Spacestar TheThundersuncat
I posted the rules to this challenge before, but I ought to test some settings. So here's the Warriors version. As part of the rules, no names will be changed. Prepare for disaster. Starting with the randoms Slight Peltthistle, the elder Lighteye and a young Poppydawn. 'Pelt is a bit overpowered, but she's a reincarnation of a nicheling I really loved -- and imagine was cursed. But who's to blame for this?
Spacestar TheThundersuncat
Lighteye may have gone blind in his old age, but he is no slower on his feet than Peltthistle. Before she can scream, the nicheling dives into the waves, survacing with a clam Thriumphantly, he holds his treasure tight in one good paw. "Youngsters these days. Always unprepared", he grumbles. As they're tight on food, she can't really find it in her to complain. After a night, they find a nice place by the shore, secluded and quiet. Deep in her, she feels that something is missing. Didn't she once have a mate? But Poppydawn calls, ripping her from sleep. She won't remember these thoughts today, or even tomorrow.
Spacestar TheThundersuncat
Winter comes. 'Pelt hunts for rabills, while Lighteye attempts to introduce a young Poppy to the world of Palm trees. Team tree isn't really successful. However strangely, the slight nicheling feels as she had hunted hundreds of times before. Her paws know the when to pounce and her teeth never miss their mark. Infact, when she closes her eyes -- no. Focus. Seaweed for Lighteyes aching paw, not another rotting squirrel! The last one brought maggots to the fresh kill pile... When she returned, Poppydawn was wrapped around the grumpy swamp traveller, deep asleep. He didn't open his eyes in greeting. Now all alone with Dawn, there was no need for hunting. Still. A girl can dream. And occasionally pounce. It really should have surprised her more when a creature appeared, salivating at the sight. Not that she'd give it to him. Later that day, he would introduce himself as Silenthalf. "Silenthalf? What a ... oh". 'Someone, kill me now', she berated herself. Indeed, the nicheling missed half his face, down to the eye and ear, by the skyshreekers, even his right leg was badly scarred! How did he survive? Unsurprisingly, the distrustful being creeped back into the grasses. She would have to send Poppydawn after him. Her calm and sweet demeanor can calm the most enraged Big Bear. Surely, Silenthalf won't resist?
Spacestar TheThundersuncat
It turned out that Silenthalf was disabled as a kit. His father had died defending the litter, but sickly Silentkit was still the only reminder of its existence. Truly, they had never expected the tiny bean to survive, or to lose his illness. But here he is, shunned, despite all ability. He really can move surprisingly well, as wasted on his turning and twisting into the shadows. Is seeing his right half so painful? What did they do to him? But she doesn't know. Not that she'd harass the striking green and red nicheling for private information. She isn't even upset that they leave for fishing trips. Really. She's just surprised by the lack of moving meat. So she goes hunting alone. A rather dangerous pursuit, but it's winter and they're almost starving. Not that the love-striken pair would notice
Spacestar TheThundersuncat
"Owlwhiskers. Pleased to meet you. Oh - can I help you with something? It's the bugs, right? It's always the bugs ..." That's the gist she could understand from his ramblings. This Owl was a jet black cat of solid build, his ears only adding to a very round appearance. Oddly enough, his paws were too short for his body. She gathered that he was decent hunter, but prefered large prey. She wasn't confident in this fight. But her body was failing her, the wind whispering strange things to her ears. Maybe, just maybe, she would see the endless meadows of her dreams. Owlwhisker wasn't impressed, but oh, well. Just more meat for him. Until... huh. Competition, and the last one spawned a new one. Is there a fourth one around? Overly confident, but not mad, he knew that was his cue to leave. Shortly after, he met an odd trio. Their pelts were flecked with grey, but still seemed very much in love. "What a nice young man. We should invite him over to berries, don't you think?". Owlwhiskers just can't say no to food. The days passed -- and, well, frail Poppydawn. He accepted her mates grief and kept distance. Silenthalf would find the spot she had found him in all these moons ago. Soon enough, he was engulfed by a dreamless darkness.
Renio2490
Is Owlwhisker the only one left?
Spacestar TheThundersuncat
A bumbling Owlwhiskers hopped his way through the swamps. It's been days without rabbills, lurk as he might. Maybe it's time to move? A wild Cedarrapid appeared. She prided herself in her beautiful redlike fur and speed. Unfortunately, she did everything fast -- even falling in love. The Clan had decided on banishment. Owlwhiskers woundered if she was related to Silenthalf. Something told him he shouldn't ask, but that something was mute as always. Her agility was impressive, but they were out of food in the middle of winter. His way or no way. But ambition can kill easily. Cedarrapid fleed into the meadows, giving the third spawn of the 'yena line a good last hit. She did find company, but it sure was sarcastic. Or at least that's what she thought, considering "GLLARHK?" isn't much of an answer.

Staying in one spot doesn't seem to work well, so I'll be moving more. Got 2 rogues, though. If this keeps up, I'll have to change the recommended setting to 45 days. Some console use will be enough for now, if only because the island's really nice.
Spacestar TheThundersuncat
Rapidcedar outlives her natural lifespan. I'm adding 15 days with the console. It's winter. She had plenty of food, but doesn't dare to hunt now with two defenders nearby. However, one killed a bearyena for her. It's too much, but she takes a piece worth 4 points and moves on. Many days pass. Growls can be heard and dodomingos swarm the island. But no company. 5 days left. Finally, a strange crearure appears. She chases after him for two days, but no luck. Food is running low. When she finally has a chance, the bearyena gets in the way and she runs. It pursues a bunnil. The next day, I skip the turn, and despite having two days left: Wtf? I've never lost a tribe that way, but it says I can keep the island. And... I read that wrong. What a shame. There's some random peaceful meadow with two nichelings I've never seen. I guess a bearyena must have spawned in her face, as the other one was way out of reach. Improved rules will be 50 days. Maybe I'll find a stump next time.
