. (Echidna was still looking after Bat, so didn't breed again yet.) Wolf also managed to kill a stagmole. She was extremely proud of herself. Two days later, Frog and Mongoose gave birth (AGAIN). Frog had Tern, a quiet male, and Mongoose had Anteater - a friendly male who had the Sticky Tongue gene, which the tribe had thought they'd lost! Chipmunk and Wilddog decided to be mates around this time, and Chipmunk became pregnant with a child who would be the sixth generation! Then, Leopard stumbled into a Bearyena in the grasses. Leopard with the help of Lynx and Flamingo managed to kill it, and they gathered its meat. The same day as they defeated it, Echidna gave birth to Kudu, a proud male - you can see him in the second picture. The next day, it rained, replenishing the tribe's berry bushes. On the same day, Chipmunk's sixth-generation child was born! A slightly smug but nice enough male called Snake. Mongoose then gave birth to Weasel, a sarcastic and excitable female, and Frog had Narwhal, a fiesty male with interesting coloring. I didn't get proper baby photos, but you can see them side-by-side in the top of this photo; Narwhal is the black-and-white one, and Weasel is the cracker-jaw to his left. And then -Day 100. I can't believe I reached that lol. Been about 4 hours 30 mins on this save so far, spread over 3 days, so that's crazy. Anyway, two new Nichelings were born on this day; Impala, a haughty female, to Chipmunk, and... Hedgehog, a playful male to Echidna... who has SPIKY BODY!! I've been wanting this gene for ages. Would've been nice to have that in THE SAVANNAH, glares at... idk, RNG. Anyway, that's all that happened for now. 100 days! Kinda awesome. The end for now! (Also, we have 20 nichelings at this point - the most I've ever had at one time in this playthough, I think - and... 171 food. Yeaahhhh... This island's pretty easy.)
Speedyscout
Oh and I wanted to mention - this is an echidna. They're spiky. Kinda funny that Echidna would give birth to Hedgehog, the spiky body.
