Sleepy Reeds - OC comic

I've been meaning to start a comic involving some nicheling OCs for literally years, and I finally gathered the motivation to start working on it!

So, introducing to you all, Sleepy Reeds - a comic centering one of my swamp Goddesses, Vek. (a bit of spoilers but I think I posted her reference in a different post somewhere so it's not hard to find out she's a goddess.)

Each page will have it's own comment below this post, with a transcript underneath it. (And certain warnings if necessary.) In general, there are a few warnings I wanted to put here so everyone knows what they're getting into if they decide to read this:

- Violence, blood, death, etc. (following the forum rules of course, nothing is explicit)

- Possible eyestrain? These are toxic-bodied nichelings so their skin color might hurt someones eyes.

- A whoooole lot of made up stuff, like fan-made genes, plants, animals, etc. (You're free to ask about something if it's confusing/new!)

- Some random changes in the formatting? I didn't test anything before I started working, so the dialogue bubbles, page size, etc. might change from page to page. It will get better as I go on!

I'll work on making a title page later, so for now, enjoy!

(Transcript:

Alisma: Bulrush! These two need medical attention immediately!

Bulrush: ...You expect me to help after what you three just did?)

 

(Transcript:

Alisma: Don't play with me! You know it's against the law to deny care to an officer!

Bulrush: You mean the law that let you kill the mother of my kip?

Alisma: Oh please, you two weren't even mates!

Bulrush: That's irrelevant and you know it!)

(Transcript:

Alisma: If her mother wasn't a thief, it wouldn't be necessary!

Bulrush: If you didn't hoard all the food, we wouldn't have to steal any!

Vek: Papa? Why yelling...?

Bulrush: Oh, sweetheart... Everything's okay Vek, we're sorry for waking you. Since you're up, do you want to help Papa with some healing?

Vek: Yay!)

 

(Transcript:

Bulrush: Do you remember what these are and what they're for?

Vek: Mhm!

Bulrush: Good! Then let me know if you need any help!

Alisma: Of course Bulrush would let a kip take care of me...

Vek: Quifu for bleeding...)

 

(Transcript:

Vek: blegghh taste bad : (

Alisma: How ironic, the same claws who made this wound are mending it.

Alisma: You'd make a terrible healer. I'll have to make a note to make you an officer.

Vek: Eat these please!

Alisma: You have her strength. You could have her anger. You'll fit her role nicely. But I know your father will take issue with it.)

(Transcript:

Alisma: She put up a good fight, took an officer with her unfortunately. I bet you could take three.

Bulrush: Okay, I think that's enough for now, good job Vek! Why don't you go get some hiasai for Gerardii?

Vek: Okay!!

Bulrush and Alisma: ...)

 

(Transcript:

Alisma: I'd suggest for the sake of you and your kip, you refrain from speaking to me and my officers like that again. Do I make myself clear?

Bulrush: For the sake of you and your officers, I'd refrain from threatening Vek, or any kip in this camp for that matter. I know more about poisons than you do about antidotes.)

 

(Transcript: Nothing to transcribe, but imagine they're all snoring.)

Decided to finish and post this while I'm working on the next chapter. I had to move into my new apartment recently so I'm behind on pages by like 4 days so I apologize in advance, but now that my laptop is set up it's time to work !!

I also wanted to say thank you !! I didn't know if anyone had actually worked on a Niche comic before? But I'm glad you like it!!

(SORRY THIS IS TAKING SO LONG i got sucked into making references for a different story, but as an update- i finally finished the line art for part 1 of chapter 1!! so now were onto coloring! which shouldn't take me too much longer!)
