@Chiyanna it's your turn

There's been a few births, bearyena invasions (Ruby and Uino were killed, their son survived because one of the friendly bearyena attacked it).

Retare was being targeted by a rouge male so I put a wall of babies between them (baby walls are a safe and ethical way to protect the tribe /j)

Food's pretty good

Halkrath, Kuta, Garnet and Yukiko are being tailed by a bearyena (and a wanderer)

A wanderer has been invited in and had a child.

Good luck and don't flood the island with babies /hj

Also any story/character challenges? And we should make a family tree for this so we all know who is related to which starter and for bios (Haven't opened up the savefile yet so it may be apparent for now and I wouldn't know but in the future this may be important)

Part 1 of my second turn: Young Hunters (days 88-89)
20210614174849_1.thumb.jpg.0b3ca7fd99095a189cbbc47f7f05378a.jpg

Lenlen and Kuku have killed something in Modiano's turn which I take upon myself to pick up and collect the meat from.

20210614175122_1.thumb.jpg.0c2f7e8b1a9923e42baf294ed8e5939c.jpg
Then, an unfortunate rabbil shows up and Lenlen and Kuku kill it as well. The two have become friends and quite the hunting pair.

20210614175206_1.thumb.jpg.552010fc62d06a417c1f06beea146756.jpg
Retare and Moaroara pick plants from the sticky fruit tree, which appears to be their assigned task.

20210614175254_1.thumb.jpg.1697d14a700ec682d12d3f0ec0b876a8.jpgUirom and Bhu'ja mate. (I'm already flooding the island with babies, I apologize Modiano). At least a berry bush obscures the view of their child Kali (who is so cute btw!)

20210614175621_1.thumb.jpg.16276297fda9f04ac73283a7a1f4b776.jpg
I panic as I realize Kali has no-one to protect them. I zoom out to see the bluebird, all the way on the other side of the island, but there none-the-less. So, after checking Chisel's relations to the couple to be sure it makes sense, I rush Auntie Chisel down to protect the baby. She warns the young parents of the dangers of the bird.

20210614180304_1.thumb.jpg.41cdb7af96a4fb5d920a6b51bf1a08f8.jpg
I figure Memela, Pridukir, Quin, Than-guan and their children are migrating together to the penninsula adjacent to the port since they looked to be in that direction. I continue the migration, but I have Rufus leave the group in search of his brother after realizing him and Swan may be an ideal pairing to get purr-snout in the family. Pridukir leaves his mate's side, making her mildly annoyed at his delaying the migration, to invite his elder and lonely sister Makiia along.

20210614180424_1.thumb.jpg.e1b1ce368273f3db9cb79f5e48ef6ca1.jpg
Not being the best group of fighters and having rescued Garnet, the group being attacked by the bearyena flees in hopes that it will follow them towards more and better fighters who then can help to fight it with minimal injury.

20210614180622_1.thumb.jpg.3bae95612f75e2b8bee9ff3215c7a310.jpg

Halkrath flies over to Pridukkir to ask for his help in fighting the bearyena. She then flies over to Bhu'ja and Uirom to ask for the help of their family.

20210614180655_1.thumb.jpg.25333aec57a87982885535c9373a3512.jpg

Kappa tries to fish a razorona or clown koi, but fails both times.

20210614180931_1.thumb.jpg.5aaece2796d122d8a06d82f4758747d6.jpg

The bearyena has dissapeared without a trace. Apparently us running away was a smart move, as it found better prey. With no immediate threat, the nichelings decide it isn't worth it to go searching for the bearyena.

20210614181418_1.thumb.jpg.8ff1389cdc2a04a8c8aeb2fcb619e7d2.jpg

Halkwrath flies up to make sure the bearyena really is gone, and her mate comes to assist her. They do not hear or smell the bearyena. It is back to life as usual. Bear and Chisel breed for the last time, preparing for their final child.

20210614181603_1.thumb.jpg.55474c1894e6c141d237293d14ba21c5.jpg

Kappa decides to go for some regular fish instead, and easily suceeds.

20210614181720_1.thumb.jpg.302ff7c8d5472f23b62aec613e731808.jpg

Memela makes her way into the penninsula, heading towards the swampy terrain. Makiia leaves her berry bush to join the group.

