Part 2 begins at the end of day 27 with Oinu beggining to explore:

1781636738_uinotheexplorer.thumb.png.72879507fdad4ac6a0da0bc2c41bdb01.png

Oinu is an adventurous spirit and wanders even further from Mist and Pearl. He finds a berry bush of his own (smaller and less green than the ones he's used to) which he is excited over and starts gathering from.

1890614055_hedoesntlikethem.thumb.png.a4f749acf731c64b841bee6082511cfc.png

Meanwhile, over at Andre and Iakii's camp, Andre attacks a dodomingo who was hogging a nest. Chisel is horrified since she likes the soft warm cuddly nest-birds.

Yosuke hears a squeaking and looks over to find his berries gone. He sends Lurker to dispatch the theif. They have a yummy lunch.

1044199411_RainandLurker.thumb.png.38a466f24a8a981cf137b05fcbe3f189.png

The next day it rains, I try and gather as many berries as I can but am not very successful. Lurker prepares to have her first child since my turn to play the community playthrough.

BABIES.thumb.png.a28c06e8cf53156133c5cd1cb40950a4.png

I'm so excited to finally have babies after like five turns of playing! Memela has savannah horns and claw which I'm excited about. Also she's Andre's child and pure white. She has a pretty name. Lurker hasn't had her child yet, pretty sure the other child is Pearl's.

774254505_Chiselthedodomingofriend.thumb.png.81adcf75fcec842a82e5344ad6639dc0.png

Chisel cuddles with the dodomingo as it sits in a nest. The dodomingo enjoys her company and she enjoys it's cuddly-softness.

And this concludes part 2. Everything appears to be going well...

The fact that you bred Iakii and Andre while Chisel was still a baby feels wrong considering my playstyle with those settings lol

(I'm so used to playing storymode where it's like "I got like 25 days or so let's make babies all the time, there's no time to wait!" And also, in this I was like, "well if it takes 4 turns to have a child I better breed them as much as possible to get as much children and genes in as possible. I can't wait for the last minute for them to only have 3 turns left and not be able to give birth!" I guess my playstyle is just babies everywhere LOL. I run into some problems with food because of that and other stuff later. But like in my storymode playthrough food isn't an issue with 300 of it, and the more paws to gather the better. So I just breed like crazy. Since I'm on the archipelago I usually have my breeding pairs travel to another island of the archipelago and then they're mid-ages and I breed like crazy. It's just what I'm used to LOL. But I see how from a story standpoint that may be weird/painful.

Part 3: The first trials

504068011_ohno.thumb.png.f6728d4d61d951258bd31d7076feb3ef.png

Andre had been gathering roots, wandering further and further away to do so, when he encountered a bearyena. I decided he would slap it once and then run in order to lead it away from his family. This screenshot is titled "oh no"

581822504_doubleohno.thumb.png.9fd670e2dd417f76482f87010cba1748.png

Even before Andre hits the bearyena, I notice something else out of the corner of my eye. The first bluebird of my turn, maybe even of the whole community playthrough. There had been no bluebird up to this point, I still kept babies close for the main part, but now things were going to get even harder to manage. It's titled "double oh no"

1462588559_heylookyherefatbeast.thumb.png.c2344adb5e62e4b9d9eda83946b34110.png

Andre carries out his plan, hitting the bearyena once and then running away, further from his family in order to keep them safe.

1871502210_tripleohno.thumb.png.a9c912ce295984201f2a25c866497ee9.png

I run right into a jungle, and a man-eating (or nicheling eating) plant. Thankfully, it's in its green/harmless stage. It still freaked me out though, and I felt as if the game was hemming me (or at least Andre) in. This screenshot is titled, guess what? "triple oh no"

435923412_protectthebabies.thumb.png.25854a7f1fa1698472bb191a6db9ef66.png

Iakii hears the bearyena, sees and hears the bird, and senses the danger. She draws her children close and tells them to stay near and behind her. She doesn't dare take a step away from them to do anything.

