Ticks?

I was wondering maybe you guys can make a new creature that represents ticks. It is like the leaches except they are not found in the water and they are (possibly) harder to kill because ticks in real life are almost impossible to squish. They can be mainly found near trees. Nichelings with beak or nimble fingers can collect food out of them.

Maybe instead of near trees, you have a very small possibility of picking them up when you walk through the tall grass without picking it up first? Perhaps they spawn in regrowing grass?

maybe the tribe mates with beak or nimble fingers can remove them and get food

thanks also maybe bird beaked creatures can "preen themselves" also can the ticks drown?
