I know niche isn't getting updates anymore, but I wanted to share this idea: A volcano island.
The Island Itself
It would be elevated in the middle, like a mountain biome. The tiles would be black. In the very middle of the island, there would be a pit of lava. If any nicheling goes into the lava pit, they will take damage and receive the burning effect, but they don't get burned if the creature has heat body.
Once every 50 days on the island, the volcano will erupt, and lava will fall onto random tiles. If a nicheling is on a tile that is hit with lava, they will also be damaged and burned and won't be burned if they have heat body.
The climate of the biome is usually 1-2 hot. On volcano eruption days, the heat will increase to 3. Occasionally, there will be no climate effects at all.
Food
The food on the island is mostly stagmoles, poison berry bushes, and a few berry bushes. Along with these food sources comes a new one: Slithard, a combination of a snake and lizard. Slithards are about as tall as an adult medium body nicheling. They have the head of a snake with the body of a lizard. Similarly to Walrus deer and rabbils, Slithards will run away when approached. The first time you attack it, it will hit you, dealing 2 damage and 1 poison, but when you hit it more times, it won't retaliate. They have 10 health points, and drop 10 pieces of meat when killed. They have poison resistance.
Predators
Bearyenas and bluebirds are the obvious predators in this biome, but a new one also emerges: Dragons. Dragons usually spawn at the middle/top of the island, inside of the lava pit. They can move 2 tiles per day. Dragons have an ability called Fire Breath, allowing them to hit nichelings from up to 3 tiles away. Dragons have 70 health points and 1 defense, making them hard to kill, so it is suggested to just run away when you see one. Occasionally, you can find baby dragons alone by themselves. If you offer it 10 food, you can befriend it and it will defend your tribe and you can breed with it when it grows up, similarly to friendly bearyenas. You can get the gene Dragon Head from breeding, which gives 1 strength, Strong Voice, and the same Fire Breath ability that dragons have. Another dragon gene you can get from breeding with them is Dragon Wing, which gives 1 strength per wing and lets you fly if you have 2 wings. Dragons have 3 sight, 2 smell, 2 hearing, 1 defense, and 3 attack.
