So yea this will be for my Wolfquest playthroughs staring with Desert! The son of Dune and Frostbite.

Desert’s Destiny

(Accurate ironwolf playthrough!)

-

Desert had grown into an adult wolf and decided to leave his family pack behind, hoping to have his own family and leave a legacy that would last forever. But he didn’t know of the challenges that lay ahead of him, nor did he know of the dangers that wait around every corner…

Screenshot_20231218_060520_587.thumb.png.4b10b2061a1308b08505b62fecbb7f84.png

He was happy to have caught a hare, it’s a small meal but at least he knew he had something in his stomach today. Though hunger still made his stomach rumbled so he continued on in a search for something more filling.

Screenshot_20231218_060749_028.thumb.png.e9b5dd35c8c79dc1c99c28e9f730070e.png

He had been lucky as he found the scent of an elk herd quickly, and even luckier he had managed to find a weak calf. Though its mother was going to be a problem as he knew it could end him with a swift kick if he didn’t show caution and careful planning.

His hunt was interupted by another dispersal, a dark coated male who seemed intent on claiming the weak calf despite not putting in the effort to help hunt it. But after he thought he lost the one it turned out there was another as another bit his leg which slowed Desert to a stop and caused the elk to get a chance to run off.

He tried to fight but quickly realized 2 against 1 was a losing battle so he turned tail and fled but to his shock they didn’t leave him be, continuing to chase him far from the elk. They both took turns biting him and despite his efforts he couldn’t run, his wounded leg making it impossible to keep a fast pace.

And he felt guilt, his dad and mom spent so much effort raising him just for his legacy to end here, before it even begun. He never he got to hunt his first elk.

(BRUH THAT SUCKED I TRIED SO HARD TO RUN BUT THEY KEPT CHASING ME???)

ATTEMPT 2 OF ACCURATE IRONWOLF WITH A DIFFERENT BOY-

An Ornery Omen

-

While Desert’s legacy quickly ended another had began. Omen, a young 2 year old male wolf, had ventured away from his own home pack. Not to start a legacy but simply to explore far beyond the reaches of his old home.

The chilling wind higher in the mountain didn’t bother the hyper wolf, instead it invigorated him and only made him more excited to explore the treacherous mountains.

As soon as he smelled an elk herd he bolted toward the source, not even showing a wink of caution or care. He even passed on the chance to hunt a hare, despite the fact it would be a guaranteed meal to help fill his stomach.

Screenshot_20231218_063156_965.thumb.png.79a55e7af7de950e4a6e3dc82a799861.png

On his travels he came across a herd of elk! But not the right type, it was a herd of bull elk. As tempted as he was he shook off the temptation and continued on his way with the intent to find a herd of elk with calves, for something easier.

Screenshot_20231218_063846_473.thumb.png.4d73eb42870821535032a8af40561c44.png

He had luck! He found an extremely weak calf, its limp making it an obvious target for him. He got kicked once but luckily sustained no injures and managed to kill the elk without any more problems.

He quickly ate after hearing the sound of a nearby wolf, not wanting to risk the chance of getting none of his own spoils, before taking a chunk and wandering away. It was tempting but he knew a carcass wouldn’t be left alone for long.

After finding a secluded area he sat down the chunk of meat before laying down and slowly drifting off, happy to have gotten a meal and live the day.

Oof stranger wolves just don't give up sometimes. Maybe running into a wolf packs territory and then out again would get them to de-aggro?

Also cool playthrough so far! I think it's interesting to have stories of a few different wolves in the same playthrough.

I was thinking of that but sadly the combo of being in the middle of unclaimed territory mixed with a leg injury and two dispersals means I didn't even have a chance to get to try that.

Thanks! Different wolves make it more interesting I think! Especially if they have different personalities! I actually might make a new one because Desert died so quickly-

I'll be playing two wolves for now on accurate ironwolf Omen and this new boy!

