CosmicChaos21 Posted March 12, 2024 Author Posted March 12, 2024 Blossompaw trudged toward camp, trying her best to delay the inevitable of having to choose what she would do. Would she lie and live with the guilt for the rest of her life living a lie? Or would she come clean and ruin the life she had built and risk being chased out? Neither option seemed appealing to her if she was honest with herself. Eventually she made her way to the edge of camp. The usual hustle and bustle would usually energize her and bring her spirits high but at the moment it brought her nothing but anxiety. Would they stare at her with disgust and disdain after learning she had blood on her paws? After taking a breath she strutted into camp with an attempt to exude her usual confidence but considering that every nicheling in the clan knew her well she could feel the stares on her pelt. She felt unease prickle across her pelt as her mom made her way over with Sandwing following behind. âWhatâs wrong?â CanaryStar asked as she immediately noticed the odd demeanor her kit was having. âAnd whereâs your mentor?â Sandwing added but despite looking at him Blossompawâs attention was fully focused on the fact she could hear two sets of pawsteps coming over before noticing that both Mossbeetle and Crowpaw seemed to have come to check on her as well. Usually it would warm her heart but at the moment the last thing she wanted was more nichelings around as it made her feel crowded as her mind scrambled for an explanation or cover-up. âI swear if he just left you by yourselfâ Mossbeetleâs annoyed grumbles reached Blossompawâs ears despite the fact that most noise felt far away and fuzzy at the moment. âBlossompaw are you o-â Blossompaw interrupted Sandwingâs words with burst of words. âI KILLED HIM!â The words burst out of her without prompting or time to think as the guilt wrapped around her chest like a tangled patch of thorns. Silence reigned over the surrounding nichelings for enough time to make Blossompaw consider fleeing before Twigstrike spoke. âNo, NO!â The words made Blossompaw shrink on herself at seeing the nicheling she considered an older brother look at her with complete disbelief. âYouâŚyou wouldnât do thatâ Twigstrike said as the other nichelings started reacting to her confession. âNoâŚâ Was all CanaryStar said as she looked at Blossompaw. Thereâs no way her kit would have paws stained with blood right? There had to be a reason or purpose, her kit wouldnât attack her own clanmate for no reason or for fun. CanaryStar looked at her kit begging for an explanation. âI didnât mean to!â Blossompaw yelled before anyone else could speak, wanting a chance to explain the situation. It seemed to work as every nichelings expectant stare fell on her with more weight than she ever wanted to bear. âHe attacked me firstâ She said causing some shock to spread through the crowd, Tigerthorn was cold but he didnât come across as the type to attack his own apprentice. âAnd it was only because he accidentally let it slip that he was the one who killed Daisyfallâ Blossompaw finished explaining causing even more shock at the idea. Daisyfallâs death was never figured out despite many attempts to find the cause. âYouâre not lying to cover yourself?â Mossbeetle asked making CanaryStar scowl at the idea of Mossbeetle accusing her daughter of that. Blossompaw aggressively shook her head and Mossbeetle somewhat relaxed with a nod. âIf what you say is true than it would be self-defenseâ CanaryStar reasoned and none of the nichelings disagreed though it was obvious the actions had somewhat changed their view of Blossompaw. âButâ The word crushed any hope Blossompaw had as she heard her mom speak. âI canât let you off without punishment, so as your punishment you will not be getting your warrior name next sunrise like you were going to, and youâll always have to be watched by someoneâ CanaryStar spoke with a stern tone and Blossompaw was devastated but didnât say a peep as she knew that was nothing for what she did. So she just nodded in response. Blossompaw cautiously lifted her gaze towards Crowpaw as she had been silent the entire time. Crowpaw stared back at the other apprentice before her face shifted to one of discomfort, breaking eye contact and looking off to the side. Blossompaw felt pain crush her a little more at the reaction from the nicheling she was closest to. âCome with meâ Mossbeetleâs words made Blossompaw look at him with confusion. âYour wound will get infectedâ Mossbeetle said as he turned around and started walking towards the medicine den. As if to remind her the bite-mark on her shoulder let out a pulse of pain that made her slightly wince before following after her uncle. The next sunrise the clan was gathered for Crowpawâs naming ceremony. Unfortunately, the usually cheerful occasion was blanketed with an air of unease after the events that had just occurred. Crowpaw wanted to be excited for this event but she couldnât muster the happiness as she looked to her side which was only occupied by air. The spot was supposed to be taken by Blossompaw as the two got their warrior names at the same time like theyâd been planning for moons but now Crowpaw was getting her name alone and it felt wrong. CanaryStar didnât comment on the lack of energy Crowpaw held as she stepped in front of her clanmates. âThis apprentice has trained hard in learning the ways of a warrior so I call upon StarClan to give this apprentice her warrior nameâ The leader began as she looked over the crowd of nichelings that were gathered for the event, trying to ignore the small size of the clan. âBy the power of StarClan I give you your warrior name, from now on you will be known as Crowshade for your hunting capabilitiesâ CanaryStar closed up the ceremony with those words causing the clan nichelings to cheer. Well try to cheer anyway. Of all the nichelings the loudest was both surprising and not as Crowpaw- no Crowshade, looked over and saw Blossompaw who gave her a smile filled with both pride and sadness. Crowshade couldnât bare to look and instead turned her gaze towards her mentor who gave her a sunny smile though it was slightly strained from both stress and the age that had become more obvious with each sunrise. She looked away again and instead focused on CanaryStar until the meeting was over. The lack of a greeting from Sandwing had definitely confused CanaryStar as her deputy had made a habit of greeting her every sunrise, after Mossbeetle of course, so she was a bit confused but brushed it off as getting carried away talking to Mossbeetle but when Twigstrike told her that he hadnât sent him on a hunting patrol she become concerned. âHey Mossbeetle have you- ohâ CanaryStarâs words froze in her throat as she saw her brother blanking staring at Sandwing, who wasnât breathing or showing a single sign of life. âIs heâŚ?â CanaryStar tentatively asked not wanting to assume the worst and hoping she was wrong. âHeâs goneâ Mossbeetleâs words would come across as cold or uncaring to many but CanaryStarâs ears flattened upon hearing her brotherâs statement. She slowly approached Sandwing and looked at him as if hoping he would suddenly crack open an eye and ask whatâs wrong. She couldnât help but feel disappointed when he was as still as he had been since she walked into the medicine den. âIâm so sorryâ CanaryStarâs whisper felt like it would echo in the complete silence of the den. âYou canât stop ageâŚunfortunatelyâ Mossbeetle said with a waver in his tone that made CanaryStar look over at her brotherâs face. She was saddened as she saw tears gathering in his eyes along with the fact he was obviously trying to hold them back. CanaryStar just scooted closer so their shoulders were touching and that small action seemed to break the dam as Mossbeetle let out a sob. He then turned his head and buried his snout into his sisterâs shoulder as he continued to sob with tears soaking CanaryStarâs shoulder. But she didnât mind and wrapped her tail around him to let him know that she was here for him, only being able to imagine the pain he was in. Mossbeetle felt like it wasnât fair. He had only recently gotten to be mates with Sandwing and now StarClan had taken him away. This only further proved to him that he was right in blocking out StarClanâs attempts to give him visions, they only ever hurt nichelings and made stupid rules that did nothing good. Gloominess clung to the nichelingâs like mud as CanaryStar sluggishly clambered onto the rock to make the inevitable announcement. It obviously didnât take long for everyone to hear of Sandwingâs passing and there was no nicheling who wasnât sad considering the size of the clan and Sandwingâs sunny personality. But CanaryStar couldnât delay it. âAs we all know Sandwing has sadly passed, old age comes for all at some point and it was his timeâ CanaryStar started as she looked over the gathered nichelings. âBut the clan must choose a new deputy to ensure the clanâs future isnât one of chaos and confusionâ She continued making most of the nichelings nod in agreement, except for Mossbeetle who wasnât entirely there despite the fact he had come for the meeting. âI say this before the spirit of Sandwing so he can approve of my choice, Twigstrike will be the new deputy of WildClanâ CanaryStar said causing Blossompaw and Crowshade to cheer for Twigstrike even if their hearts werenât entirely in it. Twigstrike knew this was coming but it still felt unexpected as he stood in front of his clanmates, could this even be considered a clan anymore? There were five of them and two were old enough that they could die without warning just like Sandwing had. Twigstrike pushed the thought out of his mind and tried to focus on the present. Noticing the nod Crowshade gave as Blossompaw beamed at him for being chosen. âMeeting dismissedâ CanaryStar said before getting ready to jump off the rock but her paw slipped and she tumbled onto the ground causing two gasps of shock from Crowshade and Blossompaw. Mossbeetle seemed to snap out of his stupor a bit as he rushed to his sisterâs side to check on her. âIâm fine, I just slippedâ CanaryStar said as she stood to her paws. âTake a rest at leastâ CanaryStar considered protesting but seeing the open worry of her brotherâs face gave her pause as she realized that he was probably concerned after losing Sandwing. âFineâ CanaryStar said making Mossbeetle relax as he led her to the medicine den to rest. The other nichelings watched before turning toward each other. They quickly dispersed into two groups, Blossompaw would be watched by Twigstrike while Crowshade went off by herself. The three had been close but now being near each other felt suffocating and awkward. 1

CosmicChaos21 Posted March 14, 2024 Author Posted March 14, 2024 Crowshade slipped into the medicine den to check on Mossbeetle and CanaryStar, feeling a bit worried after CanaryStarâs fumble at the last sunrise. She blinked before squinting at the darkness of the medicine den in the early sunrise while wondering how Mossbeetle could see anything at times like this. Once her vision adjusted she froze, hoping that she was just jumping to conclusions. CanaryStar was laying on the moss nest which wouldnât raise any alarm bells normally but the fact that Mossbeetle was laying somewhat on her with no signs of life caused Crowshade to quickly walk over to the two. She felt any signs of hope vanish as she checked the two for signs of life the way Mossbeetle had taught her as an apprentice. Upon finding nothing she slowly stepped back as she realized she would have to break the news to the other two. She was sure Twigstrike would feel some sadness at least but the thought of telling Blossompaw that her mom and uncle were dead made her feel nauseous, especially considering she was already not doing well after recent events. But she knew she couldnât stall it forever so she took a deep breath before turning around and walking out of the medicine den to inform the other two. = All three nichelings were gathered around the still bodies of CanaryStar and Mossbeetle, looking at them with both similar yet different emotions. Sadness was felt among all of them but their deaths meant something different to every nicheling. Crowshade knew CanaryStar was a great leader but she was more hurt by the death of Mossbeetle. He had taught her so much about herbs and healing to the point he was practically a second mentor to her so the fact she had lost both her mentor-figures was a crushing blow. Twigstrike was sad but he was also grappling with the thought that he was now technically the leader of the clan, though he felt it was barely a clan with only three nichelings, he had known about it for some time now but for the reality to come true was different. He could already feel the responsibility that was suddenly thrust onto his shoulders and he didnât know how to feel about it. Blossompaw wasâŚnot taking it well. At least internally she wasnât. She was trying to not let it show how it was affecting her as the weight of everything started to slowly crush her emotional state, she was already fighting with her grief and guilt over taking a nichelingâs life but now she had to deal with losing her mom and uncle at the same time without any space between. She felt it was unfair, wasnât she dealing with enough? Why did this have to happen? The three nichelings slept in different parts of the camp as they were all hurt but also feeling as if they couldnât lean on each-other even in this difficult situation. A scream jolted Twigstrike awake as he shot up from his nest and bolted out to see what made that noise. The sight of Blossompaw hissing at a large beast greeted him and to his horror he saw blood running down from an injury across her side. Without a moment of hesitation he launched himself at the bearyenaâs back, catching it off guard if the noise it made was any indicator, before sinking his teeth into the back of its neck. The beast roared in pain as it started to shake its pelt to dislodge its attacker. Despite his attempts to keep a hold Twigstrike felt his grip loosen before he flew off to the side. He grit his teeth when his body collided with the ground in an attempt to ignore the pain as he rose to his paws. The commotion had caused Crowshade to come investigate and it only took a few moments for her to understand the situation. Twigstrike ran around the bearyena to confuse it which gave Crowshade a chance to jump on its back. Crowshade wasnât shaken off like Twigstrike as she dug her teeth into the beastâs throat without letting go. the beast thrashed and ended up scratching one of Twigstrikeâs front legs making him jump back with the realization that he had been too close. Crowshadeâs attempts were met with victory when the beast started struggling less and eventually fell to the ground dead. She didnât let go for a few moments just in case before jumping off of the beastâs body. She looked over at Twigstrike before noticing the state Blossompaw was in. But before anything else could be done a growl sounded out that made every nicheling freeze before turning towards the edge of camp, where another bearyena had just stalked out of the grasses, and upon inspection it was easy to tell this one was much healthier due to the lack of showing ribs unlike the last one. âWe canât fight it, not like thisâ Crowshade said as she noticed Twigstrike preparing to attack. âBut wonât it just follow us?â Twigstrike asked as he was locked in a staring contest with the beast across the large clearing. âMaybe, but at least weâd have chance if we ranâ Crowshade said making Twigstrike scowl. âSo weâre just supposed to leave our home to the beast?â He asked with a lashing tail. âIt wonât matter if weâre all dead will it?â Crowshade asked making Twigstrike shut his mouth despite his annoyance. âFine, then how should we stop it from following the scent of blood?â He asked as he kept eye contact with the bearyena as he noticed it had stopped moving for the moment. âMaybe you should lead in the opposite direction, lose it, then follow our scentsâ Crowshade suggested. Twigstrike didnât love the idea but he could tell there wasnât much choice so he nodded. Twigstrike ignored the pain in his front leg as he darted close enough to anger the bearyena before darting away to avoid its claws, giving Crowshade and Blossompaw the chance to run away. He made sure it was following before turning around and running in the opposite direction. He felt his blood rushing through him as the roar of the bearyena sounded behind him along with the sound of thundering pawsteps. Every pawstep almost felt as if it shook the earth beneath him but he forced himself to keep running even as his leg seared with white hot flashes of pain. Every instinct in him was tearing itself apart with the inability to choose between run and fight. It was only after the sound of pawsteps stopped that he allowed himself to slow down, his entire body shaking from the adrenaline that carried him so far as the exhaustion started to seep in. He was tempted to just lay down and rest but he forced himself to find out where he was so he find the scents of his clanmates. It took until almost sun-down to find his clanmates but he was relieved when he did as he immeadiatly collapsed due to the adrenaline running out. Crowshade was relieved when he noticed he was mostly just tired. âThis will stingâ Twigstrikeâs sluggish mind barely processsed the words when stinging pain shot out from his injured leg causing him to instictually try to yank it back but Crowshade held it with a strong enough grip to keep it in place as she finished applying the chewed up healing fruit flowers. Twigstrike scowled a bit but didnât say a word as he knew it would be bad if his injury was infected. âHowâs Blossompaw?