Even if you "grow out of it", you might still be bad at remembering people long term. It's not that different if you could tell them apart before well enough, but putting names to faces easier when meeting, say, a group, is no doubt less stressful. There's not much else to it unless you also couldn't read facial expressions. If that's the case, you might have developed a higher ability to recognize and read voices... so aside from all the romanticization in culture, dealing with people really just becomes 20% less inconvenient.
