Terrorclan: A clan of rogues

Code of Terrorclan:

1. Defend your clan, even with your life. You must remain loyal to your clan. You may have friendships with those outside the clan, unless the leader forbides it for a specific reason, but you must remain loyal to your clan above your loyalty to them.

2. Elders, queens, kits, and sick or injured cats are to be protected. In fact, they must be defended since they cannot defend themself. They must be fed before warriors and apprentices.

3. Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to Star Clan for its life.

4. A kit must be at least 4 moons old to begin training as an apprentice.

5. Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name. They may only speak during the vigil if the camp is attacked.

6. Upon the death, retirement, or exile of the leader, the clan deputy will become the new leader.

7. After the death, retiremnt, promotion, or exile of the deputy, the leader must choose a cat they see fit to become deputy. The chosen deputy may be challenged by other cats in a traditional Leader Fight.

8. All cats who wish to challenge must say so up front. If more than 1 cat wishes to challenge the chosen deputy, the cats will fight eachother first for the right to challenge the deputy, and then the deputy will fight the winning challenger.

9. Leader Fights will end when one of the two cats surrenders or when one of the two is too injured to continue the fight, determined by the leader and medicine cat. You may not continue to attack if one of these has occured, doing so will result is disqualification for the position of deputy.

10. Medicine cats and their apprentices are valuable to the clan and not to be harmed. You may not withold food from them, even when it is scarce. They must be listened to in matters of healing and Star clan.

11. The word of the clan leader is the warrior code.

12. Clan territory must be patrolled daily. Challenge all trespassing cats.

13. No cat of Terror Clan should neglect a kit in pain or danger, even if the kit is a kit of wanderers, loners, outsiders, or other clans.

14. A new leader must travel to the moonstone to gain their nine lives.

15. An honorable warrior does not have to kill to win a battle, unless it is neccesary for self defence.

16. Only male medicine cats may have kits.

17. Other clans who are passing through must be respected and allowed to get to their destination. You may bring them, unharmed, to the leader to be questioned.

18. No she-cat of the clan may be killed, banished, or prevented from being a warrior or apprentice because of being a she-cat.

(if I forgot anything that might be important let me know. Some of these may be confusing, but they will make sense once I get into the backstory and actual playthrough)

me too

(ik the name is kinda confusing that way...but it was the name of the leader before Taman who they now view as a martyr even tho he was actually not much better. Also it fits them I think...would it help if I made it two Rs instead of one?

Or i could just change the former leader's name. Scar was kinda uncreative. Some names are good of mine like flashes of inspirartion....others are just terrible and a lot of the time I struggle with names lol)

(It fits lol. wait does that mean their old leader was named Terror?

Also Scarclan was bad enough, don't think pinky would consent to naming the clan he's leading after terror....

tho he does put up with a lot of stuff already and names are just words...right?)

I mean, it would make sense if the leader changed his name to be more intimidating

Caught Between Claws and Ocean Moon 0

Pinky watched his beloved and her clan as they trekked upon the rocks toward lands unknown for a couple minutes longer than he could spare, but he soon had to turn his attention to what happened next. And it wasn't looking good. He could stay on this tiny rock of an island forever, Taman's Group wouldn't dare attempt to swim to him after they just saw their leader drown, but they would be sure to camp the beach until he starved to death on this tiny piece of what couldn't even be called land. No, if he wanted a chance at survival, he had to move now.

Pinky plunged into the water, he wouldn't call himself a good swimmer, but he was decent, unlike Taman. As they had clawed at eachother beneath the waves, Pinky had become aware that the rogue leader was trying to climb up him at first, toward air, which had only a small chance of saving his life, and a much larger chance of dooming Pinky to death. When this was revealed to be fruitless, he had tried to yank Pinky down into the depths with him... Pinky tried not to think about it. He'd have time to sort out his feelings later, at least, that's what he always told himself. The rogue leader had been a fool to pursue the clan cats onto the stepping stones. He was arrogant, and arrogance leads to death.