â Twigstrike was suddenly struck with the realization that Blossompaw had taken the most damage out of any of them. âShe should be fine, itâll scar but Iâve already applied the necessary herbs to make sure she doesnât dieâ Crowshade easily replied after checking over his injury once more before deciding she was satisfied with it for now. She took a step back before speaking once more. âShe tried to stay up to see you but the blood loss caused her to lose consciousness though thankfully sheâs doing as well as she could be in this situationâ Crowshade finished her explanation before turning around to check on the sleeping Blossompaw. âYou should get some restâ Crowshade said without looking away from Blossompaw. âShouldnât you?â Twigstrike retorted but Crowshade simply shook her head. âIâll rest next sunrise, I need to make sure Blossompawâs condition continues to be stableâ Crowshade said with a stubbornness that made Twigstrike drop it for the moment as he laid his head down and slowly closed his eyes. = â-T AWAY FROM THEM!â The sound of a shout forced Twigstrike to his paws which caused him to wince as he put pressure on his front left leg. He raised his eyes to be met with an unknown nicheling that was in front of Crowshade, who was standing in front of him and Blossompaw protectively. Blossompaw seemed just as dazed as he was, if not more. âWho are you?â Twigstrike asked with a hiss, he may be injured but he was supposed to be the leader and wanted to try and come across as such. âOh! Iâm Speckleheart, I was worried since you three donât seem to be the best of shapeâ The unknown nicheling spoke with a gesture of the paw towards all of them. âWell weâre fine thank youâ Twigstrike snapped making Speckleheart flinch as he realized these nichelings were very on edge. âIâm not trying to trick you or anything, promise! I just thought that maybe my clan could help you considering we have lots of herbs and foodâ Speckleheart offered with a smile as he hoped the three would accept his help. He knows that GoldenStar would be fine with it and as the deputy he was sure he could convince anyone with doubts. âPlease, that sounds like an ambush waiting to happenâ Blossompaw hissed as she rose to her paws despite Crowshadeâs warning glare. âWeâre not that rabill-brainedâ She continued as she puffed up her quills to look bigger. âItâs not! And what would my clan gain from killing a small group of nichelings who are already injured?â Speckleheart reasoned but the words made Twigstrikeâs expression sour. âWeâre not a âgroupâ weâre a clan!â Twigstrike replied making Speckleheart slowly gaze at each of the three nichelings while trying very hard to hide his doubt, how could three nichelings be a clan? But he bit his tongue as he didnât want to irritate them further. âWhat is your clanâs name?â Speckleheart asked with the hope of calming the group at least a little. âWildClanâ Twigstrike answered as he continued to watch the nicheling carefully. âWell WildClan, if you decide you donât like it you can leave but give it a chance please, your injuries look badâ Speckleheart pleaded as he looked at the three. Twigstrike looked at the other two, who stared back, as the three had a silent conversation before he turned his gaze back to Speckleheart. âFine, but if you try something we wonât be an easy fight I assure youâ Twigstrike declared the groupâs agreement making Speckleheart perk up as he realized they had actually agreed. âOh perfect! Follow meâ Speckleheart said as he turned around before starting to walk towards his clanâs camp while making sure to not go too fast for the injured nichelings. 1
CosmicChaos21 Posted March 17, 2024 Author Posted March 17, 2024 Crowshade hated the way every nicheling turned their heads towards the group as she and the other two emerged from the grasses. Most of their gazes were curious but one nicheling, a brown nicheling with darker brown spots, looked at them with disdain. âWho are these three?â A golden-furred nicheling with orange markings and a fluffy tail asked as she looked at Speckleheart, this nicheling spoke with a soft and gentle tone of voice. âTheyâre a clan named WildClan from what theyâve told meâ Speckleheart answered before quickly speaking up again. âTheyâre injured and I was wondering if they could stay at least until theyâre healedâ Speckleheart asked making Twigstrikeâs head snap towards him. He was under the assumption that his clan wouldâve been fine with it but why would he bring unknown nichelings to his clanâs camp if he wasnât entirely sure it would be accepted? âWell of course, the pink one looks like they can barely stand from that injuryâ The golden nicheling spoke as she looked at Blossompaw sympathetically making Blossompaw unsure how to feel. She wanted to come off as strong and capable which wasnât exactly easy when you have such a severe injury. But she tried as she straightened her posture as best she could. âI can stand fine honestlyâ Blossompaw said as gave the nicheling a grin that only seemed to amuse the nicheling. âWell still you three are more than welcome to stay until your injuries heal, welcome to WhisperClanâ The nicheling purred as she gave a gentle smile that almost made Crowshade want to drop her guard. Most of the clan looked fairly unbothered by this announcement but the brown one with darker spots openly scowled in the threeâs direction making Twigstrikeâs fur mildly bristle at the thought of the nicheling being near him and his clanmates while theyâre injured. âWhatâs your name?â Twigstrike asked with a twinge of suspicion as he noted that one nichelingâs reaction before turning his gaze back towards the golden nicheling. âOh how rude of me to not introduce myselfâ The nicheling said with a laugh. âMy name is GoldenStar, who would you three be?â The nicheling asked in return. âIâm Twigstrike, thatâs Crowshadeâ He said nodding towards her âand thatâs Blossompawâ he continued as he nodded towards Blossompaw who was trying to not show how much pain she was in at the moment, she had walked for a bit and her injury was still very fresh. âBlossompaw? But she looks like a fully grown warrior, not to mention you donât seem to have a leader in sightâ The brown nicheling with darker spots spoke making GoldenStar turn towards him with a stern glare. âSparrowtuftâ Her voice was still soft but it held an edge of warning. âYouâre more like a rogue group than a clanâ Sparrowtuft didnât seem to heed the warning as he sneered at the three causing all three of them to bristle. âSparrowtuft! Thatâs no way to treat visitorsâ GoldenStar hissed causing Sparrowtuftâs eyes to widen in shock before a sour expression settled on his face. âWhatever, just donât let them near the prey pile without watching them, they might be prey-stealersâ Sparrowtuft retorted before getting up and walking off. Blossompaw suddenly did not want to be here, sheâd take her chances with the bearyena thank you. âIâm sorry about him, heâs never been good at showing kindness to those outside the clan but he should at least know better than to act like that towards injured nichelingsâ GoldenStar said with some exhaustion seeping into her voice. Twigstrike simply nodded as he went to take a step before his front left leg reminded him of why he was holding it up. âOh right, Lightstream could you make sure these three get the necessary herbs?â GoldenStar asked as she looked over at a white nicheling with red eyes. âMaaaybe I have room for themâ Lightstream said with a grin but specified once she saw the wary expressions of Twigstrike and Crowshade. âIâm joking, follow me you threeâ She said as she rose to her paws before walking towards a den. Blossompaw was the first to start following because she may not trust that Sparrowtuft but Lightstream didnât seem malicious not to mention that at this point her injury was hurting so badly that she just wanted to rest. Crowshade followed next as while she only had minor injuries she wanted to keep an eye on Blossompaw to make sure this medicine nicheling didnât try something. Twigstrike hesitated but quickly caved as he realized thatâs where the other two were going and he didnât want to be alone with a bunch of unknown nichelings. It was quickly and easily decided that Lightstream would check over Blossompaw first due to the severity of her injury. Crowshade kept a very close eye on everything that Lightstream was doing, which mildly unnerved her if she was completely honest, just to make sure she wouldnât try anything. âWell at least it seems someone put something on the wound alreadyâ Lightstream commented as she finished putting the needed herbs on Blossompawâs injury. âI didâ Lightstream resisted the urge to flinch at Crowshadeâs blunt and mildly harsh tone as she instead turned towards Twigstrike. âYour turn now, give me your paw pleaseâ Lightstream said making Twigstrike hesitate before slowly giving her his paw. âThank youâ Lightstream said with a comforting smile that only mildly warded off Twigstrikeâs wariness. âSureâ He replied as to not be completely rude but Lightstream took no offense to it as she considered it from their perspective. Theyâre badly hurt, thereâs only three of them compared to a whole clan, they donât know any of these nichelings, and they have to rely on complete strangers to not harm them while theyâre recovering. âWhich of you are the leader of your clan?â Lightstream tried to make small talk as she applied an herb to Twigstrikeâs injury. âI am, I just havenât gotten the chance to get my livesâ Twigstrike answered with a mildly defensive tone which Lightstream picked up on. âIâm not judging youâ She was quick to reassure as she realized that mightâve come across as rude. âThatâs goodâ Twigstrike replied as he realized he might be coming off as hostile and heâd rather not anger the nichelings that are going to be near him and his clanmates while they sleep. Meanwhile Blossompaw couldnât stop herself from looking around the den that she was now resting in. It was different from the WildClan medicine den. Instead of being dug into the ground this one was above-ground, made of a mixture of woven grass, de-thorns vines, and mud that seems to keep it together making her idly wonder how it stays together when it rains. Then her gaze turned towards the herbs and her eyes shot open in shock. They were a huge mess of different herbs sitting in a massive pile without looking like there was any sense of organization. Sheâs pretty sure Mossbeetle would be caught dead before having such a disorganized mess considering his herbs were always sorted in meticulous piles that he constantly sorted when he wasnât treating a nicheling or gathering more herbs. The reminder of her uncle brought down her mood as it started to truly sink in that sheâd never have him lecture her for getting yet another thorn stuck in her paw or offer comfort in his own way by letting her hide from all the noise of the camp by allowing her to stay in the corner of the medicine den for a while. She drew her paws closer to herself as she blankly stared at the wall, being reminded that while this is a medicine den it isnât THE medicine den she grew up with and had fond memories attached to. It only caused her to feel more out of place here than she already felt. â-ssompaw?â A voice suddenly cut through her thoughts and she turned her head to the side to see a concerned Crowshade laying a tail-length away from her and she noticed that Lightstream was no longer in the den, had she zoned out that long? âYeah?â Blossompaw simply asked as she grinned to look more confident than she felt but Crowshade saw through it with ease. âAre youâŚalright?â Crowshade asked making Blossompawâs grin twitch but she firmly kept it in place as she huffed. âIâm fine! Just need a moment to get used to the new place thatâs allâ Blossompaw replied as she instead focused her gaze on a wall of the den which only made Crowshade doubt it more but she had a feeling Blossompaw wouldnât open up easily especially in a brand new place. âIf youâre sureâ Crowshade decided to drop it for now but she wasnât going to let it go either. Twigstrike overheard the entire conversation considering he was also kinda confined to the medicine den but he didnât comment as he didnât feel it was his place to do so. He focused on watching the entrance of the den instead to check for any signs of danger or hostility from these other nichelings. The next sunrise Twigstrike had, despite Lightstreams protests, left the medicine den to go talk to GoldenStar as his mind had conjured a question he felt he needed the answer to. âGoldenStar?â The leader turned towards Twigstrike upon hearing the nicheling speak. âYes? Are you supposed to be out of the medicine den?â GoldenStar asked as she glanced at his injured leg for a second before returning her gaze towards his face instead. âNoâ He answered her question easily before brushing past that in favor of asking the question that was bothering him. âDo you have a place you go to when you want to talk to StarClan?â Twigstrike asked making GoldenStar tilt her head. âYes, why?â She questioned back as she was curious about why heâd want to know. âIâm the leader but I havenât gotten a chance to get my lives yet because we canât currentlyâŚget to the spot our clan uses to contact themâ Twigstrike spoke carefully as he didnât want to come across as weak to anyone in this clan, he wouldnât want to make him or his clanmates easy targets, though it could be argued they already kind of are considering the injuries. GoldenStarâs expression turned to one of sympathy as she realized it must be more than just a fight with loners or rogues if they couldnât even contact StarClan. âIn that case I could show you where it is laterâ GoldenStar said as she easily agreed. âIs it possible you could show me now?â Twigstrike asked as he didnât really love the responsibility being leader would bring but he would rather have his lives as soon as he could to protect his clanmates from threats. He wasnât entirely sure he could trust these nichelings even if they seemed to be kind for the most part. GoldenStar was a bit surprised by his insistence but she didnât think he had malicious intent so she nodded. âFollow meâ She said making Twigstrike quickly follow after her, unaware that a nicheling from the clan saw it and scowled. = âHere it isâ GoldenStar said as she nodded towards a tidepool near the shore and Twigstrike couldnât stop a confused expression from appearing on his face. âA tidepool?â He asked as he stepped closer to it and looked into it. There was no special quality about it that he could see. âYes, just touch your nose to itâ GoldenStar explained but Twigstrike stared at her skeptically. âYouâre not gonna try to drown me or something right?â He asked making GoldenStar look at him horrified. âOf course not! Do you think so little of me and my clanmates?â GoldenStar asked and Twigstrike resisted the urge to nod as he continued to stare at her. ââŚNo Iâm justâŚbeing cautiousâ Twigstrike responded as he turned towards the tidepool though he kept his ears sharp for any movement from her. GoldenStar was a bit hurt but decides she canât blame him for trying to keep his clanmates safe so she tries to not take offense from it. = He touches his nose to the water and for a moment everything goes dark making panic surge through him before his vision returns and instead of the shore he finds himself standing on clouds with stars idly floating around. âTook a little longer than expected huh?â The familiar voice caused him to whip his head towards the sound and he couldnât stop his surprise from showing as he saw the face of his mentor, though his pelt was now speckled with stars. âDaisyfall!â Twigstrike said as he turned around and bounded toward his mentor until he was only a tail-length away from him. âIâd love to chat but youâre here for your lives Iâm guessing?