-

Far from Omen’s adventures was a white wolf named Shark, who was practically the opposite in terms of personality. Skittish and lazy, Shark much preferred going for easy meals over big hunts but he knew he would never attract a mate with his rabbit hunting skills so he promised himself that he would try to hunt a few elk to prove his worth.

But the wolf quickly regretted his choice when the first this he came across was some bison, he wondered if this was a bad omen for the things to come but instead of contemplating it he quickly ran away with his tail between his legs.

Screenshot_20231220_100155_470.thumb.png.42b6f9cee985a1749d29598d315a0f33.png

The scent of a bison carcass made him stop in his tracks as he sniffed the air to find where it was. As soon as he knew he ran over with excitement at the thought of getting an easy meal.

After getting there he was confronted with a pair of coyotes, an annoyance but he was willing to fight a few coyotes for free food. So he circled them, growling and nipping at them until they gave up. But right after they left a pack of three dogs showed up. He considered running to avoid a fight but then realized he would go hungry if he didn’t so against his better judgement he fought.

It was hard to avoid the bites of three dogs but after some time he had won though not without sustaining an injury in the form of a bruised jaw. He ate then took a chunk of it before turning around and leaving.

Screenshot_20231220_100623_935.thumb.png.70c581a00d48bd631af83d9904740cb2.png

As he explored an odd place with square things he found a herd of elk. He remembered his promise to himself and set down the meat chunk before chasing the herd.

He quickly found out it was a mistake as an elk’s kick landed right on his already injured jaw, injuring it further and making him rethink he choice. Deciding it wasn’t worth it, he turned around and looked for his meat chunk before finding a spot to rest.

Screenshot_20231220_101744_401.thumb.png.f922f91062e71d2d70cb34bdc9618867.png

He made his way around to explore his new surroundings and get to know the area he would be living in for now. On his way he found a herd of elk which felt like a mockery considering his current injuries and failure to hunt an elk the day before. He ignored them and instead focused on continuing to make a mental map of this new area.

Time to play the public beta for the saga! Playing on easy to get a grip of the new stuff and just so it’s more fun than stressful. Here’s Winter! He’s the brother of Frostbite (Dune’s mate(not actually in the game but from a lore standpoint-)) His personality isn’t fleshed out yet, all I know if he’s extremely full of energy and quite social.

Screenshot_20241121_100243_397.thumb.png.ffa5441dba15cba6ddad6e7732e04b58.png

Got two hunts in one day, forgot how well easy easy mode is-

Screenshot_20241121_101735_123.thumb.png.7b75975d1994989e52f5b1bd36f495dd.png

Slept and woke up to two potential suitors! I’ve dubbed the one on the right Pigeon and the one on the left Dove! Interesting that Pigeon seems to have mange tail, and it looks like Dove has a kinked tail like Winter! Pigeon is more bold from the emotes he uses while Dove seems to be more cautious.

Screenshot_20241121_101911_146.thumb.png.32c27a0a4046aa13815187a4e418dd98.png

While good potential options I feel Winter would prefer to keep his options open in case, perhaps that will change but for now Winter will continue being a lone wolf!

Screenshot_20241121_102546_684.thumb.png.39003279938f4b73bf893fc2c3591b04.png

Hi, you may be wondering how we got here. Well Winter heard a howl coming from deep in the Geode Pack territory that didn’t sound as hostile so he followed it and ended up finding some pack wolves that he tried to show he was friendly. Alas they just attacked him instead and he decided he had to run. Winter is not winning but this will not stop him, he just decides that maybe he can try again another day instead of learning his lesson.

Screenshot_20241121_103720_531.thumb.png.0d44c05fc8aeab65455ec3a90b56695b.png

Some potential suitors again! Names I’ve given them listed in probably the wrong order: Granite (The one on the right) is the most confident, Sandstone (The one on the left) seems to mostly keep his distance, and Moonstone (The one in the center walking away) seems to be the most nervous with his emotes. All of them are names after stones because they’re from the Painted Rock Pack apparently.