As Pinky struggled through the water he was suddenly grateful for the swimming lessons his mother had given him and his siblings. Especially the one where in the ocean, the time Ruby had nearly drowned. It was the most difficult of the lessons, and also the final one. Their mother had not made them take another swimming lesson after that near disaster. Part of him wished she had as another wave crashed into his back. But at least the waves were pushing him toward the island, and the currents weren't dragging him out to sea.

Finally, shore was nearby. Pinky made a couple final strides before setting his paws on the squishy sand and dragging himself ashore. He was exhausted and thoroughly wet, which led to him laying there for a few seconds, but there was no time to rest. He heaved himself upwards and surveyed the area. As far as he could see clearly, beach stretched in either direction, but then he saw a blurry blue beyond the beach where it likely gave way to more water, a peninsula?

The beach was too open, he would be too easily spotted. He crept into the swamp grasses, moving cautiously with each step...

Then he spotted movement in the grasses. He stared at the spot, wanting to be sure of what was there before he reacted. But there was another rustle in another location, and he caught sight of a creature as big as him with a bright reddish-orange pelt. Cats! Members of Taman's Group.

He whirled around and ran the other direction, but was stopped short by a cat on the beach, snarling and blocking his path. He veered to the left, but nearly fell into the ocean. Running the other way, two cats blocked his path. Figuring the ocean was a better shot, he ran back, but now the cat who had blocked him before was joined by another, blocking his route. He backed up slowly and whirled around to see the land route now completely blocked by a group of cats, and the other end of the beach was still blocked off. Beyond it he could make out water clearly now. It is a peninsula, and that makes it the perfect place for an ambush!

"Nice swimming, lone-cat," snarled a pure white cat.

"Do you want lessons?" said Pinky, licking his fur to keep his demeanor non-chalet and himself calm.

 "Funny," hissed the white cat.

"No, I'm serious, it seems you all could use some," Pinky said, unable to keep a taunting tone out of his voice as he thought about the way they all had sat on the beach looking stupid while he swam out to the platform to help Fernstar.

"You think we have no honor?" growled a yellow cat with pink markings, "We wouldn't take swimming lessons from the cat who killed our leader! Not even if we ripped you to shreds after."

"No talking your way out of this one," snarled the white cat, taking a step toward him.

The yellow and pink cat flexed his claws.

"You talk about honor? This leader you wish to avenge, he had no honor! And neither do you if you avenge that traitorous murderer of a fur-ball!" spat Pinky.

The cats began hurling insults at him for accusing their leader.

"Shred him!" screeched a voice from behind

"You have no right-"

Pinky had to raise his voice above the noise, "And Taman had no right to be leader after he conspired against Terror Bringer with the outsiders!"

Some of the cats gasped, but others continued to sneer. "You think we would believe the word of a lone-cat who is known to be a friend of the outsiders?" hissed the yellow and pink cat.

"Would you at least hear what I claim to have happened?" Pinky asked.

"All I want to hear is your screams," growled the white cat.

"Don't be so eager Basher, I, for one, want to hear what he has to say," said a grey cat with red facial markings. Pinky noticed that the cat was blind.

Basher's tail thrashed back and forth "Are you serious? I-"

With one flick of his tail and an order, "Silence!" the yellow and pink cat quieted them. Pinky wondered if this was their new leader. His heart thudded at the thought.

"Humor me," said the yellow and pink cat.

"Taman had been a prisoner of the outsiders for some time, but he finally escaped when a young member of their group, his son, got a little too curious. When the young cat got close, Taman grabbed him and pulled him into the water, holding him under until the guards let him go free. Worrying the cat would drown, the guards had no choice."

"Taman told us about his escape," growled the white cat.

"How do you know the cat was his son?" said a light brown rogue who was behind Pinky, guarding the beach.

"I've seen the lad. He has a twisted snout. None of the outsiders have one, only native cats do."

"But that only proves he was the son of a native cat," said the yellow and pink cat.

"I was also told by their leader the parentage of the young cat multiple times throughout the moons I was in contact with them," said Pinky calmly.

"They could've been lying," sneered the yellow and pink cat.

"You could be lying," snarled the white cat.