â Daisyfall asked making Twigstrike slightly deflate as he realized he probably wouldnât have time for idle chit-chat but he nodded. âWell your first life will be for being aware of your clanmates ideas and feelingsâ Daisyfall spoke before touching noses with Twigstrike in a way that reminded him of the sunrise he got apprenticed to him as he felt something strong rush into his body in a way that made him feel as if a strong breeze tried to knock him over. Daisyfall stepped back with a smile before vanishing making Twigstrike feel bittersweet. The next nicheling made him freeze as he had to resist the urge to bare his teeth as he saw the figure of his father Firefang appear before him. âA life for keeping those you love closeâ Firefang spoke as he touched his snout to his kitâs forehead and Twigstrike had to grit his teeth at the almost buzzing feeling this life gave him before Firefang stepped back with a remorseful expression before vanishing. âIâm so proud of youâ The next nicheling made him smile as he saw the familiar brown pelt of his mother Robinbriar, her face was full of affection as she looked at her kit. âI give you a life for keeping those close to you safeâ She said as she rested her head on top of Twigstrikeâs long enough to give him his next life before stepping back with a smile. âI love you momâ Twigstrike whispered making Robinbriarâs smile turn slightly sad but didnât miss a beat. âI love you too my wonderful kitâ She purred before she vanished. The sound of pawsteps behind him startled him into turning around despite the fact he knew he was in StarClan at the moment and therefore safe. He froze as soon as he caught sight of the nicheling that was bounding toward him. âR-redpawâŚâ He whispered as he felt himself tear up at the sight of his sister. She had apparently not aged since she died as the tips of her ears only reached his snout so he had to look down to look her in the eyes. âDonât be sad, we get to see each other again!â Redpaw said with a beaming smile. âAnd Iâm not sick anymore!â She said and that caused Twigstrike to notice she hadnât sniffled or coughed once which made a ghost of a smile appear on his face. âThatâs greatâ He said honestly. âApparently we canât talk much though, so hereâs a life for persevering even through the worst pain and eventsâ Redpaw said as she tried to reach him before Twigstrike realized and put his head down so the two could touch noses before Redpaw stepped back. âWeâll see each other againâ Twigstrike said making Redpaw nod. âHopefully not soon thoughâ Redpaw said which made Twigstrikeâs heart clench painfully but he knew it was for the best, he needed to lead his clanmates especially at a time like this. The other four nichelings appeared along with many he didnât recognize especially the one that spoke. âYouâre aware of the burden youâll carry, that you will have to make the clan your priority correct?â A bright red nicheling with black stripes and a very fluffy tail spoke. âIâm aware, CanaryStar informed me of the leaderâs dutiesâ Twigstrike replied but he quickly piped up with a question. âWho are you though? I donât recognize youâ His question made the red nicheling pause and he wondered if they wouldnât answer in the usual cryptic StarClan fashion. âIâm SquirrelStar, the first leader of WildClanâ Twigstrike was pleasantly surprised to get an answer but he would not be complaining about it. âWith these lives and the promise to prioritize your clan you are now the official leader of WildClan, and with your role your new name TwigStarâ SquirrelStar announced making the other StarClan nichelings cheer his new name. Twigstrike- or TwigStar now he supposed, knew this was coming but getting his official name made the feeling of leadership rest a little heavier on his shoulders but he made a silent vow to keep WildClan alive and give them a better chance to thrive. = TwigStar flinched awake causing a few droplets of water to go flying. âHow did it go?â GoldenStar asked after seeing him âwake upâ from the visit to StarClan. âIâm officially the leader of WildClanâ GoldenStar smiled after hearing the news. âTwigStar now Iâm supposing?â She asked as she stood to her paws. TwigStar simply nodded. âWonderful, though we should probably go back so your clanmates donât worryâ GoldenStar said and TwigStar couldnât disagree so he got up and followed her back to camp. 1
CosmicChaos21 Posted March 20, 2024 Author Posted March 20, 2024 A quarter-moon had passed and the three WildClan nichelings were still heavily cautious and always had one nicheling stay up while the other two slept to ensure their safety despite GoldenStarâs many promises that they wouldnât be harmed. Mudpaw, the medicine nicheling apprentice as the clan had found out, had her ceremony to become a full medicine nicheling which the name Mudvine. Mudvine had been trying to become friends with Crowshade though it was debatable if that was making much of any progress due to Crowshade currently being fairly cold due to the whole situation WildClan was in at the moment. And Sparrowtuftâs sneering and mockery whenever his clanmates werenât looking was not making her feel any more welcome. âCanât you at least tell me your favorite type of prey?â Mudvine pleaded as Crowshade resisted the urge to hiss at the other nicheling giving yet another attempt at befriending her. âRabillâ She answered only because she hoped that Mudvine would leave her be. âOh thatâs cool! Mine is wormsâ Mudvine said causing Crowshadeâs face twist into a grimace. She so badly wanted to express her disgust at the idea of eating worms but she also did not want to risk angering the clan that was sheltering her and her clanmates at the moment so she bite her tongue and said nothing. Mudvine deflated as she didnât hear even a peep from the other nicheling. Was she really that unbearable to deal with that Crowshade wouldnât even give her a small conversation? A tiny twinge of guilt twisted in Crowshade as she watched Mudvineâs posture droop before standing up and walking off. But she didnât move from her spot as she continued to watch Mudvine until the other nicheling vanished from her sight before going back to idly staring at nothing. âI want to go homeâ Blossompawâs ear flicked as she spoke those words and neither of the other WildClan nichelings could disagree with the statement. âI know but weâre not exactly ready to launch ourselves into another fightâ TwigStar replied as he idly glanced around, most of the WhisperClan nichelings were out hunting or patrolling so he had gathered his clanmates to a secluded corner of the medicine den to talk. âAnd weâre stuck hereâ Crowshade grumbled as her paws dug into the ground below her to channel her frustration into something else. âYeah, and the only idea I have is one I really donât likeâ TwigStar sighed but Blossompaw perked up. âWell an idea is better than sitting around and doing nothing foreverâ She said as she looked over at TwigStar while Crowshade looked at him expectantly. âThe only idea I currently have is asking GoldenStar if she and her clan would be willing to help us fight the bearyenaâ TwigStar admitted and he could see the moment that both of the two realized why he didnât want to say anything about his idea. âThen weâd be in their debtâ Crowshade said as she realized that they would have to pay them back somehow. âHow? We donât exactly have much to offerâ Blossompaw piped up as she tried to figure out what they could even give in return. âThatâs kind of the issue, even if I did ask weâd be in their debt until we found something to give up the only thing we have isâŚâ TwigStarâs face soured as he had an idea. âIs?â Blossompaw prompted with a questioning stare. âTerritoryâ TwigStarâs words caused Crowshade to bristle. âNoâ She hissed. âWe might need itâ She continued with a low rumble of irritation at the thought.  âAnd thereâs a bunch of stuff to explore, I doubt weâve taken over the whole islandâ Blossompaw huffed completely agreeing with Crowshade especially on this matter. âBut if we asked weâd need to pay them back with something, waiting would be worse because they could hold it over usâ TwigStar said with mild annoyance, he didnât like it but he didnât want to be stuck in WhisperClanâs camp forever. âOnce weâre healed we could fight them off ourselves!â Blossompaw declared but TwigStar just shook his head. âThereâs more than two, I could smell them when I was leading that one away, thereâs three at leastâ TwigStar said making the two look at him and he realized he forgot to mention that. âSo weâd need more nichelings to help, believe me if I had a choice I wouldnât even suggest itâ He continued making Crowshade grimace while Blossompawâs snout scrunched in irritation but neither of them protested. âMaybe we could justâŚI donât know, hunt food for them and bring it to them as payment instead? Then we wouldnât have to give up our territory and help them in returnâ Blossompaw said. âI mean youâre an amazing hunter TwigStar and if we all work together surely itâll be enough for themâ She rambled a bit out of nerves as she noticed both nichelings were silent. âThatâs perfect!â TwigStarâs sudden exclamation startled Blossompaw into flinching making TwigStar wince before continuing. âThen we could repay our debt without having to worry about it being held over usâ He said as he nodded to himself at the idea. âIâll bring up the idea to GoldenStar laterâ TwigStar announced as he realized he may have a solution to their problem. âThe sooner we get home the betterâ Crowshade said with relief. âI canât wait to sleep in my own nest againâ Blossompaw said with a happy sigh at the thought. Blossompaw couldnât get a wink of sleep so she rose from her nest and carefully stepped outside the medicine den while ignoring the twinge of pain from her side, though thankfully it wasnât as bad as when she and her clanmates first arrived. Her head turned this way and that before slowly making her way to the edge of the clearing. âWhere are you going?â The sudden voice made Blossompawâs ears flatten against her head as her gaze landed on a sandy-furred nicheling with thin white stripes running along her pelt sitting next to the camp entrance. âI just wanted to look at the starsâ Blossompaw answered as she groomed the fur on her shoulder for a bit. âAnd why would you need to leave camp for that?â The nicheling asked questioning glance. âSo I donât wake anyone upâ Blossompaw said with some confusion, wasnât that obvious? âIâll come with you thanâ The other nicheling said as the confused tone led her to believe that Blossompawâs answer could be an excuse. âOkay?â Blossompaw wasnât thrilled at the idea considering this was an attempt to relax that was now being invaded by a nicheling she didnât know. She considered just going back but her legs were restless and the thought of laying down made her internally cringe. = She found a small clearing away from camp that showcased the sky like a prized possession. She slowly walked forward as her gaze was captured by the glittering lights that swam through the inky skies. Relaxing wasnât something she could completely do as she was reminded by the sound of pawsteps taking a step closer to her. âIâm sure youâve heard my name so whatâs yours?â Blossompaw asked as she turned her head towards the nicheling who flinched at the unexpected conversation before answering. âSandstripeâ The nicheling answered as she looked over to stare at Blossompaw with a curious gaze. âSorry if this is rude but you look like a fully grown warrior so why do you still have the paw in your name?â Sandstripe asked completely catching Blossompaw off guard. âOh! Uh that, itâs uh- my warrior ceremony was pushed back due to me not being exactly blessed with hunting skillsâ Blossompaw stumbled a bit before landing on an answer that wasnât entirely a lie. âThatâs unfortunate, Iâm sure youâll get it soonâ Sandstripe replied as she noticed it seemed like a bit of a sore spot for the other nicheling. âYeahâŚI sure hope so, I want to be a capable warriorâ Blossompaw said with a sigh as she returned her eyes to the stars. âI get thatâ Sandstripe said in complete agreement. âYou do?â Blossompawâs gaze was stolen from the stars once more as she turned towards the other nicheling with open curiosity. âYeah, I want to prove to my clan that Iâm worthy of getting the spot of deputy in the future, maybe even leaderâ Sandstripe said before shaking her head. âThe only thing holding me back is my fighting skillsâ She grumbled. âI mean theyâre fine, decent, but I want them to be the best they can be to prove Iâm worthyâ Sandstripe said with a deep breath that she soon let out while Blossompawâs eyes shined with an idea. âWe could train!â The sudden volume caused Sandstripeâs fur to bristle. âEr sorryâ Blossompaw apologized before quickly moving along. âYou said youâre not the best at fighting and Iâm not the best at hunting but Iâd say my fighting skills are my best ones, so maybe I could teach you better fighting moves and you could teach me how to hunt better! Maybe Iâd learn better from someone newâ She rambled in her explanation so it took Sandstripe a bit to catch everything but once she did her face lit up. âAnd we could both boost our weakest skills and prove weâre the best we can be!â Sandstripeâs voice raised a smidgen as her excitement increased at the idea of becoming a perfect warrior. âBut youâre injured and Iâm sure youâll return to your clanâs territory once you doâ Sandstripeâs excitement dampened at the realization. âWe could meet in secret to trainâ Blossompaw suggested with a casualness that Sandstripeâs mind froze at. âWhat if our clans view us as unloyal because weâre meeting with a nicheling of a different clan?â Sandstripeâs ears lowered and she broke eye contact as she spoke. âGoldenStar and Speckleheart donât seem like judgemental nichelings to me, and TwigStar would understand if I explained it to himâ Blossompaw couldnât see an issue with it and it made Sandstripe consider the idea. âIâŚguess youâre right, itâs for the good of our clansâ Sandstripe relented as she realized it couldnât hurt. âExactly!â Blossompaw said with a grin. The two sat in content silence for a while before Sandstripe noticed the sun was just beginning to rise. âMy post! I was supposed to guard the entrance: Sandstripe said with alarm as she shot to her paws. âOh right my clanmates might be a bit worried if Iâm not thereâ Blossompaw got to her paws at her own realization. âGuess we should get backâ She said causing the two to turn around and go where they needed to. Thankfully everyone was still sleeping so there was no uproar due to their absences. 1
CosmicChaos21 Posted April 6, 2024 Author Posted April 6, 2024 ANOTHER UPDATE! With some actual plot-moving stuff instead of just fluff. - The sunlight that would usually make TwigStar feel pleasantly warm felt uncomfortable as he made his way over to GoldenStar, who had just finished talking to Speckleheart. âGoldenStarâ He spoke to get her attention as he stopped a tail-length away from the fluffy nicheling. GoldenStar hummed in acknowledgement before turning her head to see the other leader. âYes?â She asked with a gentle smile. âI was wondering ifâŚâ TwigStar considered not asking but he knew his clan would never get home if he didnât so he pushed through. âI was wondering you and your clan would consider helping us chase out the bearyena that are lurking in our territoryâ GoldenStarâs eyes widened slightly and it was only then TwigStar realized he had never specified the reason WildClan fled from their home. âBearyena are the reason you three fled?â She asked as her face reflected sympathy making TwigStarâs face sour a bit before forcing himself to look neutral again. âUnfortunately we canât fight them off ourselves due to the numver of themâ TwigStar bit down his pride to instead be honest about the situation. âThereâs at least threeâ He added quickly as he wanted GoldenStar to know what her clan would be thrown into. âOf course we would repay you by-â TwigStar tried to continue to tell of Blossompawâs suggestion to pay off the debt but was stopped by GoldenStar interrupting. âWeâll helpâ GoldeStar answered without a shred of hesitation, being unable to just stand by as other nichelings got kicked from their own home. ââŚWell we were thinking we could pay you back by giving you prey for a few moonsâ TwigStar continued but GoldenStar shook her head. âThat wonât be needed, Iâm sure thatâd put strain on your own fresh-kill pileâ GoldenStar refused the idea but TwigStarâs face scrunched in mild annoyance. âWe canât just let such a kind deed go unpaidâ TwigStar insisted. âNot every deed needs to be given something in return, I insistâ GoldenStar said firmly making TwigStarâs tail flick as he tried to think of a way around it. âWell it feels unfair to you and your clanâ TwigStar continued and GoldenStar felt like this was going to be an unwinnable argument. âIf youâre going to insist on something then let be give you an ideaâ GoldenStar said and TwigStar stared as he waited for her next words. âEvery moon we could meet to discuss if any bad situations need help from outside the clan, so if we ever need your clanâs help youâll know about itâ GoldenStar suggested and TwigStar looked away as he considered it. Meeting with a different clan once a moon sounds like another responsibility. But he doesnât want him or his clanmates to be WhisperClanâs debt either. He raised his head and looked into the other leaderâs eyes. âIâll agree to those termsâ TwigStar said and GoldenStar bit back a laugh at the way he tried to sound so formal. âAlrightâ She said in response with a sense of relief that she had gotten him to agree to something that wouldnât put as much strain on his clan. âSoâŚwould you be willing to help us as soon as our injuries are healed enough?