I love those options so much but Winter is one I see as very picky about his choice of mate to the point it probably annoys any potential mates to no end, so off we go again!

Screenshot_20241121_105203_876.thumb.png.f8dc822dba19ced45148f52e1870dcff.png

Winter found an elk skull! If he could he would carry it around but he doesn’t want to run the risk of getting in a fight and getting severely injured while putting down the skull so he’s sad as he leaves it behind.

Screenshot_20241121_111459_181.thumb.png.0ef3eebaf7c8549ab1ad55403fffd2ae.png

Another set of potential suitors for Winter! They’re both from the Bitterroot Pack so I’ve named them Ginger and Peppercorn respectively. Unfortunately for them Winter heard a friendly wolf howl from the nearby Coyote Creek Pack territory and was more intrigued by that.

Screenshot_20241121_111758_865.thumb.png.6b92aa7a8fcfc477c58037b5b231d368.png

Winter met a wolf in the Coyote Creek pack and was intrigued but then 3 of his packmates showed up and were not happy about it so Winter decided that this was very much NOT worth getting extremely injured again and dipped, feeling quite bitter.

It’s Pigeon and Dove again! Honestly Winter would probably give the idea of courting one of them more thought this time after running around and being dissatisfied or almost mauled with his other options, but in particular he’s more interested in Dove. Dove isn’t as bold but Winter finds him to be quite sweet in his eyes.

Screenshot_20241121_114933_643.thumb.png.fa2c8aea315802060b2d1244f9abea37.png

Winter decided to give being Dove’s mate at least a good try! He just hopes that Dove is at least decent at hunting…

Screenshot_20241121_115244_895.thumb.png.b75f7b7ad69ee9c31df0baf1feb42c94.png

Dove seems like a good hunter thankfully! Progress is being made at least :D

Screenshot_20241121_120126_056.thumb.png.e82e09527afee53fe610d5b13ae059e9.png

Winter and Dove have now hunted 2 elk and 2 mule deer, I really hope this is enough hunting for courtship-

Screenshot_20241121_120950_153.thumb.png.dd74a0240ba81c093a4bffb72eee8f38.png

FINALLY! I won’t show any of the territory marking part unless I think it’s important/interesting

Screenshot_20241121_121343_497.thumb.png.63879b9517b6a12d93b1553dcd88502c.png

THE BABIES HAVE ARRIVED! Three pups, they aren’t named yet because I don’t think their colors have shown yet :3

Screenshot_20241121_130647_717.thumb.png.72374ce4d3e200bd441f326f55057e6a.png

I’ve decided on names for our three boys! Snowflake, Gull, and Turkey. Interesting notes so far is that while Gull seems to mostly be attached to Winter’s side, Turkey is almost always somewhat distanced from the den (Which does scare Winter (and me) a bit)

While going to mark territory Winter stumbled across two male dispersals from the Hayden Pack. He instantly chose to fight and chase them off, the chances of them attacking the den were low but he didn’t want to risk his own pups being put at risk.

A Buffalo Creek wolf tried to come into our territory but Winter very quickly showed that wolf (Who I’ve dubbed Bison) who’s boss. Winter also found some dispersals so Winter’s teeth are rated E for everyone today-

Next day and some of the Geode Pack tried to invade our territory for some hexes but Winter brought Dove with to make sure they wouldn’t succeed!

Screenshot_20241122_090229_558.thumb.png.f601ed29343a2b6ca901a544dbfa0852.png
Today is choose violence day I guess-

Our first attack happened (eagle attack specifically) but Winter was able to keep all his pups safe thankfully!

Two Buffalo Plateau wolves tried to attack our pups but Winter and Dove not only got them to stop but even killed one of them to send a message.

Screenshot_20241122_093033_738.thumb.png.7c6f044fcfba2ec614f025ba92971af7.png
Not a super important event or update but just…look at him :D

Moved to a new den because the fleas were at like 60% and I just wanna be sure! This den is pretty cool though! I called it Spiderwood Den because it reminds me of how spiderwood looks

New day and the Geode Pack tried a territory raid and Winter maaaay have gone overboard to prove a point. He killed two wolves with the hope they would learn their lesson at least for some time.

