I don't know much about humanoid anatomy, so can't help you there. (You seem to have a pretty good grasp on it anyways)

I guess you could add a second layer of softer shading to match the mood of the scene, as well as a highlights layer (set to something like "soft light", "screen" or "addition"). Lastly you could play around with reflected light

This will actually help cause I've wanted to learn how to shade more and add more light to my art