Pinky shrugged, "Believe what you want. I say Taman was lying. He knew you wouldn't approve, so he didn't mention that the cat he nearly drowned to escape was his own son."

"It doesn't change anything," said the orange-red cat, "his son was a traitor."

"His son was raised by the outsiders because Taman didn't care enough about him. His son believed what he was raised to believe. He never had the chance to choose," Pinky knew that it was a good thing Bugpaw was raised by the clan cats, but talking his way out of being shredded required a little imagination.

Pinky continued his story, "After Taman escaped..." he told of how Taman had made a deal with the rogue cats to avoid his own death.

"Once the outsiders were gone, Taman came back to the scene of the crime to act like he had been the valiant defender. He was setting up the scene to fit his story better when his daughter stumbled upon it. He knew he wouldn't be able to fool her after what she had seen, but knew she would be obedient. So he sent her back to tell the group his version of what had happened and that Terror Bringer was badly hurt. She did so. You all believed Taman's story, and when he became leader, everyone thought him to be strong and noble.

"Even when Taman's daughter disappeared later, nobody suspected Taman had tried to kill her-"

"You say tried, as in, he didn't succeed?" said a grey cat with brown markings.

"No, he didn't. I know because I talked to her. How else would I have known all this?" Pinky hadn't even revealed this to the clan cats, now he had to reveal it to a group that may still be intent on killing her.

"You know her name, then?" asked the yellow and pink cats. Trick question.

"She doesn't have a name. Most she-cats of your group don't."

"Impressive," growled the yellow and pink cat, "but I still don't believe you. And even if I do, it changes nothing."

"If his story is true it changes a lot," growled the blind cat.

The yellow and pink cat's tail thrashed, "How dare you challenge me in front of the whole group!"

"Before you get all bent out of shape," said a gruff voice, the light brown cat behind Pinky, "you should know that none of this means anything. It doesn't matter what either of you think. It only matters what the leader thinks. And you aren't leader yet, Thrasher. We must have a Leader Fight."

"That's right, the new leader gets to decide whether he lives or dies," said the orange-red cat.

"Fine, then let's have it right now," growled the yellow and pink cat, who was apparently named Thrasher.

"No," said the light brown cat, "it's getting late and we're all tired. For optimal strength these fights are best held in the morning when everyone has been resting all night."

"Fine," hissed Thrasher, "but let's move inland a bit more to prepare for the fight and make it harder for the lone-cat to escape."

Pinky tried to remain calm as three guards surrounded him and he was escorted further inland. He had known it was a possibility for him to be the prisoner of these cats, but now his life was invested in the battle for leadership that would take place tomorrow. That was even more nerve-racking then them shredding him right there on the beach. At least my talking yielded one more night...just them listening as long as they did was improbable.

As the cats settled down for the night, Pinky wondered if he should try and escape. But his eyelids were already drooping and his muscles ached. Better to wait until morning. He thought as he settled down for the night himself.

The Dream Moon 0

459321685_PinkyinSCclearing.PNG.9225da50685f0deabb2949bb42d5fa4e.PNG

Pinky opened his eyes, thinking that somewhere between the tossing and turning he must've fallen asleep and it was morning already. His mind raced with ideas for an escape plan; he didn't think any of the rogue group would let him go unharmed. It doesn't matter who wins this leader fight thing, I'm a caught mouse.

But when he looked around he saw no-one. This can't be right! Where are the rogues? He was in a clearing he didn't recognize...and what's worse, the grass even looked different. A vibrant shade of green he had never seen before in his life. It's a good thing the rogues are gone, right? I'm free, aren't I? But...I'm completely lost! And-and how did I get here? He smelled the air, but didn't smell the boggy scents of the swamp, his nostrils were flooded with a strange mix of scents. He began to panic, but he didn't wish to call out either. Wherever he was, maybe the rogues had followed him, and the inhabitants of this strange place may not be friendly...

"Welcome Pinky, do not worry yourself, you won't be here long," the voice caused Pinky to instinctively arch his back, his claws coming out.