(FORGOT TO GET A SCREENSHOT-)

There was a coyote attack but thankfully all the pups listened with no panic so they’re all alive and well!

Screenshot_20241122_102349_758.thumb.png.93c92a2a37b2e535e96febefc4d097e3.png
The pups are all 15 pounds and we’ve found a rendezvous site! In case anyone’s concerned don’t worry all three pups are alive I just couldn’t get any to cooperate except the papa’s boy that is Gull.

Screenshot_20241123_064745_644.thumb.png.942b9f4c06b6804893b6d5556b9e6947.png
A grizzly attack happened and while everyone is alive Winter sustained both a minor AND major injury to his leg so he’ll be walking much slower until it heals

Screenshot_20241123_074509_446.thumb.png.c2ba1528cca865aa427a1a06d3cc9d39.png
Nothing as crushing as having a good hunt only to instantly get a sick pup notification- And it was Gull who got sick. Winter is going to spend a good chunk of time with Gull to try and boost his chances of recovery.

Screenshot_20241123_081506_040.thumb.png.ab8a77bcc97e51ebb141a34ff29f4448.png
Had a grizzly bear attack and guess which pup decided to pop out of the grass despite being SICK?! Thankfully Winter and Dove were able to stop the bear from grabbing the pup but still terrifying. Also Gull is currently at 40% health so I am VERY afraid for his chances-

Screenshot_20241123_084756_211.thumb.png.539778429371d649fa734e937d06e416.png

Gull is too sick to eat (though thankfully his food is pretty full) but he’s currently very weak (15% health) so Winter is worried that he won’t make it  : (

-Winter wanted to stay awake to keep Gull company but running around marking territory all day had exhausted him. His eyes drifted shut as Gull was sat between his front legs. When he awoke he was startled to find an oddly still pup causing him to nudge the sickly pup with his nose. Gull slowly opened his eyes and gave Winter a lick on the cheek before his head fell back onto the ground. Winter nudged his pup again but this time there was no response and as he listened he heard no breathing and felt no heartbeat when he pressed his face against the pup’s side.

Dove rounded up Snowflake and Turkey, distracting them with a stick to give Winter the time he needed to quietly mourn the loss without having to deal with rowdy puppies. Winter gave a look of appreciation before gently laying his head on Gull’s now motionless body in silence for a small stretch of time before letting out a sigh. He wanted to lay here and do nothing but sulk but he needed to keep the territory strong and hunt for the pups that were alive and relied on him instead of drowning himself in remorse.

He stood to his paws and nodded to tell Dove to stay with the pups, as usual, before running away from the den and to patrol the territory as a way to care for his living pups and distract him from the now dead one-

Screenshot_20241123_090554_103.thumb.png.f15f5a40b387670b1ae48be7ed15340c.png

-Right as Winter was a good distance from the den the sound of a howl caught his attention and he almost tripped in an effort to turn around as quickly as he could to go right back to the den. Right as he got close he saw a wolf bite down on Snowflake’s neck making his push himself faster before biting the wolf as hard as he could, making the wolf drop the pup. But it was too late as Snowflake’s body was too still to be alive.

Filled with rage at loosing two pups in the same day Winter attacked the wolf viciously. Even when the wolf tucked their tail between their legs and fled he didn’t stop chasing and got in bites at any chance he could until the wolf slowed down from the injuries. He snarled before sinking his teeth into the wolf’s neck and bit down until the wolf stopped moving. He dropped the wolf and it was only then he saw another wolf, a packmate if the smell was anything to go by, turn tail and quickly leave with Dove growling as he made sure the other wolf didn’t try anything.