â TwigStar asked tentatively, not wanting to push and come across as forceful but he was restless to get back home. âSure, Iâll inform the clan next sunriseâ GoldenStar agreed at the realization that he was probably homesick and from the way his clanmates were acting they werenât thrilled to be in another clanâs camp either. TwigStarâs posture slumped in relief before he saw GoldenStarâs stare and returned himself to a more confident stance. âThank you for your helpâ TwigStar said before turning around and walking towards a small group consisting of Blossompaw and Sandstripe. Crowshade watched from the edge of the clearing as Blossompaw laughed with Sandstripe as they chatted. She felt her fur prickle like it was crawling with termites at how close the two had gotten in the short time WildClan had been here. She shifted the way she laid to turn away from the two at the other end of the clearing to instead stare into the tall grass that bordered the camp. It seems as if Blossompaw spent more time with Sandstripe with each passing sunrise and it made Crowshade nauseous and, if she was honest with herself, agitated. Blossompaw was her friend first and despite her rational mind telling her it isnât true her emotions were telling her she was being replaced. The thought made her feel as if she ate a large helping of bitter medicinal herbs with no water. âAre you alright?â The sudden noise caused Crowshade to jump to her feet with her quills standing on edge with a hiss on her tongue before noticing it wasnât a threat. Standing a tail-length away from her was Mudvine, who sported a concerned expression as she looked at her. âIâm fineâ Crowshade said as she forced her quills into a relaxed position once more and sat on her haunches. âAre you sure? You looked a bitâŚangryâ Mudvine considered if that was the right word but decided it was close enough. âI want to leave this campâ Crowshade half-lied, she did want to go home but that wasnât the reason she was bitter at the moment. âWell Iâm sure youâll be able to soonâ Mudvine said though she didnât entirely believe that was the whole reason. âCan IâŚask why you refuse to socialize with anyone other than your clanmates?â Mudvine tentatively spoke. âThereâs no pointâ Crowshade retorted while resisting the urge to glance over at Blossompaw and Sandstripe. âWhy?â Mudvine asked with some confusion. âWeâll leave soon and never meet againâ Crowshade plainly responded as she felt there was no point getting attached to nichelingâs sheâd never interact with again. âOhâŚâ Mudvine said as the realization struck her. Mudvine opened her mouth to ask another question but the annoyed glance Crowshade shot her made her shut it again and instead turn around to go back to the medicine den with a feeling of sadness at the complete failure to converse with Crowshade. Nichelings from WhisperClan and WildClan gathered into the clearing after Speckleheart had told the various nichelings news of a clan meeting. Many nichelings were bleary eyed because it was quite early but all of them situated themselves under the tall rock. âIâve called a clan meeting because me and TwigStar have made an agreementâ GoldenStarâs words caused many eyes to focus on the WildClan leader, though none made him more uncomfortable than the stares of his clanmates as the night had given him time to realize that he forgot to consult his clanmates about such a decision. He didnât dare look away from GoldenStar as a way to avoid their questions. âBearyena had driven them from their home-â TwigStar flinched, he hadnât allowed her to share that! What if these other nichelings thought they were weak now?! Blossompawâs ears lowered for a few moments before she forced herself to look more composed. TwigStar wouldnât allow others to know that info so freely. Crowshade didnât say anything but her flattened ears were answer enough to all the nichelings of the meeting. â-so weâve made a plan that WhisperClan will help them drive them off due to there being more than oneâ GoldenStar couldnât continue as a nicheling spoke up. âWeâre risking our lives for a bunch of strangers, who just showed up and apparently claimed to have been chased off by bearyena?â Sparrowtuft exclaimed in fury. âThis could be an ambush for all we know!â He spat as he heard that, what if his clanmates got hurt or killed because of these supposed clan nichelings? Blossompaw bristled the quickest and she verbally bit back before anyone could say anything. âWhat do you think we are, rogues?!â Blossompaw hissed only causing Sparrowtuft to bristle further. âMaybe! I mean what kinda clan has three nichelings!â Sparrowtuft took a step towards Blossompaw that she copied with her quills standing straight up as she bared her teeth at the other nicheling. âThatâs enoughâ GoldenStarâs voice retained its softness but held enough authority to stop the two from arguing. âYou two are acting like kitsâ GoldenStar said with a scolding tone that made Blossompaw look away while Sparrowtuft scowled but he respected GoldenStar enough to stay quiet. âI understand your concern for your clanmates but accusing WildClan of being rogues is unnecessaryâ GoldenStarâs words made Sparrowtuft lower his head. âSorry GoldenStarâ He mumbled out. âAs I was sayingâ GoldenStar took a deep breath before calmly continuing. âWeâve also agreed that every moon the two clans will meet to discuss any important news so that our clans have the opportunity to help each other if either clan is in dire need of helpâ Blossompaw openly stared at TwigStar in confusion while Crowshade kept her eyes on GoldenStar and refused to look over though anyone who knew her could tell she was annoyed. Whispers also rippled through the clan, Sparrowtuft was extremely agitated but wasnât rabill-brained enough to voice his protests. âWhen uh, when are we gonna help fight the bearyena GoldenStar?â The current only apprentice of the clan, Flamepaw, piped up with a bit of shakiness to his tone due to not wanting to be rude. GoldenStar gave the apprentice a gentle smile as she knew the young nicheling was respectful almost to a fault and wanted to ease his nerves a little. âOnce Blossompawâs injuries are fully healed, do you have any idea when that would be?â GoldenStar turned her question towards Lightstream and Mudvine. âSheâll be good to go in a few sunrisesâ Lightstream answered while Mudvine nodded her agreement to her mentorâs assessment. âPerfect, so a few sunrises thanâ Flamepaw just nodded at the leaderâs words. âSo everyone should get a lot of rest and food in preparation of the upcoming battleâ GoldenStar spoke with a commanding tone. âThatâs all, meeting dismissedâ GoldenStar said before jumping down from the rock as nichelings began to discuss the news while splitting into their own groups. âYou didnât think to talk to us about it first?â Crowshade said with agitation after the three had gone into a secluded area of the territory. âWell I couldnât just say âoh give me a little bit to ask my clanmatesâ when me and GoldenStar were talking could I?â TwigStar snipped back, just as annoyed. âYou probably couldâveâ Crowshade said as she knows by now that GoldenStar doesnât seem like the type to be annoyed easily. Blossompawâs eyes flicked back and forth between the two as they argued. âWell he probably just wanted to make sure we got to go home fasterâ Blossompaw reasoned making Crowshade turn towards her but she couldnât really keep a glare when she was looking at her so she sighed. âI guess but it wouldâve been better if we did what we plannedâ Crowshade relented a little. âI tried to offer that but she refused to accept it so I had to compromise because she was trying to insist they help us without any repaymentâ TwigStar said with a glance towards the side.ââŚI guess itâs fine thanâ Crowshade completely relented as she realized that did sound like something GoldenStar would do from what little she knew of her. âI wish I could be healed now so we can go home right now!â Blossompaw grumbled as she turned her head to look at the three long clawmarks along the left side of her torso. âWell as much as Iâd like to leave itâd be worse if you didnât heal completely and reopened the wound while weâre fightingâ TwigStar said as he too glanced at the scar before looking towards the tall grass. âI knowâ Blossompaw sighed in reluctant agreement though it did nothing to ease the antsy feeling in her chest. 1
CosmicChaos21 Posted April 8, 2024 Author Posted April 8, 2024 Hello WildClan readers, enjoy a small teaser of the upcoming update with zero context! 1
CosmicChaos21 Posted May 23, 2024 Author Posted May 23, 2024 (IT'S TIME FOR THE PLOT WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR EVERYONE! Enjoy the like 2,000 word update I had so much fun writing it-) - Blossompaw was eating a rabill at the edge of the clearing when the sound of pawsteps caught her attention, causing her to look up from her meal and see the deputy approaching. Speckleheart went from a trot to an idle walk as he got closer to the quilled nicheling.  âIs something wrong?â Blossompaw asked as she stood to her paws making Speckleheart quickly shake his head. âNo nothingâs wrong! I was just wondering if you wanted to chatâ Blossompaw slightly tilted her head in curiosity at the deputyâs question. âI mean sure?â She said as she tried to figure out if there was a reason beyond a casual chat for something like this but Speckleheartâs voice broke her out of her thoughts. âWhatâs your territory like? Is it different from ours?â The deputy asked with a friendly smile. âNot really? I mean thereâs more stumps but thatâs about the only difference Iâve noticedâ Blossompaw said after considering the question. âIs there anything interesting about your territory that I havenât noticed?â She sent a question right back at Speckleheart making him think.  âWell I mean maybe youâve noticed but we donât really clear away that much grass, only whatâs needed because it can provide good cover from things like those birdsâ Speckleheart gestured his paws towards the things he was talking about which caught Blossompawâs attention. âYou gesture with your paws a lotâ It was an idle observation but it seemed Speckleheart didnât take it that way as his paws stilled before he put them back on the ground with a nervous laugh. âYeah itâs a bit silly huh?â He said it in joking way but the way he darted his eyes towards the side proved it was a bit of a soft spot to him.  âNo I didnât mean it like that!â Blossompaw rushed to clarify as she realized how it mightâve come off. âI was just saying, I mean I pace a lot to think betterâ She tried to explain and it seemed to ease the deputyâs worries as his ears came back up from the lowered position they took after her observation. âI guess I have seen you pace quite a bitâ Speckleheart said with a sense of relief, no one judged him for his habit but his emotions tried to tell him that they secretly did even if it wasnât logical. âExactly! But you were saying something about not really clearing the grasses? I think?â Blossompaw tried to recall if that was the last topic of conversation.  âOh right! Yeah itâs good cover from birds but it can be good to deal with bearyena too, they canât attack you as easily if they canât see youâ Speckleheart continued and the two spent some time chatting about WhisperClanâs territory. The sunrise had come. It had been a few sunrises so Blossompaw got the go-ahead which meant it was time to fight the bearyena that were prowling WildClanâs home. WhisperClan camp was buzzing with energy as everyone prepared for the upcoming battle, well almost everyone. It was decided that Flamepaw and Mudvine were staying with Sunkit to make sure the kit wouldnât get hurt or be unsupervised while the battle was fought.  âI canât believe itâs time for you guys to leave alreadyâ Lightstream said through a bundle of herbs, her and Mudvine had spent the night making many herb bundles so herbs would be on-paw when the clan nichelingâs battled the bearyena, though Lightstream would be going as well to have a medicine nicheling ready for any potential injuries. âAlready?â TwigStar said with confusion as he glanced at the medicine nicheling. âWeâve been here far too longâ He said as he went back to helping the medicine nicheling carry herbs. âI guess it would be for you, but for me I feel your clan has only been here a few sunrisesâ Lightstream said causing TwigStar to simply let out a hum of acknowledgment.  Lightstream glanced at TwigStar out of the corner of her eye whenever he wasnât looking as she tried to figure out what to do. Her words were truly how she felt but there was further reason. In the WildClan nichelings time here she had found them all to be interesting but TwigStar was the one she found herself drawn to the most. Something about the way he always tried to be formal and composed was almostâŚcute to her. It was obvious that he wasnât very experienced in the whole leadership thing but he was obviously trying and youâd have to be blind to miss how much he cares for his clanmates, doing whatever he can to keep them safe and healthy at any cost.  âWeâre hereâ TwigStarâs voice snapped Lightstream out of her head and she felt a bit of warmth in her pelt at the fact she was lost in her daydreams at a time like this. Speckleheart, Sparrowtuft, Sandstripe. and GoldenStar looked over at the two approaching nichelings with mixed expressions. GoldenStar and Speckleheartâs expressions were warm and welcoming while Sparrowtuft looked like he wanted to make them vanish on the spot. Lightstream wished Sparrowtuft would give the WildClan nichelings a chance but she also knew he was trying to look out for his clanmates in his own way.  Seeing Speckleheart made her nervous though, not due to he himself but because of a dream she had the night before. âGold will dull and a heart will be speckled with bloodâ Was what a nicheling said, though she couldnât recognize the nicheling in her dream as any ancestor that she knew. The nichelingâs sandy fur and darker brown mane reminded her of no nicheling she had ever known or been told about which made her question the idea of it being a vision. Surely if it was a vision one of her ancestors wouldâve been the one to deliver it. That doesnât stop her stomach from twisting at the idea of Speckleheart getting hurt, heâs a good deputy and amazing friend to all his clanmates.  Shaking herself out of her thoughts, she instead focused on listening to the battle plan because while she may not be fighting it would be good to know what to expect. It was chaos. Crowshade felt almost dizzy from everything going on as she tried her best to focus on fighting a single bearyena at once, turning around and sticking her quills up just in time for a bearyena to try and bite her, leaving the beast with a face full of spines instead.   !!!BLOOD WARNING!!!  She took the chance to run around and jump on its back before biting it in the back of the throat, tasting the tang of blood on her tongue as the beast thrashed in an attempt to shake her off but her jaws held tight as another nicheling jumped up to help. The bearyena quickly succumbed from two nichelings going after its throat. !!!END OF BLOOD WARNING!!!    The nicheling was obvious now as she saw the light yellow fur with dark brown spots. âThanksâ Crowshade said to Speckleheart before focusing on a different bearyena which TwigStar seemed to be trying to fight alone as Speckleheart went to help a different nicheling.  Speckleheart couldnât help Crowshade once he noticed Blossompaw trying to take on a bearyena with no help so he changed his course to help the bristling pink nicheling. Blossompawâs head whipped over to a sound of pawsteps but she refocused on fighting when she realized it was just Speckleheart. The two took turns nipping at the bearyena then jumping back to prevent any injuries. But while trying to jump back Blossompaw stumbled after being startled by the bearyenaâs attempt to bite at her and the bearyena quickly went to take a bite at the fallen nicheling.   !!!BLOOD WARNING AND WHILE NO GORE IS MENTIONED THERE IS A DEATH!!!  Speckleheart felt time almost freeze as he saw the bearyena and he did the first thing that came to mind. He jumped in front of Blossompaw, leaving himself open to the bearyenaâs jaws which ended up letting the bearyena bite into the deputyâs side. A sickening snap caught the attention of the other nichelings, which had chased away all the other bearyena.  The bearyena rose to its paws with Speckleheartâs now limp body hanging from its jaws.  !!!END OF WARNING!!!   âHOW DARE YOU!â Sparrowtuft snarled as he launched himself at the bearyena. Instead of fighting the bearyena turned around and ran into the grasses, because of fear or because it had a meal the nichelings had no clue but now all the bearyena were gone leaving a mostly silent clearing. Without the battle frenzy the clan nichelings took more stock of their surroundings and all the WhisperClan nichelings suddenly ran over to Lightstream.  