1304531230_PinkyandBrindlestarinSCclearing.PNG.9a89dfb0e8db42689bf00147cd184a26.PNG

He studied the cat who had spoken. A tom, he didn't look aggressive, nor surprised that Pinky was on his land. His pelt shimmered slightly, making Pinky more ill at ease, "Who-who are you? H-how do you know-"

"Your name?" the tom smiled, his tail held upright in a friendly gesture, "We've been watching you. I'm the one who brought you here-"

"You've been stalking me?" hissed Pinky, "and abducted me to bring me to this place?"

"No, you don't understand, let me explain," the tom paused. Pinky could've interrupted again, but he knew better, though he didn't trust the tom in the slightest, he may be the only one who could bring him back home. "My name is Brindlestar."

"You-you have a clan name?" asked Pinky, does this cat know Fernstar? Did he bring me here to see her? Is she here now?

"Yes," said Brindlestar, "I was a cat of Green Clan, but now I am a Star Clan cat. I'm sure Fernstar told you about us."

"She-she mentioned it a few- wait, how do you know about me and Fernstar, has she told the clan?" Pinky asked, confused.

"No, I did not here of it from her. You still don't understand. I was leader of Green Clan before Fernstar. Now that I am dead I am in Star Clan, and we know many things." The tom patiently explained.

"But-but you're dead! That's-that's not possible!" growled Pinky.

"Fernstar believed in us, why shouldn't you?" challenged Brindlestar.

How could I have gotten here? I couldn't have traveled in my sleep...wait, that's it! This is a dream! Just a really weird dream! "You're-you're not real! This is a dream, you're in my mind!"

"Well yes, this is a dream, but I am very much real. And it is more than just an average dream, Star Clan is visiting you in your sleep," said Brindlestar.

"Now-now that Fernstar is gone I'm dreaming about clan cats because I miss her. I'm piecing this together based on various things she's told me. It's amazing what your subconscious can do!"

1307410971_PinkygettingattckedbyWoodstar.PNG.d9576b8e649c7d1a1eebfe1eef1fab5d.PNG

Suddenly he felt a sting in his cheek as claws sliced across it. He whirled to face the attacker, hissing.

"Woodstar! Is that how you treat a future clan leader?" yowled a mortified Brindlestar.

"He's no clan leader yet," Woodstar retorted.

67708882_BrindlestarandWoodstarinclearing.PNG.32d95b24907c93ca7c1ad83fe6b4a078.PNG

"You know him?" hissed Pinky, taking a swipe which 'Woodstar' artfully dodged.

"Blame your subconscious," snarled Woodstar, "unless you're ready to believe we're real now."

Pinky charged at Woodstar, growling. Nobody was going to get away with drawing blood across his check unprovoked, not even a dream figment.

Brindlestar blocked his path, "Both of you stop this minute!" he whirled around to look at Woodstar in the eyes, "This is not the way to settle this."

"He must believe we are real if he is to take seriously what we're about to tell him," said Woodstar calmly, "and when he feels the sting of my scratch on his cheek in the morning, he will."

"And that is enough. He must not have scratches and bites all over him!" insisted Brindlestar.

"I must defend my honor," said Pinky.

"Now is not the time," said Brindlestar.

"Agreed," said Woodstar, "though if you want to do this some other time-"

Brindlestar rolled his eyes, "Are you really so bored that you wish to fight living cats in dreams? Star Clan isn't that boring."

Woodstar chuckled as he faded away, and so did Brindlestar. I knew the were figments of my imagination! They must be to fade away like that.

The clearing also faded, and was replaced with water. Water swirling in an angry mass, trees floating in it, cats clinging desperately to anything they could find. The earth giving way before the rushing water. Pinky had never seen anything like it.

"This is only the aftermath," said a voice next to him, and as he looked he saw Brindleface.

"What-what happened here?"

"The huge waves that came over the land," said Brindlestar, "in other parts there was a great shaking of the earth that made mountains crumble, great fires where there had never been before, water steadily rising until it was much like this, great winds that could blow cats and entire camps away. The disasters that destroyed the five clans. That destroyed Green Clan, that killed everyone Fernstar loved, including me, her leader. They were not fake, and you did not know of them, until now."