Winter felt completely crushed. He had lost not one but two pups in a single day and one of them would’ve been preventable if he had stayed just a little longer. He didn’t feel like he had the energy to do anything, so he decided he would stay with the pups today instead of having Dove watch over them while he did various tasks. If the tasks needed doing than Dove could do it today, Winter couldn’t bear the thought of leaving Turkey today-

Screenshot_20241123_092454_700.thumb.png.19a0eced4ff78994e0c8695bc43a77ae.png

-Winter tried to play with Turkey to spend time with his last living pup but Turkey had always seen Dove as his favorite parent so he just ran over to play with his other dad instead. Winter’s slightly wagging tail stopped and he watched as Dove played with Turkey after begging for attention and a sour feeling that he identified as envy wormed its way into his chest as it reminded him of how Gull would run over to see Winter first whenever he returned from his daily tasks. Or how Snowflake would beg for food the most out of his brothers even if he had just ate.

Not wanting to show how he felt, Winter just curled up by himself to try and sleep away the swirling storm of negative feelings that felt as if it would consume him. He hoped it would pass and just needed time and proper grieving to heal. He would try his absolute best to ensure his last pup survived to adulthood-

Screenshot_20241123_093943_063.thumb.png.aa6baae0b3cbac5cb0b80cd52e3bee2a.png

Winter felt a little better when he woke up with Turkey snuggled into his side and got to play with him for a bit before he ran over to Dove again.

Turkey has reached 25 pounds and this enxt quest seems really tough and with only one pup I am a bit afraid not gonna lie-

TURKEY HUNTED HIS FIRST PREY ANIMAL! Look at the little guy go!

Screenshot_20241123_145015_916.thumb.png.4d496615cdf5bcabf870c36db11262f4.png

Not only did some Jardine Pack wolves try to take territory (Jardine Pack moved in after the Geode pack seemed to have just kinda fallen apart? Perhaps from Winter and Dove taking out one too many of their members-) but they were both listed as the pack leaders so we shall see if the Jardine pack is taken over by another member or if it just falls apart.

Screenshot_20241123_150723_106.thumb.png.9eba92719b6bfc6ad444b78035a7791a.png

Got to the Young Hunters quest! Look how big Turkey is now! Time to teach him how to hunt, and not get severely injured/die in the process!

Screenshot_20241123_153923_595.thumb.png.0b314793cb4d97b19f319d35eea915c9.png

Maybe I just haven’t experienced enough of it yet but this part feels like the most fun so far! Being nomadic and just running around the territory with your pups (or pup in this case-) makes it feel like a real wolf pack!

Screenshot_20241123_154512_583.thumb.png.f9b6389c9d7a4dbd30f88c69f8b6455f.png

Some wolves tried to steal some territory but Winter and Dove managed to fight them off, though a wolf got a few bites on Turkey. Turkey is still pretty healthy but Winter did go after one wolf to the point of killing them for hurting his pup.

Some pack wolves (Can't remember exactly which pack) invaded and were heavily going after Turkey but despite the odds of 3 vs 5 we won!

Ahh noo the pups 😭😭😭 apparently the chances of a pup dying from sickness have been heightened a lot, you can turn off pups dying from sickness but then it's smaller litters so-

I played the saga the other day but I just killed a rival wolf leader and took over their pack so I immediately skipped to the young hunters quest lmao. I didn't kill any of the pack other than the leader so it's pretty big, and yeah young hunters is probably my favourite quest so far

Oooooh that explains it because I've only had a pup die from sickness like once or maybe twice before so I was wondering if it was just bad luck or what. But heightened chances of sickness make much more sense.

Oooo that sounds pretty fun honestly! I didn't even consider that option and I might have to make a new wolf to try it out. What difficulty are you playing on and what's your wolf's name? Okay one more question actually what's the name of the pack you took over? (I'm doing easy for Winter's save file but Aphelion (A new wolf I made yesterday) is on accurate ironwolf so that's fun-)

Might make a new save file to document honestly-  I love Winter but I'm getting a bit bored of him so once I post the updates I have for his save I'll probably start a new one.