GoldenStar was laying on the ground lifeless. âSheâs going to be on her last life nowâŚâ Lightstream said, she tried her best but she couldnât do anything to prevent the leader from losing her second-to-last life so now the WhisperClan leader would have a single life left. Sparrowtuft suddenly spun on his paws to snarl at the WildClan nichelings.  âThis is your fault!â The WildClan nichelings tensed at Sparrowtuftâs words as the WhisperClan nicheling stalked toward them with hostility radiating off him. âIf we didnât help your pathetic clan GoldenStar would have 2 lives and Speckleheart would be alive!â Blossompaw bristled though Crowshadeâs quills stood up as Sparrowtuft spoke. âSparrowtuft please-â Lightstreamâs attempts to deescalate the situation were ignored as the enraged WhisperClan nicheling continued. âNO! These three have brought nothing but trouble and misery to WhisperClan, if we got rid of them weâd be free of these problemsâ Sparrowtuft said as he stalked closer to them causing even TwigStar to tense in preparation for a fight but Sandstripe stepped between the WildClan nichelings and her clanmate,  âAnd then Speckleheart wouldâve died for nothingâ The words froze Sparrowtuft in his tracks. âIf you killed the nichelings he died to protect than what would be the point?â Sandstripeâs words made Sparrowtuft bared his teeth and squeeze his eyes shut before he let out a sigh. His eyes opened once more but instead of anger they were filled with sadness. âHe didnât deserve to dieâ Sparrowtuftâs words wavered in a way the WildClan nichelings thought was impossible. TwigStar felt a twinge of sympathy despite the other nichelingâs harsh attitude, he could see how Sparrowtuft wasnât as heartless as his mind had convinced him he would be. Sparrowtuft cared for his clanmates, and TwigStar realized there might be more similarities between him and Sparrowtuft than he thought,  âI knowâ Sandstripe couldnât offer anything to make everything better after something like this so she didnât try. âHe deserved to become SpeckleStar and now heâll never have that chanceâ Sparrowtuftâs voice was extremely unstable and his eyes were rimmed with water that he tried to blink away but that only let a tear roll down his cheek. Sandstripe walked forward and rested her head on his shoulder causing him to sob and bury his head in the sandy nichelingâs shoulder while the rest of WhisperClan looked on with sadness.  Crowshade felt fairly uncomfortable at such a strong show of emotions, not only did she not really know how to deal with crying from her clanmates but the fact the nicheling was both outside her clan and one that had previously insulted her clan and clanmates made it worse so she just shifted uncomfortably on her paws. The other two werenât too much better as TwigStar stood very stiffly and awkwardly while Blossompaw had averted her eyes to her paws instead.  After a little bit Sparrowtuft seemed to realize the WildClan nichelings were there and dried his eyes with a paw before turning around and walking over to Lightstream. âWe should get GoldenStar back home before she wakes upâ His voice was a bit wobbly still as he spoke. âProbably, could you help me carry her?â Lightstream offered as a way for him to help and as a distraction which Sparrowtuft easily took with a nod. The two worked together to lift up their leader before walking in the direction of their camp. âWeâll be okayâ Sandstripe lagged behind her clanmates to speak to the WildClan nichelings before stalking off into the grass herself, leaving the three sitting there a bit awkwardly.  âWe have a lot of work to doâ TwigStar said with a sigh after some silence as he took stock of the camp. Grass was scattered everywhere, the dens were completely destroyed, the herbs had to have gone bad by now, the prey pile was filled with rotting rabills, and moss from the nests were covering the camp like a storm had come through. 1

I'm kinda starting to like Sparrowtuft to be honest. Anyway cool update, can't wait for more! :D. HFGHF I unfortunately had to kill Speckleheart for the plot to actually work as I needed it to- With WhisperClan we won't switch between the clans but WhisperClan won't just vanish, I set up the gathering type thing to make sure that they would have relevancy and reason to appear in the playthrough at least from time to time! I'm really happy you like Sparrowtuft! I realize he may come across as harsh or unnecessarily rude, but he isn't trying to start fights for fun, he's just very loyal to and protective of his clan and clanmates. (Since we probably won't see the day-to-day interactions of WhisperClan I'll just say that he actually tends to be quite the softie around his clanmates though he'll never admit it) 1
CosmicChaos21 Posted July 3, 2024 Author Posted July 3, 2024 An actual update for WildClan at last! Hopefully the wait was worth it! - TwigStar felt the first thing he should do before they begin camp clean-up was something he felt was deserved and long overdue. He climbed on top of the rock that CanaryStar always had, struggling a little to find his balance on the uneven rock, before standing tall above his two clanmates. âBlossompawâ Said nicheling looked at him in confusion as she wondered what this whole thing was about. âDo youâŚdo you promise to uphold the warrior code and protect your clan even if it costs you your life?â Blossompaw stared in shock as TwigStar fought to recall the words CanaryStar spoke for the warrior ceremonies. âI do!â Blossompaw exclaimed perhaps a bit louder than needed, causing TwigStar to nod. âThan by the power of StarClan you will be known asâŚâ Crowshade looked with a mixture of amusement and sympathy as TwigStar felt embarrassment prickle his pelt. He thought StarClan just told the leader what to name the warriors, whatâs the point of saying âby the power of StarClanâ if you come up with the names yourself? âYou will now be known as Blossomstorm for your energy and strengthâ TwigStar tried to brush past his embarrassment as the perfect name came to him. âYES I FINALLY HAVE MY WARRIOR NAME!â The other two nichelings ears flattened at the sheer volume of Blossompawâs exclamation making her sheepishly shrink in on herself. âUh whoopsâ Now Blossomstorm said as she gave a bashful grin causing the other two to brighten up with snickers. TwigStar carefully got off the rock, almost slipping a time or two, before shaking his pelt. âNow weâve got to actually clean upâŚthatâ He vaguely gestured towards the mess of a camp making Blossomstorm scrunch her face with a huff. âCanât I just relax and bask in the glory of my new name?â She asked with a beaming grin to try and get out of the chore. âItâs that or you do a silent vigil for the whole nightâ TwigStarâs grin was more mischievous as the newly named warrior scowled. âFineâ Blossomstorm grumbled but went along with the other two to help clean up their home. Blossomstorm was on the search for moss to restock the medicine den after Crowshade mentioned not having the time to get it herself due to trying to gather life-saving herbs first so Blossomstorm decided to help. She felt as if sheâd never find it considering her lack of luck finding a single patch when something caught her eyes. A rock with moss covering it like a soft blanket made her quickly dart over. âFinallyâ She said to herself as she put her right paw to work in using the sharp claws to rip the moss off of itâs home, though some of it was stubborn she refused to give up until she took every single scrap of moss. Then she remembered she was supposed to leave some so she took some and haphazardly slapped it back on top of the rock with the hope it would grow more. âWhat do you need all that moss for?â Blossomstorm didnât even realize she had jumped until her paws hit the ground again, feeling the dew from the grass sink into her fur. A dark yellow nicheling with darker red markings stared at her with open curiosity. Blossomstorm noticed the nicheling had fins jutting out from their shoulders but the thing that caught her attention the most was the fact that the nichelingâs right paw had some sort of webbing between each toe. If the nicheling noticed her staring they didnât comment on it and instead seemed to be waiting for an answer. âI need it to make nests for my clanmatesâ Not a lie but not the truth either as Blossomstorm would love another friend but also didnât want to put her trust in a random nicheling that she didnât even know the name of yet. âWhatâs your name anyways?â Her thoughts led her to asking the all important question. âOh! Iâm Sap, nice to meet youâ The nicheling spoke with a beaming smile. âIâve heard of clan nichelings but Iâve never gotten the chance to meet one, do you guys actually have a permanent leader?â Sap spoke as he continued to stare with such an easy-to-read expression that it made Blossomstorm need a few moments to process everything. âWe do have a permanent leader, why?â Blossomstorm asked with a slight tilt of the head. âLoners always said clan nichelings do but you never know whatâs real and what's a weird rumorâ Sap said as he continued to stare. âOkay but uh could you stop staring so much?â Blossomstorm asked as the constant attempts of eye contact made her extremely uncomfortable but Sap seemed a bit embarrassed. âOh uh right, sorry about that, Iâve been told I stare too muchâ Sap moved his gaze over to the grass beside him instead though he had to fight the urge to start staring again. âRightâ Blossomstormâs response was awkward and a bit clunky as she tried to figure out what to say next before an idea struck her. âOh! Maybe you could see if you wanna join my clanâ She suggested as she realized this could be a chance to make their clan a bit stronger in numbers considering the whole bearyena thing. Sapâs ears shot up and he looked at her with a bit of shock. âReally? Well Iâve always wanted to see what itâs like being in a clan so what better way than joining oneâ He agreed making Blossomstorm internally give a sigh of relief at the fact that it actually worked. âMy nameâs Blossomstorm by the wayâ She suddenly spoke at the two started walking as she realized she never told Sap. âSeems fittingâ Sap commented as he followed her. - Blossomstorm and Sap pushed into camp as their jaws were laden with moss, Sap had offered to help hold the moss because âitâs only fair if Iâm going to be joining the clanâ. TwigStarâs ear twitched at the sound of pawsteps and he turned around with a smile and a greeting on the tip of his tongue before noticing the new nicheling. âAnd who is this?â TwigStar directed the question towards Blossomstorm though his gaze remained pinned on Sap. âThis is Sap, he wanted to join the clan and he seems nice enoughâ Blossomstorm explained after setting the moss she was holding onto the ground. âI seeâŚâ TwigStar approached the new nicheling with an air of suspicion as he circled Sap, who didnât seem alarmed or bothered in the slightest and instead gave his own introduction. âIâve heard a lot about clans but most donât seem interested in having a loner join them but Iâm curious about clan-life, what better way to see what itâs like than to join a clan?â Sap spoke as TwigStar stopped his inspection to stand in front of him. âIs that all you see it as? A fun time that you can drop whenever you wish?â TwigStar asked with narrowed eyes causing Sap to quickly clarify. âOh I didnât mean to imply that!â He spoke with a paw held up in surrender. âI simply meant that your way of life seems fascinating and I want to learn more about it while also finding a place to belongâ Sap continued as he carefully put his paw back down while TwigStar eyed him silently. âFineâ Sapâs ears shot up in surprise at the acceptance. âBut if you treat this like a game you will regret itâ TwigStar warned with a piercing stare towards the now former loner. âGot itâ Sap agreed right after the leader spoke to try and not irritate him. TwigStarâs posture loosened upon hearing the now former lonerâs confirmation. âIâve also heard that loners have to change their names when they join a clan, do I have to do that? I like my nameâ Sap asked after a few moments to give TwigStar a chance to think about it. âYou only really add something extra to the name usually but if youâre that attached to your name as is than you can keep itâ TwigStar replied as he glanced at Sap before mindlessly scanning the area. âOh thatâs a reliefâ Sap breathed a small sigh of relief. âWeâre cleaning up the camp still, if you could help move the branches from in front of the nurseryâ Twigstar used his head to nod in the direction of the nursery, which was still a mess because there was no kits and therefore no rush to clean it before, before continuing âitâd be quite helpfulâ He finished his sentence making Sap nod as he looked towards the messy area. âI can do thatâ Sap said before walking towards the nursery and immediately beginning to move branches. âWhy did you invite a random nicheling to join the clan?â TwigStar whispered only after taking Blossomstorm over to the corner of camp opposite from Sap. âWell he doesnât exactly seem evil, besides now weâd have more members so weâd look more like a clanâ Blossomstorm said with a huff. âIs that because of what Sparrowtuft said?â TwigStar asked as he remembered Sparrowtuft implying that WildClan was a band of rogues instead of a real clan. The silence was answer enough for the leader. âWe can still be a clan with only three members, but since youâve invited this new nicheling into the clan I guess weâll give him a chance and see if heâs fit for the life of a warriorâ TwigStar spoke with a note of resigned acceptance at the potential of a new clan member.  TwigStar needed a moment to think as he mulled over Sap and his personality. He was obviously not malicious yet he lacked a sense of good balance, knocking over branches and herbs without meaning to, but he also seems far too trusting of nichelings heâd just met a few sunrises ago. The sharp scent froze the leader in his tracks as he worked on swiftly figuring the smell that swirled his nose. Blood and rabill meat, the sign of a fresh kill. He turned his snout this way and that to find the direction of the scent before stalking through the grasses toward it. He felt his fur raise at the idea of something dangerous prowling the shadows of WildClanâs territory after only just winning their home back. But he felt it was better this way as he had lives to loose, Blossomstorm and Crowshade didnât have such a luxury so involving them could be a grave mistake and didnât want his early leadership to include the death of his closest clanmates and the last links of his more peaceful apprenticehood. Every paw was placed with the utmost care to ensure he didnât alert whatever had hunted a rabill on the territory. He finally came close enough to peek at the source of the fresh-kill and he readied his muscles for a life-or-death fight as he leaped at the threat. âŚOnly to get a yelp of surprise as the nicheling he had pounced on tried to shake him off. Though he didnât loosen his grip as he reasoned that the nicheling had hunted WildClanâs food when the clan needed every piece of prey it could get while rebuilding the clan from the ground up. âWhat are you attacking me for?!â The nicheling exclaimed as they continued to try shaking TwigStar from their back. TwigStar was suddenly launched from the nichelingâs back as they continued to shake in an attempt to dislodge the clan nicheling. The two breath heavily as they stare at each other with distrust, though differing levels and for different reasons. âYou were hunting on WildClan territoryâ TwigStar suddenly answered the nichelingâs earlier question causing the other nicheling to just narrow their eyes. âWell so-rry for trying to not starve to deathâ The nichelingâs tone was sharp andâŚhurt? TwigStar shook off his confusion to keep up the tough appearance. âI need to keep MY clan fed and I canât have random nichelings taking our foodâ TwigStarâs fur felt uncomfortably stiff as it continued to stay bristled. The nicheling scoffed âYouâve probably got a bunch of nichelings to find food but Iâve only got myselfâ they spoke with their wing scraping against the dirt which only further agitated TwigStar. âYeah, you only have to feed yourself, Iâm sure you could find food elsewhereâ The nichelingâs face further soured at the leaderâs words. âTake the dumb thing than, this isnât worth the effortâ The nicheling scoffed as they turned on their paws and stalked off leaving TwigStar bristled and a bit confused. He wondered if he was a bit too harsh as he stared at the half-eaten rabbit the loner left behind. He shook his head to physically dislodge the thought as he reasoned that he needed to make sure WildClan was well felt and protected, if he let one loner hunt in the territory then maybe more would and they may just think the clan is pushovers. The idea of loners or rogues invading the camp and leaving his clanmates injured or worse made him sick enough to shake off the remorse that was sticking to him. He turned around and went back to camp, deciding he had been out of camp long enough.