Scenes of great destruction flashed before Pinky's eyes...it was all too much to take at once.

"How-how did anyone survive?" Pinky asked.

"They had the protection of Star Clan. Five cats, one from each destroyed clan, plus one rogue who saved Fernstar from loosing all her lives to drowning, these six, they are the original Remnant Clan. Remnant Clan is all that remains of the five clans. And you are going to help them. Your quest is to save Remnant Clan by preventing the rogues from coming after them."

"That's impossible! The rocks which Remnant Clan left upon have crumbled into the sea!"

"They are made from ocean deposits, and they will, over time, form again. By that time the rogues will be very strong indeed, and determined to take revenge. They will kill Fernstar's children. They will kill all toms except those who they find useful, torturing some to death. They will use all she-cats and then discard them just as easily. You are the only cat who can prevent this."

"But-but how?"

"You must make the rogues into a clan. Give them a code."

"What? After all they've done? I'd rather rip every one to shreds!"

"You can't do it alone, and nobody on the island has the courage to stand up to them. They are vulnerable right now, and leaderless, this is the only time it could be done."

"Find someone else then!" growled Pinky, "Even if I agreed in principle, I'm not the one you want for this job. I'm used to being alone. I like it that way."

"You didn't mind the thought of joining Remnant Clan," said Brindlestar knowingly.

"Yeah, but that was different. Find someone else!"

"It must be you. You fulfilled the prophecy," said a new voice.

Pinky looked to see who it was, and saw Woodstar standing beside Brindlestar silently before seeing the source of the words. A small brown cat with large mysterious eyes stared back at him.

1074969463_Mudpawinclearing.PNG.eaf8b3c7e3fad628367de007bd433655.PNG

"Who are you?" growled Pinky.

"Mudpaw," the cat answered, "I'm sure Fernstar told you about me."

"Yes, aren't you the one that Taman murdered?"

"Yes, Taman murdered me. And just before he died I saw a vision of a cat fighting him underwater, of him drowning. You fulfilled that vision, and the fulfiller of that vision must be the one-"

"Alright, alright, but why would you want me to help the rogues?" asked Pinky, confused.

"I lived among them. I saw how they treated their own. The so-called 'weak' died. Many of them were my friends. But I felt pity not just for them, but the ones causing their death. They too would grow old and weak, if they made it that long, they would be expendable then. And what sort of life were they living in the meantime? A life where they had to try and be the first cat to beat every other to the top, where not even siblings can trust eachother. Where nobody ever has any love or peace, and every day is another struggle just to prove how strong you are, lest you be considered weak. And the ones that get sick-they have no medicine. No cat even cares for them. Sickness can strike even the strongest cat, and nobody helps them. They wouldn't even let me help them, even though that's what I do.

The result of all this? A listless meaningless existence, and the eventual destruction of the group after they destroy everyone else around them. The only thing that holds them together is the need to survive in the midst of enemies. Once the enemies are gone, they turn against eachother and tear eachother apart. The cause is the lack of a moral code and respect for the dignity of life. Give them these things, and they might find a purpose, or at least won't be wrecking havoc on the island anymore."

"Do it for Fernstar," added Brindlestar.

"Fine," growled Pinky after thinking for a few minutes, "I'll try it. But how?"

"The rogues value strength," said Woodstar, "show them you are strong. That's your way in."

"They won't change overnight," added Mudpaw.

"Once you have found a way into the group, we will meet again, and you will be given the full code. Until then, do what you know is right," said Brindlestar, before the three of them faded away.

((I did so much work on this and I wanna get back to it but the problem is I wrote the whole next scene and had it saved on another computer but I can't find it on my current laptop. Maybe it could be on a flashdrive somewhere? I don't really feel like re-writing it tho I basically know what happens. Should I just post a summary of what happened and then continue the playthrough? Or should I wait till I find it, if I find it?

Also if I do continue this do you prefer a more story/book style like RemnantClan or do you prefer a more summary style like Prehistoric Salt, or something in-between?

If you don't feel like rewriting it, and you can't find the flash drive but you also want to continue this, then you can summarise and continue the playthrough as normal, if you want.

