Free place blocks in the editor

ababaBABABABABBA

Post

On the top left where it has the tag button etc there can be a free place mode option, where you don't have to connect blocks to other blocks in order to place them

If you have this mode it enables you to freely move around sections if you are rearranging or building different versions of the same section

You will not be able to enter a planet or test flight, sumo, race with the the free place mode on and things not attached, but you will be able to save your file

They do that in Kerbal Space Program.  Anything dropped in empty space is just clipboard items, not launched, saved, or included in cost.  Being 3D, their 'clipboard' is actually kind of awkward, but in a 2d game it'd never be in the way.

It would be a better use for right-click than delete, IMO, whether the things on the clipboard are editable or not.