20210614181902_1.thumb.jpg.67b45083ba9e480cfed93320065fda9f.jpg

Memela claws at the swamp thorns, she succeeds in destroying them, but scratches herself up in the process. She takes quite a bit of damage. Than-guan peers uneasily into the swamp, unnerved by Memela getting hurt and by the dark colors.

20210614181947_1.thumb.jpg.c58845f6e84ccdbe433ac99ba2f9bc53.jpg

Memela clears a path and Quinn goes through to check it out, finding that there is familiar green grass on the other side. This reassures Than-guan, and she greatfully yet cautiously follows her mate into the penninsula.

20210614182006_1.thumb.jpg.4f5141dcb998658a29373bea52345cd0.jpg

Kuta convinces Halkwrath not to worry about the bearyena and they prepare to have another child. Garnet comes to the berry bush hoping to be useful, but finds it empty. Halkwrath tells him he wouldn't be able to pick them anyways with the paws he has, but that she can't either and that is just fine. She explains that his paws would be ideal for hunting, and she decides to take him on a hunting trip.

20210614182111_1.thumb.jpg.4bd738b11ef74b44bc57ba626031cf1e.jpg

Halkwrath tries to grab a rabbil from the sky as Garnet comes down to watch, but it escapes her grasp as she doesn't have the strength to kill it easily. She tries again, still without success. Garnet isn't discouraged though, he watches his new mentor carefully. Pridukkir had already caught a rabbit earlier that turn, and was probably telling Garnet about how to hunt also.

End of part 1
Let me know if I mixed any characters up or made any other mistakes!

Halkrath and Kuta weren't hoing to have more kids, but since they are going to anyway, name the kids after a Persona 4 character (why? Because)

And a challenge for you! No more than 3 kids per pair, no breeding until the baby opens its eyes ;D

Makiia's first love?

Oh yeah he must've died before they could have any kids :( probably in @SafiraCoyfolf's turn. So he doesn't show up on the family tree. Makiia has had a depressing life. At least she gets to spend her last days exploring with her brother and his kin.

Three kids per pair! Proposterous numbers!

I didn't know Halkrath and Kuta were not supposed to have any more...nobody told me. Is there a story-wise reason? I was breeding them because she's the only fully winged creature and is going to die fairly quickly, but if you had already decided they weren't I will not breed them again. I don't know what Persona 4 is, but just suggest a few names from it and I'll be happy to name the child after it.

I guess I could not breed the baby until it opens it's eyes but wouldn't that be worse since they can see what's going on? That is a reasonable request. I think I'll do baby numbers on a case-by-case basis based on the pair's history, personality, genes, and age. Some pairs it may make more sense, storywise and strategically, to breed more, where-as others may only need to have one child to get their genes through and probably wouldn't want another. It is my predisposition to breed everyone, though I will generally breed those who have had less children already or who have not passed on a specific gene. I think that's why I bred Lurk and Yosuke so much, I was trying to get that darned scorpian tail in the family, and I failed unfortunately.

But if you all want me to limit the babies I shall have to try for the good of the challenge. We can set a baby limit if everyone wants to, or we can let it be more flexible and based on the circumstances.

In other news, how would everyone feel about going to another island soon? @Modiano @SafiraCoyfolf @Mothpool

There is absolutely no story reason for the no more kids thing for Halkrath and Kuta.

As for names... Chie for a girl (Yukiko and Chie are best friends in-game) and Kanji for a boy. In case of twins name the other one Yu if boy, Rise if girl.

I'd be okay if they went to another island, though if it happens during my round they'll go to a medium island

I might send them to the killer island on off of the newly explored penninsula

Thanks for the name suggestions! I'm no good at naming nichelings anyways.

I'm going to check the challenge rules to see what it says about going to other islands.

Sad that there's no story reason, but I will not make them have more children

Part 2 of my second Turn: Collecting and Exploring (day 90)

20210617204504_1.thumb.jpg.28f9f7c6283e303349f02713efdf99bd.jpg

Garnet and Hulkrath try and hunt the bunny. It runs away from Hulkrath as she tries to chase it toward Garnet, into the darkness past where she can see. Garnet jumps on another bunny that is stealing some berries, but doesn't have enough moves to kill it. Pridukkir, meanwhile, hunts a stag-mole. Demonstrating how a good hunt should go.