Also I don't mind what style you write in, whatever is more comfortable for you at the moment.

The Fight Moon 0

When Pinky woke, he wasn't sure if his dream had been "real" or not. That is until he felt the sting on his cheek and glanced into a nearby puddle. Indeed, Woodstar had left a mark.

Once he knew it was real, he had to figure out what the dream clan cats had meant about these rogues "valuing strength". As he watched the leader fight, it became clear. He had to fight, and he had to win. He wasn't even sure these rogues would let him, but he had to try, not just for the starry dream cats, for his own survival.

So as Thrasher defeated challenger after challenger, Pinky observed his every move. He learned what the tom would resort to in different situations. He watched the way he fought. The tom was strong, but he relied too heavily on his strength. If he got you in his jaws it was game over, but he was too heavy to be fast, and too arrogant to think any of his battle moves could fail or be thwarted.

The group nearly didn't let Pinky fight him, as he was a lone-cat, not a group member, and a captive at that. But Pinky played on Thrasher's arrogance and blood-thirst to get him to want the challenge. Once the reigning champion and presumed leader accepted it, nobody dared challenge him.

1678776502_Screenshot-12_22_20228_17_09PM.thumb.png.3d7bbf60f9414ec25c68f9240cbadff3.png

Pinky was a decent fighter in his own right, much better than Thrasher had expected. He had to be, to have survived on his own this long. He used the fighting skills his mother had taught him and his siblings, that he had taken time to refine over the moons. And he used his greater speed and agility to his advantage. He knew he couldn't defeat Thrasher right away, he had to wear him down first.

Using his observations of Thrasher's fighting, he thwarted some of the tom's best moves. He even injured the tom's right claw. But the biggest blow of all was caused because of the arrogance of the tom. The tom was enraged after being eluded so long, and he used his fury to pin Pinky against a rock.

1425652661_Screenshot-12_22_20228_19_11PM.thumb.png.013ed2eaf268f948ab6c3c0ab3fd19a8.png

But as he reared up for a killing blow, he took time to insult Pinky, giving him a window to slide out from underneath the tom, going through his hind legs. He then used Thrasher's own momentum against him, jumping ontop of the tom's lifted head, causing it to smash into the rock.

409850527_Thrashersheadisbangedonrock.PNG.91889d15434991699373a895362a1954.PNG

The yellow and pink tom crumpled to the ground instantly. The shocked rogues didn't seem to know what to do. Pinky checked to see if the tom was breathing. Sure, he wanted to defeat the tom, but he didn't mean to kill him! He thought the rock would knock out some of his large fangs or wind him, but it appeared it had injured him much worse.

The tom was, indeed, breathing. But his own sons, Basher (white cat) and Smasher (blind cat) refused to help treat him, on account of their father had made known he wished to die "strong", without help from a healer or being looked after like a kit. He got what Mudpaw had said about this stubborn group now, and figured the healer would be disappointed if Pinky didn't try and help. Pinky couldn't believe that out of all the cats here, he was the only one willing to try and treat the cat who was his enemy. Still, he looked behind the rock for some cobwebs, remembering his mother had told him about their ability to stop bleeding once, and find some.

857673192_Thrashersheadisbangedonrockaftermath.PNG.6b45b5bf5f49539abf6a0a4c1501367e.PNG

He was grilled by Basher over what he was going to do with the cobwebs, and Pinky got so frustrated he tried to order the tom to stand down and let him treat his father. But the cat responded that since Thrasher had never surrendered, Pinky couldn't be leader unless he did in fact die. Stunned, Pinky asked why the cat was basically telling him to let his own father die, or worse, kill him.

"Only the strong are fit to lead," hissed the cat, "not those who trick their opponent into smashing their head into a rock and aren't tom enough to finish the job."

"If you really care, leave," said the orange-red cat, "Maybe he'll recover on his own, and still be able to be leader. He wouldn't want to live anyway if he had to be like a mewling kit and you were in charge of the group he always wanted to lead himself."

"And who would lead in the meantime?" asked Pinky cooly.

