It's just what happens. Also, the firework 'shows' are usually on the 3rd because people usually like to be with their family on the fourth. 1 2

I went to a Canada restraunt recently, unfortunately we were a day early for July 1st. I ate potato skins and they were heavenly then again I love potatoes and have never had potato skins like that before 2