733077298_iminlove__.thumb.png.ed0aa59a2a2c0892e97c1d093cae910c.png

Meanwhile, Lurker finally had her child! I want to name them Bear but they have such a pretty and unique name I decide to keep it. I figure it means "bear" in some niche language. I was so in love with this child, they looked a bit freaky but mostly beautiful and mysterious and a tad bit cute.

1330173082_curiositykilledthecat.thumb.png.b99892ba3e4beaf5621adc248e1beb99.png

This screenshot is titled "curiosity killed the cat." You can see why. He was curious and broke open that termite mound. Only to get attacked by the things and unable to get them off him.

426152547_theymaketheirwaytothesoundbuttheyarenttheonlyones.thumb.png.9459a95d160aec59a992f7a5f967a756.png

Pearl hears his cry of pain, and makes her way to him. She has a soft spot for the explorer that helped her to find a nest, he's like a second son to her. Mist hears a bearyena in the distance and warns her to stay back with him and the kids, but she doesn't listen. She must go help Oinu. The bearyena has no doubt heard his cries of pain as well...

1016494682_hegothit.thumb.png.692e17996f399cf55cff730961d212d1.png

Meanwhile, the bearyena does follow Andre, and has enough moves to hit him too. It does an insane amount of damage compared to what he does to it. Andre has a moment of decicion, keep running, or fight?

949327386_Andreslaststand.thumb.png.9d07b5e885a4dda269ab1cc16fac9fc3.png

Andre decides to fight, and nearly kills the bearyena, but he just barely doesn't. With the amount of damage Andre took last turn, he will die next turn if the bearyena hits him back. This is titled "Andre's last stand"

This concludes part 3, I shall post part 4 shortly.

Part 4 (why not I'm on a roll!) Things are gonna get easier, I hope

1062054070_heisntcomingback.thumb.png.6244f97bc865fd4e6dc76a969d612c16.png

Iakii knows something's terribly wrong. She hears her mate cry out for pain in the grasses. The nest is deteriorating, and about to break on its own. Not knowing when or if he'll return, Iakii decides to break it up to salvage what nesting material she can. If he never comes back, she doesn't want to look at that nest again.  Quinn nervously picks berries, the younger children huddle close to their mother. Chisel finds a dodomingo to cuddle with to take away her fear.

1290747952_shehelpshimbutatwhatcost.thumb.png.0fc821d9b07f7d4f89a7ebe8cf511b4f.png

Pearl makes her way up to Oinu and licks the termites off them. But in the process she leaves her blind mate and daughter behind, vulnerable to the bearyena. This screenshot is titled "she helps him, but at what cost?"

sucess.thumb.png.05978d37dc287ed7e82b11abba87454d.png

Lurker successfully hunts a stagmole in their uneventful corner of the world.

I skip to the next day, preparing for the worst...

898364724_waitwhat.thumb.png.e8f41f78759b43e633d0a9a5979ee28b.png

This screenshot is titled "wait, what?" So basically, the bearyena doesn't attack Andre. If it had he would be dead. It runs into the grasses and disapears. I'm wondering what in the world happened, and I still really don't know for sure. But Andre is spared. He's alive!

1343868812_ahappyreunion.thumb.png.87bad17c455a9165b8c042e8112c9a86.png

I bring Andre back to his family, and find a lump of meat in the grass that I asume is the bearyena, though it may be a dodomingo too. I'm elated. I'm even happy to see the rouge. He seems kinda like apart of the tribe even though he isn't cause he sticks around so much. Seeing him, I remember to breed Iakii and Andre so I don't have any rogue babies. I already have checked his genes, he doesn't appear to have anything the tribe needs and even so I wouldn't let him have Andre's mate. I love Andre too much. They pick up the meat and have a celebration1552016497_ohdear.thumb.png.93121bcb0a8d52a01eb732ec846a9da8.png

I'm almost too happy to notice another bearyena over here. But I do, that spoils the mood. At least it's not attacking the blind creatures.

