I know that I have no room to talk here because I don't know your friends or anything like that, but this could just be them trying not to overreact and respecting your opinion while trying not to counter it -- I myself have done this a couple of times

hes so dry bro. i thought he liked me JUST A BIT xause like we'd text at night and he played  roblox w me and he asked his parents if he could hang out w me after the halfday for school (he couldn't cause he had a class tho) and stuff bro i'm delusional. so today i asked him if we could hang out after i get home from a cruise and he said no, so i told my friend and she started texting him and stuff. he did not care for the fact that i liked him nor does he like me at all. i don't like him anymore but i'm genuinely so unhappy rn like wtf.