Turkey is slowly gaining the confidence to help on hunts so now he’s occasionally biting the prey when Winter and Dove hunt! Winter is very proud of his learning pup.

Some Pleasant Valley wolves (Pleasant Valley is the pack that moved in after Jardine disbanded) tried to do a territory invasion, Winter and his family managed to fight them off though! Also Turkey didn’t get as hurt as last time so he seems to be learning how to fight better.

The Coyote Creek Pack tried to attack but we won! At this point I think it’s just canon that Winter is out for blood the moment a wolf even tries to harm his pups.

Coyote Creek tried to take some of the territory but Winter and his family were vicious and took down two of their wolves. I have to wonder if Winter is going to become a legend in a bad way, he constantly kills any wolves that he deems a threat to his pups so I wonder if other wolves whisper about him.

Some Bear Creek wolves tried to take our territory but uh not only did Winter take a wolf down again but this one was a pack leader-  We’ll see if Winter has disbanded ANOTHER pack.

TURKEY HAS SURVIVED!

Springtime rolled by and you know what that means! Turkey is now a yearling and we get a new litter! And the two had 5 pups this year! (Nametags left on for this screenshot to show who’s who) And there’s no runt this year. (In case you can't read them though from left to right we have Falcon, Crystal, Sparrow, Hail, and then Pigeon) Also they had an all boy litter again which is kinda funny-

Turkey left the den (probably to hunt considering his hunger was at like 68%) so Winter is taking the time to just play with the pups and relax in the sun while Dove keeps an ear out for any signs of danger. Winter is honestly happy to have the break from constantly running around to either mark territory or hunt.

Turkey came with Winter on his usual daily tasks so the two were able to re-mark some territory and even hunt down an elk.

The Avalanche Pack  (I don’t think I ever told y’all our pack’s name whoops-) moved dens because the fleas were at 40% which isn’t that bad but better safe than sorry

My wolfs name is Vi, and he's continuing the family tree of all my other wolves, on easy difficulty. I think it was Rescue Creek I took over, I can't check now

Help i tried accurate ironwood before the update and im on my like third try good luck man 😭

That's a pretty cool name! Hope your wolf's litter survives and does well :D

It's rough especially when you're like me and love your speedy wolves with -1 strength or the one I made the other day with +2 speed but -1 strength and -1 health (I may have made a mistake with that one I am...struggling-)

Say hello to Magpie! A wolf whose name fits perfectly with her intelligent yet cheeky nature. She loves messing with others and anything she likes she will try to take, not to mention how territorial she can be about anything she deems as hers. This attitude had gotten her a few scars with stories to tell, like her tail which got bitten off by a grizzly that she pestered a little too much or the faint scar over her eye from a cougar she failed to scare off a carcass. Ever since she could leave her pack she took the chance simply due to wanting to explore and perhaps find a soul that either understood her or accepted her teasing and territorial nature.

Screenshot_20241125_032610_439.thumb.png.5271f51a1aa1bf77e6f644ec2c3a6458.png
Magpie found some mule deer and a growl of her stomach reminded her that she should probably eat. So after dancing around the mother mule deer’s kicks she found herself with a fawn to fill her stomach. Though her attention was drawn to the weird ground that she ran over while hunting. It felt like rock but it didn’t look like it? As her gaze wandered she noticed it seemed to be going in a certain direction, filled with curiosity she followed it to see what it could possibly lead to.

Following the weird ground led her to a place that was even weirder. Lots of square…things were around with many different colors. She noticed a hole in a few of them and quickly went through it before being even more confused than before. There were a bunch of objects she had never seen in her life and sniffing them provided no more explanation than seeing them did. Maybe these were odd dens? She couldn’t deny that it was interesting though and she decided sticking around to explore a little longer wouldn’t hurt.