20210617204542_1.thumb.jpg.f5c6c3f5b43e6e0da0512ffccbf31268.jpg

Pridukkir yells to Halkrath to come collect the meat before leaving to join his family. Bear, meanwhile, collects some berries.

20210617204619_1.thumb.jpg.043b8b778cd6eb13656eabce3bc8d7f9.jpg

Yukiko comes to try and catch the rabbil, but it escapes her grasp just as easily as it confounded Garnet and Halkrath.

20210617204714_1.thumb.jpg.4b05b42bdd490570937add323bb35c3d.jpg

Kali's parents gather berries and then her mother moves back to protect her. I am unable to move her without putting her at risk for the bird, so I don't move her this day.

20210617204752_1.thumb.jpg.34b15536c58c0ad7524d5de39447b78b.jpg

Lenlen goes swimming in the river as Moaroara picks stinky fruit. Then he spies a dead clown koi, odd, but some easy food.

20210617204841_1.thumb.jpg.b5f68826df4d3f5ed574b4a45ff4569f.jpg

Kuta picks berrries. You can see in the distance the healing fruit! I actually didn't know that was there and was pretty excited about it.

20210617204945_1.thumb.jpg.e4ecdb705bc47b482d55b22709ff07d7.jpg

forgot why I took this

20210617205434_1.thumb.jpg.a0c9c3eedd715b967d96d8f934c92079.jpg

Makiia likes the swamp and moves deeper into it to help explore on her last day of life

20210617205509_1.thumb.jpg.e66206912ca4010054db0e4c2a152b67.jpg

There is abundant food all around us. Eli is especially keen on hunting. Than-guan appreciated the acorns and gathered one.

20210617205630_1.thumb.jpg.49a12bccf40dfd471a64e537e32b867d.jpg

Eli and Memela go on a hunt, but only with Quinn's help can they finish it. They do succeed in killing a rabbil and gathering the meat.

20210617205717_1.thumb.jpg.c8e9ef14fc0101fc76cf3d0dbbcc8b3d.jpg

Rufus and Rian meet up, they're happy to see eachother after being apart for so long.

20210617205740_1.thumb.jpg.619eb5a091fa052d271a51ec839af56d.jpg

Rian and Rufus go to explore together and smell something interesting in the grasses.

20210617211944_1.thumb.jpg.a730752f0c79de4c720bef992874308b.jpg

Kappa picks some algae and attempts to kill the razorona, they fail. But at least we get some more nesting material from the algae.

20210617212017_1.thumb.jpg.4a30a34528c1b291ba77d7ef944778bc.jpg

Chisel digs up two roots the same turn!

20210617212056_1.thumb.jpg.48c402b6d9e05904800a873dfcd66782.jpg

Swan goes off to look for some roots. Her father, Bear, goes with her to be sure she's alright.

Thats the end of part 2

(I won't be able to complete my turn this week like I said :( I think I will have enough time to do so next week, will keep you all posted! If you have any tips, suggestions, or challenges let me know)

So, I'm trying to get to the next island before my 25 days is up (and before we waste any more food on nichelings who aren't coming). I have carefully selected all the nichelings to bring to the next island. I am 3-4 days away from having used all 25 days in my turn. (Also no internet rn so I'm using my sister's unlimited data phone to msg this to u.)  All look like they will make it, except one baby on the far side of the island. I would like to bring them because of their good genes and because they are a child of Memela and Priddukir (and because their fish face looks cute and if I don't bring them nobody with gills will come). I would like to use the move moveoccupant command to have an adult "carry" them to the ports. But this would be cheating and may break the challenge. What do you guys think?

Pic of their genes:

@Modiano @SafiraCoyfolf @Mothpool If I cannot bring the fishy I will have to bring another creature with decent genes near the port. I would like to complete my turn today either way, so let me know soon.

Adorable bab~

If you can get her over to the port fast enough without the moveoccupant command, then definitely bring her. She is baby.

