Trivial trivia, interesting interactions, useless uses

While playing and browsing (the game and the forum, respectively), I came across a few things that seemed rather confidential but could stand to be more widespread, especially when we do not seem to have a handy manual to speak of, yet. If it does exist, do let me know of it!

I do not hand out certificates of property: anyone believing that they were the first one to discover part or all of the hereunder list can congratulate themself in silence, and nobody will mind their contributing to enlightening their peers.

Additions are welcome, of course.

In no particular order:

Everything from logic operations (OR, buffer...) to movement to TNT explosions is processed all at once, every 1/60th of a second. Meaning that, in the very first of these 1/60th your drone is live, no signal has been emitted yet, so all logic gates have their inputs OFF; second moment, logic gates have processed these inputs and act accordingly (NOT gate had input OFF, so it now has output ON), and sensors/buttons send their outputs; third moment, logic gates have processed these sensor signals (and the NOT gate input can be ON, so output OFF). Basically, if stuff goes awry before you could hit a key, check the NOT, NOR, NAND and XNOR gates! It also means that you can outpace an explosion and that stuff usually goes wrong at high speeds (outpacing the game is a thing, too).

These sorts of struts you see that connect parts to each other are not extensible, at all. Connection points to components can still rotate. Proof below, with the L-shaped block's connection to the drone core not varying an inch, even with all these thrusters.

Batteries and fuel tanks deplete in the order you placed them: first placed battery, then second, etc. This applies to other appliances as well: when resources are lacking, the first placed components will work first, and leave others with possibly nothing. Proof below, same settings on both devices, the craft freezes because the cooler was placed first.

A frozen thruster can not work any more, but all other appliances still behave as normal (seemingly). Below, a frozen impulse giver sending signals to a LED and a frozen factory.

Magnets can repel enemy and friendly projectiles, be it pellets, rockets, grenades... or even TNT. Yes, in the future TNT is made of iron.

Distance is measured from centre of the component, and a surface unit (small squares in the background of the editor; alternatively, a small basic block) measures 2 distance units in length and width.

Speaking of distances, the larger fuel tanks feature a larger explosion when destroyed. In order of size (S, M, L, XL), said ranges are 3, 5, 10, 10 (from centre, remember). Meaning that all components which edges/outlines are within range will be hit.

To access your saves, on a windows operating system, open the start menu and, in the box, type or paste the following, then press enter: %AppData%/../LocalLow/Nimbatus/Nimbatus/Saves

It is recommended to make a backup (copy these save files to somewhere safe) in order to avoid surprises. Nimbatus has been known to delete some drones, though it stays unclear what features it discriminates them by, and whether it really is Our Great Drone Overlord's doing.

Good idea.

Lets see....

-gun propulsion is a thing

-Tractor beam propulsion is a thing

-put -80%, -20% on a weapon and you don't need to attach it to a battery to fire.

-The above fact makes printing piles of guns and either using them with huge recoil like a school of fish, or bombing enemies with them rather amusing

-For sake of being said because it originally surprised me; currently, logic blocks don't need to be attached to anything in order to communicate with anything else

-Anyone not using tags; doing so changes the whole game.

-Factories are the most powerful offensive option in the game

-Factories are the most powerful defensive option in the game

-Enemy structures CANNOT be destroyed by collision damage and have infinite mass.

-fire/heat resistant parts aren't resistant, they're IMMUNE to the corresponding effect.