"Me," asserted Basher, "as his eldest son." Now I understand his willingness to let his father suffer and die. It’s his own power he’s after.

“If you’re willing to let your own father die slowly of his wounds instead of trying to treat them then you are not worthy of such a position,” said Pinky coldly, starting to block the rapidly bleeding wound with cobwebs.

“Leave!” hissed Basher, hackles raised, “You’ve bought what you were after by defeating my father. Your life, your freedom. Don’t wait for us to change our minds and tear you to shreds!”

A few others murmured their agreement, but some seemed unsure. “You didn’t win the leader fight, Basher. The lone-cat is stronger than you. How can you lead?” asked the light brown cat.

“I’m only leader temporarily since my father is incapacitated, when he recovers-”

If he recovers, he’s not looking too good at the moment,” commented the orange-red cat.

“Don’t you dare contradict me!” yowled Basher.

“Why not?” he growled, tapping his claw on the ground.

“I could shred you, Pierce. And my father will have you killed if you cause me too much trouble.”

“Well you know what, I say the lone-cat should be leader. He proved he’s the strongest of all o us, especially you. Your father fought you, and defeated you within minutes. He fights your father and defeats him. Maybe even kills him. That makes him the obvious choice.”

Everyone was silent for a minute, the air cracking with tension, but no-one daring to say anything.

“Are you insane?” squealed a voice from behind, and Pinky looked to see a sandy-pink skinny nicheling with two bad paws. “Basher has proven himself time and time again, and yet you want this lone-cat who already seems hostile to our customs to lead?”

“Maybe the customs aren’t that important. They’ve lead us to this sorry state. We were once 20 strong, now only about a half-dozen remain,” said the grey and brown striped nicheling, “I joined this group with the hope of a longer, better life than I would’ve had being a lone-cat in this cruel place. But I’ve watched my brothers die. My own child died of a sickness. I’m weary of the death.”

I thought you were strong,” hissed Basher, “Smasher, can you believe this?” but when he nudged his brother he didn’t budge. He was staring at their father. That’s when Pinky realized his efforts were in vain. Perhaps he hadn’t done a very good job with the cobwebs, his work was messy and did have some gaps. Perhaps he could’ve done more if he had knowledge of herbs. Or perhaps the trauma of being smashed against a rock was too much at that particular angle. Thrasher was dead.

In the end, the light brown cat agreed that now that Thrasher had been killed from a wound incurred in the leader fight against Pinky, Pinky had officially won. He joined the two already supporting him as leader. And Smasher decided that he would rather stay with someone who had tried to heal his father, rather than someone who would’ve not even tried to help for their own power. He stayed in the group.

His brother left, taking with him the small sandy-pink tom. They vowed that they would harm the group in any way possible from now on. But Pinky let them leave, knowing attacking them now could cause further divisions. Then a she-cat emerged from the brushes, and Pierce explained that she was his mate, given to him by her father who was now dead. She seemed rather timid.

Pinky looked around at his rag-tag group. It was so small, and so barely held together. But he remembered that RemnantClan itself had started out so small, and hadn't grown much bigger by the time the clan left the island. He could do this...somehow. But first things first, before he started putting new requirements on the group, he had to show them Taman's daughter to prove he hadn't been lying. Plus, he figured she could join the newly formed clan of rogues so that he could continue to protect her, at least he hoped these roughiens would listen to him on this matter.

Taman's Daughter Moon 1

As the others waited, hidden in the grasses nearby, Pinky approached the small burrow that he had helped Taman's daughter find. Within seconds she appeared out of the burrow, with an anxious look.

"What are you doing here? Should I be in a hurry? Are we in danger?" Her confusion was warranted, since Pinky had told her he would never come unless there was a reason, and to be ready to leave at a moment's notice.

"No, you won't have to leave. In fact, now you will never have to leave your home again, if you so choose."

"What do you mean?"

"Your father is dead, so he will never come to bury the secrets you once kept."

"Dead?" she said with a gasp, "How did it happen?"

