Illy
New user here, on Linux/Steam. Tried to play after downloading, and game refused to start. No log file created. Ran manually from the terminal and got the error "There is no data folder". Some googling shows that this means that there's a file missing from the install. Lots of unity3d posts. Deleted Niche_Data folder and verified Steam files to redownload. Error remains.
Jojo
@Philo should probably take a look at this
Illy
I just tried the "use proton" option, and that didn't work either. Then I tried running it directly through WINE from the command line, and that worked perfectly except it was on the wrong monitor and I couldn't get it full screen on the correct one.. No clue what's up with it. Is the data folder identical for both releases?
Micha
Hey @Illy Are you on the tester branch or the normal version on steam? Both should have a Niche_Data folder next to the executable, the folder is different for each platform and release.
Micha
Make sure your antivirus is not deleting the files, sometimes unity games get wrongly detected as virus.
Illy
Normal/default version. No antivirus causing trouble at my end. Yes, Niche_Data was there and had stuff in it. Would a file listing of it help? --- After playing for a bit via WINE, I'm going to go for a refund. It's not the install issue (seriously, I run Gentoo, I'm used to having to jump through hoops to get games to run), it's that I found the core gameplay more stressful than fun.
