Impy10 Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 As a project, the whole of year 6 has to make prototype for reducing our carbon footprint. Share some ideas of what you think would do the trick! 1
Spacestar TheThundersuncat Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 It's 2 am, but... -- how politic/scientific is this? Depending on subject, you need to cater to a tone. (Make up some questions for yourself to answer accordingly. This helps structure information, have projects not get too big and sets a clear, less scary goal to avoid procrastination. ) -- do some research on relevant topics around carbon emission. -- make sure to construct multiple viewpoints, but start with gathering hard information once you know your subtopics. -- do more research on common misunderstandings, false facts in circulation and who profits from propaganda. Do not skip this step. + make sure to both get into what someone can do as a person and as a society when discussing. E.g. your personal choices even as a country are quite useless if your main contributers are big, big companies. Yet, demotivation is deadly. (Find actual examples here. What has company/country X done, what does Blog Y/scientists A, B and C say about it... It's a very common excuse from big contributers to say change would be too hard, recent successes say otherwise... What have other classes/young people done?) 1
georgie Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 dang for my year 6 project we literally just had to do like a poster about the mayans because they were far more concerned about the sats
Lilytuft Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 Oh boi we just had two full school days of stuff like this and now I'm supposed to write an essay. Yesterday was about food waste and wasn't as bad as Tuesday 1
Spacestar TheThundersuncat Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 We never got project hell, but had to write an essay weekly. Though you had two weeks to do so and could request more time if you were busy with work. Which is why it worked. But once they've tortured you enough, you kind of write them mechanically without too much stress

It's about speed, though, as you have more or less 40 minutes at our finals, then an half hour more for editing. There's also 50 minutes for a formal letter. Unless you get lucky like my class with a report. 1