1236359677_Pearlfightsback.thumb.png.f6019f8d67207709b2431b2e83fc8f3e.png

It's already hit Pearl. She's got only half her life left. It's an elderly bearyena so I have her finish it off. Still, that taken time is precious and I'm quite sad to loose it. Oinu licks off Pearl like she liked off his termites, and they collect the meat and head back toward Pearl's family.

595150758_Mistislikegetoutahere.thumb.png.5cb53a6898716cd96187e6dbb83571da.png

Pearl come back first since she's pregnant and still has moves. Mist is relieved she's alive, though saddened at how much she's been injured. He tries to clear a way for his pregnant mate by slapping away the Dodomingo, but his nimble fingers don't do anything to te bird, except make it annoyed and look at him.

reunited.thumb.png.3cd2a351a026b040dfe4075389f874a9.png

Next turn they're all reunited. Pearl gets ready to give birth as Oinu escorts Mist down to the berry bushes so he can manage to pick them. Oinu's favorite thing (other than his mate and the water) is to pick those berries.

1160149776_thatwasclose.thumb.png.fda751de53d4415363ce90d5708f21e8.png

I put Iakii on the nest, but notice just in time that Chisel is unguarded. Iakii calls her daughter over so she can guard her from the bird.

And that's the end of Part 4!

Part 5 The Peaceful Years

762547418_darnimissedit.thumb.png.ea2e0c8ae246486db6b6d8f68e8c0a4b.png

I was gonna put Lurk on the nest, but I forgot and so she had to wait an extra turn.

1051022551_gatheringberriesisafinewaytogetfood.thumb.png.ea81eb549c061599aa30487f5165a4de.png

Uino tries to dig up a root with his one good pay, and fails. Mist tells him, "You don't have to have all sorts of new or fancy ways to feed yourself. Gathering berries is a fine way to get food." As he gathers berries. Uino starts thinking about his berry bush up north again.

2037602062_Andresfamily.thumb.png.85f72adf7b91985f9328d0926742dbfe.png

A shot of Andre's family with the blue-bird just barely seen above. They're huddling together as one tight unit, not wanting to come close to loosing another member again.

1349172559_myfirstrenamedbaby.thumb.png.c44da3eeefb2416c59c0f57f69180ad0.png

I named one of Pearl and Mist's children Bear, since I had wanted to name a nicheling that for a while and he looked like a little brown bear in many respects.

1652570153_thatwasterrifying.thumb.png.5716ea42b0e5ef06c2b8cdf0bcae050c.png

I just heard a blue-bird screech which means it grabbed something. I thought it was one of my own babies for a minute, terrifying. Some unlucky nicheling (or critter) got snagged.

1048532525_ofcourseitsinthenest.thumb.png.67dccc2eeaf6817d248b64cf5ce1c46c.png

They need to get Pearl in that nest, but of course the dodomingo is there. There's not much I can do about it.

That's the end of part 5, it's a short part but I wanted to group the parts according to periods sort of so this is the peaceful period where nothing much happens.

Part 6: The Starving Years

1778132567_gettinghelp.thumb.png.2b24558deefe26a40fe0aad7c4edd1af.png

I'm low on food now, way lower than before. I'm trying to gather enough food for the turn, and then of course a bearyena shows up, ending the relative peace of the nichelings. Pridukro was a wanderer I invited in, and he makes himself useful by gather a few berries and then when the bearyena shows up running to get members of Lurk and Yosuke's line. The screenshot is titled "getting help"

1090167356_anepicbattle.thumb.png.6ae2a343ceb06de9ae649cc65e5b0d2f.png

Lurk calls back her mate from his mole hunt and runs into the battle herself.Iakii defends her newborn with her life. It is an epic battle.

1837795151_cactusouch.thumb.png.bf0094ea1d3cf0d3a62104d1746b647a.png

Meanwhile, Mist fumbles in the grass for berries and ends up picking for a cactus, ouch! They're still trying to get Pearl in a nest. Ruby and Oinu have left to explore together. I want (and may have to have) them be a mating pair. But they have overlapping immunity genes. Still, I think Ruby is very much in love with him and if they find no wanderers they'll become mates.