Yeah the clan is slowly getting their bearings again and TwigStar DOES have paranoia about potential threats now- He ain't doing great at the moment- Thank you! I agree, and the suffix of -storm I feel kinda fits Blossomstorm's impulsive nature :3 1
CosmicChaos21 Posted July 31, 2024 Author Posted July 31, 2024 Blossomstorm walked towards the camp entrance where Crowshade was sitting guard with the stars twinkling above. âWhere are you going?â Crowshade asked as the other nicheling started walking through the entrance making her pause her movement. âIâm going on a walk so I can actually sleepâ Blossomstorm felt guilt creep into her conscience as the lie slipped through her teeth without much thought, Sandstripeâs worry of meeting had swirled in her mind long enough to sow a seed of doubt in her mind. âOh, just be careful pleaseâ Crowshade said with a note of concern considering the recent danger but she doubted Blossomstorm would actually heed her advice. âI will!â A genuine smile grew on Blossomstormâs face before she turned toward the grasses and made her way toward the WhisperClan border, or at least where she thought she remembered it being. - It took a bit longer than sheâd like to admit but Blossomstorm found the border of the territory if the strong scent was any indicator. She was wondering if Sandstripe had flaked when the sandy-furred nicheling appeared out of the grasses looking a little embarrassed as she walked to stand a few tail lengths in front of Blossomstorm. âSorry, I needed to make sure Sparrowtuft didnât wake up when I left the warriors den and heâs a light sleeperâ Sandstripe apologized as she gave a nervous smile. âItâs fine, I got a bit lost and ended up taking a bit to find the right placeâ Blossomstorm shared to try and dispel any embarrassment which seemed to work as Sandstripeâs demeanor brightened. âOh well guess weâre both having issuesâ Sandstripe said with a snicker bringing a smile to Blossomstormâs face. âDid you get to be deputy?â The question fell from Blossomstormâs mouth before she her brain caught up and she realized that was probably extremely rude when Sandstripe slightly flinched with a shocked expression. Sandstripe took a few seconds to recover from the shock that question hit her with to think of an answer. âAh wellâŚnoâ Sandstripe said with her smile taking a more nervous edge again as she looked off to the side. âOh uh sorry but can I askâŚ.why?â Blossomstorm wasnât sure if that was considered rude but she didnât understand why GoldenStar wouldnât choose someone like Sandstripe, sheâs ambitious but doesnât seem malicious. âWell Sparrowtuft is more experienced and Flamepaw is his second apprentice so she thought he would be the best choiceâ Sandstripe said only further confusing Blossomstorm. âBut she has to notice how hostile he can be, surely thatâs not a good choice for future leader?â Blossomstorm did feel bad when Sparrowtuft lost a clanmate and had to see his leader lose a life but the idea of him being leader while hating her and her clanmates guts seems like a potential disaster. âYeah I knowâŚbut thatâs what she chose soâ Sandstripe kept her eyes to the side as she said this. âWell do you still wanna train your fighting skills?â Blossomstorm asked as she forced herself to swallow asking anymore questions though it was a bit tough. âWell yeah, maybe I still have a chance at deputy someday though I doubt itâ Sandstripe put some optimism in her tone as she turned her head to look at the other nicheling. âThatâs the spirit! Maybe youâll have a chance if you prove yourself to be the bestest member of the clanâ Blossomstorm beamed at the fact she didnât come out here for nothing. âSo first of all why donât we do a test battle first to see what youâre lacking?â Blossomstorm suggested which Sandstripe answered with a nod. âGreat! So anywaysâ Blossomstorm suddenly launched herself at Sandstripe, quickly bowling her over though Sandstripe recovered quickly as she swiped at Blossomstormâs face to make her flinch. Sandstripe took the chance to stand to her paws and create some distance between the two. The two slowly circled each other while looking for weak points or a good chance to strike. Blossomstormâs patience was running thing far quicker than Sandstripe so she suddenly charged at Sandstripe which threw the other nicheling off at the suddenness of it. Blossomstorm used her back legs to jump up in preparation for a pounce which Sandstripe scrambled to dodge but was knocked over by Blossomstorm as she didnât move far enough. Blossomstorm ended up hovering over Sandstripe while the other nicheling was on her back. Blossomstormâs joy at winning was quickly washed away as the position reminded her of her former mentor, or the last of their interactions. She suddenly froze as the scent of blood reached her nose. Her paws and muzzle felt sticky with blood and her paws seemed to be colored a rusty red now. Seeing Sandstripeâs exposed neck made her feel as if something was whispering to her to âjust do it again, not like youâve never killedâ. The thoughts swirled around her head and she felt so sick at the mere thought of doing something like that again, she desperately wished she could run to the nearest source of water and wash herself until the sticky feeling and bad thoughts were washed away. Being so lost in her own head meant Blossomstorm was completely unprepared for a kick to the stomach, causing her to be launched off of the other nicheling before landing on her side with a slight wheeze. Sandstripe beamed with victory until she saw Blossomstorm still laying on her side after a few moments. She rushed over to Blossomstormâs side with a concerned expression. âAre you alright? I didnât mean to kick you that hard, I shouldâve been more careful even if we are practicing a fightâ Sandstripeâs words barely reached Blossomstorm but she forced herself to her paws as she realized how concerning it probably looked to the other nicheling. âIâm fine, just wasnât paying enoughâŚwasnât paying enough attentionâ Blossomstorm said in an attempt to wave away her worries. âMaybe we should continue our training next moonhigh?â Sandstripe suggested and Blossomstorm couldnât deny that she would probably need a break to recalibrate her thoughts and emotions. âProbablyâ She simply said in agreement but the look on concern that Sandstripe worse made her a bit queasy. âBut I did figure out a weak point in your fighting skillsâ Blossomstorm wanted to shift the topic away from her lackluster performance during that fight. âOh?â Sandstripe said with perked ears. âYeah, well the main issue I see is that you arenât able to move fast enough to dodge attacks so next time we meet maybe we could focus on something to improve your agilityâ Blossomstorm spoke on what she noticed during the training, pushing away the uncomfortable feeling that still clung to her paws and muzzle. âThat makes sense now that I think about itâ Sandstripe looked into the sky as she considered the other nichelingâs words. âI should probably go back home though, Iâve been out for a whileâ Blossomstorm said as she realized that she had been out far longer than she meant to. âOh! Right, rightâ Sandstripe said feeling surprised herself. âWell bye than!â Sandstripe said as Blossomstorm started walking away. âByeâ Blossomstorm called over her shoulder as she continued walking.   Blossomstorm hadnât gone back to camp at first, having decided to take a detour to a river to wash herself in the water. She washed her paws and muzzle once but it still felt wrong so she washed her paws and muzzle againâŚand againâŚshe hated the fact that the sticky feeling felt like it wouldnât go away no matter how long she tried to rub the feeling off of her fur. She just stayed by the water until she noticed the sun starting to peek out and she realized how long sheâd been gone. She jumped to her paws and quickly ran towards the camp while internally cringing at the scolding she would probably be getting. - âBLOSSOMSTORM!â Blossomstorm winced as her entrance to the camp was greeted with a yell from the approaching TwigStar. âWhere were you?! Weâve been looking for you for most of the night and yet you wander in like nothing happened!â To most TwigStar would come across as just furious but Blossomstorm quickly noticed the way his fur was a complete mess and exhaustion weighed heavily in his eyes. âSorryâŚâ Blossomstorm mumbled feeling shame burn through pelt at the realization that sheâd stressed her clanmates out much more than she thought she would. âSorry?! I-â TwigStar forced himself to stop and take a breath to reorganize his thoughts. âWhere were you? Why are you paws and face wet?â TwigStar tried to keep an even tone but Blossomstorm easily picked up on the concern and fear in his voice. âI just- I wandered too far from the territory and got lostâ Blossomstorm decided saying that she was training with Sandstripe might concern TwigStar further and he seemed more than stressed enough. âAnd your paws and face?â TwigStar pressed as Blossomstorm mindlessly shook a paw to try and get rid of some of the water. âI saw a river and tried to hunt some fish, the fish wonâ Blossomstorm quickly thought up a believable lie. TwigStar stared at her in a way that made her wonder if he saw through her lies, would she lose his trust?...But then he sighed with closed eyes. âWell maybe bring someone with you next time you decide to have a late night hunting trip, you could get severely injured if those bearyena come back and find you aloneâ TwigStar opened his eyes to reveal a look of drained concern, only making Blossomstorm feel even worse as she realized that he must be completely exhausted from balancing his leader duties and worrying about her whereabouts. âI willâ Blossomstorm put her gaze to her paws which seemed to satisfy TwigStar as he nodded. âAlright, justâŚbe a bit more careful pleaseâ Blossomstorm just silently nodded at TwigStarâs words before standing to her paws and turning around. She was relived at the thought of getting some rest after accidentally staying up through the night but she was stopped by running into someone causing her to glance up from her paws only to notice who she ran into. âSorry Crowshade, Iâm going to get some restâ She said as she went to go around her but was stopped by Crowshade stepping into her path again. âCome with meâ Crowshade spoke as she turned around and walked, having no doubt that Blossomstorm would follow. âUh- okay?â Blossomstorm proved Crowshadeâs assumption correct as she trailed after her closest clanmate with a bit of irritation as she was looking forward to taking a nap. Though she wouldâve loved spending time with Crowshade any other time currently Blossomstorm wanted nothing more than to collapse into her nest. It was only once the two were in a secluded corner of camp that Crowshade stopped and then proceeded to sit down, tapping a paw against the ground next to her. Blossomstorm took the obvious invitation to sit down next to her. âWhat did you want to talk about?â Blossomstorm asked as she idly brushed a paw over the dusty ground. âI doubt you just went on a sudden hunting trip, especially considering I can smell WhisperClan on youâ Blossomstorm flinched from surprise as Crowshade commented on the very faint scent that clung to parts of the pink nichelingâs pelt. âYeah well-â Blossomstorm heavily considered just trying to push another lie but took a deep breath instead. âWhen we were at the WhisperClan camp I ended up chatting with Sandstripe and we realized we both have weaknesses that the other was good at, sheâs good at hunting but not the best at fightingâ Blossomstorm took a moment to take a breath before continuing âso we decided that we would meet at night so we could practice what weâre weak at and become the best warriors we can be!â she took a moment to catch her breath before glancing at Crowshade. âOhâŚokayâ Crowshade both did and didnât want to doubt Blossomstormâs words, as the idea of her crush visiting a nicheling in secret made her equal parts nervous and agitated. But Crowshade can also easily see Blossomstorm running off to get better at hunting to âprove herselfâ to the clan, though she has her own thoughts on that unfortunate mentality. âCan I go sleep now?â Blossomstorm said, not really picking up on the off tone of Crowshadeâs voice. âSureâ Crowshade decided to drop it as she noticed the exhaustion that seemed to seep from Blossomstorm. âSee you laterâ Blossomstorm farewelled as she stood to her paws before walking in the direction of the warriorâs den.  1
CosmicChaos21 Posted August 2, 2024 Author Posted August 2, 2024 âIs there a reason youâre following me around?â TwigStar finally spoke his mind after being uncomfortably aware of the fact that Sap had been trailing after him for long enough to put a sense of unease into his chest. âSorry!â Sap quickly exclaimed only further putting TwigStar on edge at the volume âI wanted to help you but youâve just been walking aroundâ Sap elaborated as he realized the leader wanted an explanation. âWell if you wanna help than come with me to patrol the borderâ TwigStar caved though most of the reason was as a way to assess how much of a threat Sap could be to the other members of WildClan. âAlright lead the way!â Sap said with a bubbly smile that only served to add onto the leaderâs unease but TwigStar said nothing as he began to lead the newest member of the clan to the territoryâs border. - âYou must be vigilant when patrolling the borders, even a moment of being careless could create an opening for something or someone dangerousâ TwigStar gave instructions to the newest member of the clan as they walked along the border of the territory. Sap listened with rapt interest as he walked side by side with the leader. âAnd make sure to either scratch something like a rock, or rub your cheek against something solid to leave a mark that tells others that this is WildClan territoryâ TwigStar rubbed his cheek against a rock to demonstrate. âOh! Like this?â Sap went to do the same on a different rock but TwigStar put a paw in front of his face causing him to pause. âDonât do that yet, you havenât been in WildClan long enough to have our scentâ TwigStar put his paw back onto the ground as he looked at the other nicheling. âOh, okayâ Sap said a little dejected at not being able to help. âWeâve still got a good chunk of the border to patrolâ TwigStar said with a twitch of his tail to indicate the other nicheling to follow. âOkay!â Sap felt a bit better at the idea of finishing the patrol. TwigStar stopped after walking in silence for some time. âWe also have to continually rip out grass if it starts to grow too long so the territory is more well definedâ He said as he ripped some grass out from the edge of the territory. Sap hesitated as he watched considering he wasnât allowed to help with the last task. TwigStar paused as he noticed Sap wasnât helping, causing him to glance over and see the way the other nicheling looked hesitant. âYou can help with thisâ As if reading Sapâs mind TwigStar spoke causing Sapâs ears to shoot up in surprise. âOh okay!â Sap said with his earlier dejected mood seeming to have vanished at the idea of helping. The two spent some time silently pulling up bundles of grass until the border was clear once more. TwigStar stepped back to admire his and Sapâs work. âLooks goodâ The assessment made Sap stop and step back as well with a smile as that was the first time the leader had given him anything but distrust and suspicion. âWe patrol the borders at least twice, at sunrise and sundownâ TwigStar said as he glanced at Sap who was staring at him with all his focus. âThere can be more if we think thereâs a threat in the area thoughâ TwigStar looked away from the other nichelingâs stare to instead sniff the air. âWe also have at least one nicheling up while the others sleep so any danger doesnât take us off guardâ The leader spoke as he felt his unease slightly lift at the lack of dangerous or unknown scents. Sap just nodded along to show he was listening and not interrupt the leaderâs explanation. âAre you any good at hunting?â Sap was a bit surprised by the question at first before thinking about it. âNot reallyâŚâ He admitted sheepishly âbut Iâm good at digging!