RSD induces overwhelmingly strong feelings very fast, to an extent people cannot cope and it affects self talk temporarily, like you've just seen. One might also really feel that way while knowing that people do not actually think that, which is a symptom of anxiety. Multiple causes, but some are not helped by knowing what you're feeling isn't proportional to the event. 1