Screenshot_20241125_034230_397.thumb.png.c407edff7184dd953e31ad5a8379e366.png
She poked her nose through the entrance of another ‘den’ and when there was no sign of another animal she walked through and looked around. So many weird objects but also so exciting! She spent some time sniffing around before her attention was drawn towards one object. Upon closer inspection she noted that it was soft and quickly jumped on top of it only to notice that laying on it was extremely comfortable. Her exhaustion from the earlier hunt caught up to her and she decided to sleep on this weirdly comfortable thing.

Screenshot_20241125_034840_297.thumb.png.aa5090f5c951b8ea6809765f2bb40d2c.png
Magpie pushed herself way harder than was probably healthy or smart to ensure that she hunted two elk in a single day. Despite her body yelling at her she’s quite proud of her work and believes that she’s the best hunter ever. So she eats her meal with a bit of an ego today.

Screenshot_20241125_040418_632.thumb.png.8eef8f63c79dabae8d4d5c4cf372f9fc.png
Magpie ran into the Lucky Pack territory with abandon after getting a howl back that didn’t sound threatening, searching for the source of the howl. She ended up seeing four wolves but one seemed interested after she showed she wasn’t a threat. She playfully bowed and was friendly so it was fun!…For a little bit anyways. After a bit she felt herself grow bored and quickly made a choice. This might anger these wolves but hey this wasn’t fun anymore so she darted off, taking the pack wovles by surprise as she just left the territory. They then chased her after seeing how dejected their packmate looked. But unfortunately for them Magpie has become adept at dodging angry wolves so she darted between attempted bites and left the territory unscathed.

While sniffing around the edges of the Van Winkle’s pack territory another dispersal came up to Magpie causing her curiosity to shift over to the new wolf. At first he seemed to keep his distance but after some confident tail wags and play bows he came closer and the two started to play. Magpie was less interested in him but more so in the odd object around his neck. She didn’t voice that thought and instead ran around and enjoyed some fun. But as per usual for her she grew bored and, without a word or explanation, picked the hare she hunted back up and walked off leaving a confused wolf in her wake.

Magpie sighed after filling her stomach with her latest hunt. The hunt was exciting but now it was over and she was back to being deathly bored. Seeing that dispersal was the last fun thing she did as her howls went with no answer leaving her dissatisfied. She had been chasing around coyotes to try and pass the time, but even that was getting boring so she hunted to fill her stomach but now that the hunt was over she grumbled and took a nap.

Screenshot_20241125_045239_081.thumb.png.fabca6d0ef1efaf99896a33e957e76a7.png
She was woken up to the sound of barking and the sight of a pack of what almost looked like wolves but obviously weren’t. Then she noticed cougar waiting in the distance and she felt her tail slightly wag as she realized this was just the excitement she asked for. But after a few bites they simply turned tail and ran, but the more odd part was seeing the cougar run too.

Screenshot_20241125_045629_698.thumb.png.efc96045f14afcc58334d569facb4f3c.png
It was only after hearing a snarl behind her that she looked and saw a group of dispersal wolves, though these ones seemed…hostile. At first she tried to play as she would love to run around at the moment but it fell flat and only seemed to further anger them. One of them chased her while the other two focused on the cougar and at first Magpie thought it was a fun game until the other wolf bite her leg hard. Magpie snarled and freed her leg before turning around and biting the other wolf’s neck making the other wolf whimper, once Magpie let go the other wolf turned tail and fled. It seemed that the other wolves had lost their own battle against the cougar.

Most wolves would have ran off after seeing a 2 vs 1 go badly but Magpie isn’t most wolves. She took a chance while the cougar was eating to get a bite in before letting go and darting off with a grin. She danced along that line of biting and running away, though a swipe knocked her off balance for a moment, until the cougar seemed to decide it wasn’t worth the annoyance and ran off leaving Magpie to have the carcass to herself again. Her tail was wagging as she realized that she wasn’t that badly hurt considering the amount of fights she just took on.