â he rushed to say as he waved his left paw. TwigStar gave an idle hum as he inspected the other nichelingâs paw for a time that made Sap a little concerned. âDo you know anything about herbs?â TwigStar asked. âOh, I know some basic stuff so if I got hurt I didnât dieâ Sap answered with a tilt of his head. âHmmâ TwigStar mentally weighed his options. The clan needs a medicine nicheling, Crowshade was obviously sick of the role that was supposed to be temporary, but did he want to put a nicheling he didnât trust in charge of his wounds? Or would it be better for Crowshade to deal with her role for longer to ensure that Sap was a good choice? âNevermindâ TwigStar decided the risk of Sap being able to harm or poison him or his clanmates when injured was far too strong of a risk for him to take considering the clan just got back to its paws. âOkay?â Sap had questions but didnât want to push his luck as he saw the leader start walking. âWeâre going back to camp, weâve covered the whole borderâ TwigStar said as he continued walking. âOkayâ Sap said as he walked side by side with the leader again.   Blossomstorm blinked in surprise as her eyes opened to a familiar environment. Twisted, leafless trees towered over her and everything looked slightly off as usual. She looked around but was confused as nothing seemed to be about. Then the sound of a soft pawstep caught her attention and she quickly turned and swiped at the direction just in time to slash A familiar nicheling across the nose. âSpottedfrost?!â She said in a shocked tone as said nicheling wiped his nose with his paw before looking at the bloodied paw. âYouâve gotten even stronger in such a short time!â Spottedfrost barked out a laugh as he smiled at Blossomstorm. âI thought you abandoned me or somethingâ Blossomstorm tried to play it off as a joke but it really wasnât. It had been almost two moons since sheâd last seen her âmentorâ in her dreams. âOf course not, I was just busyâ Spottedfrost couldnât stop an undertone of annoyance from slipping into his tone. âBusy? With what?â Blossomstorm asked and Spottedfrost at first only let out an âahâ as he realized that of course she would be curious. âWell being dead should equate constant relaxation but a certain nicheling definitely gives me some griefâ Spottedfrostâs ear twitched in annoyance as he remembered how much LocustStar tried to scold him for being âtoo attachedâ to his apprentice. âYouâre going softâ and âThatâs only for the weakâ and on and on. âGuess even when youâre dead some nichelings still find a reason to complainâ Blossomstorm said in understanding, the best comparison she had was her former mentor Tigerthorn. âTell me about itâ Spottedfrost scoffed though his expression softened from the annoyance he had moments before. âI got my warrior name!â Blossomstorm suddenly exclaimed before realizing that he would probably know already if he can see what goes on. âReally now? And what is it?â Spottedfrost asked genuinely curious. âBlossomstorm!â Blossomstorm responded before speaking again âBut I though you saw whatâs going on inside the clan?â she spoke with a curious tone. Spottedfrost felt a prickle of unease as he wondered if she had noticed that he wasnât a StarClan nicheling. âWell remember that nicheling I was complaining about? He was complaining so much I simply didnât have timeâ He said, it wasnât a lie because LocustStar had honestly been hounding him almost all the time. âWouldnât he run out of things to complain about?â Blossomstorm asked feeling a mild headache just from the thought of dealing with a nicheling like that. âYou would think! But no unfortunately notâ Spottedfrost rubbed his face with his paw. âAnywaysâ Spottedfrost wanted to move on from the topic of LocustStar âwhy donât we train, see if your skills are still sharpâ he said as he got himself into position. âAlright!â Blossomstorm said as she prepared herself, having been itching for training from her mentor, or former mentor since she was a warrior?   A few sunrises later the clan was startled by the sound of rustling before a bright shape darted into camp. The nichelings of the clan tensed before noticing what, or rather who, it was. âSandstripe?â TwigStar said with narrowed eyes as he tried to figure out why the WhisperClan nicheling was here. âHi TwigStarâ Sandstripe greeted before moving on âGoldenStar wanted me to remind you about the gathering, itâs gonna be a full moon this moonhighâ TwigStarâs eyes shot opened as he suddenly remembered his agreement with GoldenStar. âOf course, when exactly are we meeting and where?â TwigStar asked to make sure he got everything right. âWeâre meeting at moonhigh and you know that spot on the left outside your territory with those two rocks?â Sandstripe waited until TwigStar nodded to continue âweâre meeting there because GoldenStar said it was best to meet on neutral ground so weâll all be less tenseâ she finished delivering the message she needed to. âAlright, me and my clan will be thereâ TwigStar agreed making Sandstripe nod before something caught her attention. âWhoâs that?â Sandstripeâs focus was trained on Sap as she looked between the new nicheling and TwigStar, baffled at the idea of the defensive leader letting a stranger into his tiny clan. âSap, I will explain more at the gatheringâ TwigStar cordially shot down any more questioning from the WhisperClan nicheling. Sandstripe got the hint âAlright, see you all later!â she said before turning around and running into the grass, presumably back to her own clan. âGathering? Is that a clan thing?â Sap asked with his eyes practically sparkling at meeting more clan nichelings. âIt is now, itâs part of an agreement we made with WhisperClanâ TwigStar explained making Sap more curious. âAn agreement?â He asked but the warning glare TwigStar sent him made him reconsider. But then TwigStar sighed as he realized he was being too harsh again. âWhisperClan harbored our clan when we had been attacked by a group of bearyenaâ He said making Sap perk up again. âThey must be nice then!â Sap smiled while the other WildClan nichelings expressions became muddled. âMost of themâ Crowshadeâs snout scrunched in annoyance, starting Sap as the nicheling hadnât talked to him except to give him her name. âMost of them?â Sap repeated with a tilt of his head. âSparrowtuft is part of WhisperClan and Iâm pretty sure he hates our gutsâ Blossomstorm filled in after realizing he would have no clue who that is. âWhy?â Sap asked, sure TwigStar was a bitâŚfinicky and Crowshade was kind of cold but hatred seems to be a bit much. âHe doesnât trust usâ Crowshade simply answered as that seemed to be the long and short of it. âOhâ Sap was tempted to ask more but decided against it. âWe should be careful of what we say, if it goes badly it could cause a warâ TwigStar felt nerves prickle his pelt at the mere idea of a fight. âBut GoldenStar seems like the least likely nicheling to start a fightâ Blossomstorm said with confusion. âMaybe, but Sparrowtuft would, and maybe he could convince GoldenStar if he worded it rightâ The three other members of WildClan shared concerned glances at the leaderâs words. âUm, maybe we could chat before the gathering?â Blossomstorm tried to see if she could convince him to tell her exactly what the root of the issue is but he shook his head. âI should prepare for the gatheringâ TwigStar said as he turned around and went to his den. âI should try to talk to himâ Blossomstorm took a step before a voice stopped her. âI donât think thatâd be a good ideaâ Crowshade said making Blossomstorm turn her head towards her. âHe might lash out considering how antsy he seems at the momentâ Crowshadeâs words only added to Blossomstormâs worry. âBut it wouldnât be good for him to go to the gathering like this, and besides-â Blossomstorm saw Sap staring and paused. âNo offense but could we talk in private?â Blossomstorm gave Sap a smile to show she wasnât trying to get rid of him. âOh sure, Iâll see if I can hunt anythingâ Sap got the hint and turned around to go hunting. It was only once the two were sure Sap was out of earshot that they continued. âIt might not be but I donât want you to cry because he said something hurtfulâ Crowshadeâs nose scrunched in agitation at TwigStarâs behavior lately with the paranoia and irritability. âI know he doesnât mean it thoughâ Blossomstorm reasoned but Crowshade shook her head. âJust because heâs stressed doesnât mean he should treat his clanmates like that!â Blossomstorm was taken off guard by Crowshade raising her volume. âWell I donât hate him, heâs my brother in everything but blood at this point!â Blossomstorm didnât realize the raise in volume as she felt frustration rise in her, she didnât want to argue with Crowshade but she couldnât entirely agree with what she said. âFamily can be just as cruel as strangers, just because you see him as family doesnât mean you should tolerate his temperâ Crowshade let out a low rumble at Blossomstormâs refusal to listen. âIâve known him my entire life, heâs all I have left of my kithood anymore!â Blossomstorm argued with bared teeth. âWell that may be true but he canât just act like this and get no consequences!â Crowshade rebutted as her fur bristled. âNot to mention that heâs the leader! Even if I by some chance didnât like him, which would be a lie, he has five whole livesâ Blossomstorm said with a bitter laugh. âI donât think he deserves itâ Those words wiped the bitter smile off of Blossomstormâs face. âWhatâ Blossomstormâs tone made it obvious she heard but was warning Crowshade against saying it again. âHe doesnât seem fit to lead anymore in my opinionâ Crowshade stared into Blossomstormâs eyes without a hint of hesitation. Blossomshade bared her teeth as she felt her claws unsheath. But despite her mind telling her to swipe at her she simply screwed her eyes shut with a breath in. âHe deserves that titleâ Blossomstorm spat as she turned on her paws to go hunting in an attempt to cool off. Crowshade scowled at her retreating figure before rubbing her head with a paw. She didnât understand, couldnât Blossomstorm see that TwigStar wasnât in the best state to lead anymore?  1

Theres like 4 people left in the clan dont be fighting guys đđđ

CosmicChaos21 Posted August 4, 2024 Author Posted August 4, 2024 WildClanâs four members arrived to the arranged spot only to realize they had gotten there later than WhisperClan as they saw said clan chatting amongst themselves. All eyes turned towards the newly arrived nichelings as TwigStar walked over and jumped up onto the rock that sat by Sparrowtuftâs spot on a stump. âWhereâs GoldenStar?â TwigStar asked after taking a cursory look at the crowd and noticing the lack of a very important nicheling. âNone of your businessâ Sparrowtuft gave a snippy response that made TwigStarâs ears flatten for a moment before another nicheling spoke up. âShe recovered from losing a life but she got sick shortly afterwards and as deputy Sparrowtuft is taking over her responsibilities until sheâs healthy againâ Lightstream piped up making Sparrowtuftâs scowl before deciding to just brush it off. âI hope she recovers soonâ TwigStar sent his well wishes as he did appreciate that she had housed his clan while in danger. âWhisperClan is doing well, we have abundant prey and we even have a new warriorâ Sparrowtuftâs words caught the attention of all the WildClan nichelings. âMy former apprentice is now named Flameshineâ Sparrowtuft used his paw to gesture towards the bright orange nicheling who was surprised at the sudden attention but straightened his posture to appear more put together. âCongratulations Flameshineâ TwigStar said as he wasnât going to be harsh just because he didnât get along with the young warriorâs mentor. âThank you TwigStarâ Flameshine looked at his paws for a moment before meeting the other leaderâs gaze. TwigStar waited to hear any other news before clearing his throat the catch the gathered nichelingâs attention. âWildClan is also doing well, maybe even greatâ TwigStar began âWe have been swiftly rebuilding our camp and regathering resources along with another good piece of newsâ The gathered nichelings of the other clan looked on with intrigue. âWe have a brand new member to bolster our numbers, a former loner named Sapâ TwigStar used his paw to point towards the newest member of WildClan, causing a wave of murmurs and whispers throughout the WhisperClan nichelings as they truly processed that a new nicheling had joined the other clan. âAre you just letting any nicheling join your clan or something?â Sparrowtuftâs words caused TwigStarâs fur to raise. âOf course not, he has gone through trials to ensure he would be a good fit for the clanâ TwigStar replied with a deep breath to settle his fur once more. âI guess I shouldnât be surprised considering-â Lightstream spoke up to interrupt the deputyâs words. âAlright so why donât we talk about something else like uh whoâs your deputy now?â WhisperClanâs medicine nicheling asked to break up the tension that was forming between the two leaders. TwigStar barely repressed a wince at the question as it served to remind him of what he forgot to do. âWell I have an idea but I havenât appointed my choice yet, we were more focused on rebuilding the camp than doing ceremoniesâ TwigStar spoke with composure but Sparrowtuft scoffed. âHow responsible, not assigning a deputy in case something happened to youâ The WhisperClan deputy remarked with a sneer. âSPARROWTUFT!â The loud volume of the WhisperClan medicine nicheling froze everyone in their spots as eyes turned towards her. âGoldenStar didnât assign you deputy to start conflicts with WildClan, how would she feel if she saw your behavior right now?â Lightstream scolded as she kept a determined gaze on the clan deputy. Sparrowtuft bared his teeth with narrowed eyes before shutting them and turning away. âFine, letâs just do what we need to than leaveâ He hissed out with a lash of his tail. âWhy donât we all get a chance to talk to each other, maybe thatâll ease the atmosphereâ Mudvine piped up making TwigStar consider it. âAs if that would help-â âSureâ Sparrowtuft and TwigStar spoke at the same time before staring at each other. âGreat! Letâs socialize everyone!â Mudvine said before the leaders could start arguing again causing most nichelings to break off into groups or by themselves.  TwigStar had gone off into a corner mostly to be by himself for a moment. If his clanmates needed him they would come get him or yell. As he idly scanned the sky he was caught off guard by a voice speaking to him. âSorry about himâ TwigStar flinched back with bristled fur before realizing it was Lightstream. The medicine nicheling gave him an apologetic glance before continuing âI wish heâd stop trying to cause problems with you guys but unfortunately he refuses to relaxâ she said with a mildly agitated sigh. âIâm not going to blame the rest of you for his actions but if heâs deputy he should choose his words more carefully unless he wants to start a conflict he canât endâ TwigStar said with mild irritation before forcing himself to relax. âAgreedâ Lightstream nodded at the sentiment, worried that Sparrowtuft would accidentally get his clan hurt in his quest to protect them. âAnyways why donât we talk about something else?â Lightstream offered âFor example I wanted to say I admire your ability to stay calm despite dealing with a lotâ she said catching TwigStar off guard at the sudden compliment. âThanks?â TwigStar hesitantly accepted it though he wondered if there was another reason behind it. âDonât look at me sp suspiciously, Iâm just paying you a complimentâ Lightstream couldnât stop a laugh from bubbling up at the face he was making for a simple compliment. âI did also have something else to ask you, something a bit biggerâ Lightstreamâs demeanor turned more nervous which made TwigStar uneasy but he nodded nonetheless. âWould you want to meet every quarter moon?