'Dragons of the Heartstones'- A little bit of a side project.

This is the thing that's been in the back of my mind for weeks and every time I think about it I'm like 'one day I'll pitch this stuff to a studio and it'll be a real animated show'

ANYWAYS- because of this throughout the post I will be reffering to it as if it is as show (mentioning episodes and all that)

'Dragons of the Heartstones' is a project inspired by Wings of Fire, My Little Pony, and The Owl House.

The series takes place in a fantasy world inhabited by four dragon races: Wyverns, Lindwyrms, Amphitheatres, and Drakes. 

It focuses on four protagonists- one of each dragon type- and their adventures.

 

Lore/Worldbuilding

Long ago, all dragons were under a single four-legged, two-winged species. That was, until, a mysterious dragon called The Splitter broke the Dragon Diamond into four parts, sacraficing herself in the process. 

Today, four gemstones exist as the most preciously-gaurded treasure of each species. Each dragon has a piece of a gemstone embedded in their chests, it's colour signigying their species.

 

Dragon Races

Wyverns

Set-Up: Two legs, two wings

Biome: Mountains, highlands.

Gem: Ruby

Lindwyrms

Set-Up: Two legs, no wings.

Biome: Oceans, rivers and wetlands.

Gem: Sapphirre

Amphitheres

Set-Up: No legs, six wings (this is why the lindwyrms don't get any the amphitheres hoarded all the wings for themselves /j)

Biome: Jungle/dense forests

Gem: Emerald

Drakes

Set-Up: Four legs, no wings.

Biome: Jungle/dense forests

Gem: Topaz

 

The general relations between these four species are quite tense. They tend not to cross borders or trust outsiders.

Protagonists

Concept sketch (full refs for everyone are planned!)

Sizes are only vague and just as an order of size. Differences in height will likeley be greater.

Winola

Species: Wyvern

Voiceclaim: Willow from The Owl House.

Despite being the youngest of the group, Winola is still the tallest, and quite protective towards her friends. She's a very calm character, but also shy, being self-concious of her size, which she feels is an inconvinience for other dragons. The reason for her protectiveness is a result of being the oldest of five kids. 

Leyden

Species: Lindwyrm

Voiceclaim: Undecided

Leyden is a nonchalant and sarcastic character. But below the surface, he's morbidly curious, fascinated by the culture and history of other species. Out of all of the group he's the most laid-back, preffering indoor hobbies such as reading and art.

Ava

Species: Amphithetre

Voiceclaim: Maybe Catra from She-Ra

Ava is reckless, impulsive, and loves action. In the beginning of the series, she'd probably be a bit rude, but then tame that side of her eventually- but keep the constant chaos. She is the daughter of the chief of an Amphithetre flock, and was taught to be a very skilled flier and warrior. 

Derwin

Species: Drake

Voiceclaim: Undecided

The true chaotic neutral of the group, Derwin is an alchemist who comes from a poor family, obtaining ingredients through stealing or scams and using them to make (often illegal) potions. His actions may sometimes be morally questionable, but he's still on the good side.

 

My idea for the dynamic of this group is Ava and Derwin running off to cause some chaos while Winola follows them to make sure they don't get themselves killed in some absurdly stupid way, and Leyden is in the background like "oh bother, not this crap again"

 

Plot

The first season would be a bit more episodic, focusing on the gang getting into shennanigans, but still following a set timeline where the effects of previous episodes are still clear. Eventually, things start to all connect together as the main antagonists start to be introduced.

The goal of these characters is unity and equality- however, they believe that equality can only be achieved if everyone is the same, so their goal is to steal the four gemstones and bring back the original race.

In the finale of the first season, the villians manage to get hold of one of the stones, and the group has another of them.

Season two is a race to secure and protect the remaining two gems before anyone else takes hold of them. By this point, the audience knows the exact purpose of the antagonists, but the protagonists only know that they're stealing national treasures.

In the finale, the antagonists briefly succeed, but it only results in chaos. (everyone is a white-gemmed four-limbed two-winged dragon for a bit), until the gem is split again (I haven't thought this out much ok)

Anyways in the end, the four species exist again, but the relationships between them are more positive, working together with eachother's strengths and weaknesses. The moral of the story is that we can still be equal and work together, even if everyone is different. 

 

Locations

The general world of the show is divided into a few biomes, each inhabited by different species. However, there are a few other specific locations that appear in the show: 

Home Base

The cave that the four protagonists find in the beginning and and up spending a lot of time in, located by a waterfall on the edge of the mountains that overlooks a lot of the continent. 

Dealer's Den

A travelling market on the edge of the desert, mainly used by Drakes (Derwin has a stand here), but many other species come here too. Comes into season 1 plots especially, it's a good oppurtunity for the characters to meet others or get their claws on random items.

So yes I. Came up with this apparently. I'd like people to interact with this so like. Which character is your favourite? Do you have voiceclaim ideas for Derwin and Leyden? Would you watch this on the 1% chance that I actually both pitch it, and suceed?

I love this idea so much lol- I would totally watch this if it became an actual show. My favourite characters right now are the chaos children (Ava and Derwin) because ✨️chaos✨️

tbf this is every artists dream I think, so you're real for that

Maybe for Leyden's voiceclaim it could be Viktor from arcane, minus the Czech accent? For Ava I think Catra works but idk I think Jinx from Arcane might suit too. Maybeeee Double trouble from Shera for Derwin.

Funnily enough I've already chosen Viktor as a voiceclaim for an unrelated OC (Lucky) 

 

I'll check out some clips for the other two, see if it suits them
