Moonlights_Masquerade Posted October 31 Author Posted October 31 New Fantribe for the rp! They are called MireWings. Physical Characteristics: MireWings possess a formidable physique, (similar to Mudwings) yet with distinct adaptations for their swampy domain. Their most defining feature is their elongated, powerfully built snout, mirroring the fearsome jaws of a crocodile. This allows for a vice-like grip on prey and a formidable defense. Their bodies are encased in thick, plate-like scales that offer significant protection against both predators and the harsh environment. These armored plates are often a dull, earthy hue, ranging from deep browns and murky greens to muted greys, providing excellent camouflage within the marshes. Their wings, while structured similarly to other dragon species, are edged with sharp, serrated membranes. This unique feature serves a dual purpose: it can inflict painful lacerations during aerial combat or when used in close-quarters scuffles, and it also aids in steering through the dense vegetation and fog of their habitat. A notable, and terrifying, offensive capability of the MireWing is their ability to spit a potent, hot, corrosive acid. This acid, when expelled with precision, can dissolve flesh and armor alike. Furthermore, this same acidic compound possesses the ability to rapidly harden upon contact with air, forming a glassy, crystalline structure. This crystalline residue can effectively trap unfortunate prey, immobilizing and slowly suffocating them within its unyielding embrace. Their feet are broad and webbed, making them adept swimmers and allowing for effortless movement across muddy terrain and through shallow waters. Habitat and Ecology: MireWings are exclusively found in vast, sprawling marshlands, fens, and wetlands. These environments are characterized by stagnant water, dense reeds, submerged logs, and an abundance of decaying organic matter. They thrive in the humid, often murky conditions, using the waterways for both hunting and travel. While they are excellent swimmers and their webbed feet allow for efficient navigation, MireWings are not entirely aquatic. They do not possess the ability to breathe underwater and require frequent trips to the surface for air. Their nests are typically constructed from mud, reeds, and scavenged debris, often built on small, elevated islands or in the hollows of ancient, waterlogged trees. Behavior and Temperament: MireWings are generally solitary and territorial creatures, preferring to patrol their chosen marsh sections alone. They are known for their patience and cunning, often employing ambush tactics to capture prey. Their crocodile-like snouts are perfectly suited for lying in wait, partially submerged, with only their eyes and nostrils exposed, until an unsuspecting creature ventures too close. While they share similarities in build and resilience with MudWings, MireWings are often perceived as more aggressive and less prone to cooperation. Their territorial nature can lead to violent confrontations with other MireWings and even encroaching dragon tribes. Despite their formidable nature, they are not inherently malicious, but rather driven by survival instincts and a deep-seated possessiveness of their marshy territories. Diet: Their diet consists primarily of large marsh-dwelling creatures, such as giant amphibians, water birds, fish, and any unfortunate terrestrial animals that stray too near the water's edge. Their acidic spit is particularly effective in subduing larger, more dangerous prey, and the hardening crystal substance ensures that even if their initial attack falters, the prey is unlikely to escape. Abilities: Acid Spit: Produces and expels a hot, corrosive acid capable of dissolving flesh and armor. Crystallizing Acid: The expelled acid can rapidly harden into a crystal-like substance, trapping prey. Armored Body Plates: Provides significant protection against physical attacks. Serrated Wing Edges: Aids in aerial maneuvering and can inflict lacerations. Webbed Feet: Excellent for swimming and navigating muddy terrain. Camouflage: Dull, earthy coloration provides effective blending with marsh environments. Weaknesses: Not Fully Aquatic: Requires regular access to air for breathing. Slower on Dry Land: While capable of movement, their heavy build and webbed feet make them less agile on firm ground compared to other dragon species. Vulnerability to Extreme Heat/Fire: While their acid is hot, their scales are not as inherently fire-resistant as some other dragon tribes. 1
Moonlights_Masquerade Posted November 3 Author Posted November 3 fantribe #2 Bonewings General Description: BoneWings are a striking and somewhat unsettling dragon species, characterized by their dark, sleek scales that starkly contrast with the prominently visible bone structure beneath. This skeletal framework, often seen outlining ribs, joints, and other areas, creates a unique and formidable appearance. Their eyes possess an inner luminescence, glowing with a spectrum of colors that can range from eerily pale, icy blues to deep, ominously bloodred hues, reflecting the individual dragon's disposition or lineage. Their build is exceptionally sleek and agile, allowing for swift movements and efficient aerial maneuvers. Abilities: Smoke Cloaking: BoneWings possess the remarkable ability to generate and manipulate a thick veil of smoke. This allows them to obscure themselves from sight, disorient opponents, or create an atmospheric presence that enhances their intimidating aura. Regenerative Dismemberment: A unique and unnerving trait of the BoneWing is their capacity to break off and regrow body parts. This can be utilized defensively, to escape grapples or shed a limb that has been injured or is about to be compromised, or offensively, in conjunction with their other abilities. The regrowth process is efficient, allowing them to recover from significant trauma. Temperament and Behavior: Despite the unsettling visual cues and the palpable chill they are said to impart upon those in their presence, BoneWings are known for a deep-seated loyalty and dependability. They are fierce and unyielding when protecting their own or those they deem worthy of their guardianship. However, this protective nature is tempered by a profound respect for all life. They operate under a strict principle of not letting any part of a kill go to waste, demonstrating a practical and perhaps even spiritual connection to the cycle of life and death. They possess a clear affinity for combat, enjoying the thrill of a good fight, and also have a penchant for collecting shiny objects and small bones, which they use for both casual decoration and more significant ritualistic purposes. Cultural Notes: The chill associated with BoneWings is more than just a physical sensation; it is often interpreted as a sign of their formidable power and the respect they command. Their loyalty makes them valuable allies, but their ferocity means they are dangerous enemies. The ritualistic use of bones in their collections suggests a complex relationship with mortality and perhaps ancestor veneration or a way of remembering those who have fallen. Their resourcefulness in utilizing every part of a kill speaks to a pragmatic and possibly ancient survival instinct. They will also paint bold colors onto themselves for ritualistic/battle purposes.

Old threads don't get locked here so it's fine to revive them. And I doubt it's deleted, that'd cause a pretty big fuzz considering many people's writings would get deleted along with it. Let me go see if I can dig it up
