We just released a patch for the racing update on the preview branch! Thanks for reporting all the bugs so far.

Patchnotes 0.6.2

New Features

• Possibility to slow down time in drone vs. drone modes
• Added round basic parts
• Added hollow block part
• Added no friction and high friction plating for basic parts
• Added two new race tracks (Pisces Speedway and Sagittarius Drag Strip)

Reworks

• New particle effects for afterburner
• Added radius setting for TnT, allowing smaller explosions
• Revamped catch mode to make it more challenging
• The racing test track is now longer
• Added a new font for better legibility in running text
• Added compensation for the lost time between logic ticks, this should allow large logic chains without losing a tick each time a signal passes from one part to another.
• Racing modes now use continuous collision detection for all drone parts
• New visuals for the sumo arena

Bugfixes

• Fixed physics joints to make symmetrical drones fly straighter
• Fixed camera behaviour when following mouse cursor
• Fixed camera behaviour when camera trackers get destroyed
• Fixed the zooming behaviour in drone vs. drone modes
• Fixed sticky bullets when shooting large enemies
• Improved loading of savefiles after a crash.
• Fixed a bug where the drone selection screen stopped working
• Fixed that parts got deleted when pressing backspace and rotated with , and . while entering a setting value
• Fixed bugs in which destroying certain objects unintentionally counted towards the mission goal
• Fixed that the inverse rotation mode of vtol thrusters did not work

Here is how you can get the preview build on steam:

– Open your Steam library
– Right click on Nimbatus in the Steam library
– Select Properties / Beta
– Select the Beta tab
– Select the Preview branch from the drop down
– Restart Steam in case the game does not update automatically

 

Keep in mind that this preview build is still a work in progress, therefore I strongly recommend to back up your savefiles before downloading the preview branch. Here is where you can find the savefiles and logfiles: https://strayfawnstudio.com/community/index.php?/topic/651-please-read-this-before-posting/

We pushed a hotfix today that fixes two bugs and we also had to reset the racing leaderboards, due to the exploit.

• Fix that you could get highscores by exploding your drone in races
• Fixed offset of Angle Part when chaning to high or no friction plating

@flapped Hmm, this is strange  Do you mean you still get a highscore even when your drone is destroyed? If I'm on the preview-branch I can't reproduce this behavior.

Sometimes Steam has trouble updating the branches by itself. Can you try to restart stream and then try the preview branch again to see if you still get highscores after being destroyed?

Ah, I see  "Drone Destroyed -> New personal best" almost has meme value  Together with the "explosive bio barrel" fiasco we had some strange things in the game
