I’m making it completely from scratch out of literal cardboard instead of the foam usually used for fursuits, so yes, it’s gonna be awful. Here’s what I have so far. One thing I learned from it is that hot glue is a lot better for this kind of thing than tape, but you'll need a lot of it.