2040725083_anothershotofbattle.thumb.png.49d12e8d49e45cdb95368aaa6f2d021a.png

This is another picture of the ensuing battle, showing the home front in Lurk and Yosuke's camp. Pridokru watching Retare, and Makiia watching her little brother.

1919538342_Yosukefinishesthemoff.thumb.png.00e2f7044230e5d6fd5b96e49f5c02c2.png

The bearyena decides to look for an easier target, and goes over to where Yosuke is standing (perhaps on his way to Retare). Yosuke delievers the final blow. The nichelings have a much-needed feast of bearyena meat.

1300333075_Rubythehuntress.thumb.png.7d7308df1136149c8f4ac89219501029.png

Next turn it's back to starving. Ruby the blind nicheling with the help of Oinu's sight kills a rabbil, which is some much needed food in the starving years. Proving herself a capable huntress. She's falling more in love with Oinu every day, and he thinks she's a great traveling companion and a capable friend.

1057879429_doublekill.thumb.png.e872f2d68a18ac2fde6c1a8861d1e56f.png

Yosuke kills a stag-mole as Lurk kills a bunny. They're a good hunting team. This screenshot is titlted "double kill"

577937992_HAD0FOOD.thumb.png.1670a311cba570266818af673b3a4990.png

The end of the turn. I had 0 food at the beggining of this turn. Also, the last few turns I had been marking creatures omegas who I thought could afford to take hunger damage, and alphas those who could not. It had truely been the starving years and creatures had been taking starving damage. At the end of this turn I had hope that perhaps the starving years were over.

End of Part 6, part 7 is the last part!

Part 7 Stronger than ever

1045886365_YesIloveu.thumb.png.897cd201da706c56da55d6606d30ea3f.png

After much tracking down and chasing of the bunny through the grasses together, Lurk finally managed to kill it. this was a romantic moment for Yosuke. "Yes I love you, very much," he said as they shared the rabbit and looked at the ocean together. They also gave some to Pridukro since he had helped them track it down and was heading back to camp.  Yosurke and Lurk bred for what will probably be the last time.

746741654_nerveracking.thumb.png.b0dfb926f8078a637a69f64be37a41ed.png

Pearl had been with her youngest son down at the berry bushes. Mist was with bear up in the grasses picking from the cactus to feed his son (and the tribe during the starving years). Pearl died having lived half the lifespan of nichelings in this save (the other half taken by a bearyena amoung other factors). The youngest child was left alone. The bird was coming. Mist was blind but could still see thanks to his son. He went to the exact right square so both his sons could take one step toward him and be safe. Any other square one of them would've died. Bear has his mother's sticky tounge recessive so I'm really glad he survived. I'm greatful and relieved I was able to save both sons.

1675269966_killedqanotherone.thumb.png.b53a8fd35ca73d290fb04ab0c7b98395.png

Another bearyena showed up. This time Iakii, Andre, and their daughter Memela circle the bearyena and continually attack it, killing it in one turn. They have a feast of bearyena meat once more. This screenshot is titled "killed another one"

1944647374_youmessedwiththewrongguys.thumb.png.014407bc66b54aa9d0ef0874ce7a6fa0.png

This is a screenshot of a bunny who stole my berries and is about to get killed. They stumbled right into Yosurke, Lurk, and the helpful scout Pridukro. They're gonna die now. The screenshot is titled "you messed with the wrong guys" maybe it should be titled "you messed with the wrong tribe." Cause so far, the more adversity these guys go through, the tougher they get. They're skillful hunters and bearyena slayers....let's hope it stays that way!

So yeah, I am done. Some things to note:
I started using gem colors like I do in my storymode playthrough (and pretty much all niche games), that is as family line markers. Each family line has a color, and everyone born into that family line has gems of that color. So far there's a blue line (Mist and Pearl's decendents), red line (Lurk and Yosurke and their children), and yellow line (Andre, Iakii, and their family). Blue line was marked because they had alot of water genes between them. Yellow line was marked that because both Andre and Iakii have yellow in thei coats. Red line was marked cause they're hunters/attackers=killers=blood=red. In the future if we decide to keep this gem marking system, lines will become markers of who deciended from who into the future and who is related to whom. There may become mixed lines red-yellow-red, or we may decide to keep it simple and just have creatures "marry in" to lines and call it the same line. Another thing to add about this, is I'm using green gems in the middle to mark breeding or potential breeding creatures. That's different than what I usually do, which is put green gems on non-breeding creatures/creatures who have no mate yet/those I don't want to breed. We can also use gems to mark something totally different in the future if you guys want.

