usually i color in the drawing before shading but doing it the other way around works as well!

then there's the actual shading part! first i just do cel shading. i'm an idiot with zero understanding of how light works so i just usually pick one side to be the one with shadows and the other the one with light. that's the way i pretend i know what i'm doing 👍

for the shadows, i pick a color i think works well with the drawing, create a new layer and set it to multiply.

when it comes to light, set the layer to overlay. i like to just use white, but i think any color will do as long as it's light and not too saturated.

finally, i blend the shading with this magical piece of technology known as j)_WaterC_Water-Pattern (this brush )

please tell me if i didn't explain something clearly enough, i'm so used to this program that all of this seems incredibly obvious to me-

oh yeah. i was going to make a post about this like. a few weeks ago but i completely forgot

i have this thing where i've been listening to the distorted version of halcyon memories quite a bit while drawing and now whenever i try to listen to the normal version i expect some parts to be weird but they're not and it  annoys the hell out of me even though that's what it's SUPPOSED to sound like
