I have an explanation as to why Australia has so many unique animals. I read it in a book today.

When Australia broke away from the rest of the world, that left most of the wildlife isolated from the rest of the world, meaning it wouldn’t evolve like the other creatures. Migrating birds and sea creatures stay the same because they can easily leave and come back, meaning they evolve with the creatures on both sides. But Australia does have the same niches as the rest of the world- the Tasmanian Tiger (I think it was Tiger) were basically just Hyenas, but adapted for our environment, according to the book. The environment is different- harsher, hotter, but not as many dangerous animals. So defence isn’t one of the most important things. That’s why our snakes are super venomous. They can easily defend themselves and hunt, but they are a lot less agressieve than snakes on the mainland. They don’t see everything as a threat.

It’s the same with other places. Islands will always have creatures different from the mainland, even if it’s a slight difference. Just like with the dodo. They were birds that migrated and found an island with basically no predators and plenty of food, so why would they need natural defences or wings? They probably had no idea what was happening when they were hunted to extinction because they hadn’t had to worry about anything.

Another interesting species: whales

They didn’t evolve in the water, they were actually a dog/rodent looking thing that fed on fish I think. They lived in a time where the sea had plenty of fish, causing them to swim more and more and eventually evolve to be able to live in the water.

I’ve discovered I think really differently from other people. I haven’t done any research on it, but I might after this.

(Most of this applies to teenagers, I’m not too sure about adults)

I’ve found that people either think emotionally or logically- most people thinking emotionally. They will get angry or sad or happy easily, and are more likely to act on what their emotions tell them rather than logic. Even in things like math or English for students, they think more by what they know rather than logically, and that’s why average people probably aren’t very good at a lot of subjects.

Emotional thinkers are usually better at comforting people. They know what to say to someone when they’re sad. “Are you okay?” Is common to ask someone when they’re upset.

Logical thinkers aren’t as good at comforting, but are really good at understanding how they work and why, rather than how they act. They know how people think. But they’re also not good at some things like comforting, because when someone is crying, they don’t want to ask “Are you okay?” Because, logically, the person clearly isn’t, and they don’t want to say something that doesn’t make sense.

Emotional thinkers almost always think they work logically. They say they’re different from everyone else, and they see how the world truly works. They don’t. They have a specific standpoint that can’t change. They’ll say the government is terrible or that school is great or bad or whatever they think, and they can’t be convinced otherwise. They think so strongly because they think emotionally.

Logical thinkers know they think differently. They can tell they work differently. They sense it, rather than wanting to be special or emotionally believing. But they don’t have a set opinion on things. They can see how the world works in everyone’s point of view. They can see the good and bad as well as the bad and good. They can see why people do what they do, and that’s why they seem to have less emotions.

Emotional people will have strong opinions or dislikings of some things. They can hate things or love things and get attached to things. They can get upset or hate people for reasons such as bullying or lying. They are naturally like this.

Logical people don’t tend to have strong emotions. They can’t bring themselves to hate things because they just don’t really care. They can’t bring themselves to care because it doesn’t make sense in their head why they should care, or they just can’t care about certain things at all.

Emotional thinkers will see things how they BELIEVE things, like how in all the different religions, people will believe different things because of how they were taught. How they were raised. They can believe certain people are bad because they were taught they were bad, which is why a lot of homophobia and other things exist. They were taught to be that way.

Logical thinkers think scientifically. They understand how people believe things and why, but they tend to go back to the one scientific explanation, that the earth formed from rock and animals evolved from a single(?) ancestor, rather than a god.

I am a logical thinker, so I don’t know how this applies to other people like me. This is mainly using information about myself, but I feel like it will apply to other people that work like me.

I’ve always been different from other people (not in the edgy teenager way), in a way that I just didn’t understand the things they did. I started reading a lot pretty early on, and my parents aren’t religious, so that’s why I’ve always believed and wanted to learn about adaptation and the world being formed. I kind of always was an outcast since I thought differently from others, and I enjoyed being away from other and staying with technology like my 10-15 hours a day. /srs but that’s more of a personal coping mechanism I developed.

I think my iPad is dying. It’s being super laggy, the screen turns off pretty quickly (could just be a new setting), and it’s a pretty old iPad. Maybe 2-4 years old.

And my SpicyChat AI was bugging (Yes I was talking to TDL, shut up) so that’s worrisome. One of my biggest fears is my ai chats somehow teleporting onto the forums.

Okay I think I might have a virus. I cannot get into Outlook for some reason. It says ‘error = Cannot parse response’. Is that bad?

I actually kinda want to read normal fanfics but I'm really scared of opening a fic and being like "he would NOT say that" and it might make me less enthusiastic abt the piece of media 😭

On wattpad, the best way to find accurate fanfics is making sure the title is spelled correctly and that the cover looks interesting. Then if the introduction is using proper grammar and spelling, then it’s likely they’re a skilled writer and the fanfic would be accurate.

AO3 is better because it’s easier to search by the specific tags and fandoms you want