I feel like using the console commands would be cheating . . . but those are good genes, and we don't wanna waste food on babs that we don't need too.

Hmm, maybe just for going to the ports we could use moveoccupant if the nicheling we want/need is too far away/too young to get there faster/our turn is ending?

How about we have one use of moveoccupant per turn?

Also, is your screen okay? It looks like it died a little bit . . .

That sounds like a good rule. We can use moveoccupant once per turn. Though maybe it should only be to get ppl on ports or if it makes story sense somehow (like picking up bbs or dragging another nicheling out of harm's way). So it isn't used just to teleport a nicheling far away from a bearyena. But I mean if you use it then you may regret it later when you need it so it may be self-limiting.

It was dropped a long time ago by my dad (was originally his). Normally I play on my desktop now but when I'm not at home I bring this with me to play on. So yeah sometimes I have this crack in the middle of my screen. It's annoying but other than that the laptop works well.

I am done with my turn! Will post screenshots and save file when I can. Putting down some challenges/reminders for next person with savefile before I forget.

Kuku took some unfortunate damage from a bearyena (which he then obliterated) shortly before we left. He is low on health and as such you should breed him and his mate as much as possible and try and find a healing plant for him. Also maybe try and sheild him in case a predator attack if possible. That being said, he won't be easy to protect as he likes to hunt and will try and protect those he cares about. Only his mate and his adoptive brother Moaroara may be able to talk him out of it. Though he is smart and will likely try and have other strong members help him, he probably won't try and fight predators on his own. Is also respected by most everyone.

I have used gems to mark family lines and breeding pairs. If a nicheling has one or 2 gems that arent green its simply their family line marked. If a nicheling has 3 colored gems then the other nicheling with those colors is their mate.

Eli likes to hunt and fight. She also likes to explore. She's often impulsive and headstrong. Her mate Garnet is good at fighting and has a tender heart. He's protective but also wise. He doesn't go looking for trouble but will sacrifice himself for the sake of the group. Garnet is able to convince his mate not to do something stupid sometimes, amd she may also listen to Kuku since he is strong. Also, these two should breed soon to prevent one of them dying without passing on their genes because I think their personalities make them prone to it.

Quinn Jr. doesn't like the barren rocks of the mountain at all. But he ventures out of the grass from time to time to dig roots. Was first coaxed out by Kuku.

Kappa is Kuku's mate and she loves him dearly. She fears he is weakened by the bearyena encounter and will soon die. She is eager to have children. She also has a great love for water and hangs out near the shore alot.

Moaroara is the explorer. He knows alot and his speed and knowledge. are appreciated. He doesn't mind the boring task of gathering berries or putting his life on the line to protect the tribe from predators. The only child of Makiia, abandoned by his mother, he was adopted by Retare and shares a brotherly bond with his adoptive brother Kuku. He has no mate at the moment, but is certainly not opposed if he finds the right female.

Raella is the fishy miracle child that was "picked up" to be brought to the other side of the island. Moaroara is the one who picked her up and as such he practically raised her. So she views him as her father and sticks closely to him. He loves her like his adoptive mother loved him. She isn't very close to Eli, though she has seen her before when she was a baby and their mother was alive.

Chie was raised by her sister Yukiko. She is sad her sister didn't want to come to another island, (Yukiko loves the swamp where she was raised and didn't want to leave). Chie is a bit clingy to Kuku atm cause he is the one who took the poor child hunting. She is tentative and a bit shy. She isn't very good at hunting but still wants to succeed in it because of her heritage.

Rufus and Swan are in love and care about eachother. They are a mating pair expecting their first child. Swan dove right into the icy water to find food, (she didn't like water early in her life but has developed the love of it swimming near the port with her father, Bear). Rufus doesn't like water, especially cold water, but will do anything for Swan so he dove right in after her. Swan and Rufus are quite practical and focus on gathering food. They are the only tribe members who enjoy berry-gathering. Rufus is also the official bug-eater now that Yukiko is gone and will come help his tribemates should any bugs need eating. They will defend eachother and will also come help and defend Kappa if neccesary. Kappa and her sister are quite close.