@spartan horse Here's the savefile:

Slot2.nichesave

The main story points are just if you want to keep the story making sense or want to know what was going on when you open the save without going through my whole screenshots thing. The story limitations are limitations or mini challenges brought on by the story. These must be obeyed (pretty sure anyways).

Main story points:

Bear and his little brother will stick with their blind father Mist for as long as he's alive. Then they may stick together, and they might also go searching for their big sister Ruby. They have never before seen a bearyena and would run if they saw one.

Lurk and Yosurke are prolific hunters. They get most their food from hunting, and will soon teach their children. They love to hunt stag-moles and frequently visit the holes near their camp to hunt them. Their favorite in the one next to the beach behind their camp. A recently discovered one on the Wide Peninsula is the second favorite. They'll also hunt bunnies, especially those that steal their berries.

Pridukro has developed a good relationship with Lurk and Yosurke by watching their children, colecting berries for them, and helping them hunt in the short time they've known eachother. This could be a good stage on which to partner Pridukro and Makiia.

Oinu is a prolific adventurer and doesn't usually stay in one place very long, though if he finda a berry bush he likes he'll stay a few turns to gather food. He loves to have Ruby with him for company. He likes her as a friend and thinks she's quite capable especially with her disability, but whether he loves her is yet to be seen.

Memela has found that she loves to hunt after helping her parents kill a bearyena. She wants to try and snag some stag moles next.

Iakii tends to defend her children prolifically, putting her life on the line each time. Even though she's weaker than some of the other fighters, she will fight to the death to defend her babies.

Retare means bear in some niche language. She is curious about hunting and fighting and wants to be strong like her parents.

Bear (Mist and Pearl's kid) has sticky tounge! Don't let that die out!

All the nichelings know about the dangers of the bluebird and keep their children close. (Though perhaps Oinu and Ruby do not).

Mist loves the water and loves picking berries, he may instil these two loves in his sons.

Story limitations:

Yosurke will destroy any poison berry bush he comes across. He is also really aggressive/defensive and will atack any foe that threatens him or his family, no matter how big. He doesn't have much sense about it and will fight to the death.

Andre will defend his family against any threat. He may run away if in his family's best interest however, and is more strategic about how he does things. He may run if alone in order to lead them away from his family. He often calls together multiple nichelings in order to pack-attack bearyenas.

Ruby is in love with Oinu. She will not become the mate of anybody else, and will get mad at him (or just plain depressed) if he chooses another mate. Each time a new male is added to their traveling group, you may roll a die. If you get a six, she is no longer in love (as much anyways) and is free to choose another mate (it doesn't have to be the mate that caused the 6). If he chooses a mate other than her before she chooses a mate other than him it will create a schizm between them. It may heal with time. However, if she has already decided to choose another mate, she won't be able to be mad at him over it, though she'll be sad about the whole thing.

Ruby and Oinu would both run from a bearyena, though if the other is cornered or attacked they may help defend them. If the other dies, they will see no reason to keep fighting and will run away, grief stricken. If they had children nearby, Ruby would definately fight to the death to defend them. Oinu may or may not.

Makiia (daughter of Lurk and Yosurke) is madly in love with Pridukro. She will never choose another mate unless she's his mate and he dies. (They must have at least one child to have been considered 'mates').

That's it, have fun Spartan! Let us know how it goes!

That's great!

(So who wants to take their turn first? You have 2 weeks to complete it, but if you complete it early you can post the results and save-file early if you want).

@spartan horse Here's the savefile:

This is the story/story limitations so far if you don't want to read the whole playthrough thing I posted
