Andromeda_ Posted February 5, 2025 Posted February 5, 2025 THE GREAT RETURN (i totally didn’t scream at you to come back on discord)
Loxfeaf Posted February 6, 2025 Author Posted February 6, 2025 ARTIFICER SPOILERS! Idk why I made this. My brain had idea so I naturally agreed to it. Also I ate a random art style because yes 1 2

Loxfeaf Posted February 6, 2025 Author Posted February 6, 2025 Red Lizard! I tried to make it as realistic as possible. I decided to make it based off the Galloping Crocodile everyone’s talking about since Red Lizards are fast and can climb (I imagine it has talons similar to a lace monitor), I added some decoration to its head like a warning to predators (occasional king vultures) and prey of how dangerous it is. I gave it a thick tongue so it can kind of become thinner as it shoots out like a chameleon. I made it more muscular and powerful, sort of like a polar bear. This is definitely an apex predator. 1 1

Stranger Posted February 6, 2025 Posted February 6, 2025 Your art is actually so edible how do you draw animals so well 😭😭

If you draw animals like, 5 times a day for 10 years and study their anatomy, you’re going to get better. I recently studied their joints, and I think that was pretty important. 1

(Elaborating further in case anyone’s interested) For example, I discovered that quadrupedal animals (Foxes, wolves, cats) have their elbows pretty high up on their forelegs, while our arms have our elbows seemingly closer to the middle. And our wrists are pretty close to our fingers, while cats have their wrists higher up. These things are important when drawing creature legs, since a lot of close mammal relatives to those creatures have the same features and can be used for mythical creatures like dragons or griffins. Wings of Fire dragons seem to use the same foreleg anatomy as cats, and the realistic version seems to have similar toes to cats, but longer and with larger claws. 3

(More biology stuff than drawing) (Rainworld spoilers) I find Slugcat design very interesting, actually. A soft body? Perfect for surviving most falls, flexible, and good for movement. I assume a lot of them have somewhat wet skin, which is understandable for a world of rain. They have thin arms which they could tuck into their bodies while rolling and might not need much muscle in them to throw spears, and they are primarily bipedal so they don’t need their arms for walking. Their back legs are large, allowing them to move quickly and do powerful jumps. But just like humans, their tails are pretty useless, even for balance. Spearmaster is well designed for long distance travelling, light and seemingly thin. But they probably wouldn’t be suited for staying in one place for long, since they’d likely end up hunting a lot of the creatures into migrating away after a few cycles with how much it takes to fill them up. Artificer has an interesting design. I’ve seen theories that Artificer has an explosive substance in their saliva, allowing her to convert spears and rocks into explosives. And she can explosively propel herself. Usually only sea creatures can propel themselves in such large and sharp bursts using jets. The fact that explosives don’t harm her could be maybe similar to what woodpeckers use to protect their skulls, which is wrapping their tongue around it. The rest of her body could just be very flexible and just go with the explosion. She can’t go into water, which makes sense if her explosive saliva reacts to too much water. Hunter is pretty basic. The theory that they attach a spear to a chunk of rot on their back is pretty realistic to be honest, and there’s not much else to it. Gourmand is just very large and heavy. But a bit of that fat would be muscle with how strong their single spear is. Survivor and Monk are just… slugcats. Rivulet is very fast, but there’s not much reason why unless all their power goes into their legs, and has a weaker spear throw. Their ruffles and skin are quite bright, like a lot of fish, and their complex eyes imply they have eyesight similar to ours, so not very good. They likely use their ruffles to navigate underwater and their eyes on land. They would swim using their tail as well as their limbs, but would still probably slow them down a bit on land. Saint has a lot of fur, which is good for a cold environment. Since they primarily move with their tongue, it makes sense that they wouldn’t be faster than average on their legs. I don’t understand the tongue very much, as frogs and chameleons aren’t adapted to cold temperatures and will either die or freeze, which is what Saint does. They can’t throw spears, so their arms are practically useless for anything but climbing poles. 1

Loxfeaf Posted February 7, 2025 Author Posted February 7, 2025 More Lizards. Blue Lizard! I made it based on a gecko, seeing as they walk on most surfaces and aren’t very strong. I decided to give them the second karma ranking, lust, because my brain said so. Yellow Lizard! I didn’t really know what creature to use as inspiration, so I just used the best anatomy I could. The markings are slightly inspired by Seawings from Wings of Fire, and the lines on their antenna can change and make noises to communicate. They’re heavier than a normal Lizard, but average speed. I gave them the 3rd karma symbol, companionship. Caramal Lizard! Was originally going to be based off a Komodo dragon, but I really wanted to show the power in its jaws and made it more hippo-like. It’s very large and has very powerful legs. I gave it the fourth karma symbol, gluttony. 1 2
Loxfeaf Posted February 7, 2025 Author Posted February 7, 2025 The first Karma symbol mean violence btw
Loxfeaf Posted February 7, 2025 Author Posted February 7, 2025 Strawberry Lizard. I didn’t really base it off anything, but I did try searching up cold weather lizards for inspiration. It looks like one of those mochi balls. I chose the fifth symbol (Survival) for this one because of their durability. I did also add a tail similar to a Sundew. 1 1
Loxfeaf Posted February 7, 2025 Author Posted February 7, 2025 Pink Lizor! Idk what’s going on with its back feet. I added a decorative tail because I could, and I think pinks are already friend shaped enough to not change much. The 6th Karma symbol apparently means enlightenment/tranquility/knowing according to something I found online 2 1
Loxfeaf Posted February 7, 2025 Author Posted February 7, 2025 Salamander! It’s inspired by early amphibians as well as axolotls. The 7th Karma symbol apparently means Discovery/Resolve/preparing (originally was going to use this for Cyan) 1 1
Loxfeaf Posted February 7, 2025 Author Posted February 7, 2025 Black Lizard. I was inspired by moles and weird wormy lizards and snakes that live underground. I tried to give it moist skin to show how it lives underground its whole life. The symbol means Decision/precipice/results 1 1