"He was trying to kill the outsiders as they left the island. He was ontop of one of them, killing them, and I had already swam out to see if I could help. I was clinging to this tiny rock island, and I cared about the cat deeply. So I knocked him off into the water. I didn't even realize he couldn't swim."

"He drowned," she concluded simply, "what an awful way to go. I can't say he didn't deserve it, though."

They stood there in silence for a minute, until she said, "But if you killed him, surely the rogue group will come for you. Thank you for telling me of my father's death, but the island is still just as dangerous."

"Well, that's the other thing I needed to tell you-"

"They're watching us," the young she-cat whispered urgently, tensing up.

A rustle came from behind Pinky, and he turned to see Pierce standing there, "What did I-" he was interrupted as he heard someone cry out behind him.

Taman's daughter had a leech stuck to her leg. It must've been washed in with the tide lapping at their paws.

"Let me help with that," said Pinky.

She backed up, tugging on the leech herself, "Why aren't you two fighting?"

"I'm sorry to have frightened you, I just had to get a good look at you myself," explained Pierce.

"What does he mean? What's going on here?"

"I'm now the leader of the rogue group," said Pinky, unable to keep dancing around the issue.

"What? How-why?"

"Pinky here won the leader fight, killing Thrasher. Really he only entered it to save his own skin, nobody thought he would actually win. Taman's death was his fault, so we were going to kill him. But he explained that Taman had been playing us for fools the whole time, so he was given a chance. The new leader would decide his fate, and then he showed he was the strongest, so now he's leader."

"But why? Can't you just walk away? No offense, Pierce, but living in your group is usually a dangerous proposition, especially being leader..." she turned back to Pinky, "you've put a target on your back!"

Pinky turned to the orange male, "Pierce, go back to the others, let them know I wasn't lying. And wait for me there."

"Right," he said, with a bit of a grumble. When he was gone, Pinky moved a bit further down the beach just in case.

"Let me see your leg, we have to get that leech out."

She nodded and grabbed a stick before lying down and sticking her leg out so he could grab the leech. She bit down on the stick as he pulled it out. Then briefly rinsed in salt water as she said, "You're in danger. Leaders of the rogue group don't last long. Besides, you're so kind, why would you want to be leader of such a cruel group?"

"Basher, the most cruel and ambitious of the group, has left along with another member. I'm sure they'll be back for revenge, but if anyone else agreed with them they would've gone with them. I'll keep my eyes wide open for traitors none-the-less."

"But you've never lived in a group before, have you?"

"No, that doesn't mean I've never had interactions with other cats, though. Besides, my fighting skills are unrivaled. I already demonstrated that, they would be foolish to take me on."

Taman's daughter laughed and shook her head, "Awful confident, aren't you? But again, why? Why not just walk away, go back to being a loner as you've always been?"

Pinky paused, wondering if he should tell the truth, "I haven't told anyone this...but...well I would sound crazy if I told you."

"Try me."

"Some cats visited me in my dreams, told me to become leader of this group, in order to make them into something better. In order to redeem them."

"OK, maybe you are crazy," she said in a teasing way.

Pinky laughed, "Yeah, if someone said that to me I would think them crazy too."

"You're the only cat that's ever made me laugh. And I know you wouldn't lie, so you've either gone insane, or are right. Either way is fine with me, but you need someone around to warn you of the dangers."

"Do you want to come with me? Be apart of a group again?"

She sat there for a minute, looking around the area, "I'll come with you. Like I said, you need someone to watch your back."

"Thank you, ...T-" she doesn't have a name, she should. But what should it be? After thinking a couple minutes, he figured since they were now going to be a clan, she should have a clan name. How did those work again? "Do you want a proper name?"

"Yes, I would like that. Not sure if the other group members would respect it though," she said with a hint of anxiety.

"But I would. And they will too, eventually. How about...Shallow Paw?"

"Like Red-claw's name, except it fits me better to have a paw than a claw. I like it. It reminds me of this place that I've called my home."

"Good, now I'm going to go tell the group. You stay here while I do."

"Nope, I'm right behind you. Remember, I'm the one who's going to watch your back!"

"Right," said Pinky, smiling, but hoping this wasn't a mistake.