Screenshot_20241125_050319_792.thumb.png.9a0d6df388db3b2f4ed5be49799e9e74.png
Magpie thought this day couldn’t get any more exciting but she ended up stumbling across a dispersal! She quickly noticed that she seemed a bit shy from the way she refused to make eye contact was any indicator but she play bowed and ran around until she was able to convince her to roll onto her back. She was thrilled and ran around her and played in the fields, noting that this one at least seemed a little more interesting than the others she’s met. She was fun for a while but the familiar boredom soon washed over her. Though she did say goodbye this time unlike the last few wolves she met.

Screenshot_20241125_051100_570.thumb.png.a4abb88a1d7cb54883a43d2828ae933f.png
Magpie was shocked when right before wanting to take a nap she found a few more dispersals. She greeted them and played with them but found them to be more boring than any other wolf she’d met, especially with how forward one of them was. Getting in her face and getting way too close for her liking, she prefers to initiate contact so this wolf quickly got on her nerves and she growled at them before leaving quickly.

Screenshot_20241125_052044_417.thumb.png.1d9d95afebdd984a461d32a22fdbbf44.png
A few days later she wandered into the Van Winkle Pack territory on purpose and snooped around until a few wolves from the pack found her. She tried to play but that wasn’t exactly going to go well as they nipped at her causing her to run around and agitate them for a short time before turning around and leaving with laughter on the tip on her tongue as she did.

Screenshot_20241125_053116_856.thumb.png.abc759d65d084d268327c66cbc618f00.png
Magpie was momentarily puzzled as she woke up to the sound of growling but opening her eyes reminded her that ‘Oh yeah I fell asleep a bit too close to the Lost River Pack’s border’. She tried to play despite knowing it wouldn’t work because it seemed pretty fun. The reaction was expected, being bitten at and driven out but at least she was energized and awake without a boring dragging day!

Accurate Ironwolf hours-

-

Taking a step onto the new area, Lightning couldn’t help but feel afraid. They had survived this long but now they dispersed from their family pack and were already regretting it but they doubted their family would just welcome them back with ease. Not to mention that they were kind of lost so even if they wanted to try they couldn’t find their way home anyways. With a deep breath they started walking into the new area with unease.

Screenshot_20241127_040902_217.thumb.png.1477a0ea8cf7db75d7314922eb7c29b5.png
Most wolves would prefer a nice elk for a meal but Lightning felt it was best to just go for the easier meal that won’t kick you with sharp hooves and break something. Hares were fast but if there was anything that Lightning did have confidence in it was their speed and agility so hunting the small prey was easy and almost relaxing to the anxious wolf.

Screenshot_20241127_041302_965.thumb.png.e9418afd8b3987f2fc0538cd936deb3f.png
To say they were shocked would be an understatement. Lightning was expecting to almost never catch an elk but they saw a herd while running about and decided to see if it was worth it to try. After a long time of chasing after the herd they were able to single out a weak calf that was running far behind the rest of the herd and after avoiding the mother’s wrath they got a good meal out of it which they were thrilled about.

Screenshot_20241127_042410_293.thumb.png.9d1b1829374c59b625268d61d67cea20.png
A few more days later and Lightning felt like they were actually starting to understand the solo hunting thing. They used the same strategy, follow behind for long enough to tire out the elk until they notice a calf that’s falling much further behind and go after that one.

Screenshot_20241127_043610_611.thumb.png.0b509904967695e4cda2fc7f681a05c4.png
Lightning almost jumped from a dispersal suddenly appearing as they feared the worst but the wolf seemed friendly and even interested in them. After a small stretch of keeping a distance Lightning slowly approached the wolf with cautious interest. The other wolf wagged his tail and rolled onto his back to show he wasn’t a threat and that made Lightning dare to approach closer with a nervous sniff. It took several minutes of the other wolf being friendly and calm before Lightning started to really relax. Lightning carefully asked what the other wolf’s name was after giving their own, which let them know that the other wolf’s name was Bolt. After another small stretch of relaxing Bolt asked if Lightning wanted to go on a trial to see if they would be compatible and after some thinking Lightning accepted.