â TwigStar bit down his automatic ânoâ to truly think about it. It would make him feel uneasy but if he was careful he could pry some information about WhisperClan out of her so he and his clan would be prepared in case something dangerous against his clan was planned. But he did still have his leader duties and didnât want to garner suspicion so he asked for a change. âWhat about every half moon instead? I do have a lot to do and would like some restâ TwigStar suggested but Lightstream was elated and quickly nodded. âVery understandable! Iââd love toâ Lightstream was shocked and internally happy screaming because she actually got the distrustful leader to meet her, she never thought he would agree with how suspicious he was of everything but this was a dream come true/ âWe shouldnât talk about it anymore though, could look suspiciousâ TwigStar said making Lightstream think about it. âYeah I should probably socialize with some other nichelings anyways, see you!â Lightstream waved before bounding off leaving TwigStar to idly watch over the gathering.   âThis is Sandstripe!â Blossomstorm was still agitated about the earlier argument but she tried to pretend she was same as usual. âThe nicheling youâve been meeting?â Blossomstorm and Sandstripe were both dead shocked at the immediate realization. âDid you tell her?â Sandstripe whispered so the other nicheling didnât hear, though none seemed to hear the other statement. âNoâ Blossomstorm said, she didnât say exactly what nicheling did she? âYour scent is the sameâ Crowshade explained as she tried to bite down her jealousy. Unfortunately for both of them Sandstripe easily picked up on their agitation. âWhy are you two not getting along?â Sandstripe noticed they seemed oddly short with each other at the moment. Seeing the stares she decided to not ask specifics. âWell I wonât ask but maybe you two should talk whatever this is out, itâs kinda obviousâ She said as she looked between the two, whoâs faces soured but didnât deny the idea outright. âI supposeâ Crowshade simply grumbled. âAlright whatever, why donât I instead ask about the new member of your clan?â Blossomstorm was relieved at the topic change and spoke to answer first. âHis name is Sap and he joined to see what clan life was like, seems like he likes it so far thoughâ Blossomstorm replied as she glanced over at Sap before returning her gaze back to the nichelings she was talking to. âItâs good to see you guys get new members, more protection that wayâ Sandstripe said with a smile. âYeahâŚâ Blossomstorm couldnât help but agree as she idly scratched at the wound on her side. âHe is helpful I have to admitâ Crowshade said as she remembered how he often offered to help with her tasks. The conversation died off as Sandstripe struggled to think of a conversation topic while Crowshade and Blossomstorm werenât exactly trying to talk to each other.  1
CosmicChaos21 Posted August 5, 2024 Author Posted August 5, 2024 Got a big update today! -  The clan had barely settled into their usual routines are returning from the gathered when the sound of grass rustling caught everyoneâs attention. The four nichelings of the clan stood alert as they stared at the rustling grass before a nichelingâs head poked out. Sapâs tense posture instantly vanished as he ran over to the nicheling. âROSE!â He exclaimed with a beaming smile as he skidded to a stop in front of the imposing nicheling. âSap! I have amazing newsâ The red nicheling spoke as she stepped out of the grass completely which made the other nichelings realize exactly how huge she was, towering over Sap easily. âWho is this?â TwigStar kept his gaze locked onto âRoseâ despite the fact the question was directed toward Sap. âThatâs Rose, we were mates before I joined the clanâ Sap explained easily as he turned towards the approaching TwigStar. âWere?â Rose asked seeming a bit heartbroken which made Sapâs ears lower. âWell I didnât want us to be mates if I never really saw you, yâknow?â He said with a quiet tone as his actions started to really sink in. âCould we be mates again than?â Rose asked with hopeful eyes which Sap perked up at. âWell yeah!â He paused as he saw TwigStarâs expression âCanât she do something to uh âproveâ herself? Sheâs a good nicheling I promiseâ Sap reassured with a mildly nervous smile. TwigStarâs cold stare seemed to pierce Roseâs soul in a way that made her uneasy. âFine, hunt at least two rabills than you could join on a trial runâ Rose winced at TwigStarâs request before piping up. âAbout that I kind of canât at the momentâ Rose said with a sheepish smile making TwigStar look at her with suspicion âWhy?â he simply asked. âThe news I was going to share with Sap is that Iâm pregnant, and due soonâ Rose explained making TwigStarâs eyes widen. âIâŚsuppose you can stay for now, but you better not run off as soon as your kits can walkâ TwigStar sighed, he wasnât cruel enough to run off a pregnant nicheling. âOh thank you! I promise Iâll help as soon as I canâ Rose ran over to make sure TwigStar heard her, feeling a wave of relief wash over her at the idea of having a secure and permanent residence to raise her future kits. âBut Iâd prefer if you followed our naming conventions when theyâre bornâ TwigStar tried very hard to ignore the tenseness that rose in him at the realization of exactly how huge Rose was, she had to be a head taller than him and either fluffier or bulkier than him. âNaming conventions?â Rose took a few steps back as she realized how tense he looked. âKits have kit at the end of their name, apprentices have paw at the end, and warrior names are two things though star is only for leadersâ Seeing the puzzled expression on Roseâs face he decided to continue explaining âA kit could be called Cloudkit, an apprentice Cloudpaw, and as a warrior something like Cloudrunâ Rose gave an âohâ noise as she got the gist. âI wouldnât have a problem with thatâ Rose said with a nod of agreement. âNow Sap didnât but when loners join they usually get something added to their name to make it a warrior nameâ TwigStar explained and Roseâs eyes widened in intrigue. âI want a name like thatâ Rose said, thinking it sounded interesting. âWell then follow me to the Tall Rockâ TwigStar beckoned Rose with his tail as he turned around.   TwigStar climbed onto the rock, minding his paws so he didnât slip and make a fool of himself, before turning and staring directly at the potential newest member of the clan. âRose do you promise to uphold the warrior code and protect the clan even at the cost of your lifeâ He did nothing to soften the words as he wanted Rose to know exactly what she was getting into. Rose blinked in shock at the gravity of those words but brushed them off as fancy yet useless words for a ceremony. âYesâ TwigStar was a bit thrown off by the incorrect words but quickly ignored it as he realized that she would have no clue what the correct words were. âThen by the power of StarClan you will be known as Rosecurrentâ He just went off her general personality, from what tiny bit he currently knew of it, but it seemed to be a good choice as Rose, now Rosecurrent, beamed as the other members repeated her new name. âNow you have a warrior nameâ TwigStar said after hopping down from the rock. âThatâs perfect! It-â Rosecurrent suddenly winced heavily in a way that made TwigStarâs ears raise in alarm. âPregnancy painsâ Rosecurrent said as she noticed the concerned looks of the nichelingâs around her. âYou should lay in the medicine denâ Crowshade spoke as she approached Rosecurrent. âLead the wayâ Rosecurrent said as she would heavily appreciate the chance to rest.   It was only once Rosecurrent was out of earshot that TwigStar spoke. âYou had a mate before joining the clan?â Sap shrunk a little under TwigStarâs scrutiny. âWell yeahâ He mumbled just loud enough for the leader to hear. âSeems kinda coldâ Blossomstorm piped up at the idea of Sap leaving his mate to run off and join a clan. Sap winced but didnât deny her words either âI guess it isâ he refused to make eye contact as he spoke âbut at least weâre mates again and we get to be in the same clan!â he tried to add some optimism to the conversation. âDo you have any of friends, family, or anything else that we should know about?â TwigStar asked with narrow eyes, disliking the fact Sap kept this information a secret as TwigStarâs budding trust of Sap was snipped before it could even bloom. âMy family is on a completely different island and I donât have any friends on this one so no, promise!â Sap said as he saw the distrust gather in the leaderâs eyes, not wanting to lose the small bit of trust he gained by helping the clan. âFine, but if I find out youâre lying youâll never and I mean NEVER touch a single paw onto this territory ever againâ TwigStar warned as he decided to tentatively believe him for now. âThereâs no one else I promiseâ Sap tried to reassure with a smile. âI should patrol the border, Iâll return soonâ TwigStar suddenly turned on his paws before walking towards the edge of the territory. âBye!â Blossomstorm said as he walked off. âOh- okayâ Sap said a bit shocked at the sudden exit.   TwigStar also used the border patrol as an excuse as he snuck off to meet with Lightstream, knowing he wouldnât get any information at first. Heâd have to be friendly or else he would just scare her off. Though if he was too friendly itâd look bad too. âIâm kinda surprised we found each other considering we never really specified where to meetâ Lightstream said with a mildly nervous laugh. âYeah, I was wondering how weâd meet if we had no clue where to goâ TwigStar forced himself to not this of how he was alone with a nicheling from the other clan and instead tried to hold a normal conversation. âWhatâs your favorite prey?â Lightstream laughed and TwigStar felt embarrassment burn in his pelt as he realized that was a very basic question. âSorry! I just never expected such a simple question from youâ Lightstream apologized after noticing the way he tensed up âmy favorite prey is actually razorinaâ TwigStar looked at her with complete confusion. âRazorina?â Now it was Lightstreamâs turn to be confused at TwigStarâs words. âYou donât know what razorina are?â She asked just to make sure she wasnât missing something. âTheyâre a bigger and tougher to hunt type of fish, theyâre red with lots of spines you have to be careful of when fishing them upâ Lightstream explained after TwigStar nodded at her previous question. âInteresting, my clan usually just eats rabillsâ TwigStar said as he pictured the razorina in his mind. âDonât you ever get bored of eating the same thing?â Lightstream asked, hating the idea herself. âNo, it keeps my clan fed and thatâs all that really matters to meâ TwigStar easily answered making Lightstream give of a hum of acknowledgement. âI guess that makes senseâ Lightstream said as she thought about it. âWhy donât we talk about you? For example whatâs your family like?â TwigStar winced at the question as memories of his deceased family were dragged to the forefront of his mind. âTheyâre deadâ TwigStar decided to pull no punches as there was no reason to lie. âOh, sorry!â Lightstreamâs eyes flew open as she realized that was an insensitive question especially considering he never spoke of family. âItâs fine, just donât ask furtherâ TwigStar decided to let it go though it was still a sore spot for him. âI like huntingâ TwigStar decided to give a small piece of information about himself to keep the conversation from completely snuffing out. âWhat makes it fun for you?â Lightstream latched onto a less awkward thread of conversation immediately to try and wave away the previous topic. âIt gives me time to be alone and think without worrying too much about my duties as leader of the clanâ TwigStar replied as he considered hunting to be the most relaxing thing he really does anymore, usually focusing on his work too much to enjoy anything anymore. Lightstream thought hard before voicing her thoughts. âMaybe assigning a deputy would take some weight off your shoulders, I mean you said you had a choice right?â Lightstream watched TwigStarâs expression as he thought about it. âYouâre probably right, I should have some time to do the ceremony next sunhighâ TwigStar sighed as he realized he had put it off for far too long at this point âIâll get that doneâ he nodded at Lightstream making a smile break her previously concerned expression. âIâd love to see you a little more relaxedâ Lightstream said as she felt having another nicheling bear the weight would let the leader rest more. âI should get goingâ The sudden words took Lightstream off guard but she noticed TwigStar looking at the sky causing her to give it a glance as well. âOh, itâs going to be sundown soonâ Lightstream said both nichelingâs thoughts out loud. âI have to get back to the clan before they have suspicionsâ TwigStar said as he stood to his paws. âYouâre right, see youâ Lightstream said as she stood up as well to see TwigStar already leaving though he did give a small âgoodbyeâ before leaving.   TwigStar came back to a surprising scene in camp. Every nicheling of the clan was gathered by or inside the medicine den and it raised both curiosity and alarm in the leader as he made his way towards it. The nichelings of the clan parted to make way for the leader to see inside. Instead of an injury like he had feared TwigStar came across the scene of a kit heâd never seen before drawing random shapes into the dirt of the den. Crowshade was sorting herbs and seemed completely fine with the fact that this kit was inside one of the most important places of the clan. âWhere did that kit come fromâ TwigStarâs voice caused Crowshade to look up from the herbs she was sorting to glance towards the leader. âThe kit was covered in mud and starving so I brought her here to get some food and clean upâ The temporary medicine nicheling spoke without any hesitation as she felt it would be cruel to potentially leave a kit to die alone. âAre you sure the kit doesnât have any parents or someone waiting?â TwigStar did feel sympathy but didnât want to risk this being some messed up sort of bait to lure them into a false sense of security. âConsidering she didnât have any scent and was STARVING i heavily doubt it, or if she did they probably werenât the best anywaysâ Crowshade put emphasis on the word starving as she felt this level of distrust was completely unnecessary. âWhatâs your name kit?â TwigStar asked as he looked over at the kit who didnât respond, completely focused on the random assortment of lines she was drawing. âKitâ The kitâs attention snapped towards the leader. âOh hello! Iâm making somethingâ The kit said as she pointed a paw towards her drawing. âThatâsâŚgreatâ TwigStar refused to be snippy towards a kit even if he was concerned for his clanâs safety. âBut whatâs your name?â He asked again making the kit let out a surprised noise. âOh my parents didnât give me oneâ The kit spoke making TwigStarâs eyes shoot open at the calm way the kit admitted that. Crowshade gave TwigStar a âsee?â type of look and he realized this probably wasnât an elaborate trap. âWell what do you think of the name Sharpkit?â TwigStar asked making the kitâs face sour. âEw, thatâs an evil name, I donât want thatâ TwigStar sighed but then thought some more. The kit seemed creative so maybe something of that nature would be better. He thought hard to find something fitting for the kitâs demeanor but struggled. âWhat about Vibrantkit?â Rosecurrent suggested making the kit gasp and jump to her paws. âTHAT! THAT ONE!â The group collectively winced at the volume but TwigStar spoke first. âVibrantkit it isâ He agreed making the newly named Vibrantkit squeal in excitement as she giggled. âYeah!â She beamed before sitting down again. âIâm gonna drawâ She said seeming to have moved on to something else now. TwigStar stared in disbelief before letting out an amused chuckle. âGuess we have another new memberâ He remarked as he realized how much the clan had grown since just the gathering, it felt more like an actual clan than a few ragged members.  1

Rosecurrent and Vibrantkit are so pretty!!! Also it's good to see the Clan getting back on its feet again But Twigstar is so paranoid bro was suspicious of a kit đ. Kinda feel bad for him

Yeah unfortunately the paranoia is not getting better and yeah I feel a bit bad too even though I'M the one writing him to be this way- I think it is melanism, in niche melanistic nichelings have a kind of blue black fur, while blackfurred nichelings are more grey black
